    Thanks for the video. I just ordered my Gobi Stealth Rack last week, and will try to wait patiently for it. I was told 16-20 weeks. Hopefully it doesn’t take longer, but I’ve saved your video to watch again when the rack arrives. I noticed you didn’t mount the “upper isolators” to the back of the hardtop. (Gobi recommends adding them for heavy loads) Have you noticed any unwanted movement in the rack with a heavy load on top? The isolators are an additional $110 but I think it’s good insurance against messing the rack up. I’ll be carrying (4) 5gal Fuel Cans on the rack during my desert trips. (That would probably count as a “heavy load”)

    • @desertdetector4476
      @desertdetector4476  6 месяцев назад

      You have to remove the mesh insert (4 bolts) to get the panels out. Not a big deal. I do it all the time

    Hey man! Looks great! I am thinking of getting this on our Jeep as well, was wondering how much noise you hear in the cabin when driving at highway speeds? Ours is a daily driver so if it’s intense, I may look for other solutions

    • @desertdetector4476
      @desertdetector4476  3 года назад

      I think it’s the best option out there. I don’t notice the noise even with the big hella lights on top. I use it all the time. Highly recommend it.

    Hi, I stumbled across your video today. My family is in Las Vegas. We have the Gobi stealth rack, they are phenomenal racks for sure. Can you share how you ran your wires from the lights? We are doing our first install of lights on our JKU. We are installing our A pillar switches, etc... this weekend.

    • @desertdetector4476
      @desertdetector4476  3 года назад

      You have to use a relay wiring harness from the battery to the switch pod. Ground each switch to the Jeep body and the positive for each switch to which lights you want to control.

    • @elizabethnorrbom7987
      @elizabethnorrbom7987 3 года назад

      @@desertdetector4476 right, to clarify where and how did you run the wires from your lights to your switch pod? Trying to be discreet but also not drill any holes in the roof ;)

    • @desertdetector4476
      @desertdetector4476  3 года назад

      @@elizabethnorrbom7987 gotcha. Option 1: If your running a led bar across the top then you can either tuck the wire along the A piller bar of the rack and go under the cowel (the piece the the windshield wipers come out of) there should be a hole in the firewall about a foot down just to the drivers side of where the steering column goes through the firewall. That hole was put there but Jeep to run wires from the front of the Jeep to the inside without drilling. From there you can run it up to the switch pod easily.
      Option 2: is to tuck the wire under the front of the freedom panel and down to the switch pod. This is the option I did for my top lights and it’s pretty discreet. The rest of my lights on the front I went with option 1.

    • @znjeep
      @znjeep 3 года назад +1

      @@jcTamales I contacted them many times. First I waited the 16 weeks that they tell you it’ll take. Then I sent an email, they got back to me and said due to COVID they were closed for a while, then had people sick, etc... this was late November. So I waited and sent another email early February. They got back to me and said it’s being manufactured and it’ll take 3-4 weeks to ship. 4 weeks later and nothing. I sent a few emails that went unanswered. So then I called and was told the welder was working on it. That was a month ago and I’m still waiting...going on 9 months.

      @@jcTamales right!!! LOL...well they sent me a generic order update on April 12 stating unprecedented delays etc...so I emailed back asking for at least a time frame because I’ve been given empty promises. So just got an email back from them on the 19th stating that my order will be complete that week and shipped out by Tuesday the 27th which is today or Wednesday the 28th the latest. We will see if it’s yet another empty promise.

    • @desertdetector4476

      About 3 hours. It came packaged very well. An hour of that was just getting it unpackaged and making sure everything was there. I currently have a large Roofnest tent on it and it has held up great off-roading going on 2 years. No complaints.
