@@worick_arcangelo5125 thank you my friend, it's very important to be honest with ourselves and to figure out this problems. Being a minimalist helps me a lot too. Keep it up!
I’ve been in 9 to 5 for 28 years. I’m tired of working. I can’t concentrate at work anymore and I’m not even 50 yet. Really don’t know how much time I will endure it. My job is not hard but doing the same bs for so long have left me empty inside. To younger ppl, you should try doing your own thing.
I'm 24, working a 9 to 5 in the software industry, and it's killing me. There is absolutely no way I'm going to work a 9 to 5 for the rest of my life, and I need to figure out something that will set me up for the rest of life really soon. I think i might have adhd because everything I do at work feels like an absolute chore and is painfully boring. My mind shoots off into space, and I have no interest in what I am doing. I want to do something with investing that will allow me to work at my own accord.
I'm 16 worked as a waiter for 2 and a half month on two jobs, one was 12 am-12 pm, 3 days off and another one from 12 am-3 am (illegally) with little to no time off, because I was the only waiter. Very stressful with no knowledge. You basically have no time for anything. I have no idea how poeple manage to work years these types of jobs.
I have the same attitude and im now self employed and extremely happy with it. It is possible and feasible to take control, dont let yourself get convinced that its too hard or too unlikely - its actually quite easy to set up a website, google maps business and fill out the form to register as a one-man-company. All you need is patience
I feel the same way. That's why I became a stay at home mother. I'm checking out and investing in what is most important to me, guess you could say I'm my own boss (or business partner, with my husband, except he does the billable hours and I keep the ship sailing).
Hey man thanks for making me feel less alone by sharing your mindset, it's very similar to mine. If you've got a uni degree you might be able to find a TEFL job in China. Avoid private schools and try and get a job at a university. They are normally about 18 hours a week of teaching hours (but you'll do a similar amount in lesson prep at least for the first year or two) and provide accommodation. I had a bunch of fun making lessons because you can just do it on your own time and it was super fun because I could for the most part teach about fun things, have debates in class, play games that build English skills etc.
I'm grateful to make you feel less alone, Ben! I don''t have a uni degree but this is a very good opportunity. I hope it will be useful to someone who will read your comment. Stay strong!
Una faccia una razza here and same age as you man. as you know in Greece things always were bad with the economy. I started out stu died law . i didn't like it at all. still searching for my purpose. of course theres always the "safe" net to go back and work as a lawyer and all but i cant imagine doing that for the rest of my life. as a cancer survivor I have strongly the mentality of "it wont matter." Don't die with regrets thats all I know. Fail and fail and keep failing till you find your purpose. If you cannot find anything you like, consider volunteering but we always need money, right? So maybe a seasonal job could help you financially and then you can take time off to try new things once you are more economically stable. at least a lot of people my age do something like that here, but not all can do that. they mostly leave for tourism jobs and then winter they return till they go again next year. of course bad hours and hard work.
Greetings here from the UK. I am in a similar situation. I love music, music production, and playing guitar but I have ADHD so I struggle to stay focused for long periods of time. I can sit for hours playing video games but I really struggle to focus when something is less stimulating to my brain. And don't even get me started on working 9-5! My one wish would be to be to stick with something, like music, and be able to master it without getting distracted. I don't want to be rich or to be "successful" by society's standards. I just want to be able to get to a point where I have enough knowledge and experience to say I've truly accomplished something. But due to my condition this is very difficult ☹
Am I the only one who loves 9-5? Past 3 years I've been working 70h a week, grinding in fuck of a shitty job. 4 months ago I changed jobs. Full remote, great pay and benefits. I just couldn't be fucking happier 😁 I have lots of time for myself, finally good sleep and what's the best: at 5 pm I can forget about my job.
When you work in order to supply for your family and their happiness you give a little less shit about whether your job is flexible or not. I never think the time is the issue (like 9 - 5). Farmers work 14 hours per day and love their work. Maybe focus on getting a real profession and get fulfilled from working with something with your hands that you see real direct results with.
The whole society, everything you own and use is based on these types of jobs! Be grateful that the other citizens worked their asses off for you. Stop whining.
Are you happy with your 9 to 5 job?

I completely relate - it’s compounded by the fact that humans are going to destroy the world so everything feels hopeless

Yes, it's not easy at all. Thank you for your advice, I will keep it in mind. Stay strong!
9 to 5? bro, most office jobs are 8 to 18.30 (yes, 1h eating at the workplace)

Sometimes I think I have ADHD too! I've experienced the same thing in my life, is not easy at all. Keep it up!
Am I the only one who loves 9-5? Past 3 years I've been working 70h a week, grinding in fuck of a shitty job. 4 months ago I changed jobs. Full remote, great pay and benefits. Bud, I'm a marine surveyor. Normal days 0700-1900hrs. Working 'normal' 9-5 hours would be the dream for me.
9 to 5 would be nice.. in Switzerland its more like 0700-1800hrs
I feel the exact same way, thats why I became a tattooist.
Nobody wants to work 9 to 5, but you don't have many other options, in any case at least 1/3 of your day is spent at work.
When you work in order to supply for your family and their happiness you give a little less shit about whether your job is flexible or not. I never think the time is the issue (like 9 - 5). I think everyone just has to find something they love to do
