- Hey guys! This time I thought we'd try searching for some Junk somewhere a little different. What exact can you get at a Japanese convenience store for $100? Naturally I had to start with the legendary Family Mart Famichiki! This was possible the biggest onslaught my tastebuds have ever had in one sitting! Biggest take away was read the labels carefully.... those noodles were no joke!! 🔥😱💦

Oh man... I should have read the label when I bought those spicy noodles!! 🔥🔥
What's the spiciest thing you guys have ever eaten?
I reckon it was Korean instant noodles with Black Bean Paste.
It was mostly just spicy and almost nothing good with the taste
Korean noodles, they dont mess around with spices
My mom one time grew these tiny chilli peppers that were spicy as _fuck!_ Or the REEEEEEALLY hot sauce I bought my best friend...
If you count booze i have a story. My then new friend asked if a wanted to taste some strong booze he hade and i as a 187cm long dude ofc said "give me your stronges" and boy he wasent joking when he said it was "strong". It was Tequila that he hade hade a few Carolina repers soaking in for a few weeks...i hade never expereienced such heat in my life and i honestly thought i was gona get cardiac arrest so i just started ripping my halloween costume to shreds becaus the zipper hade got stuck, funny now but back then i feelt like i was dying XD
Goulash with some special chili pepper and this was knocking me out. 🤣
Never fire your editor. I was in stitches during the spicy part!
Ohh yeah it’s a great TEAM for sure
agreed
if anything that editor needs a hefty raise. I mean he/she has to look at all that food and can not eat it. (I mean the camera handler could possible still try some)
@@sirBrouwer Maybethey do off camera you never thought about that? 😅
@@davefekete7187 the editor might not even live in Japan. If you look at the editor of Chris Broad, Dave he does not live in Japan. he does have to see everything even we do not get to see.
I definitely agree with your last statement: this episode is junkiest junk-foody alright! You ate things I wouldn't even consider food (gummy birds... among others).
Also, great editing and writing, I loved them, X-rated moans included 😆
Did you love the ending? I am still laughing at Pauls Edit on that one
Shout of the editor: The smash cuts are amazing! Also, Famichikkin really continues it's campaign to make me come back to Japan and try some.
I am not sure a trip all the way to Japan is worth it just for the Famichiki, but next episodes RAMEN... that is gonna be worth it
The last time we went to Japan the very first thing we did after getting off the plane was hit the Family Mart in the terminal - we had to get supplies of course😀Then every day after that for the entire time we're in Japan we'll go to Family Mart (or 7-eleven or Lawson et al) to get... something. Fried chicken, sandos, chips, sake, chocolate, pre-prepared meals, you name it. The one thing I had every day regardless was a purin cup (creme caramel). They are awesome. Japanese conbini are the best things ever. You can't eat at Jiro's sushi every day 😂 Each time we've gone to Japan our favourite store has changed. Family Mart used to be our favourite. Last time it was Lawson. But who knows, maybe next time it will be 7-Eleven 😄
Awesome comment! JFJ needs to investigate…
Nic never disappoints! God, how I want to visit Copenhagen again, and Tokyo too! The series on these types of stores would be a great watch, imo. And yeah, the lack of itadakimasu was palpable, it is your trademark at this point 😅.👍🔥
So, Yes and No... Conbini food is not made with TLC tender loving care so I wasn't feeling it
As always just having a great time watching these videos! Good vibes all around with entertaining and enjoyable content ^^
CooL hang around for more !
This has to be my favourite konbini food review! Your reaction and the editing of the Spicy Noodles part was hilarious. Can't wait for the Ramen video!
Yeah wait for that Ramen video for sure ! It was crazy good 👍
I love your content. One of the absolute best creators for people interested in Japan. I have a few places im visiting this year in Japan thanks to your videos. Keep up the good work!
CooL I hope you find your own great food adventures when you are here
I did a little cycle/backpacking trip across the shimanami kaido and I lived off the convenience stores I ran into in all the small island towns. Great places to rest and pick up some quick calories during your ride. Definitely one of the things I miss about Japan.
