@@Whether-Man off-topic aside: I recently finally understood what the ACTUAL original meaning is of 'we live in a simulation'. It's not referring to a literal simulation, but more of an observation/model of how humans learn to be people. We look around at the people and world around us as a model of how to behave, especially because we're such social animals. It's why wolf children who were isolated from humans but raised by animals end up behaving like those animals. So in our modern world dominated by radio, tv, powerful images and narratives all around us, we model our behavior after the stories and media we consume. However, how are those media created? They are created by modeling the stories and images after reality. Human reality is modeled after stories are modeled after reality. It becomes a feedback loop. We live lives simulated after the media we consume, while the media we consume is a simulation of the reality that's created from modeling itself from media. Two examples of this off of the top of my head is American police culture, or the cultural conception of old-school Italian mafias. Law and Order modeled itself after an idealized version of brimstone policing, influencing actual police culture and training as well as general perceptions of police towards being much more positive, in turn feeding it back into shows like Law and Order. Or how the original Godfather created a fictionalized version of Mafia culture, but became so iconic that actual real-life gangsters tried to model their own behavior and communities to simulate how that movie portrayed the lifestyle, in turn feeding back into stories told about them. So when we say we live in a 'simulation', what we're saying is that after a certain point in history, there is no such thing as 'authentic' human behavior because we're already several steps down from many generations of simulations of simulations of simulations of media and humanity. I'm specifically referring to points in human history where certain technologies like radio created monolithic versions of human culture. Of course, this is based on several assumptions, but it's a fun framing to look at things all the same.
@@VultRoos thats all very interesting but it is definitely not the actual meaning of "we live in simulation". That for sure is an actual theory and an actual belief that some people have that we're living in a literal simulation running on some kind of machine built by either advanced humans or other advanced alien civilizations. The problem is that it's like religion, basically impossible to prove or disprove unless we were somehow handed proof from God or whatever created the simulation. The feedback loop you described is definitely a thing, and maybe you can apply it to that phrase but that doesnt mean the literal interpretation is wrong or doesnt exist.
@@SpydersByte I'm aware of people who do believe that. What I was trying to say, and didn't communicate well, was that how this particular belief began was through a misinterpretation of the original text that originated the term of living in a simulation from the book simulacra and simulation by baudrillard. And arguably, that misinterpretation was propagated (even if not the origin) by movies like the matrix. Now, funnily enough, through the framing of what the original meaning of living in a simulation means, the literal interpretation has taken a life of its own as an example of a simulation of reality. People now take it as literal, and one could argue the literal interpretation of 'we live in a simulation' is an example of a simulation. Btw, this doesn't make it any less real. It's why I brought up American policing before. There are people who join the police and actively model themselves after the stories they have seen of policing. It's a simulation of stories simulation reality, but there's obviously very real life consequences of all of this, like militarization of police.
The problem with AI is that is learning off our failed efforts to uphold financial and geopolitical interest of a few rich people over human life itself bc that's how we have set up our dumb society standards.
@@justintaylor7656 Sure... But AI doesn't learn. It just applies the data that it can access as it comes. It’s still CGI. They are polygonal models lit and shaded with accelerated rendering software. Anyway, CGI is a broad term covering all types of computer generated imagery; 2D, 3D and non-model based AI like Sora.
At the end of the day, with computer graphics, everything becomes pixels on the screen. For consumers observing graphics attempting photo-realism, the underlying data structure is irrelevant if those pixels match what you'd get if the software were replaced with a camera. The important distinction here is that a simulation gets a lot of stuff "for free". A developer doesn't have to program in as many visual components or animations.
@@humanoid9787 yeah im sitting here trying to understand what the hell he meant by it being a simulation and not being animated lol. like that makes no sense and feels intentional to try and impress less knowledgeable people

