Plus, last quarters results don't even paint a true picture of their situation. Under the Dealership model of sales, the companies "sell" to the Dealers. But what isn't reported is the glut of unsold cars that the dealers now have. They are separate Balance sheets. The Dealers won't want to "buy" more stock when they can't shift the current holdings. So, next quarter will be equally disasterous.

I think lawn equipment and anything with a small engine is an interesting pursuit but I think if the goal is to deal with the most energy use and convert it to more efficient electric, I think home HVAC and home water heating are the next step outside of cars and trucks. It's a natural progression after home energy generation and home energy storage to tackle the largest users of energy in the home, it wouldn't cannibalize any battery production from other pursuits to innovate on heat pump technology to improve efficiency directly or to turn each home into a micro smart-grid to use the same heating/cooling capacity more efficiently.

@@whowhy9023 I actually work in the autonomous lawncare business. Currently, Husqvarna automowers in the 400 series and up offer the best feautures; however they still require a fenced wire. This fence system is a limitation as it requires extensive planning and takes some time to properly set up. These automowers have GPS but don't fully utilize it as they lack the general intelligence. The gps just highlights the pixels of uncovered areas of the lawn then attempts to strengthen the signal to redirect the automower to visit those areas. The GPS isn't fully used for navigation. Now, Irobot is coming out with the Terra mower next year (have beta tested the unit in Germany) which eliminates the geo fenced system in favour of a 1-3 beacons that are simply staked in your lawn. It looks far simpler and appears to do a better job .

I would have preferred a 10:1 split, just to make it super easy to assess the price relative to the pre-split price. That said, a 5:1 split is okay.

Great interview. Just a side note on electric lawn mowers. I have a ryobi and it is awesome! Powerful, quiet, no exhaust... I strongly recommend!!