Yeah while cycling in Japan the conbini really come in handy, they are so conveniently located every 5 to 10 km along any mayor road in Japan, wife and I cycled the Michinoku trail a couple years back and became heavy users along the road. The ¥100 coffee's are great revival tool when on the road.
keep on making videos man! love every one you've done so far!
Happy to hear that and we are here to stay for sure
This is absolutely amazing. Every video here is fun and exciting. Can't wait for the next video, oss!
OSU! hang around and share to watch more food stories
😂🤣😅 Seems like the entire episode was soldiering through a hellish battleground just in order to attain the small but decadent Chocolate Cake at the end! 😄😁😋👍
Yeah I am glad to have finished on the chocolate cake
Okay, I absolutely loved the MMMontage 😂
Sådan!
Entertaining as ever! Especially that spicy section 😂
it was HOOOOT
Happy to be seeing this new video of yours!
CoooL
I love how he tries to turn off the heat of the noodles by drinking A FIZZY SUGARY DRINK. 🤣🤣🤣
Remember kids, if your food is so spicy you start to sweat, drink milk or eat some dairy like cheese or yogurt. Or if you don't have milk, just drink water. Acidic drinks will just worsen the spice lmao.
Anyway, love the video!! I always enjoy people buying and eating combini foods from across the world. 🥰
I panicked what can I say…
Great video my man!! More please
Great quality videos and such a fun personality. You deserve much more views for sure!
COOOL help share the channel! let's RockNroll it
Thanks man for all you do for us, great video you always make me laugh. Only love and respect for you legend
Thank you, I was not trying to make you laugh but happy you did. Brutal honesty was what I was going for
@@JunkFoodJapan yes, you always real, that's what I enjoy the most. Kyokushin champions are always great athletes but in the first place wonderful human being like yourself. You the best Nicholas a real legend. Moving to Japan for working/studying and practicing martial arts is a dream of mine since i was a kid. When it will happen, I really hope to enjoy a meal some day with you, that would be a dream of mine . Take care Sensei
Osu 👊🏻🙏🏻♥️
The tradition of the ''Itadakimasu'' wasn't met... I'm sad. Though it might only be used when it was ''cooked food''? Not sure. (Keep up the good work :) )
If you Itadakimasu alone in a studio when there's no when there to hear it ... does it make a sound?
Nope you're right - will have to make the next one extra loud to make up for it!
I didn't feel like the video started at all without the "itadakimasu". I was waiting for it the whole video
I'm sure his vocal cords were glad for the break tho.
Atleast we got a "If it's not in your face it doesn't belong in your mouth" instead though he messed it up 😢😂
Your videos are awesome. You’re the perfect host for this kind of stuff man, props to you 💪🏼
Thank you, waking up and reading/responding to this comment is heart warming
This was absolutely the junkiest food video... Love it!
You got that RIGHT ! TOMODACHI
This gets better every video! Haven't been so hooked on a RUclipsr that much in years.
How do I pin this comment to the top?
Great video, very intresting! Looking foward another ones
CoooL hang around for more for sure. Junk Food Japan is here to stay
Having just gulped some fried chicken myself (Korean BBQ, oh the heartburn!), this was finga-lickin' fun to watch! I love a good "try everything" format. Variety is the spice of life, as they say 🔥
It’s fun for sure. Life a box of chocolates, you never know what you gonna get
I would love to see more convenience stores man, keep it up! Your content always cracks me up
Got it! we are talking about it
When the host looks like he could shout "THIS IS SPARTA" any minute, while the animations look like something from Blue’s Clues. 😂
This is ITADAKIMASAU
Really enjoyed this video format, and I hope you do more like it! Specifically hoping you do Lawson next, because....well I've actually heard of that one (thanks NJPW!) and would like to learn about it.
Also big shout out to the editing team! You guys are fantastic!
The Team hears you! Thanks and noted on the Lawson request
AMAZING video you king!
