DAMN THAT REMINDED ME OF MY BUILD ON MY 66 XLCH. 70 OVER MOTOR, ANDREWS R5s ,MAGNETO IGNITION, HARDTAIL FRAME, 16" CONTI REAR, 9" OVER SMITH + FETROW GIRDER, SHOTGUN DUALS AND TOO THINK I BUILT IT IN MY 2ND FLOOR APT DINING ROOM ... AHH THE MEMORIES.....
what- no chair throwing, no hissy fits, no lectures on bike themes and 'vision', no family intervention moments ??? jeez guys; it's 'just' about building stuff huh?
An Ironhead is the perfect project bike. It's such a simple and elegant design. It's easy to understand, work on and maintain. They are fairly cheap to work on even nowadays. I have a real soft spot for them. I always feel like i'm riding my Schwin Stingray and I'm 10 years old when I'm on my 84.
as a proud Sportster owner for 27 years, I really enjoyed this :) 1957 was the first Sportster, it was interesting to see how the tech has stayed the same but improved over the years. the bike looks great!
This guy is an awsome mechanic ! I see him on other vids rebuilding race car engines, old engines , classic engines .. Wow and now i see rebuild motorcycle engines. Amazing .
Thanks so much hagerty for making rebuild video, you got a high mechanic level. PS: sorry for my english (i'm from France) Special thanks to all hagerty team
Awesome, absolutely awesome. Really enjoy watching the time-lapse builds and appreciate all the effort that goes into not only the builds, but the videos too. Much respect.
Brings back memories of using a crow bar and a 2x4 to compress my 900 71 clutch springs. AMC pos needed to adjust the tappets every couple hundred miles and a tear down every couple years.
My uncle had a 69 sporty. Kicker naturally. It was 1979, I was 11 and wanted to ride it so badly. He said, "IF, you can START it, you can ride it." Knew the "ritual" by heart but, couldn't budge "The Commencement Lever!" Nothing sounds like a shovel.
Great looking bike. She’s done just right. Clean but not a lot of flash. Man, I love ironheads. My first three Harleys in my younger days were ironheads. I’m extremely happy with my 08 Dyna, but I’d sure like to build another old Sportster.
Fantastic job, beautiful real looking harley, good music rocking along... but alas had to ride off on the snow mobile, great stuff. btw good old sporsters are fine riding and underated. I miss my '74.
Watching all those kicks was like me the past few days trying to start my freshly rebuilt 1986 Honda cr500 lol. I highly underestimated how hard it would be and didnt do the decomp head mod. Also doesnt help I'm dealing with several injuries so kicking the bike was difficult. Finally got it running after nearly breaking my foot because of the sneakers I was using lol. Great build tho, love these time lapses.
That brings back memories,I had a KH 900 I built about 25 years ago. Black with flamed tank, ridged , hyd front end , 16 rear, 21 front , solo seat. Then I sold it to build a big twin ridged. I sure wish I didn’t sell, but I still have the big twin. Never have time to work on it though ☹️
H - D's...My dad had a 65 XLCH bought new. my sister at 16yrs accidentally put a small dent on the front fender. about 1972, that earned her a punch in the face. from dear old dad... he promised that sportster to his each of his 3 son, when he did pass at 79yrs. nobody wanted it so it sat, we all ride, we take trips, none of us every had a Harley-Davidson or road one. he always valued that bike more then his 3 boys and 3 girls. I am 65 now.. i'v much watched interest H-D enthusiasts. CAN'T WAIT FOR THE DAY HARLEY-DAVIDSON GOES UNDER...
Check out part 1 if you haven't already. It's a bit more detailed on the engine rebuild: ruclips.net/video/ft3GUzuo_AM/видео.html
Hagerty You guys did Lube the piston and cylinder right? Hard to tell in the time lapse video. I always over Lube stuff :)
i love yours vidios, pls up more videos with the motorcycles !!!!!!!
Концовка Огонь!!!!)))))))))))))))
Thats such a badass bike. Great job! 👍
Hahaha.....Perfect ending.
The end was hilarious :'D
NewNick :p
I was like ahw yeah! Until I saw that snow. Then it was ahw now way!
😂😂😂
Only thing worse than the snow.....the oil!! (Not really a Pennzoil fan)
Simply put, Redline Rebuilds are the best videos on RUclips.
Oh yeah?
Search for Breast Exam or Pelvic Exam.
If you're at least 18 and in the US.
It's the video quality and editing that sets them apart. Plus no stupid talking just some nice background music.
@@KAZVorpal Haha ok pervert
All motorcycle and car shows need to be like this! You get all that you need with no shop drama!
This is what I call pure engineering. I wish I have that motorcycle. You should be proud you have this skill.
You CAN have it! You might have to shell out 5 or 6 grand though.
Bike looks great. You got me when the garage door opened, I felt so let down...like you did.
Simple, clean & elegant. That's lovely.
Not a HD fan in general, but agreed, that's a beautiful ride.

Love the simplicity of the bike. You guys did an amazing job! The subtle pin striping really makes it cool.

Ha .. guess building bikes is a little different in other states, more dramatic in say NY
Amercan chopper Lol XD
@@timvanderstarre9021 ha yeah that's the one, was a ok show when it started then got silly!..
No doors with massive holes punched through them either
Yes, what a pleasure to watch this instead of that "other" show.

