Wish they would add audio only for free, when I use Twitch like 80-90% of the time i’m in audio only mode. I just switch over for the really good stuff, but esports, Hasan, lofi, I listen to a lot of live streams more than I watch. Won’t pay for YTs service to get it either, that’s too much money for one basic feature. (for me anyways)
@@JohrDinh yeah I think them adding it for live streams at least would be pretty good. I don’t see them giving it to videos for free tho ever due to ads.
Honestly, as a small twitch streamer I think it's still better to stick to twitch and grow on youtube through videos. Once a viewer base is made on youtube is when I would move to YTLive. I feel spreading out would be better when you're small just because twitch is more known for the live aspect and it's more likely to get the click.
If I looked up the right person on Twitch, you have nearly 40x the number of subscribers on YT than you have followers on Twitch. 3x the number of viewers with 40x the number of followers isn't indicative of the superiority of YT.
The thing that I worry about the most when moving over to streaming on RUclips is how to share your videos and streams on the same channel without hurting your streams when posting or visa versa. I may be behind and that’s already been handled but back when I streamed on RUclips this was an issue.
I was multi streaming for a little while. Noticed the very things you mentioned about FB and YT. Twitch had it's moments on select titles, however, my biggest surprises were on FB in terms of unexpected increases in viewership. Because I only used multi stream to make my determination of which platform to go with, I eventually settled on YT exclusively. My reasoning: 1) Use of Thumbnails 2) Tags 3) Keywords 4) One-stop shop, VODs and Lives all in one spot for viewing, along with the other social features that have been added. Why not FB? The organic reach on posts in general was dreadful. Pay to play for boosting was a common theme. Not quite like the old days on FB, where you could post something and it would actually get served to people who liked the page.
@@SpiralFlip I did narrow it down to both for a while. After mixer shut down. But I realized that the discoverability for my personal strategy was on RUclips. FB is excellent if you stick to a title that’s popular and stream consistently, along with all the other strategies that are needed to make it work. RUclips produces “recommended” results and tag results that just keep rolling in organic views. Something FB just doesn’t offer unless you’re streaming to a growing audience.
The beginning of this vid was like a fat kid discussing his plan to eat the biggest, tastiest cake he has ever seen. The enthusiasm was electric. That’s why im here. :)
Probably my favorite video you’ve made! Amazing research, educated conjecture, and mapped out for short-to-long term. It also helped me plan out a bit as a 100-viewer streamer. Thanks for your work Devin!
My average view view duration on Twitch: 1.5 hrs on a 2 hr stream with 53 avg viewers AVD on RUclips for the same stream Is 5 min with 250 avg viewers. Viewing habits on both platforms are very different.
@@VitaminDelicious yeah this was a good point, could you explain? Are RUclips viewers more likely to just watch for a second and leave? While twitch viewers stay longer?
I think that’s because of two things: Interface and choice of device. Many people use mobile devices to watch youtube while only a third of that is for twitch. Since most are on PC they have the ability to leave the stream on, a privilege youtube dosent have
Hey Devin! About 4 years ago we were the highest-membered channel on YT Gaming. At the time, talking to their live team was a nightmare at the time. We had chats full of new members and superchats, and were constantly buried behind Fortnite and Cod players with 0 support from huge audiences. They didn't understand the quality vs. Quantity/conversion rate importance and we ended up leaving for twitch, as the YT team EMBEDDED into the problem that Ryan talks about alleviating. Wild to see they are going to try to fix this problem - might have to hit them up!
