Maybe after he explained what it is that a director is suppose to do, he realised that what he has done over the years mostly that he has not accomplished this lol
the man has long years experience in this business and to me it would be unfathomable that he cannot string together a few sentences about something that likely is his biggest passion in life. Still, anything is possible in Hollywood...
The questions, when distilled down, are extremely basic: How do you come up with your ideas. Why do you like making movies. He can't even answer this. That makes me sad for hollywood :(
That awkward leg swing he did when he went to go shake the hosts hand followed by the equally as awkward arm swing after is what threw him off. That and him asking “How’s everyone doing today?” Followed by an awkward pause as he waited for the audiences reaction then saying “ummmm”
Not everyone is good at public speaking. He was promised a teleprompter and he freaked out when it broke. He was supposed to talk about the product, not himself. He probably didn't know jack shit about the Samsung products. Samsung probably threw money at him. And when the teleprompter broke, he had no clue what to say because he didn't know about the source material. It's understandable why he chose to jet on the presentation.
***** Bay also doesn't know jack shit about being a director nor how to tell a story, man is not suited to be in Hollywood let alone talk about someone else's products."Emotional journey"??WTF is he trying to convince us he is??A talented director??He needs to stop crapping all over other people's stories and crap on his own.
Sammy Lane He doesn't know how to tell a story well. I think he's good at what he does. He makes mindless action movies with good special effects. I enjoyed some of them on a surface level. They aren't award winning movies, and the stories are lackluster, but they can be fun summer flicks imo.
the fact that Michael Bay had to have a teleprompter to say something as simple as personal opinion really says a lot about his creative skills. they don't exist.
Yeah I would give an average guy a break but this is a guy that has been in the public eye for years. Stage fright isn't acceptable at the point. Would he need a Teleprompter to pitch a film idea to a board room?
This is just sad, that people love to hate others be so heartless, and don't see the good sides of him. I respect him for try staying strong with all the hate he gets. He can only learn and become stronger and better. Especially in this times where the hearts of people have turned to stone.
He doesn't care about hate. He is extremly rich, more rich than Scorsese and Tarantino combined. And I don't hate Michael Bay personally. Despite the fact that his Transformers movies are full of flaws, they made my childhood better, so I'm not going to trash him because of that. You don't watch Transformers for deep dialogue and characters, but for cars and big robots fighting. And Transformers delivers that. And if Bay cares about something, that is special effects: in his movies they are always great.
@@diurpaneustv2166I agree. Transformers Dark of the Moon beat The Dark Knight at the box office in 2011 because it appealed to a wide demographic when there was nothing better available. But The Dark Knight was better.
It was clear from the beginning that he was very nervous. Most likely he was just ill-prepared and that initial level of anxiety just swelled up from there, particularly with the teleprompter fail until it was uncontrollable. As such he would barely have been able to answer a question like 'what is your name ?' Its a physiological reaction that can not be controlled really, a bit like trying to fight anaesthetic - you can't do it. The steps were very clear and his thinking would have gone something like this 1/ Oh no I'm up to speak 2/ I just asked how is everybody and no one replied - heck ! 3/ Joe has started introducing me but I've already said what I was going to say in answer to his first question before - now what ! 4/ Shit the autocue has gone 5/ My voice has gone 6/ Now I'm going to have to wing it ! 7/ Now Joe has asked me a simple question but they can hear my voice is quivering 8/ GET ME OUTTA HERE !
this usually begins with you tripping on your words, you start to realize that mistake and get distracted on it for to long and without even realizing it, you just added an awkward silence to the mess. your mind starts to panic trying to find something to talk about but your left feeling blank and at that point your whole body wants to escape. my teacher told me this and the next day he assigned us with a presentation project lmao.
As someone with anxiety i can relate to this so much. We are all human at the end of the day and the fact he had the will to try is more than i could have done
I didn't think it was possible, but Michael Bay has gotten even more pathetic in my eyes. And I still can't believe his Transformers Age of Extinction made more money than the Amazing Spiderman 2.
He had a panic attack people calm down quit with all your childish petty bullshit. I bet you , you would end up choking on your own breath if you had to speak publicly in front of a crowd when all you've know is to be behind the camera not in front of it. He is a human being not an alien, even though his films prove otherwise, he still has fears, worries, and he is a perfectionist. Once things go wrong he can yell CUT and try again, but this time he isn't able to do that. He tried to wing it but the anxiety of being up on that stage and everything got ruined completely flabbergasted him to the point of walking off the stage. Go easy on him, he made a mistake he isn't perfect, he is just a perfectionist.
