Excellent! My lock switch was actually missing and I had no idea that the smaller notch on the other side had anything to do with write protection. Covered both notches with tape - now it works perfectly (as an unlocked card). Thanks for saving me $30 on a card I thought was buggered!
The write protection certainly worked fine and gave me plenty of grief because the slider position from normal was so small. Your advice has saved the day. . . Thank you.

It didn't work for me. I checked to see if the tape was completely covering the notch or if it was tight enough and tried again and it still didn't work.
Could you tell me what type of Micro SD card you have is it from SanDisk Toshiba Samsung excetra it could be the fact that the type of micro SD card that you are using is extremely restricted and you probably have to download an SD card free tool to remove the write protection but when I did it I put a piece of tape and it worked I have the Toshiba adapter and it worked
Thank you for explaining the lock! I had my micro SD attached to my SD converter and had it set to "lock" thinking this was to lock the micro SD into place. I didn't realize it locked the files. I switched the switch up and was able to delete/move files. Thank you so much!

The danger with this if you get too carried away (taping both sides) is that you can end up with a card that is too bulky to slot into your reader. I find the entire design absolutely bonkers compared to USB drives - I admit that the latter wouldnt work with cameras (even though they've shrunk considerably over the years), but as a storage mechanism for the Raspberry Pi and other small board computers, for me the SD card is a total WOFTAM. The manufacturers need to make up their minds - either its the slider or the notch that determine if a card is write protected, not both - I'm betting that far more people have torn their hair out over cards they cant write to than the few unfortunates who've overwritten little Timmy's christening photos ;) If they can build slots in phones to accept the micro SD card itself - rather than the much larger holder - surely they can do that in laptops and completely bypass this madness. LOL, I Cut the SD using scissor, and than found other SD had the same issue. Solved by this youtube and tape. God
