I just want to say thank you. I recently purchased a Mojave and you have literally covered everything I have questions on or curious about in your videos.
I ordered my gladiator 3 weeks ago and I opted for the no charge plastic one just because I knew I would be replacing it with a stubby bumper at some point. After seeing your 2 videos on this bumper I’m strongly considering this bumper and glad I didn’t opt for the steel bumper upgrade for almost $1000. Love the videos and content. Best thing is you cover things people can afford not crazy $6000 lift kits. Keep the everyday people content coming.
FYI, stock lights can be installed with the brackets sent in the kit, also, i swapped out the tow hooks for the originals and they fit great too - overall, win win for this bumper (With a winch plate no less!)
Great to confirm that is the case. Cool! Same for the tow hooks, great that I can use the stock tow hooks that came with my Mojave Gladiator. Let me go ahead and place the order now that the wife is not looking over my shoulder 😆😂
After watching your video of installing the knock off I bought it. No problems with it at all. The led fog lights are super bright and besides the sensor holes and extra hardware it’s a pretty solid bumper especially for the price!
Great video. The difference in price is enough to buy the knock off. I'm going to look into this knock off for my Mojave. Thanks again Rob for these great videos.
Thank you for this. I live up in Canada and I see lots of salt all winter, curious if this unit will hold up to our harsh winters and resist rust. Love the oem look!
Thank you for the information where did u get the aftermarket bumper eBay I have been looking around but I’m kind of skeptical but after watching this video I made my decision
I'm also looking to add a metal bumper oem but after watching your video I'm considering the knock off. One question is the knock off bumper is it still holding up? Thanks
Only thing that I need to confirm is what skid plate works with this.... since looks like I will not be able to use the one that came with my Mojave Gladiator...
I have halogen fog lights on my plastic bumper. If I upgrade to this steel bumper is it simply plug and play or will I need to use the factory wiring harness from my old bumper? Also does this bumper use the same mounts as the mopar bumper? Thank you.
I know this is an older video but wanted to chime in. I read somewhere that the hold in the top of the bumper you didn't know it was for, is apparently a slot for a flag to go in. A lot of off-road parks require flags to be on your vehicle so this is a convenient place to mount a pole for your flag.
The tow hooks that come with the eBay bumper are cap. At least the bolts are. I’ve stripped the thread at 70 lbs-ft torque and they are supposed to be @ 90. I’ve pulled the OEM hooks from the OEM plastic bumper and reused them. I’ve also reused the LED lights from Rubicon as well in order not to mess with the wiring, which was different.
Did you measure the thickness of the steel? Did it seem to be the same gage steel? That seems like a place where they might skimp to keep the price down. Great video and love the Gobi color, like mine!
Love the video made my decision and I'm going to get the knockoff version but where do you get the bumper cover that doesn't have the little holes in the front which I'm assuming for sensors .you said you got the original ones and put it on the knockoff.do you have a link on where you purchase it the part where the fog light goes the knockoff has a little hole in it thanks again
Will the lower profile oem bar fit the knockoff bumper? I’m looking into this knockoff but I like the look of the lower profile oem bar. Love the videos btw.
I am enjoying the channel. I do, however, wish that you had installed the oem bumper that is on your wife's jeep onto your gladiator so I could tell if the skid plates, etc fit. The dealership said that they didn't and I have nothing to compare it to. But, great channel and info. Thanks. (edit) After returning to the dealership for them to complete the installation, I found out that the Rubicon skid kit has to be ordered for that bumper. So, that cost me another $250. (Not happy) I am overall satisfied with the look and quality but totally didn't expect to spend upwards of $5k for that bumper/setup. People, save your money and go Rob's route, not mine.
So I watched both of your videos about this bumper and my one question is about the quality of paint. The bumper already had scratches from shipping which makes me wonder how long it’s going to take rocks and road debris to scratch off the paint and start the rusting process. Is this thing going to hold up?
@@robmotiveplus "In the state of Texas, it is required that you have a license plate on the front of the vehicle and the rear of the vehicle.” Standifer says the plate must be on the front bumper, not on your dashboard. ... Yeah OEM one doesn't include wrench plate, I was pissed when I found out and wrench plate will cost me another $250 Canadian on top of everything else. Well if I knew there was knock offs out three....

