Great tutorial, as usual!
@@lesleynaylor432 I'm so glad it was helpful! Thank you for the feedback!
You can always use a double spool boat shuttle as well - or throw two shuttles from opposite sides of the selv. with one lift of the heddles.
@@WthrLdy Great ideas!! Thank you so much!
Thanks for sharing l will put basket weaving on my list.
@@feltlikeitbydebs That's exciting! Great news!
I'd hate mixing it with plain weave because of the shrink factor. I hate bath towels that have that braid woven in as a design factor. I'm constantly pulling on that braid section so my towels hang flat and not all gathered up because the braid shrunk more than the towel. 😵. 💖🌞🌵😷
This video is so timely as I'm doing some experimentation on my loom with basket weave variations. I'm using the same red cotton for the warp and weft, so my project is monochromatic. The sett is for twill (warp yarn is 24 wpi sett to 16 epi in a 12 dent reed). The threading repeat is 1234,112334, 122344 so conveniently it's a 16 end repeat and 16 epi. The tie up is for straight twill (1&2, 2&3, 3&4, 1&4). I'm treating the basic twill treadling as my background and then inserting horizontal stripes of double weft in different treadling patterns: plain twill, "plain" weave (1&3 against 2&4), and basket weave (1&2 against 3&4). I'm really having a ton of fun with creating subtle differences in texture just by modifying the treadling. Using a single weft for the double passes provides so much flexibility. I'll definitely be doing more of this! Love your content.❤
@@justinweaver7543 This sounds great!! Keep up the good work!
I was getting confused! I was thinking ... That's not how I have done it! .... then realized that I was thinking Log Cabin! Duh! I have never done Basket Weave! I will definitely look into it.
@@conniepeterson122 Understandable! The patterns have a lot in common!
I've done basket weave but it is generally a little too plane on its own. I like to through in little bits of something else to liven things up.
@@sonjanordahl3158 Nice idea!!