***** Have you seen the way he directs? He is a total perfectionist, there is no way you can be in the motion picture industry and not be a perfectionist. His movies are far from lazy, he and his team pay a great amount of attention to detail. Mostly having things explode because that's what he does best, but even then he is an amazing director. Imagine if he had directed the Star Wars Saga, everything would be blowing up left and right. Yes presentation is everyteverything but for someone who has anxiety and suddenly has a panic attack, that becomes overwhelming. I bet you you wouldn't stay in front of a live audience if you went through the same thing. He felt embarrassed, he couldn't do anything about it. That's what rehearsals are for unfortunately in this case everything he rehearsed for went to shit because of the damn monitor not working when he was speaking. That's what happens when someone relies on technology too much.
***** Uh huh sure 😒 Sounds like someone is jealous the BAE BAY! it takes a great director to efficiently create the masterpieces Michael creates. He has won 7 awards and has been nominated 7 times. That's a total of 14 awards that he has received and had nominations for. How many do you have? ZERO because you sit here judging people instead of doing something productive. End of story
Give the guy a break? Do you know _anything_ about Michael Bay? If it were anyone else, I'd give him a break, public speaking isn't easy. But when there is someone who has made a career from being a jerk and is well known for thinking he is some alpha-male bully, it's a different story. He is well known for singling out people and embarrassing them on his film sets and treats his crew like crap. This is just like a bully that gets punched in the nose and starts to cry. Sure, everyone cries, but it looks good on a bully.
DarthHater100 He was kind enough to visit our VFX studio while we were working on Transformers 3. From a distance he seemed very friendly but professional. He came up to some of my coworkers at their stations and was curious about the shots they were working on, and talked with them a bit. No director we've ever worked with has engaged to that level. It was a pretty cool experience. I've heard the same stories about him; maybe like anyone else he has his good days and off days. I can't help but feel sorry for him here when I hear the obvious nervousness in his voice...
DarthHater100 I take it you've met him and he treated you like dirt. Wait...probably not. You'll just hate the guy b/c of what you've read in the press about him. Sounds logical.
Hell I'd do that same thing. How is the curve going to impact your movies? If I was winging that I'd probably say "it ain't going to do shit." Walking off was less damaging.
This is me everytime I had to make any presentation in front of class or play guitar and sing at the farewell when everyone's watching u. The legs keep shaking. Voice keeps shaking. And u just hope that u don't collapse in that duration. It sucks😩
The thing that pisses me off so much about Michael Bay is that he does not listen to criticism. Even though the first film was relatively well received, the criticisms included the annoying parents characters, john turturro's annoying performance, the racist stereotypes portrayals, and sexploitation of women. What did he do in the second movie? He gave us twice as much as that! And he continues to do it through the third and fourth movies. The man is clearly not an artist.

Michael Bay doesn't take the Transformers movies seriously but then again, this is what happens when you hire a guy to direct a movie based on a franchise he thinks is stupid.
I think he didn't do enough lines of coke and he wasn't getting that energy he needed to do his presentation...that and he didn't do any prep work. He's no Steve Jobs. Bay's ego thought he could wing it, and he did...and then wigged out and ran away. He should have exploded at the point when he was having his meltdown, since explosions are what he is mostly known for...than and making bad movies in the process.
I feel bad for the guy. It's pretty cool to see that even he has moments of fear. He has human qualities, which is good. We all have moments like this.
Guys stop making fun of the poor guy he had a serious panic attack and forgot what he was gonna say and almost completely panicked and he did the right thing to walk away before it got worse
Lofty He could of had a panic attack knowing that he wouldn't of had a script to follow? I know when I do speeches I like to have a copy of what I'm saying even if I have it mostly memorized.
Instead of laughing, understand that stage fright or fear of public speaking is the number one on the list - it even beats the fear of death. So, please show some respect and empathy. At the end of the day, we are all human.
I TOTALLY can relate to this! I've had a similar experience too when I was in college doing a presentation in front of the class....embarrassing....Some people aren't born with the ability to ad lib onstage
He obviously had explosive diarrhea.. ..when he got to the toilet it was all BOOOOOM!!!!!! GRAAALLLLLSHHH!!!!! and then... And then out of no where a CRRRRAAAASH!!!! Of sweet corn came out an it was all BA BA BA BA BA BA BA BA BA BA!!!!
I wish his microphone was still on so the entire audience could listen to the sounds of Michael Bay running into the bathroom and making explosive diarrhea with intermittent moans, crying, and relieved cursing.
