    Hang in there kid. 35 years of trucking & I still go thru VERY tough times. Learn how to turn a wrench. I dont pay mechanics or tire guys. I do it myself. You could have done that turbo easily. Its a 2 hour job. You will quickly learn to put a few 100 dollars in the bank every week fir breakdowns & tires. Makes the bad days easier.

      Firm believer of PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE !
      When an air spring fails replace all four along with batteries , slack adjusters , brake chambers , and brake diaphragms . Purchase quality parts . Bendix air valves are the best . Peterbilt air springs are expensive but are quality . Load test batteries every 6 months , Group 31’s 925CCA last 3 years , 750 CCA’s last longer Replace belts , idler , and belt tensioners every 2 years . Service air drier and air compressor unloaded valve yearly . Carry an alternator in the truck . Grease weekly , change oil on time . Replace transmission , differential , and power steering oil every 2 years . Purchase all sensors of OEM manufacture .

    This is the struggle with running old cool equipment. Same boat here. When you see it at the end of the year you coulda made truck payments for the cost of maintenance and fuel savings. Don't ride it to the ground, you gotta know when to fold and regroup, no shame in that. I should take my own advice 😆Hang in there! Very difficult in the current environment.

    • @Hipno556
      @Hipno556 2 месяца назад +1

      if you know how to work on your own equipment, (as everyone should if they're going into business) my average yearly mechanical fees are about 10-15k som years lower. with a new truck you're paying that every 2 or 3 months lol especially with these prices. also fuel savings still cant warrant a new truck. my old 3406c peek motor still averages 6.9-7.5 mpg depending on how i drive it.

    • @banzaii6285
      @banzaii6285 2 месяца назад +1

      @@Hipno556 Well you're doing good. I do everything I can (except major engine work) if I can get it home, or catch it before it breaks. 04 3406E, 370's, 5 - 5.5, not grossed out all the time but not light either. A new truck with warrantee (yeah you still loose the down time), and 2 - 2.5 mpg more, would change my picture. But...too old to be buying a new truck, almost done, and I work when I want to, or have to 😆. I guess everyone's situation is different.

      @@brianhoppenrath8379 yes I hate to tell you but it does 😂 the mechanical fuel pumps and electronic fuel pumps are 2 very different designs. My fuel gauges are broken, so I determine when to fuel up based on my milage counter. I reset after every fuel up and manually check my mpg. Loaded both ways between 35-45k, average 5.5-6.2, loaded 1 way and dead head back for the same freight about 7 sometimes 8 on the dot. Most of my freight is dedicated, paying 5.50 to 6$ out so deadheading back is worth it.

    Man, I just completed the video and what happened is what I warned you about. That mechanic should have known that. I’d make him make good on that. Pisses me off. Also the vibration and ride height difference might be the rear spring hanger bushings have deteriorated. The big bolts on the air leaf spring. I had the same problem, tires wore fine but the ride height was off and had a vibration. Turned out to be the bushings. Not too bad to replace if you have tools. There are a few RUclips videos on how to do it.

Along your driveline, make sure your shafts between the Trans yoke and the front chunk is in a straight line. Adjust the airbags to linem up. If your joints are good, that should take care of the vibration. Cya later.

    Turn off the flashers. You've got the triangles out. Anyone who can help you with the cash? Family? Hers? Yours? One of those businesses you work for? Most guys don't have the show truck. Maybe they have a bigger cushion. I think you have to get the truck tightened up. Turbo, suspension, the headache rack and the duck. I'm serious. I was hoping the Turbo boot just came loose. That'll make a boom like a tire or airbag letting go. It's loose bits of the fin in the Turbo.

    The knock what you’re hearing at a slow speed when you’re going into a curve could very well be your U-bolt on the spring hanger front axle is loose. Tighten them up. They may be a 1/2 inch to 3/4 of an inch loose. I have to tighten mine up once a year. The vibration you’re feeling could be a bad tire. I have a lot of problems with that. Check your tires.
