- Are you ready for a quick peek at leno? Leno is a hand-manipulated weaving pattern that creates decorative gaps in your fabric. And while it isn't technically "lace", it will give you a lacy effect.
Episode 96 just skims the surface of the fascinating world of leno. It'll set you up for success as you explore all the twisty things you can do with this lace pattern. Enjoy!

You’re a wonderful teacher! Thanks for being clear and getting right to the teaching.
That's such high praise, Jeannie! Thank you so much!
Jeannie is completely right about you. You are clear, friendly, inviting , passionate , no endless small talk , to the point, human. It’s a pleasure and very informative watching your videos ! We want more 👍😁🌈
That's cool. I've not seen that before. I want more! Well, I guess I'm going down a rabbit hole on this type of project. As a new weaver, I'll be watching many more of your videos.
Fabulous! I'm so glad you're here!
Awesome! Leno is loads of fun. I like to offset each row so the warp threads follow a serpentine path. I bet mine will look better now with a floating selvage...I had not thought of that. Great tip! cheers!
Ooh, I love the offset row idea! I'm definitely stealing that! Brilliant!
Thank you!!! You packed that short video full of great info and most of all inspiration! Thank you. I am warping now to try this pattern.
Oh yay!! I'm so glad it was helpful for you!
Thank you very much, the way you teach make it much easier
I'm so glad it was helpful for you!
Very nice. I am on my 2nd warp/ project so I’ll keep this in mind
That's fantastic, Jan!!
Pickup stick stuff! I was gonna try this this with a doubleweave project out of Jennifer Moore's book! This definitely helped me visualize the whole process, and I'm glad its less complicated than my brain made it 😅
I'm so glad it was helpful!!
Super thanks 🙏 .
My pleasure!
Fantastic! More of these technique videos please. Clear, concise, excellent.
So glad you enjoyed it!!
Love your videos. Have learned a lot. In terms of aesthetics is twill as practical as plain weave? Or you would recommend sticking to plain weave
Thanks so much, Camilo!! There is a lot you can do with both plain weave and twill! If you are just starting out, plain weave is the easiest to follow. But I promise twill is not complicated and you can create some beautiful patterns!
@@ActonCreative I have worked twill already. I meant for Leno. Which one will render better results
@@camilorojas1744 I'm not sure I understand the question. What would you like to accomplish?
@@ActonCreative ok. I am working on a fabric (possibly a curtain) using balanced twill. When I saw your video I asked my self if I can do Leno with my planed twill
@@camilorojas1744 Ah! You will get more light through your fabric using leno weave. But it'll hold together with a twill. I hope that helps!
Hi! Thought you might want to know this and I’m not trying to be rude. The opening add was offensive and a bra add. Do you have any control over the ads?
Hi Mary Jo! Sadly, I don't have control over the ads. My apologies!!
