Dude. I've been heavy binging on GH5 videos and stumbled on this. I'm pretty deep in canon glass so I was worried about how that transition would look/feel, but after seeing your clips I'm pretty much convinced that I can still achieve my shooting style on a camera body like panasonic. Great video thank you!
Thanks sarah for the positive vibes. I love panasonic cameras and have had nothing but great results when I have paired up my canon glass with the gh4 and gh5
I would not recommend this lens for photography speccifacally AF with this lens and camera. The new lumix cameras have great af but if you are not using native lumix lens with the gh5 AF is not gonna be that great
I have the Viltrox EF-M2 II and also use the Canon 50mm f/1.8 and love it. The only correction I have is, the 50mm being used with a 0.71x Speedbooster would make it 35.5mm f/1.3 or approximately a 70mm full frame equivalent, not a 100mm. At least if I understand the conversion method correctly. Thanks for the share.

Good observation, and I should add that it's the full frame equivalent to a 70 mm f/2.6, because the crop factor applies to the aperture as well as the focal length.

HealthMade-EZ you will definitely be able to achieve that look with this setup. If you are looking for a nice cheap mft lens that gets nice blurry backgrounds the $150 lumix 25mm f1.7 and it’s nice because the autofocus works as well. Just a thought before you break the bank.
So when I use my Gh5 or Gh4 paired up with the Metabones or the Commlite .71x speedboosters when I use my canon 50mm f1.8 when paired up with the speedbooster allows me now to knock the f-stop down to f1.3, for my canon 24-105mm and 70-200mm both f4 when i use the speedboosters they are now able to be knocked down to an f2.8. So in a nut shell when you add the speedboosters you are actually able to get more light into the camera/censor. Overall if you add a speedbooster in my experiences you get a lower f-stop with most pieces of glass. I hope that all make sense. Cheers for the question.
I have a GH4R and I would like to buy the Canon 50m f1.8, do I need something extra to connect them? I don't know if they are compatible because of the different brands. Thank you! Love your videos :)

Your 50mm lens does NOT turn into 100mm when using speedbooster... The calculation would be 50mm x 2 x 0,71, so it becomes 71mm full frame equivalent....

Hi laurent, to be honest the Autofocus is pretty bad and not reliable. Everything thing else from stabilization to dropping the f.18 to f1.3 works great, the autofocus was the most disappointing, but as a GH5 user myself I typically dont use AF. Overall the speedbooster + the Canon 50mm is a great setup and for the GH5 is great for lower-light situations. Also f1.3 on the GH5 is a nice blurry background.
Question: does the meta bones speedbooster work with EFS lenses? I have a lot of glass for my canon rebel SL2, and I’m thinking about upgrading to the gh5. I just didn’t want to buy a bunch of new glass. Could my crop sensor lenses work on the gh5 with an appropriate adapter?
To be honest I don't have a firm answer for you, but if you have roughly $30 you could buy a knock-off one first for you EFS glass to see if it works before going all in on a metabones or similar. Also I do recommend looking at the commlite as well mainly because the price and performance seem to be almost exact and the commlite is like roughly in the $200-300 price range.