Great decision Chad👍

Yup! Can’t beat it for the price👍

I'm ordering one soon for my mojave. Thanks for the comparison. Your video really was the deciding factor. Thanks again and great videos!
Glad I could help! For the money, it's really hard to beat👍
After watching your video of installing the knock off I bought it. No problems with it at all. The led fog lights are super bright and besides the sensor holes and extra hardware it’s a pretty solid bumper especially for the price!
I agree! Can’t beat it👍
Where did you buy it from
Great video. The difference in price is enough to buy the knock off. I'm going to look into this knock off for my Mojave. Thanks again Rob for these great videos.
Absolutely! No need to spend more😬
the hooks are they from the original? or did they came with the fake one?
I took them from the original.
I been looking for this information for a long time! thanks
Glad to help 👍
Nice review and info, I am definitely considering for my Gladiator Sport. Thanks.
Thanks. Can’t beat it for the money👍
Thank you for this. I live up in Canada and I see lots of salt all winter, curious if this unit will hold up to our harsh winters and resist rust. Love the oem look!
I think it’ll hold up as well as the OEM. I didn’t notice any issues with the finish👍
Thank you for the information where did u get the aftermarket bumper eBay I have been looking around but I’m kind of skeptical but after watching this video I made my decision
See the video description 👍
I'm also looking to add a metal bumper oem but after watching your video I'm considering the knock off.
One question is the knock off bumper is it still holding up?
Thanks
You get what you pay for! There were some spots where the paint bubbled and some rust.
Looking good. Tires look good on both.
Thanks 👍
Only thing that I need to confirm is what skid plate works with this.... since looks like I will not be able to use the one that came with my Mojave Gladiator...
Mine came with one.
Thanks again Rob. You rock!!!
Thanks for watching 👍
My Rubicon came with the OEM steel bumper & I always wondered what that extra hole was for. Thx!
Do they make a lower air dam for the stubby bumper ?
Not that I’m aware of.
Ok Thanks
Can the bar be removed from both of them?
It could.
I think you made a wise choice for half the price it looks just as good.
Thanks 👍
Can you explain how to change the “driving lights” bulb?
Disconnect, twist and pull. Replace bulb and repeat 👍
I have halogen fog lights on my plastic bumper. If I upgrade to this steel bumper is it simply plug and play or will I need to use the factory wiring harness from my old bumper? Also does this bumper use the same mounts as the mopar bumper? Thank you.
Mine did not come with a wiring harness so I used the one from the previous bumper. It mounted directly to the existing mounts.
I know this is an older video but wanted to chime in. I read somewhere that the hold in the top of the bumper you didn't know it was for, is apparently a slot for a flag to go in. A lot of off-road parks require flags to be on your vehicle so this is a convenient place to mount a pole for your flag.
Yup, I mentioned that in a later video 👍
It still looks just as fine
Thanks 👍
Will the oem hook fit on this bumper?

I’ve pulled the OEM hooks from the OEM plastic bumper and reused them. I’ve also reused the LED lights from Rubicon as well in order not to mess with the wiring, which was different.
Hmm..I didn’t have any issue with either🤔
Can you reuse the factory tow hooks on the knock off bumper?
Again..I assume so, but didn’t try 🤔
@@robmotiveplus Thank you.
I guess I’m too late as it says product unavailable
So how do i find this bumper myself? Ive been looking on ebay but no luck
Just search 3 piece Rubicon bumper👍
Does the stock skid plate fit on the knock off?
It came with its own plate.
@@robmotiveplus thanks I always appreciate the fast replies!
How will the paint hold on the Chinese knock off go compared to the OEM one over time
We shall see🤔
Who makes the stubby rubicon bumper that you put on your gladiator? Thanks

From just eyeing it, I'd say it's pretty close.

Have a look at Bam Wholesale parts👍
Cool gladiator
Can you tell me if the winch plate bolts securely? I noticed the warn winch plate bolts to the vehicle near the rear of the plate?
The winch plate bolts thru the bumper brackets on the Jeep. Same place the tow hooks bolt to.👍
Will the lower profile oem bar fit the knockoff bumper? I’m looking into this knockoff but I like the look of the lower profile oem bar. Love the videos btw.
I believe so, but I’d check with the vendor to be sure👍
I'm curious about this myself. @robmotivejt can you try to bolt it on and see if it works?
After several months are you still happy with the bumper? Any problems with rust, etc.?
I am. No issues 👍
Is the quality of the metal the same? Does one feels lighter than the other?
The knock off feels a bit heavier. Not sure of the composition of the metals🤔

Hello sir, I just install the OEM steel bumper to my JL, is it necessary to install a steel plate ( don't do any off-road driving)
Steel plate?
@@robmotiveplus skid plate
It’s really up to you👍
@@robmotiveplus I mean is it ok to drive without a skid plate because the original plastic bumper have one
If something where to come up from that angle there would be nothing to stop it.
so is the OEM stamped steel?
Could be? I don’t know their manufacturing process 🤔
Excellent
How’s the sun rider top doing any leaks yet and have you ever considered a super charger
I love it...but I did have a leak😬
How is the finish holding up? Any rust spots around screws or anything?

Who would have thought that up!
It’s for visibility during off-roading 👍
Bumper looks awesome! How does the paint on the bumper on it hold up? Does it fade or rust? If so what would be the solution?
Thanks! Haven’t had it long enough to know? Stay tuned🤔
That hole is for to stick a flag in it when on the sand dunes in Michigan !!!
Is it required by your state law to have a front license plate to show? What’s her reason for not having it on ,and what is the fine for it.
It’s her preference and I have no idea👍

I have neither.
From the dealer its $900 😳
Did I miss - you said you looked up what the hole was for? What is it?
It’s for a flag for off-roading so you can be seen👍
👍👍👍👍
Rob, what are the extra holes for on the OEM bumper version?
It’s for a flag 👍