Great video. Couldn't agree more with the points here, especially Twitch's garbage mentality about keeping their partners exclusive. 7+ year Twitch partner, and cannot wait until January to be free ;]
i hope you really do your diligence about it, because imo this video, and almost no video ever tells you about the most important thing for content creators, money. imo the reason massive decline on youtube is because at that time streamers comparing their revenue on twitch and youtube and they all agree that twitch revenue is much better, they have prime, gifted subs, bounty, about page panels, the gamer culture etc. dr disrespect even though has about the same numbers viewers said that he only make about quarter that he make on twitch, valk leaked rev on des 2020 "only" about 176K, its her total in des, month with highest cpm, at the height of among us, and she just won streamer of the year. im sure many twitch streamer about the same viewers like her makes much bigger number, like mizkif said he makes about 500k in april 2021 due to many bounty he did imo, dont ever make business decision because of emotional thingies
@@gundul6478 In terms of easily accessed revenue numbers directly from viewers that's probably accurate but what you don't see about Rae is how much she has done in terms of merchandising and building her brand which she could not have done nearly as effectively on Twitch(I realise she can grow on RUclips while streaming on Twitch but still) and has undoubtedly made her more than whatever she gets on donations irrespective of the platform.
RUclips's approach with using a recommendation system is definitely better for discoverability overall. However, I think it would still be convenient and nice to have an actual directory to see what categories of live content are out there on RUclips and for people who want to intentionally look for live content.
@Andreas Sagen It looks like it was designed in 2008. Everything about the UI is bad, and you cant even find this "directory" easily. Its also not new. Theyve changed nothing about their streaming UI in years.
@Andreas Sagen How would i find irl , cooking , music , podcast . just chatting and more types of streams. i Dont really watch people who just play fps or one type of game..
Social Media Management student from the UK, and I can tell you I learn more about not only the current state of livestreaming but more about its potential future movement here, than I do for the ridiculous course I'm paying for, thank you so much for these videos Devin. A lot of information that people would never have access to otherwise.
Devin. You are correct. We have barely grown on Twitch but on YT we went from 760ish subs to almost 7k since Feb. I love it cause I can do shorts, long form vids, and stream all in one spot. It's been great on YT. Moving from Twitch over to YT. It's a longer play but I think in the end worth it. Great video.
I made it to the end, it's crazy how when you get excited and as I'm listening to the video as a podcast I start getting excited and I'm not even a content creator, I just love having a front row seat and watching everything change, it's so exciting much love keep doing what your doing
Great video, Devin. It's really important to see these stats in context. A lot of people, like me, who are still trying to grow are trying to make sense of this so that we make the right decision for our future. I had moved to RUclips, but moved back to Twitch because I was missing the interactive features offered to a small streamer. The ability to get real time notifications for followers, the ability to be raided. Community building things that RUclips didn't seem keen on offering. But the brand I am trying to build is with RUclips and II know that the move is inevitable. Just trying to figure out when that move will be.
Amazingly well thought out and researched video man, keep up the great work, I’m super excited for the waves RUclips will make in the live-streaming space these next couple of years 👌🏻😈
as a twitch streamer, this gave me LOTS of food for thought - and you didn't even touch on the smaller brand new streaming platforms like Trovo and Glimesh. I will be mulling this over for sure.
You know Devin means business when he brings that notepad out. Lol I love digging into these analytical discussion videos. So much juicy info, I'm happy that you are pumping out amazing consistent content on YT Devin 💪
Watched this on the way to work, in my break and when I got home. Made it to the end! Very excited to be on RUclips for streaming, can't wait to see what the future holds.
Made it all the way to the end, this was such a good video. I feel a weird sense of loyalty to twitch having streamed there since 2014 but i think maybe I’m starting to consider more and more the options avail to switch. RUclips seems like the best option long term, it just sucks that affiliate perks help someone like me so much with a small but VERY generous community. RUclips monetization is hard when you are smaller. Thanks for making this one man.
Hi Devin! I made it to the end of the video. Probably my first time leaving a comment. I truly appreciate all the work you do and I'm glad you're in this space and enthusiastically sharing your wisdom. I'm 31 and transitioning from teaching in Higher Education to RUclips/streaming to connect my two passions: gaming and learning. Thank you for your free content. I'm subscribed, video is liked, and I've joined your Discord. :)
Until RUclips fixes it’s overlays and chat it’s not overtaking anything IMO. RUclips is far bigger then twitch. RUclips’s chat is like unreadable, hurts to read. They HAVE to change it I don’t know why they don’t thats my biggest complaint. It just looks ugly.