4:20 Who was thinking that he would go through that snow
Lol
Should have just went for it
Yea I bet chains on them sneakers woulda done it.
Heh I know I thought about it.... For a second😆😆😆😆
With a few hunderd spikes.
Don't laugh, I've done it on my 1971 Ironhead Sportster. Wrap a rope through the rear wheel like a tire chain.
This is something that I would love to watch as a 3-4 part series of around 20 minutes each! That would be awesome
This guy is an awsome mechanic !

Nicolas - Thank you very much !
That is the nicest look Sportster I've ever seen. Well done.
Been waiting for this so long.
Hope it didn't disappoint!
how long?
Hagerty It really didn't! 😂
Man that was one beet piston
Yep it ate a valve for breakfast.
Hammered man!
More carbon build up in that thing than the upper atmosphere during the past century.
I dread to think what my piston looks like...
@@vector6977 man it sure did damn

amazing job guys!!
Iron American Dream on RUclips.
That was a tasty video. You did that bike a big favor. You gave it all sorts of extra love. Ride on.
That bike looks so cool, glad you went and painted it properly and kept the original drum brake.
Love the ending. It’s tough being a biker up here in the northern reaches of the Wolverine State!
I wondered what happened to this bike... It's great to finally see it back in one piece!
This is a helluva video production!! And,and the builder is a badass!!!!! The “New Mexico Spaniard “
thank you for getting rid of that accident waiting to happen front end and I especially like your ending !
Shakedown let down. Davin waits for spring. Mouthwatering bike.
That rebuild of the engine in its entirety speed up was epic. I really enjoyed watching it...
Brings back memories of using a crow bar and a 2x4 to compress my 900 71 clutch springs. AMC pos needed to adjust the tappets every couple hundred miles and a tear down every couple years.
I was never really into things like motorcycles and cars until I discovered this channel only 2 weeks ago. Great stuff!
That bike is great. Good to see a simple custom bike.
Can we just respect the fact that IT SHOOTS FIRE!!
That fire in the bike remember me Harley Davidson's first engine making👌😘😘
Mike
Different bars and headlight, and u have an ace for sure!
Is there anything this dude cant rebuild? lol. Lovin this time lapse stuff, keep it up!
The Buick Nailhead 8. Just look at it still going on with repairs about a week before I make this comment.
That can change a week from now however.
The essence of a petrol head. Amazing work. Your channel is getting me through COVID. Hello from Melbourne Australia.
I could watch that a 100 more times. Awesome build.

You made my day when that garage door opened ;-). Exactly what I lived though for many years - but that's Canada for you.
Amazing rebuilt in just 4 mins? Imagine what they can do in 1 hour!
HAGERTY MAKES THE BEST REBUILD TIMELAPSE VIDEO. EVER. EVER. EVER.
Amazingly awesome video showing how snow sucks!!
If i didt know better i whould think theese guys knew what they where doing!
Amazing bike, amazing handcraftship, well done.
Damn! I want a making of of this footage. Those timed rigs must be awesome!
One of these days we'll find some time for a BTS video! In the meantime, we already have 4 engines queued up for the Redline Rebuild treatment!
I second that. I’m really curious about the video production.
I’m in the same thought - the time lapse rig - can you share the details? It really makes the video nice. Good job guys! Clay
Timing is everything. (loved the ending, reminded me of rebuilding my own bikes during the winter, back in the day)
You are a Master craftsmen sir! I have so much respect and admiration for you.
Beautiful work.
Cheers from 🇨🇦
The ending scene was funny
Had a beauty 69 ironhead almost like this one . Love the part where you ooen the door . felt that a few times in the last 2 weeks
The end was hilarious :'D

The passion you put on the engines is notorious. Congratulations bro, greetings from Buenos Aires, Argentina!
Such a stunning bike a real classic gem
Being snowed in myself right now, I enjoyed the hell out of this video.
Looks and runs much better! Great job!
You guys would totally win the Battle of the Kings!

Man that bike sounds great. Good look as well. Thanks for the update.
The exhaust design which is seperate for two cylinders is so cool well done to all the crew😍😍😍😍😍😘

Davin is the master. A true talent.
All that work for a sportster? That's true dedication to the craft.
Well, that explains. I was thinking a half day but, 4 minutes pretty much sums it up.
I don’t much like Harleys myself, but man is that a fantastic looking bike
57, детство только начинается)))
Wicked video as always! Thanks for sharing in all the hard work and end results!!!
Now that's what we call a piece of Artwork.
My God I wish I could get my hands on a bike like this to rebuild, maybe one day I'll find a Beauty that needs some love...
Davin, as the Millennials like to say, you got skills!!
American dream never dies, it just gets more shiny.
Love the humorous ending ;)
That bike is beautiful! Wish I had it!
Those long forks gave it that iconic easy rider look, shoulda kept em
Nice work dude !

Thank you for being a fan! Greetings from the USA!
XLCHs Rule! Loved that.
Loved the ending!
That a gorgeous looking iron head, would love to rebuild/customize old bikes.
That piston was hammered on top!
Wow, my last HD rebuild took me 3 months. never thought it could be done in 4 minutes.

Outstanding work, beautiful result.
Do more bikes. I needed this.
Wrap a rope through the rear wheel like a tire chain and go for it. Sportster in the snow is fun.
Bet that's a blast to ride!!!
Real cool, don't know how many times I've did that. Yearly back when I was riding my sporty.
My jaw dropped when I seen the top of that piston. Just wow.
This horse's on fire!!!
Excellent job man! I'm talking about the rebuild AND the video. That was cool beyond words.