BooooM
That was such a fun watch!!
Thank you
Keeping it coming! Great video, great fun! Do Lawson next…
Noted !
Left on my own, I can live on Japanese combinis, instant ramen, and McDonald's (Mos Burger is my favorite now) so this is right up my alley. When I visit Japan I think my go-to breakfast aside from a morning set is a nice sando, melon pan, and Smoothie from the combini. If I'm traveling with other people I try to eat more "normal" food and even went to EggSlut, but I'm in a combini at least once a day when I'm in Japan.
Love the enthusiasm for the junk food!
Oh hey, there's a burger joint in Sendai that purports to be the first burger joint in Japan. I think it's a small place (they were sold out when I tried to go) but it might be an interesting place to put on your list. It's one of the places on my next trip list (plus Blackwater Brewing and the taprooms in Miyazaki). When I do make it back, I'll be all over.
Yeah Man! I know about all these places. Have actually been to the black water brewery and met the owners. And about that first burger joint… I feel like JFJ needs to investigate
Nice one! My go-to combination when it comes to Family Mart is the Habanero crispy chicken with the CC Lemon drink. Can’t go wrong with that! Also, their bentos are quite nice, especially those involving tonkatsu, quite good!
7-eleven, though, has one thing over Famima: katsu sando. That fluffy bread, that thicc tonkatsu with sauce, and those little bits of cabbage to fool you into thinking it’s not completely junk food? Manna from heaven, I tell you!
This comment sounds like a food review all by itself. We shall investigate
Loved this video. Please do the other stores too!!
Got it !
The montage at the end is soooo good lol
Always cracks me up
Loved it, more please....
Got it
It would be great to see all the other stores. Had a 711 sandwich the other day over here in America, definitely a miss. But it's just interesting to see how the companies treat quality and variety based on where the stores are located. Just wish we had the Gundam menu here.
I think it’s just fun to see what crazy things you can get at the combini stores here
What a legend 👏 happy to see this side of Nicholas. Bravo 👏
Welcome to the fun side TOMODACHI
Big fan ! You need to come down to Melbourne for a tour! Love your work and legacy. Stay safe
Gia sou my friend
Love the longer episodes
Happy Days
Wow so much of interesting food and snacks.
Please go forward with this kind of videos.
I hear you... so does Paul and Marcus
Famichiki and Strong Zero, Chris is definitely behind this
I swear he is not!
nicely done.. best of luck for your future videos..
Thank you 🙏 hang around for more food stories
This was interesting please do more of these.
Sure thing
They say if I watch the video thrice, the FamiChiki god Chris will come visit my house.
Kidding aside, I am really digging the longer content (this is your longest vid to date)! Would definitely watch more convenience store reviews.
Happy Days
Final Montage...the Best! hhahahaha
LOL 😂 right!
Wow so much excitement trying junk food…so over the top…are you like this 8n real life or this is just your online persona 🤣
What you see is what you get
nice touch with the "mmm" montage
Right! I loved the last Urgh!
great video.
Thank you!
I see, the feasts with Sosai trained you very well Shihan.😂 I guess I would have stopped after 4 or 5 of these Snacks.
Too much fun for sure
The sheer mention of fried chicken summoned Chris Broad.
LOL
Family Mart better sponsor this man because now I wanna go to a local convenience store to buy some junk foods. Pray for my diet
Yeah they should sponsor for sure! Eat in moderation when going Junk !
This is epic!
LOL I know what you mean! but that "FINAL" yakisoba was crazy hot I don't understand why they sell
@@JunkFoodJapan You almost made me to have a pot noodle at midnight but I passed!😂😂😂
Lol when the crepe was sus 😂
I know…
Another awesome junk food video man, I don’t want to know how many hours you have to spend to the gym to work that off but what I do wanna know is did you finish the spicy noodles?
I burned 221cal just trying to open those potato chips!