I made it trhough the vid! ;P I originally started my RUclips channel to crate an audience that I can bring to Twitch. But now I am not so sure about where I want to stream anymore c,c (I haven't started streaming yet, so the decision is even more important)
The stat I am most interested in, is how many new viewers Twitch saw during Q1 2020. It makes total sense that viewership was up during that time, but how much of that is the same people just watching more than normal?
Devin, I watched it all. All of it. Ate it up. I've gone from "never again" livestreaming to "maybe to supplement my D&D videos." Solid info again, and huge shout out to the discord.
I could see the new RUclips gaming live algorithm using a lot of audio information from broadcasts to recommend other broadcasters. Would love to hear your thoughts on how you think they could create a good algorithm for live content. I feel like machines could track the audio signal of something you’re watching, the volume levels, how often volume levels are peaking, and give you recommendations based on how reactionary the creators are, how loud and high energy their broadcasts are, or how chill and quiet they are, or if they’re a mix.
They don’t actually need to look at audio. Just knowing viewing habits and similarities between users is enough to get the algorithm going for the most part.
Im just wondering why do people fell off in terms of normal video views after streaming on youtube. i have seen 20+ 1mill youtube go to basically nothing in views
My interest in this subject has really peaked. I've binge watched all your videos, Harris Heller's, Amongold's and numerous other creators all detailing the differences and the future of each live streaming platform. I couldn't help but join the discord too as this is just so addicting and I want to know more. I also think that these sort of videos you guys are producing will help cultivate a culture for RUclips in themselves as it'll most likely sway a lot of creators towards these platforms based on each of your analyses. Being a smaller partnered streamer experiencing the woes of Twitch first hand and my small growth coming from mostly RUclips I can wholeheartly agree with everything I've watched from you all. The future is RUclips.
“Got this far” 👍 Devin, I started in April as a hobby and was streaming to both RUclips and Twitch. When I got the opportunity to become affiliated, all my friends just said “go twitch”….. how long until the culture on RUclips gets established so that my friends see the benefits you talk about in your videos? I couldn’t convince them RUclips was the place to be, and we were all too excited to get our Sub Emotes etc. With every video you make, (the algorithm clearly working btw), I’m wondering should I have stuck to my guns.
Great video as usual, but a quick note about the exclusivity thing, they won't suspend people for it, they never did for it and in the current context it would set a terrible precedent. Usually for partners who break that clause they might lose some extra partnership benefits such as the 70/30 or 60/40, front page slots, and other things like that, and possibly at worst lose partnership. But they do not ban people for it, as for affiliates no affiliates ever got punished for breaking that clause so far
Watched the whole thing; started my first RUclips stream the other day, and it was great, nearly tempted to leave Twitch entirely, but, I'll do both for now. This is a great video Devin, please keep em coming.
RUclips making a push for a big names in streaming is the tidal wave I’ve been waiting to see in the creator space. RUclips is positioning itself to be the King of ALL content creation, and it’s going to be cool to watch/see. 👀
A monopoly is never a good thing, healthy competition drives innovation. I don't think it's cool, it's just disappointing that Twitch is dropping the ball so badly.
@@xInfiniD I agree a monopoly isn’t a good thing. But Twitch just seemingly doesn’t care. They haven’t innovated in years, and they dance around policy. Now on top of that it’s filled with racial discrimination and hate. On top of hoarding the profiting generated by subs and bits to affiliates, while not allowing others to re-stream its small pp energy at best. RUclips only takes 30% of dono’s and subs, is working on improving they’re streaming atmosphere, and offers discoverability to EVERYONE from the smallest streams to the largest ones. Once they make a few more changes they’ll rightfully hold the throne until a worthy competitor comes with some innovation, or at least cares for their community. Which is how it should be.
@@pitching definitely understand that complaint, but no one can say they’ll never do it because we don’t work there. RUclips supposedly had a lot in the works so I’m hopefully that means new features too.