Lols! This was definitely no fail. He perfectly explained how he makes the great depth of his movies that only Michael Bay can make. And since real depth doesn't actually exist in his movies....well, this said it all. :P
It's a bit ridiculous. Who could make up any old rubbish about the curved TV or why he makes films. Guess his life is built around never putting a foot wrong for his image so he always relies on someone else writing what he says.
Poseidon He wasn't up to the samsung product push bit yet. The guy just asked him why he got into movies. It was a question about himself. He could have talked about that for a while and during the time the teleprompter could have been rebooted.
Poseidon still this is just as embarrassing for him as it is for samsung.. should have just made *something* up.. can't be that hard for a "directing genius" with so many "incredible ideas"^^
Give the guy a break, a lot of people have trouble with public speaking. All he was told to do was read the teleprompter and it fucked up and I can't possibly see why he's to blame for this.
"That timed explosion didn't go off. I'm just going to wing it. Um... I'm sorry, I gotta go process some cgi explosions." - "Michael Bat everyone, give him a round of applause."
Lol all these people saying "Omg panic attacks are real and you should be ashamed for making fun of him!" and I'm here reading an article on how it was because Bay missed a couple of lines on the teleprompter and couldn't recover LOL!
+kz78 well it's pretty clear he has social anxiety (probably why dialogue in his movies is so unnatural) and getting thrown off like that in front of a large crowd can be pretty overwhelming. Sometimes when you have that kind of anxiety you just have to get away from the stress as quick as possible. Thanks for making me defend Michael Bay, I never wanted to do that
I had to give a ten minute presentation my freshman year of college the day after the whole football team was essential forced to shave our heads for a cancer foundation. Actually I did well but there’s no describing the feeling of remembering you have a presentation the next day directly after deciding to shave your hair off...
The thing about it is, I can totally relate to this. Public speaking is my number one fear out of anxiety of situations like this occurring. Here's the thing, though: No matter who you are, when you're asked about something you're passionate about, it's always infinitely easier to speak about it because you're actually invested in and knowledgeable about what it is you're discussing. I think he should have been able to sustain a conversation about his craft, even if the teleprompter had malfunctioned. So maybe he just doesn't have the passion for what he does. But maybe that's just my perspective. I still can't help but feel sorry for him though. Even if his movies are crap.
He wasn't feeling it, in the end, 2 years later as a compensation, samsung phones started exploding to make Michael Bay feel better-

If it weren't for his fail I totally would have never heard that they were releasing a new TV.
Now, it is paid by Note 7.
I was going to leave a comment here, but my teleprompter isn't working...
That's how I felt watching Transformers 2, 3 and 4.

He had a panic attack we should not blame him
yep, can happen to anyone.
maybe he was waiting for the cue to an explosion but there were technical difficulties.
LMFAO at that handshake (watch michael bay's leg)
i know that was something out of a dr seuss book

"Where do you get your ideas?"
"From the Transformers(cartoon) wikipedia page"
Hahahahahahahahaaha.
Transformers fans are still mad at Bay.
Maybe after he explained what it is that a director is suppose to do, he realised that what he has done over the years mostly that he has not accomplished this lol
That is just very rude. Sean Connery even defended him during production of The Rock, he saw greatness in Bay.
Well I know its Sean Connery but not everything he says is fact
***** What???
CrazyFunTVMovieGuy
The League of Extraordinary Gentleman. Totally unrelated to Bay, though.
I would love to see if you accomplished something as big as he did... fucking youtube warriors.
His mind went blank. An unfortunate moment, but it's a human trait and happens to everyone.
the man has long years experience in this business and to me it would be unfathomable that he cannot string together a few sentences about something that likely is his biggest passion in life. Still, anything is possible in Hollywood...
***** Or he could have social anxiety and the teleprompter was his security blanket.
The questions, when distilled down, are extremely basic: How do you come up with your ideas. Why do you like making movies. He can't even answer this. That makes me sad for hollywood :(
You forget that he is human and hates by alot of people. The hate of people can be so cold and break a person
Just like his plots
There was a lack of explosions in his press conference so he lost all his mojo and left. True story.
I have to give a 20 minute presentation at college tomorrow. Why am I watching this D:
Primitive Spongebob how did it go?
ABRAHAM RIVERA It went okay, my voice was a little shaky and my arms were by my side the whole time haha
Primitive Spongebob it happens to me too.
I have one Tuesday and I'm not really that prepared 😅
Christopher Springmann what do you mean?
That awkward leg swing he did when he went to go shake the hosts hand followed by the equally as awkward arm swing after is what threw him off. That and him asking “How’s everyone doing today?” Followed by an awkward pause as he waited for the audiences reaction then saying “ummmm”
He never recovered mentally after doing the leg swing ha
Well, he certainly exploded out of there.
more like imploded
Don't think I need a teleprompter to talk about myself. Or something I was paid to talk about.