Family mart was a 30 second walk from my hotel when I was in Tokyo. Those curry pan, egg salad sandos, or family chiki was my breakfast for 2 weeks!
It can be very addictive
Great videos
Thank you 🙏
Love it...now I ma hungry ...but I can't find this type of junk food in my country 😭
just like I said, most of this can only be found in Japan, but some of it... maybe you don't want in your country ...
Just watched this episode with my 6 year old daughter. She wants to know when we can visit Japan to try loads of funky Japanese konbini goodies!!
Thanks @junkfoodjapan - I'd been looking for an excuse to book another trip!! 😂
Hope y’all make it over
Please do more of these conbini foods videos 🙏🏻
I’ll talk to the team!
A karate master defeated by a bag of potato chips? I guess you could say he was... foiled. Man, Japan really goes the extra mile with their packaging, huh? It's amazing how even the cheapest dollar store snacks look like luxury items!
Foiled ! That’s funny lol. Yeah some of the stuff looks better than it is, but happy days for sure
Strong Zero is my favorite. When I return home from Japan I always go to a few stores at the airport and fill my carry in bag with Strong Zeros and bring them home with me.
Party on for sure! Two of them and it’s wobbly legs for sure
You’re so funny TOMODACHI 😂👌🏻👍🏻
So are you TOMODACHI!!! 😂
You'd be more than ready for the apocalypse with that stash. 💪
LOL 😂 that’s actually funny
Dear lord this looks like my table after a trip to Cost Plus World Market.😂
on my trip to japan i liked to end my day by watching some youtube on my laptop eat couple melon breads and or some mochi or what ever other jummy things i grabbed from shops near by and drink 4-5 strong zeros :)
4 Strong Zero’s will mess you up TOMODACHI LOL 😂
You should do a Conbini fried chicken off with Mr. Affable, I know he's done a testing with Connor, but more of a who can eat the most from each of the conbini's .
🤔
@@JunkFoodJapan it's just an Idea I thought of since Chris is a Expert on fried Conbini Chicken..(according to him) so to speak and you can beat him in my opinion.
Great episode, interesting items. You know arbys has come out with a wagyu burger, I wonder if it's in Japan now.
Have yet to see it? but I would be very skeptic as to how Wagyu that is?
Love starting my Sunday morning watching Nick chaotically devour half a convenience store. But Famichiki, One Cup Sake, Strong Zero and crisps in one sitting? Feels like that British fella must be lurking close by...
P.S. 13:07 Really struggling not to channel my inner Michael Scott right now.
Who’s Michael Scott?
@@JunkFoodJapan The manager from the US version of The Office, played by Steve Carell.
Eating Family Mart fried chicken, Chris would be proud!
or just jealous...
@@JunkFoodJapan Considering he's now in the UK its probably that lmao
More Challenges let's go!!!
Men? Folk forstår det messer ad hvad jeg siger
I want some of those triangle sandwitches!
They are goood
Strong zero intrigues me because even here in Canada we have alc. Drinks like them that are 9%. It's my drink of choice during summer vaca beach time!
Loving the videos though glad Chris had you on his chanel!
Me too it’s been a really fun first season! This year we are going to have more fun
why is the editing in the SSS tier?!
We wanted the most for our money
Love to come to Japan some day 👍👍👍 hope it happens soon.
Travel to Japan is now possible
'"It goos out all over the place, it's in your face, It's in your mouth" Junk Food Japan 2022.
it's actually "If it's not in your face it doesn't belong in your mouth" I messed up my own words. LOL
That Yakisoba is crazy🤬🤬🤬LoL
OMG 😱 it’s called the final for a reason
You could do a follow up of this and do one where you get all of your favourite things from a Kombini
Sounds like a plan
Quite nice to see the treats you liked. One thing though: you know Chris, why did you risk the one cup sake? I am looking forwards to the next episode. And I;d love maybe a VS battle
Keep asking and maybe one day… maybe one day
@@JunkFoodJapan ah whoops, I realize I might have worded that a bit poorly. I meant a favourite food from different kombinis battle, not you vs Chris.