@@pitching raiding statistically has a small conversion rate, arguably low enough to not even desire to create the feature on the platform. It’s a super kind feature that’s allows others to share some love to other streamers, but more often than not it doesn’t typically go hand and hand with the growth of the one receiving the raid. (Unless they really perform/impress the audience they receive.) Clips work as mini sharables, you clip, you get the link, you share it. I think it would be helpful for those to know I look at streaming as a secondary form of content creation, and I think RUclips sees it this way too. The way streams are trending they’re more likely to be an extension of a creator instead of the “main event” itself. We can see this based on the data on the way TimTheTatman, and Asmongolds edited videos perform and are viewed in comparison to their streams. While some people only watch streams the vast majority watch more videos than streams. Based on entertainment value, time available, and how quickly you’re able to get to “the good parts”. Some may disagree, but even the biggest creators are acknowledging streaming comes second to VODS and short form content. RUclips makes streamers more discoverable than Twitch. But being a streamer doesn’t have the long term viability as being a content creator that also streams, and it seems RUclips is doubling down on that.
This is by far the best video Devin, the craziest thing is that I have videos that were 3 years ago and it is still get watched but my stream on Twitch is a joke unless I have people that know me. This will have me rethink my channel and create a better package to present to the people. I think making a better package in one place and have it organized is much better and it can stay on the RUclips platform for as long as that channel is alive. I do look at Facebook but it has too many questions to fill in and that is what turns me off.
Devin it would be a shame to not watch your videos in full length. it´s like a school class for creators and we all want to learn more, and right now you provide the most value :) keep it coming
I really do think RUclips will boom for the better while Twitch streaming will decline. It may not be rapid, but it's hard not to for see it happening. Your ad analysis video and the twitch hate raid video also touches upon this, Twitch hasn't been building long term intelligently and we the viewer or the streamer is starting to realize it. Twitch at this point is becoming a martyr of streaming. This transition of streaming and content creation will be big. Thank you so much for your in depth videos as they truly resonate with me!
@@MythionVR I watch some RUclipsrs livestream and they do get hit with the raid bots a lot spamming the N word and other things so it does already happen. I don't stream on youtube so not sure if there is a subscriber only chat option.
@@wearejungians Sure, but they aren't anywhere near as frequent as on Twitch. I'm saying it doesn't happen enough to the point where it's a rampant issue right now, like it seems to be on Twitch. It'll eventually be just as much of an issue if/when RUclips does more with their streaming service.
@@MythionVR ah you are right! I was more referring to at the end of devin nash's video "Hate Raids on Twitch" where he says that the problem lies with Twitch allowing gambling and sexualized content which actually impacts the other streamers whose CPM's are being driven down, their ad revenues are going down, etc. and then this problem arises and adds to the more faults that Twitch already is as a platform!
Devin would be interesting to hear your thoughts on the rumor/myth that uploading VODs and streaming on the same channel can hurt overall channel performance in the long run due to the algorithm.
I really really like the twitch community, the whole thing is just fascinating and amazing. It really saddens the living bejesus out of me seeing these kind of videos that are more than on point. That are true, that are sadly the way the whole brand is headed. Thank you for making this video Devin. Looking forward to the next one when Summit and Lirik sing over lol.
I just had to say but I was recently going through RUclips and it actually recommended me a Genshin Impact streamer with only 2 viewers. Sure I didn't stick around but the fact I was recommended a small streamer at all is staggeringly impressive.
RUclips Gaming still hasn't proved anything until people move over without being paid. This is on the same level as someone buying a viewbot. Streamers will always see an initial increase upon the "big move", but it's about sustained viewership, which went to shit on Mixer. Will be interesting to see if viewership matches or exceeds the CCV these streamers had on Twitch.
Hey there Devin. What an awesome video! I watched the whole way through dude. It amazes me how every time you have a new video and it's super long (20+ minutes) I think to myself "Oh boy this is gonna take a while", but you are SO GOOD at presenting and explaining everything in your videos that I hardcore get into it, and the time flies by. I love everything you do man! Also you are my favorite person on the Scuffed Pod. It's not even close.
