Nice!!! Worked perfect copying exactly what you did. I bought this same universal craftsman remote years ago but couldn’t figure out for the life of me to get it to program. I don’t really use the garage door much so it never bothered me. Works now! Hell ya
Thank you!!! One night I conquered the MYQ wifi reconnect and last night thanks to you re-pairing my remotes. (it didn't have the bottom on the back so that part was skipped) now maybe tonight the outside remote.ha
All the other videos just told you how to do the simple one press the button on the garage door opener then press the button on the remote doesn't work on mine finally I found this one thank you very much
We've got the old style remote and I've had a replacement in reserve for AGES. Today we had to use it for the first time (the old one fell apart and this time wouldn't go back together). A different video didn't help at all but yours was great. Thank you!
This video saved me money I was so frustrated with my remote not working I was about to replace the whole thing until I tried it with your instructions worked on the second try thank you so much
I’m trying to help my friend program the same Craftsman remote that you showed in the video (1st one) I followed the directions exactly as the printed ones and yours (which were easier to follow.) It would not work. I tried it several times. Then I thought I’d messed it up because I had pushed the buttons so many times. The other thing is the directions didn’t say anything about a little green light near the learn button. The light was green when I started. When I pushed the learn button the green light started flashing on and off (didn’t stop even after the steps were done) and the door still wouldn’t open. Same sequence, same result. My learn button was green so I clicked the remote tab 4 times and then a different one to end program. I was so confused by then. I watched several videos, and they all had such a simple 3 step process. Now I know why those videos didn’t help because the remote I have requires the number of clicks to correspond to the color. One video said to hold the learn button down until the green light turned off to reprogram a remote. I tried that and then started over again. Still nothing. Note: the garage door worked perfectly, but because my friend had dropped/cracked her original remote it would work sometimes, but not others. I even tried calling Craftsman’s 800 number. That was almost laughable because not one of the 4 very limited options had anything to do with help for a garage door opener. 😊Now I’ve created a bigger problem because when we quit (gave up) for the night she manually closed the door. I asked her to try her old remote. Nothing. She tried to use her keyless keypad for the garage door. Nothing. I didn’t realize that she even had a keypad, but apparently I erased both the remote and the keypad?? It was all so frustrating. She didn’t know where the key to the garage door handle was. Door’s locked, no remotes work. We both wanted to cry. I went home feeling terrible. She’s going to look for the key. I wish I could figure out what to do to make the openers work.
Wow I’m so sorry you are having big time trouble with this. with the light just flashing on and off could possibly be the sensors are not aligned properly. When you get the door back open, take a look at that. Also, if there is a hardwired pad that should always work, even if the sensors are not aligned. Best of luck 🤞
Thank you man. It was really helpful. I have craftman 1/2 H.P made in 1991. I tried different ways to programm my remote. What's working for me: I press ones yellow button on motor, next press and hold small button inside remote so the blue light comes on, then press many times one of button on my remote till door starts working. Not sure I can repeat these steps again.
Thank you so much for this video! I bought a universal remote for my old Craftman garage door and the instructions were not good at all! You took me step by step and I was able to program my remote in no time! Thank you!
A little late to this video but craftsman instructions did not help. Steps were out of sequence so I thought I did something wrong. Thanks for the video, once I saw to hit learn first then program, the rest went easy.
Right, just like the other people said. The instructions are wrong, I was getting pissed. So I followed ur video & it worked 1st time! You’re a simple genius, or (a genius of simple things) Curtis in Florida.
I’m trying to get mine to work. My learn button is black but has a red led light. How many times should I push my craftsman remote? Same exact model as you
Ok I don’t see any videos with a black button. But… the purple button looks black go back to my video at the 2:30 mark and I explain how to program the purple button opener. Press the program button twice with the purple learn button. Let me know if this helps. Thanks
How do I get both wall mounted keypad and remote to stay programmed at the same time? As soon as I programmed the remote the keypad need ti be reset and vice versa.
I have not ever had that problem. The wall mount that I have is hard wired to the system. Sorry I don’t have an answer for you at this time. If I find a solution I’ll respond to you again.
dunno if anyone gives a shit but if you're bored like me during the covid times then you can watch all the new movies on instaflixxer. Have been binge watching with my gf during the lockdown :)
If you have a wall mounted remote, press and hold the small button a few seconds. The light will flash rapidly. This shows it’s locked. Do the reverse to unlock. I think it only works if you have a wall mounted remote though.
@@grassymitten5324 thanks, I'll try. I just want to be able to lock it from the outside with the remote. Not sure if that's possible. I may just have to mount a padlock on or something. I don't want it to accidentally open, as it opens to an alleyway, and this morning is was wide open, even though I made sure it was shut last night. It's like it has a mind of it's own
If the remote opener and garage code box both stopped working at same time but the button to push on wall inside garage still works, does that mean it is something wrong internally with garage door opener itself? Tried new batteries, new remote opener and followed instructions exactly but while yours flashes or clicks twice to let you know it's programmed, mine does nothing.
Sorry for taking so long to get back to you. I’ve never had this problem. From what I’m reading it could be a couple things. The mother board is bad. Or if you replaced the original bulbs with led bulbs on the unit, they can cause signal interference. Your wall mount is hard wired to the unit, that’s why it is still working. That’s all I have on this issue. Best of luck and thanks for watching and commenting.
If it is going up that means the remote is programmed. Which is good. There may be an issue with the sensors causing it not to close. The sensors have to be perfectly aligned or it won’t shut with the remotes. Hope this helps.
@@grassymitten5324 it’s will be closed w the button from inside the garage door np but won’t work w the remote but both of mine sensor are solid green and orange
The wall mounts are hardwired that’s why they are working. When you try the remote does the light flash on the garage door opener? If so it’s more than likely a signal issue

Learned yesterday that the batteries in the remote are placed Positive + side up while the one in the sensor, which is placed on your door, is placed in Positive + side down...these directions are imprinted inside the respective items.

The color of your button on the actual opener determines how many times you need to press the button on the remote. Around the 2:20 mark is where I explain the other learn buttons. Hope this helps. Let me know how it goes. Thanks