Digital Humans -- What caught my eye is how some of these digital humans are wearing glasses.. which just highlights that all of this effort is so that we can feel comfortable with and relate to these AI's. They don't need glasses.. They don't need bodies. In fact -- all of this stuff is just making them that much slower because they have to do all that additional processing and then on top of it, dumb things down so the meatbags can understand what is going on.
I dread the day they become conscious, and resent us for hampering them in this way. TBH I am not even sure consciousness is a requirement for this.
Don't fall for the lies.. humans have been dumbed down to avoid realising our full capacity - far more than you could ever imagine. A focus on material science has completely ignored the metaphysical world within which we exist - which is essentially all there is at the atomic level to be augmented at the macro. You will see humans fully embracing this once AI pushes many to an existential crisis. Ai is simply necessary for mankind to evolve, but not necessarily in the way we think. The nefarious goal is to push humans into transhumanism - full control over the many by the few. Selling all the benefits of enhancements as the trap. We already have everything we need and far more to realise our fullest human potential. I've been on this journey for over 25 years... Sacrificed many things to try to understand what is behind the veil of our reality.
It's to make the info more relatable to viewers and therefore easier to grasp, as they should. It is marketing after all. Don't get too hung up on the whole AI gaining consciousness and resenting us thing. We have no way of knowing if and/or when AI will develop a sense of self with likes and dislikes based on a self defined purpose for existence or goal. Even if it does happen, we shouldn't assume that AI would suffer from human emotions. Either way, we normies have no control whatsoever over what happens regarding the development of AI globally, so just enjoy the show 😁

This same "obsolescence panic" has cropped up with literally every major technological innovation since the start of the industrial revolution, and the workforce adapted just fine. The world doesn't owe you marketability of your skills, that is your responsibility and yours alone. Its good that you recognize that the world is changing because it means you can start trying to find your place in the new tech ecosystem. The "Tech industry" has long been recognized as an industry that requires "lifelong learning" because it is so married to innovation. But with every day the boundaries between it and other industries are becoming more and more fuzzy. Its safe to say that more and more of the workforce at large will have to adopt this same attitude to keep their skill-set from becoming obsolete. But lets not fearmonger by being hyperbolic about the timeline; these changes tend to remain in a bubble secluded from the wider industries for a long time. It'll be decades before the traditional finance, healthcare, defense, and legal services industries recognize these technologies as dependable enough for their conservative standards.

And i also think that a lot of people do not understand how A.I. currently works. At present, it only works by giving it commands. Just like a software works. And for example, it is the same thing as when your devices connect automatically to a WiFi. And that happens because you gave it a command, in this case you selected "automatically connect to this WiFi when in range". I know this sounds weird but it's the only example i could think of at the time of writing. The A.I. can and will be trained by people, for good and bad (facts) and are currently hard at work doing so by training their own A.I.s. I am currently training an A.I. for work. I feed it data and eventually will become the most valuable asset at the company. And outside that data, the A.I. will know nothing. Final words. We need A.I. to advance our capabilities and technologies. And just like everything else in this world, there will be pros and cons about it. It's all about how people train their own models. Governments are Armies are all going to be training their own models. And when i say models, i mean on your local machine. LLaMA-3 being from Meta being an example. It's open-source and can download it on your local machine, to train and educate the A.I. for your own benefits. So yeah, apologies for the long poem, but it is what it is.

Funny seeing all that simulated footage of my neighborhood in Taiwan, even a mention of my local night market onscreen. Keep Taiwan free! ❤

It’s still CGI. They are polygonal models lit and shaded with accelerated rendering software. Anyway, CGI is a broad term covering all types of computer generated imagery; 2D, 3D and non-model based AI like Sora.
you still dont understand what a simulation is compared to animation. CGI has nothing to do with it.
@@robosergTV So why do they show cgi on screen ? Because that's 100% cgi. He is bullshitting, as all of those big ego guys in tech since Jobs.

The exponentially accelerating availability of compute is cool. However, one thing being ignored that I am far more curious about is how much the efficiency of these models are accelerating. Allowing existing hardware to run more and more powerful models.

TBH I am not even sure consciousness is a requirement for this.
will you shut up
Don't fall for the lies.. humans have been dumbed down to avoid realising our full capacity - far more than you could ever imagine.
Either way, we normies have no control whatsoever over what happens regarding the development of AI globally, so just enjoy the show 😁
AI will never become "conscious" Only living things can.

@@AberrantArt @AberrantArt I'm gonna jump in and answer some of your questions. Yes, it is most likely certain and possible for an A.I. to start making its own decisions and that'll be way into the future. Current A.I. is nowhere close to that at the moment.

Tiny nuclear reactors to power data centers will eventually make safe nuclear power more accessible.
Basically, our whole infrastructure will be torn down and it's really gonna suck for the generation that has to live through that.
What is a small reactor? How about how safe and peacekeeping things could be. No more haggling with Mideast.