I have one question for you that you didn't cover here: What would be your insights on whether one should make a separate YT channel for their live streams if they're already established on RUclips for their VODs? Is it a dead yes or no, or are there more factors to consider? I'm considering shifting to RUclips from Twitch but don't know if streaming to this channel is a better idea or if it would be better to use a livestream-specific channel and use this one for edited/catered VOD content.
Good question. Devin has made a separate channel for his raw streams so i can only assume that would be his answer. However, that always seemed odd to me. If the branding between a stream & an edited video are clear enough, I'm curious why that wouldn't be an attractive option. I suppose if a channel becomes known for one or the other and the end user keeps seeing vids of the 'opposite' content they could be put off. Either way edited made for VoD content is the key. I think the 'streamer only' path are either for the very lucky, very gifted and/or first people on the space.
@@LihimSidhe Might have to do with the fact that maybe RUclips will count VODs on the channel the same way it counts usual videos. And even if really nice, not everyone will watch a 3+ hour long VOD as much as a 15 min vid which makes it very bumpy for the channel algorithm (if the algorithm counts them)
@@jadenanjara unlist the stream VODs so they don't appear on your channel then put the unlisted VODs in a public playlist. So the VODs only show in 1 playlist.
@@traplover6357 this is what I did. Not that I'm a big content creator but Harris Heller suggested it as that's what he did w/his channel. He unlists all his streams but you can view them in a public playlist. I have multiple playlists for different games. I just took his cue.
THIS excites me for the future of content. As a streamer on Twitch, been thinking of a gradually push on YT to get ahead of the inevitable turn. Thanks for the info Devin 👏
I think RUclips has been pretty great at enabling certain streaming communities to be successful. I'd love to hear your opinion on the Hololive streamers. They've been massively successful over the past 2 years on youtube and the platform heavily pushes their livestreams in the recommended section of their subscribers
I had watched the "Never become an Affiliate on Twitch" video 2 years after I became an Affiliate... but even back then I found it odd that if you're saying that someone can't multi-stream, at least offer more than a 50/50 revenue split for an exclusivity contract. Now, as an Affiliate they allow you to re-post content elsewhere after 24 hours. But, even still... my contract is up next February and guess what I'll be planning for around then?... I challenge Twitch to do better. Thanks for your content, Devin. Appreciate the insights.
Saw the news and instantly got hype and couldn't wait for you to talk about it. Side note, would love to hear what you think of fighting games as an eSport and how they struggle to get a huge audience compared to other eSports. Positive vibes, Nash.
Thank you again for this video. I felt this all 2 years ago and now the rock is rolling and I‘m curious where that all lead us to. If you look close enough and watch the scene and development of this whole picture you can see very early what’s coming. Great explanations, stats and enjoyable to watch. Thank you Devin. I‘m mostly a quiet watcher, but I wanted to leave a comment this time.
I can’t help feeling that this is just what you want to happen. You’re trying to explain away a load of stats based on “YT did it on purpose” or “the streamers had done their hours for the year.” In the grand scale of YT game live-streaming is nothing. When I go to YT it shares videos with me, it doesn’t promote livestreams at all. Videos keep bums on seats and in the site for them and seeing more ads too. Live streaming is not going to be a vehicle for ad revenue like videos are. You seem to think YTs algorithm is the best thing ever and how smart they are. Meanwhile every YTer ever has been chasing that algorithm for years, tailoring titles and thumbs etc cursing it. My money on the reason why the views went down is because they started ramming shorts down everyone’s throats and that was where the focus went. You seem to just want this to happen and are saying things to excuse the stats in front of you. Twitch does have some work to do btw. They need the competition IMO.
I just really like the UI of Twitch I have live-streamed as a VodCast on RUclips for over two years but when I am gaming streaming with my streamdeck and streamelements everything just flows with Twitch.
"Watch to The End" Club Member here Always love your videos and insights. As a newer creator on Twitch, videos like yours and Harris' really make me think I should give streaming on YT a try. And since I'm not an affiliate, there's absolutely zero downside.