***** Or hes not a public speaker?
Sammy Lane
Thaaaaank you!
The worst director on the planet ladies and gentlemen
Not a huge fan of him myself never watched any of the new transformer films. Can't beat the 1990 film
Mike Green "You got the touch!"
He's shit now, but that doesn't mean there aren't worse directors out there; like the director of Birdemic, for example
No, Not the worst.. Mr. Uwe boll takes that cake, by far.
that's not Shamamamdon
"The curve? How do you think this will affect how viewers experience your movies?"
Michael Bay: .... what's a movie?
goddammit hahaha!
The shifting aspect ratios will makes everyone go blind.
More like “how do I direct a movie without any explosions”
Someone should edit loads of explosions onstage after he leaves haha
the fact that Michael Bay had to have a teleprompter to say something as simple as personal opinion really says a lot about his creative skills. they don't exist.
EXPLOSIIOOOOOOOOOON!
Bingo
dude, its called stage fright. give him a break.
Yeah I would give an average guy a break but this is a guy that has been in the public eye for years. Stage fright isn't acceptable at the point. Would he need a Teleprompter to pitch a film idea to a board room?
***** it's very common for directors to get stage fright and anxiety.
This is just sad, that people love to hate others be so heartless, and don't see the good sides of him. I respect him for try staying strong with all the hate he gets. He can only learn and become stronger and better. Especially in this times where the hearts of people have turned to stone.
Better ? Where ? The Last Knight says otherwise.
Good man, does not means Good movies. Because of that he get so much hate, not because he is bad man.
I can't believe that guy made one of my all time favorite movies when I was a kid, The Rock.
Ouch.
Won't lie, I was waiting for a random explosion image on the TV.
this usually begins with you tripping on your words, you start to realize that mistake and get distracted on it for to long and without even realizing it, you just added an awkward silence to the mess. your mind starts to panic trying to find something to talk about but your left feeling blank and at that point your whole body wants to escape. my teacher told me this and the next day he assigned us with a presentation project lmao.
As someone with anxiety i can relate to this so much. We are all human at the end of the day and the fact he had the will to try is more than i could have done
Someone do their magic and edit explosions into this as he walks off
I love how he needed a prompter to explain what he does for a living lol
I didn't think it was possible, but Michael Bay has gotten even more pathetic in my eyes. And I still can't believe his Transformers Age of Extinction made more money than the Amazing Spiderman 2.
KingNazaru I wouldn't be able to stand on a stage like that. I feel for him.
KingNazaru Well probably because The Amazing Spiderman was shit and what's to expect with the second one? Shit. And it was.
PJ MasterDiddy i actually liked the second one, loved the way she died and the way the relationship would affect him.
***** Uh huh sure 😒
Sounds like someone is jealous the BAE BAY! it takes a great director to efficiently create the masterpieces Michael creates.
He has won 7 awards and has been nominated 7 times.
That's a total of 14 awards that he has received and had nominations for.
How many do you have? ZERO because you sit here judging people instead of doing something productive.
End of story
i feel for him
That God we don't have to have one of our worst moments splattered on RUclips open to the critique of millions. Give the guy a break.
DarthHater100
He was kind enough to visit our VFX studio while we were working on Transformers 3.
DarthHater100
I take it you've met him and he treated you like dirt. Wait...probably not. You'll just hate the guy b/c of what you've read in the press about him. Sounds logical.
It's funny how he tries to talk like an actual artist, lol
where's the explosion?
Michael Bay? More like Michael Bailed.
HUEHUEHUEHUE.....

Hell I'd do that same thing. How is the curve going to impact your movies? If I was winging that I'd probably say "it ain't going to do shit." Walking off was less damaging.
LMAO!!!
Best part was when he tried to wing it and still failed LOL
clearly didn't know anything about the product he was marketing.
That's mean. He obviously had stage fright and went into a fight/flight scenario and decided to just get out of there.
This is me everytime I had to make any presentation in front of class or play guitar and sing at the farewell when everyone's watching u. The legs keep shaking. Voice keeps shaking. And u just hope that u don't collapse in that duration. It sucks😩
What an awesome host.
He froze up, but I'm sure if we threw in a couple of explosions he'd feel more at home...
