    As someone who has never held a polisher much less used one, that was THE most helpful video I've ever watched! Papa, I appreciate not only that you shared the "how to's," but you also shared your thought process behind what pad/cream you used. Man, that was so helpful! Now to save up some money and buy the equipment and a practice panel and get with it! Thanks so much again for the time, energy, and knowledge you put into this! Looking forward to the next video!

    One of the best instructional detail videos I've ever seen, As someone who's been detailing for approximately 15 years I can tell you you have left no stone uncovered. Methodical systematic approach!! This is definitely going to help somebody who feels intimidated with the polisher. Good video Brother, 🤜🤛 👍

      I used to do it by hand as well! I loved Zymol wax! Hd cleanse was My pre-wax cleaner. I eventually bought a Cyclo polisher (I had two at one point as I had a friend helping on a few cars) which still works well! My go to is a 2009 Flex 3401! What a beast!!!

    Nice tutorial for beginners. I started with these products, still use them today, and they work just fine.
    One item I do disagree with on is about being a “professional”. Once you get paid for work you are considered a professional. Now just because you don’t do it as your main resource for income (or part time) doesn’t change the fact. However there are levels of professionalism such a novice, intermediate, and master (yeah some may argue the wording, semantics) but I think I have made my point. I don’t know of any job that when a person starts is a master at it, perhaps there is but I can’t think of any.
    Also don’t forget to remind people about safety items such as eye protection and wear gloves, after all these are chemicals we’re dealing with‼️
    Anyway I’ll get off my soap box and say I look forward to seeing the next video 👍✌️☮️

      I appreciate your insight my friend! I mean, I just say that I'm not a professional just cause I'm not 🤷‍♂️ I feel that label is strong when it comes to detailing you know? I'd get bashed for calling myself a professional detailer lol. Now, I can definitely say I'm a professional mechanic 🤣 lol. There are definitely different levels of " pro " I hear you brother. Safety for sure. See, I knew I was going to forget. I was a but nervous if you couldn't tell. My first style video like this.. always appreciate you tuning In an supporting 🤜🤛🤝

    New subscriber here, I’m so grateful to stumble upon this clip. I have an 06 EVO, garaged kept….she’s my gem. The car is in mint condition. But I will say I have never machine polished or clay barred the car, I have been seriously afraid of the words , scratching, marring, and burning when it comes to those 2 steps in detailing. I haven’t checked all your clips yet but hoping you have a motivational one for claying. 2 minutes into this clip

    I am familiar with the GG Boss ecosystem, but what stood out in this video was at 50:55 - chasing stubborn imperfections, each pass removes clear.
    I’ve been feeling defeated removing hard water etching & swirls on a ‘hard’ 05’ bmw m3 clearcoat. I gotta take it lighter and not chase perfection, it just brings unnecessary stress.
    I feel lighter after watching this video - I’m ready to go back at it right now, I’ll make sure to zoom out and appreciate how much better 80% correction looks.
    A macro look vs a micro look. Especially for a 190k heavily driven car.
    Much thanks again!

    • @PapaSmurf918Detail
      @PapaSmurf918Detail  9 месяцев назад +1

      That's the most important lesson... is not to chase perfection! It does NOT exist! And the more people realize it the better. Also. Our eyes.
      .the " eagle eyes " I call it.... people don't have! So what you see 9 times out of 10 they " customer " will not see... having fun... providing results.. learning... it's what it's all about my friend! Can't thank you enough for taking the time to watch!

You may have to watch it a couple of times to fully understand that...but it is all here. Great job and thanks for taking the time to do this video. And, Griot's is a great place to start IMO and for most weekend or part-time warriors is more than you will ever need. And your comments about their polishes not dusting etc. is spot on. Great video. I personally loved that you were winging it in real life. That’s what a lot of us are doing. I am. My
    car is as bad as the 3rd one in your video but my car has no shine to the paint anymore. I did start real light last week and have been working my way up to stronger products. Today I bought Greots compound to try. McGuire s ultimate didn’t “cut it” and I was afraid of using their 105
    So I’m now using greots and I love the stuff. it’s so creamy and so easy to wipe off. My paint is so dull and filled with swirl marks. A neglected car.
    Finally with the greots and a heavy cutting pad I see a shine! I’m so excited to get back to it tomorrow. I may even rewatch this in it’s entirety.