I'm taking a statistics class and I haven't taken a math class is almost 3 years. Not only did you make me interested in learning statistic quicker then my teacher, but you also taught me a ton about statistics. Thank you for making this video I loved it!
Made it to the end. Already subscribed. Found you last week. I am a popular Paint n Sip host/artist in the Bay Area. I have a small following for my live events and on social media (about 3-5000). Besides all the doom and gloom n whatnot, Thank you for your time and energy you put into doing this, For us, ..for you. 👊💥
These videos are always super interesting to watch and listen carefully. I watched the entire video without skipping anything and I'm glad that I did! I'm one of those
Thanks a lot for making this video, I appreciate the input based on real data & statistics. One thing I want to add to twitch's interaction with the community is their support system: you feel like you're talking to a robot. They have predefined messages that they send as a reply and no matter what you say, they still won't talk to you. I recently had 2 minutes of my VOD muted and it wasn't supposed to be, so I contacted them 3 times in 15 days before my VOD expired and they didn't help. I also used the Appeal button from the VOD and it was pending till 1 day before expiration when they marked it as resolved, but nothing actually changed. So, I was extremely disappointed and upset at them. It's very sad when you cannot talk to anyone to get a simple help.
Loved the video Devin. I’ve been streaming on Twitch as an affiliate since 2017 but since the recent movements to RUclips Gaming and just my general curiosity I’ve been debating on multistreaming on Twitch RUclips and Facebook. I think the video finally convinced me to cancel my affiliate contract which I’m going to fill out right after this. I love all the insight and stats you bring to it. Amazing work.
Excellent content Devin, as a long time RUclips creator with a Twitch channel on the side, the market has been incredibly interesting to think about lately. Good stuff.
Commenting as requested for getting past that 46 minute mark. This is fantastic content. I have so many conversations with creators who honestly do not understand the bigger picture, which you so intelligently lay out. Thanks for that, Devin, and I look forward to the next one!
I never really watch 30+ minute long videos.. but I finished this one until the end. Amazing stuff Devin! I moved to RUclips since June as well! Little growth so far but better than zero growth on Twitch!✊🏽
I love how deep Devin gets into the data behind his videos. I've streamed a bit on Twitch and rarely get people pop in to my stream. So with all of the recent things happening I'm going to be trying out RUclips gaming and possibly even Facebook to see how different that turns out for me.
Thanks Devin, I watched the whole way through and it's really interesting. I'm a small streamer that's been struggling with the twitch vs RUclips thing for a year or so now. I've been following you and Alpha Gaming talking about these topics for a while. I think it's time to try restreaming to RUclips and see how that feels and consider moving over entirety. Again thanks for the stats and the notepad, appreciate everything you do for us.
Made it to the point in the video where you asked us to let you know. I appreciate your insights so much. I've started a job in marketing as an intern, moving to director in a couple of months. Your insights in this space help me tremendously.
Love having your videos on while I'm at work, makes me think alot of how I want to do things when I get home to stream. I'm really going to look into multistreaming and see where that goes. Love all your videos Devin!
Thanks for all the stats Devin. Watching from Ghana. Ive been subbed since last year. I appreciate what you present for us lil guys trying to grow. I think you a blessing. Thanks and keep up the good work. Much love.
Great points in this video! As a 20 viewer streamer on twitch, with a much bigger following, here on RUclips, I'm seriously considering using my 2nd channel for livestream. Twitch isn't the only place to stream anymore, and I feel RUclips is going to take better care of us, the creators! ;-)
The biggest driving point for this whole vid is profitability. Regardless of how great Twitch's feature set is for streamers, if they aren't generating profit, their time is limited. Excellent vid, and I did make it all the way through.
Everytime your videos come back to focus on my video timeline , I doubt you but you come with some good videos and subjects bro. Really appreciate you.
