I feel like your one of the only music youtubers who REALLY understand the music. You don't just listen to the song and say ''YOOO THAT WAS FIREE!!'' or ''meh, it was alright I guess.. I hated [insert good song]'' You really dive deep and unpack the complexity and meaning and backstory, its really nice to see. Keep up the great work!
i always knew tyler’s music was a lot deeper than just someone making a song, but this video is really widening my perspective on him as an artist. i think every artist is a musician of sorts, but not every musician is an artist- even tho there is no such thing as “not art”
The song I Killed You is a personal song for people within black culture in the Western world (I’m black). Our hair for a very long time hasn’t fit the standards within society and has caused us to do things our hair that slowly damages and kills it. All in order to fit within society. So yes I understand what u said about him killing his old versions of himself and letting go. But it is also addressing an insecurity many black people don’t always discuss. As you’ve said in the vid , it’s him taking off the mask revealing his insecurities. Great vid btw !!!
i love this video so much half of the runtime of tis video my mouth was wide open with your takes on this album you really flipped the things he was talking about in this album thank you for this video (ps pls make a video on taboo)
I think that "sarah" shit really did affect his relationships. He also said he used to be bullied i found somewhere on the net. That shit really makes someone make a shell of themsleves, to put a rebellious insecure confidence and arrogance to be yourself. Its been so obvious since Bastard came out. He also made Pigs. Which was him trying to put himself mentally to school shooters who were bullied, i think he really relates in someway to it enough to make a song about it.
“Art connects us to others’ struggles and experiences of the same things we’re going through” yeah it’s the most natural way to develop empathy for people you’ve never met imo. A vid that I’m gonna come back to for a long time. I appreciated your vulnerability in this ❤ now go and take your mask off
Absolutely amazing analysis video!! You caught so much of the nuance of Tyler’s project and it was highlighted even more by your own personal reflections. The editing and narrative structure of this was really well done. Fantastic video!! Forever is too long 👍
Honestly, after watching a video about how this album was just Tyler not pushing enough, not exploring Althea sound enough, and etc., my take was that this album was like cherry bomb in a way. An album that's near and dear to him to the point he doesn't care if people care if people like it because he loves it
I really love your analysis of this album. Like me, I believed that CHROMAKOPIA is Tyler's Mr. Morale and the Big Steppers, but another album I have in mind that is similar to the purposeful switching and whiplashes of the songs is Kanye West's The Life of Pablo. You have bangers like Father Stretch My Hands, Feedback, Highlights, No More Parties in LA, Freestyle 4, and Waves. And you have emotional, introspective songs like Wolves, FML, Saint Pablo, Ultralight Beam, and Real Friends. Like that album, CHROMAKOPIA has bangers like St. Chroma, Sticky, Balloon, Thought I Was Dead, and of course on the flip side, Hey Jane, Tomorrow, Take Your Mask Off, Darling I, I Hope You Find Your Way Home...and Like Him. I just feel like I want to say that, if you want album similarities, CHROMAKOPIA is like Mr. Morale and Life of Pablo.
