This is a last minute trip to see my ailing grandma - who raised me. I would like to imagine that through her blessings I got this free ticket to go see her. As a result of this last minute planning I had the take the first available flights and it turned out to be Cleveland - Philly - LGA (overnight) - JFK - Dubai - Calcutta (India).
The Free Ticket
Earlier while flying from New York to Calcutta, India I was asked if I would sit out that flight and take one the following night. In turn they gave me a free round trip ticket for the same exact sector to be used within 12 months. So, I took this flight using that free ticket. I did not believe it would be "free" because there are always some hidden cost etc but to my amazement - I didn't have to pay a penny. No tax either! Thank you .
The Trip
This trip took me three days to complete. I had to physically go to the Emirates New York office to pick the ticket up so an extra day was used up. The Cleveland to Philly sector was uneventful but once in Philly we ran into a lot of problems with delays (as you will see). Delays upon touchdown to the gate, delays once we boarded the flight....however all this meant a beautiful approach over New York City.
We had by mistake washed the voucher for my free ride - so I was scared they won't accept it and issue me the ticket....but....
This video also covers the things I did while on the various flights and Dubai Airport including sleeping cubes, showers...sprawling across empty seats on A380 and more
This video is dedicated to the woman who raised me - my Mamoni, and I will forever miss her. Hope you enjoy the ride and see you all next time!

Lucky you! Looks awesome :)
Over the two years I have watched your videos, I cannot count how many times I have rewatched this series. If episodes 3-5 are half as good as these, we are all in for a treat. Great work sharing the joys of flight
I hope they'll be better! Thanks for nice words. Be well.
seatgurus Its like watching "a day in the life of" type documentary. Keep up the video uploading...
This is what got me into aviation RUclips
I've watched your brilliant videos countless times. I too love flying and can't wait for the 3,4,5th episodes. All the best
Ro, I hope you are well my friend. I genuinely love your videos and appreciate how much effort you put into making them. I am very much looking forward to your next long distance videos. Thanks from London!
I loved these two videos!! You have great tips and do a great job at showing what it feels like to do a long haul. Thanks!
Thank you for taking us with you. It's wonderful to be able to see some of the rest of the world through kind people who share the experience. God bless !
Thank you Rohan. I've really enjoyed your videos I've seen so far. It's generous of you to share your trips with us. You are great at showing details and giving hints that one would normally not get to see.
I really feel now that I've had the pleasure of flying with you (but even better, here I can press Pause anytime, and duck outside for a smoke. lol).
I've flown long flights (mainly Dunedin to Seattle) enough to appreciate the wisdom of many of your hints, some of which I'll definitely apply on my next flight. Thanx again mate. :-)
I think I've watched the two episodes at least fifty + times! I love flying and your videos are absolutely incredible! Would love to see more videos like this =)
I have watched this and the other part literally over 400 times.
im extending my condolences to you for your loss of your grandmother. i also would like to say that your music choices were perfect. i was glad i tuned in to watch your clips and hope that you can do more in the future.

Love the videos! Watching your video in anticipation of my 10 hour flight to Germany. I was a nervous flyer, but your videos have made me intrigued more so than scared for this long flight. Keep making these videos as i've watched them all!
Loved the turbo prop in video #1
A vicarious experience I enjoyed throughout! Thank you for sharing.
Great video! NYC at night was beautiful indeed. Thanks for sharing.
ro ... watching your two long haul episodes here has been getting me through a challenging time lately. It's like a security blanket as I move through it, you know? I share your passion and intrigue with commercial jet travel. Keep doing what you do. You have a really personal signature in your selection of shots and information. It gives me that embryonic joy of flying and airport mystique that I really love. Thanks again!
Thanks for taking these two videos and posting them for everyone. A remarkable trip and some very good advice for traveling. Best of luck to you Ro. Pete
This is undoubtedly one of the best inflight experience videos in RUclips! Keep it up!!
Nice Video can't Wait for the Third One!
Hello I am one of your biggest fans. I have watched almost all of your videos, and I am looking forward for when you make Episodes 3 and 4!! You are probably one of the best RUclipsrs for flight experience videos. Your videos make me feel like I am sitting next to you and experiencing the flight myself
This is my fourth time watching the two parts of this series together and I still enjoy them every time
hey man, thats literally the 4th time of me watching all ure videos, i miss you posting videos. they're the best travel expericen videos i've ever seen!!
Dude I love you. These videos gave me an idea of what to expect when I travelled from Hyderabad to Dubai and then to New York. :)
Rohan, I've been following your videos for 3 years now and I have to say this one is my absolute favorite. I think I've watched it a fair few times and it never fails to keep me enthralled. Your way of storytelling is truly inspiring and does really bring out the magic in flying, from the subtle details and insights to the amazing shot composition and narration.
I remember using your video as a reference when I was in Dubai in 2012 and checking out the airport. I was flying Emirates as well and had a positive experience on my return flight. I had a question about your DXB-CCU leg, the meal you received didn't look like a seafood meal to me, so did the crew forget about it?
Thanks a lot for posting these videos!
Aditya
PS: I think the East Bengal player at 17:58 is Penn Orji, the guy played for Kerala in the ISL last year, he's a great sport!
I saw your number 1 long distance episode yesterday, saw this one today... They are really the best out there! I like the way you comment on the flights very much!
Hope you post another one soon!
You come by this naturally Mr seatgurus. When I first logged on to your video I wasn't planning on watching all of it but I did. Very enjoyable. Cheers.

I just had to find this second video of your trip to CLE. I also watched this entire video as well. Great video too. Thanks for sharing, and for the good tips of selecting seats in the rear of the Emirates planes, specially on the 777 and the A380.
Your video work and its documentary style production, are simply AMAZING!
Great video! I also experienced getting the full row of seats on my Delta flight from Tokyo-Narita to Manila. So far, that's the most amazing experience I had when flying economy class.

Keep going and may your father and the women who raised you rest in peace
which airline? I personally have only been in 2 Airbus aircraft (Delta A320 from LaGuardia to Minneapolis St. Paul and Cathay Pacific A330 from Hong Kong to Delhi). What did you think of the A380?