I've been watching your videos for a while now and though I don't always agree with you on certain points, you're nailing it overall and that's why I keep coming back. I appreciate the thorough and thoughtful efforts you put into creating content that better helps to illustrate, inform and educate on navigating the streaming space. Thanks for all you do and continue doing.
Your final point is the model I've been looking towards. I don't want to stream 10 hours a day or have streaming be the focus of my content creation but rather have it be part of a larger creator ecosystem that can push my content, whether it's a book or a course or my blog or as content I can clip to upload to my youtube or my subreddit and discord for my followers. Livestreaming is the direct engagement aspect I've been looking for and as a way to monetize the content-creation process that I eventually turn into full youtube videos. Now, being able to push this to RUclips and Facebook and Twitch (as a non-affiliate) simultaneously is an absolute gift for discoverability and building communities for my content. Thank you for this video.
thank you devin, i watched the whole video, and i was thinking, maybe the engagement has been so good given the timing of said videos, i mean the reasons for you getting excited to talk about these subjects definitely showcases why anyone would be excited to hear and learn and discuss these things, hope you're enjoying it as well as we are, looking forward to what the next years of content will look like.
Not sure if you’re aware, but I’d like to add - Twitch affiliates aren’t entirely bound exclusively to Twitch, according to their FAQ, we are allowed to stream to other platforms as well, as long as it’s not a concurrent view. Love the discussion, and being a baby creator on Twitch, this video is really making me want to give RUclips a proper shot. Thanks Devin!
You have made me rethink my whole streaming experience, I have been told in the past I'm a good Streamer, but being found is horrific. Love you content and always makes me rethink what I'm doing. Tho I have no idea how to create content, like RUclips content like this.

Is there a reason why you didn't continue streaming to both?
@@SpiralFlip I did narrow it down to both for a while. After mixer shut down. But I realized that the discoverability for my personal strategy was on RUclips. FB is excellent if you stick to a title that’s popular and stream consistently, along with all the other strategies that are needed to make it work.
RUclips produces “recommended” results and tag results that just keep rolling in organic views. Something FB just doesn’t offer unless you’re streaming to a growing audience.
It's so awesome watching your face light tf up when you mentioned STATS

Viewing habits on both platforms are very different.
This is my experience as well. RUclips viewers just arent the same as twitch viewers

@@VitaminDelicious What are the most noticible differences?
7+ year Twitch partner, and cannot wait until January to be free ;]
shady is it going to be challenging for you to have your yt subs watch you stream on yt you think?
i hope you really do your diligence about it, because imo this video, and almost no video ever tells you about the most important thing for content creators, money.
imo the reason massive decline on youtube is because at that time streamers comparing their revenue on twitch and youtube and they all agree that twitch revenue is much better, they have prime, gifted subs, bounty, about page panels, the gamer culture etc.
dr disrespect even though has about the same numbers viewers said that he only make about quarter that he make on twitch, valk leaked rev on des 2020 "only" about 176K, its her total in des, month with highest cpm, at the height of among us, and she just won streamer of the year. im sure many twitch streamer about the same viewers like her makes much bigger number, like mizkif said he makes about 500k in april 2021 due to many bounty he did
imo, dont ever make business decision because of emotional thingies
I completely agree with this! I like categories and miss them on YT! I don't understand why they don't make them as an option to select.

Dude I love how much Devin Nash we're getting as of late
EDIT: I made it too the end too, good vid (like always)
This is by far your best video, thank you for the insights

Great video, Devin. It's really important to see these stats in context. A lot of people, like me, who are still trying to grow are trying to make sense of this so that we make the right decision for our future. I had moved to RUclips, but moved back to Twitch because I was missing the interactive features offered to a small streamer. The ability to get real time notifications for followers, the ability to be raided. Community building things that RUclips didn't seem keen on offering. But the brand I am trying to build is with RUclips and II know that the move is inevitable. Just trying to figure out when that move will be.
I'll be keeping a close eye on RUclips in the coming months. Great breakdown Devin!
I did get that far and loved it! really helps keep me tuned in to what's going on across the board well letting me focus on content and brand stuff.