Notifaction gang
same. Lets go!
Man... I am getting massive cravings for Famichiki again... I've been on withdrawal since my last trip before the world closed up. Famichiki and 2-3 Riceballs are my cheap breakfast of choice =P
I hear you… sometimes I struggle just driving past a convini
The best mm in Japan! Makes me want to eat. 😋
Love the comment ! Mmmmmm mmmm mmm
9/10 no itadakimasu was found. Still a banger
I hear you but that is for food that has actually been made with some TLC tender loving care
@@JunkFoodJapanSad family mart employee making the chickie
Chris is gonna be upset you didn't save him some of that Famichik, lol
You snooze you loose
Good to know that I'll have high chances going broke in a convenience store before I can even set foot in a restaurant/izakaya/eatery :'D
LOL 😂 it’s easy to go crazy just for fun
I'm legit surprised that the fried chicken didn't summon Chris from Abroad In Japan.
I am sure he wanted in, but I can handle it
@@JunkFoodJapan I just figured opening a chicken wrapper would summon him, like saying Beetlejuice three times. lol
7:10こりゃ傑作だ😂
ヤバいよ!まじで辛い 笑笑
Drinking milk after spicy food helps.
Would like to see you try bento boxes from rail stations as I think each station has their unique local take on it
And I thought for the pudding you were meant to tip it out so the caramel pours over it?
I like this idea, because Bento boxes are just so much fun. Like a box of chocolates, you aint never know what you gonna get.
You can do that if you like, but I don't have the patience to put it on a plate...
I miss curry cup noodles so much... The best instant ramen by far!
It’s a classic for sure
i just love Nick's chaotic energy.
it's somehow both better and worse than Chris's
I will send Chris some of those noodles and we can see if he can keep his cool 😎
Dear lord do I need to get to Japan. Also need to get you to the States to see the wonder that is Buc-ee’s!
I am intrigued now very much, hey Team? How big do we need to get before go State side?
@@JunkFoodJapan I mean, whenever is clever, though, Buc-ee's is based out of Texas, and, I'm in Georgia, and, it's hotter than hell right now. I'd wait until the fall/winter, personally.
Fried chicken and Chris is nowhere to be found. You had to wait until he left the country to film this one. HAHA!
Guerilla tactics are working good
Very enjoyable, so much better and cheaper than the ones in the US.
Do you think it’s that much cheaper? Interesting 🧐
@@JunkFoodJapan yes. One gas station i used to live near in the US sold an ok fried chicken sandwich for like $3.50 and a bag of chips was about $3 for a small bag.
You should visit Osaka and try Takoyaki, Kushi-Katsu and of course, Okonomiyaki (although there's a debate which is better - Osaka style or Hiroshima style).
The first two dishes are typical to Osaka. The best Takoyaki is made by the Takoyaki king in Osaka!
Osaka tour is going to happen one day
Good digestion!!!
Thank you, I went straight to the gym
do an absolute instant noodle test, like all the hot water noodles in a styrofoam container, there are many to choose from :)
Have you seen the amount of noodles they have in any given supermarket or conbini? It’s nuts
Strong Zero hits way harder than the 9% on the can implies.
This is true
@@JunkFoodJapan I've heard it referred to as "The gaijin killer" 🤣
LAWSON!!!!
I hear you...
Yeah, Bro-hit a 7-11 store just for sandwiches!
Yeah right!
A food challenge huh? Well I know MOS Burger has a weird rice-based bun it developed with the Japanese government back in the day, and it got me thinking. Could you take food from the various fast-food chains and, in an anonymous tasting, match them to their appropriate store? I reckon visuals and flavour may play equal parts figuring it out.
It would be interesting to know if a particular Japanese brand is unmistakable. A decent curve ball might be outlets not known for a particular food, such as Denny's, if you can get take-out to do it with.
Nice idea, trust when I say to you that you almost nailed it as long as you stay tuned for more food stories something almost like that will be coming.