Michael Bay doesn't take the Transformers movies seriously but then again, this is what happens when you hire a guy to direct a movie based on a franchise he thinks is stupid.
mousehead2000 Real artists listen to criticism.
mousehead2000 Um.... yeah, I think it's safe to say you're full of shit dude.
mousehead2000 you win :)
nothing bad about doing your own thing...his movies suck but they are still collect millions and millions so there must be something people like eh,,
Michael Bay to self - "Damn I picked a bad day to stop doing lines of coke"
I think he didn't do enough lines of coke and he wasn't getting that energy he needed to do his presentation...that and he didn't do any prep work. He's no Steve Jobs. Bay's ego thought he could wing it, and he did...and then wigged out and ran away. He should have exploded at the point when he was having his meltdown, since explosions are what he is mostly known for...than and making bad movies in the process.
@@denisefaraday7610 Well said Denise
I feel bad for the guy. It's pretty cool to see that even he has moments of fear. He has human qualities, which is good. We all have moments like this.
Guys stop making fun of the poor guy he had a serious panic attack and forgot what he was gonna say and almost completely panicked and he did the right thing to walk away before it got worse
aww poor baby. My heart goes out to him. It must be hard to make so much money milking franchises and ruining them in the process
+Shawn Babcock That's hard. I agree. But he kinda deserves it
+Shawn Babcock Leave Michael Bay alone! Just leave him alone! (Waaaah!) XD
+Shawn Babcock Not what happened, the teleprompter stopped working lmfao.
Lofty He could of had a panic attack knowing that he wouldn't of had a script to follow? I know when I do speeches I like to have a copy of what I'm saying even if I have it mostly memorized.
his skills as a public speaker reflect the amount of love and research he puts in his movies.
BREAKING NEWS: Micheal bay is only human.
I feel you man, but you could just tell from the beginning, that this was gonna end bad. This has happened to me more than i can remember
This...this nailed it +1 for you
I wish his microphone was still on so the entire audience could listen to the sounds of Michael Bay running into the bathroom and making explosive diarrhea with intermittent moans, crying, and relieved cursing.
Lol, can't stop laughing. Good one dude
@blonted sounds like his next movie. Just add some tits in a tight shirt and you have 'Diarhrea Manifesto'
I'd have started dancing like Ashley simpson did when she got caught lipsyncing at SNL
Lols! This was definitely no fail. He perfectly explained how he makes the great depth of his movies that only Michael Bay can make. And since real depth doesn't actually exist in his movies....well, this said it all. :P
The perfect placement of this on the Honest Trailer for Transformers Movie is HILARIOUS
who the hell still relies that much on a teleprompter? Your suppose to use some and know the rest.
It's a bit ridiculous. Who could make up any old rubbish about the curved TV or why he makes films. Guess his life is built around never putting a foot wrong for his image so he always relies on someone else writing what he says.
He's there solely for Samsung's benefit. It's samsungs job to give him lines to represent their product. Many people would have done the same thing.
Mary Jane And there we go.
It was the lack of explosions......he gets scared when their arnt explosions...
Not enough explosions
could someone send me a link to a AVI file of this clip
Give the guy a break, a lot of people have trouble with public speaking. All he was told to do was read the teleprompter and it fucked up and I can't possibly see why he's to blame for this.

This was more entertaining than all the Transformer movies combined.
This is his best film ever

Lol all these people saying "Omg panic attacks are real and you should be ashamed for making fun of him!" and I'm here reading an article on how it was because Bay missed a couple of lines on the teleprompter and couldn't recover LOL!
+kz78 well it's pretty clear he has social anxiety (probably why dialogue in his movies is so unnatural) and getting thrown off like that in front of a large crowd can be pretty overwhelming. Sometimes when you have that kind of anxiety you just have to get away from the stress as quick as possible. Thanks for making me defend Michael Bay, I never wanted to do that
This video needs more explosions..
"Let's all thank Michael Bay for stuttering 3 words and then running away, folks!"
After seeing the movies he's directed id expect nothing less
Sorry, I don't know what i do as a director, and I have no idea what this device before me is. I'm sorry. I must go create more Transformers films.
I had to give a ten minute presentation my freshman year of college the day after the whole football team was essential forced to shave our heads for a cancer foundation. Actually I did well but there’s no describing the feeling of remembering you have a presentation the next day directly after deciding to shave your hair off...
Next time after giving a bad presentation I'll just think of this guy and smile. Man.. what an epic fail!
Wow. He managed to show a real human persona instead of some fake scripted performance. He gets my respect for being genuine.
He would have shown a fake scripted performance had his auto que worked.
Still doesn’t change the fact that he’s a no-good sellout. 😒
It was PTSD from all the explosions on the Transformers movies set 😢
He simply got stage fright. Why is there such a big shitstorm over this? xD