Amazingly well thought out and researched video man, keep up the great work, I’m super excited for the waves RUclips will make in the live-streaming space these next couple of years 👌🏻😈
Loving these frequent uploads! I watch them all to the end
as a twitch streamer, this gave me LOTS of food for thought - and you didn't even touch on the smaller brand new streaming platforms like Trovo and Glimesh. I will be mulling this over for sure.
You know Devin means business when he brings that notepad out. Lol I love digging into these analytical discussion videos. So much juicy info, I'm happy that you are pumping out amazing consistent content on YT Devin 💪
The funny thing is that Devin predicted this shift like over a year ago
This is my thought as soon as i watched first couple of minutes...
I really love how your videos after leaving Twitch have been uncut & raw, feels way more natural. Keep up the great content!
Considering moving into lifestreaming in the new year, this is absolutely helping to sway me

I made it trhough the vid! ;P
I originally started my RUclips channel to crate an audience that I can bring to Twitch.
@@onlyicedcoffee4145 example? I’m interested now
My interest in this subject has really peaked.
Devin: we have so many stats!
Me: Talk dirty to me and show me that notepad.
@@xInfiniD at least we are some form competition when it comes to streaming however Twitch is still the king of streaming
(Unless they really perform/impress the audience they receive.)
Clips work as mini sharables, you clip, you get the link, you share it.
35:50 😂😂
The hate raids will also happen on RUclips, it just doesn't because of how poor RUclips's live section is at the moment.
@@MythionVR I'm pretty sure YT already has a system against bots in chat but it's still in beta and only the bigger streamers have access to it
@@MythionVR I watch some RUclipsrs livestream and they do get hit with the raid bots a lot spamming the N word and other things so it does already happen.

Love the content Devin. what are your thoughts about Trovo Stream Platform?
What a great video. Watched the whole thing. The future is exciting!
Devin would be interesting to hear your thoughts on the rumor/myth that uploading VODs and streaming on the same channel can hurt overall channel performance in the long run due to the algorithm.
I heard they changed that part in the algo and it was fixed now. Not sure though
Wow, I remember the last video you did comparing the streaming platforms and viewer stats, a while back! It's neat to see how things are moving along
Will be interesting to see if viewership matches or exceeds the CCV these streamers had on Twitch.
they dont' care about that, youtube has ad revenue, video's , and also they signed contract. They want to spend more time with family.
@@dandyjandon4231 I fully support creators taking money from the corps, I'm more talking about the platform itself
@@dandyjandon4231 don't you have to have a certain amount of subs to get ad revenue? Won't that impact those that don't have the requirements?
Hey there Devin. What an awesome video! I watched the whole way through dude. It amazes me how every time you have a new video and it's super long (20+ minutes) I think to myself "Oh boy this is gonna take a while", but you are SO GOOD at presenting and explaining everything in your videos that I hardcore get into it, and the time flies by. I love everything you do man! Also you are my favorite person on the Scuffed Pod. It's not even close.
I have one question for you that you didn't cover here:
What would be your insights on whether one should make a separate YT channel for their live streams if they're already established on RUclips for their VODs?
@@jadenanjara I didn't think of that to be honest. I think a decent compromise is discussed with Traplover though.

I‘m mostly a quiet watcher, but I wanted to leave a comment this time.
I can’t help feeling that this is just what you want to happen. You’re trying to explain away a load of stats based on “YT did it on purpose” or “the streamers had done their hours for the year.”
In the grand scale of YT game live-streaming is nothing.

This video was so filled with hype and excitement! Lots to think about, even more to research. Thanks for taking the time, as always!
So much content lately love it! I watch basically all your videos right to the end now haha. Extremely informative keep it up!
thank you devin, i watched the whole video, and i was thinking, maybe the engagement has been so good given the timing of said videos, i mean the reasons for you getting excited to talk about these subjects definitely showcases why anyone would be excited to hear and learn and discuss these things, hope you're enjoying it as well as we are, looking forward to what the next years of content will look like.
