Was at this set. First time I saw Shellac. Didn't even realise they played 'Dude, Incredible' five years before it released. Also remember Steve or Bob mentioning that Steve would be playing poker later during the day (presumably in his chalet), and invited people to join if they were interested.
@wincekthomas Woah, buddy. The muffled sound is due to the camera, not the sound man. Elliot Dicks is Shellac's sound man 98% of the time, and he's literally the best there is. Do you really think Albini (of all people) would hire a shit sound guy to tour around the world with him? Elliot does sound for Tortoise, too. He's also the nicest guy in the entire fucking world. Before I knew him, I asked people who he was, because every show I saw him do sound for sounded perfect.
Finally, that guitarist guy learned how to play 🙄 On a serious note, Shellac are possibly one of the last bands with longevity still doing something different, interesting, and amazing.
Its just a compact camera with a stereo array of 2 tiny mics. It does a half decent job but no way does it do justice to the sound. This gig blew my mind and I've been to a lot of shows over the last 20+ years
if we're lucky, it'll be on the new record they hinted at coming out. I just saw them in August in Chicago and they were talking about putting out something new (relatively) soon.
Yeah, this and The Frogs video are my favourite videos of the weekend. Some great footage of the Shellac drummer - what a star! I'd really like to know what this track is called so I can hunt it down.
I'll be lucky if I don't bust out crying
Dude, incredible how close this sounds to the actual album track six years before its release.
It’s likely that the album version was recorded around this time even though it wasn’t released til much later.

I was at the other side of the stage. Great weekend.
MMMMM.... snare......
Amazing how Trainer loses a stick around 4:50 and one doesn't even notice (or just barely)
I also didn't notice until you pointed it out!
It seems shellac is slowly turning into NomeansNo
No they are far less tedious with NMN there’s no release just constant annoying build up
It's probably a limiter or auto gain thingy on the camera that's compressing the shit out of the snare?
island music
Dig that fucked up country sound.
Crowd is dead as fuck