    Solid bro! Honestly, it was honestly great to see some experimenting. I’ve see great results with Fast Correcting Cream and I was curious how Correcting Cream compared. Also really great that you started off with the Polish which is typically a last step in a Paint Correction so it was interesting to see what happens when you first use Polish and then use that. I’ve def thought about it.

      @@PapaSmurf918Detail just finished. Great video for us beginners! A few questions to start. Is it pretty much a necessity to have a paint light? How do you check your work of you don’t have a garage and have to work outside? Can you give some tips on working outside in the sun? Can you use these same combinations on headlights and tail lights? If you don’t have an air compressor what’s the easiest/fastest way to clean the pads? If there is already a paint sealant on the car, what would you recommend to remove that before you start this process? (A lot of durability tests I’ve seen show that the sealants are very durable now and a regular “strip wash” will not remove them) 🤷🏼‍♂️

    • @PapaSmurf918Detail
      @PapaSmurf918Detail  3 года назад +1

      Thank you for putting up with such a long video man! Let's answer those questions
      Do you NEED paint light. No... do I highly recommend it? Absolutely... it's designed to mimic sunlight and using a regular flash light can be really hard to see... I tried to use regular lights and finally got the astro pneumatic 50sl... soooo much better. When out in direct sun your paint light is still effective 👍👍
      Can you use the same polishes on headlights and taillights? Absolutely can polish them out. Just keep in mind plastic can not dissipate heat as quickly as metal can so don't stay in one spot to long 🤙
      Cleaning pads? Easiest way, grab some dawn dish soap pre soak them for a little then use your hands and rub them out under a faucet until ALL the soap is out. Spin on polisher to get water out and set to dry 👌
      Tips for working in sun... Work fast!!! Lol I try my best no too. But, if need be get a good quality soap like Adam's shampoo, carpro reset.. ect... and when washing leave the soap on the car as when it dries its better than just water as it reactivate and rinse away. Cover the front windshield with 2 big towels to shade the interior to keep it cool.
      If a vehicle has a paint sealant or protection I will grab my POORBOYS WORLD STRIPDOWN!!! 100% would recommend it for a strip wash. Hasn't failed me yet.. true Si02 and Graphene spray coatings are more resistant to a high ph soap that's designed to strip and will take a few washes to rid it, if it's fresh. These strip wash soaps are designed to work on old waxes and sealants.. the Poorboys has knocked down some pretty fresh stuff for me but is NOT a soap. Hope these help man!!!!!

I’ve seen some people find dried up polish or compound in the cracks of their car. Is that normal or are they doing something wrong? Do you check the depth of the clear coat before you do any kind of paint enhancement/correction?

    • @PapaSmurf918Detail
      @PapaSmurf918Detail  3 года назад +1

      Anytime man!!!! Yup, I do if they are painted handles. I just be diligent when wiping off to make sure I get the polish out of cracks before it dries! 👍 and as far as checking depth.. I've NEVER checked as I do not have a paint depth gauge. If a paint looks funny to you. Trust your gut and stay VERY light when approaching.

      Hey my friend! Hmmmm that's a tough one man.. using a 3" polisher is definitely doable.. as you said, will take a while! But it's possible. If it doesn't have many really tight spots a 5" us definitely able to do a whole car as well. It's a tough call, I'd probably go for a 5" polisher to be honest. Just gotta manipulate the polisher a bit and you'll be fine👍 either way you'll get it done. Lmm what you decide to do🤜🤛

      The maxshine m15pro is a great first time polisher.. I have one and I enjoy it... definitely gets the job done... If your looking for a 15mm unit I'd highly recommend the Shinemate ex620 15mm lit from Chris up at CarzillaAutoCare.com lil less expensive than the maxshine and it comes with a set of 4 different pads👍. However, either one will get the job done! Thank you for taking the time to watch!

    Wanted to ask how many pads you use on one car? And do you wash the pads right after each 1x polished section you do? Or do you keep the same pad through the car and wash it only when it’s done?

    • @PapaSmurf918Detail
      @PapaSmurf918Detail  Год назад +1

      Thank you for the Sub!!!! As far as how many pads, I typically use 2 pads. I will blow out the pad everytime I lift it off a panel. Then, after a few panels for example the hood an maybe a fender or.2 I'll remove it and clean it, spin it dry and set it down to dry. I'll then put my 2nd pad on my polisher and continue 👍 I'll continue that process and cycle through 2 pads. Keep in mind I know it's not time saving haha, if I had to a job I needed to get done faster I'll use more pads. 👍👍
