  • Come with me and explore the beauty of Gdańsk, Poland on my vlog of the city. You can treat this video as a bit of a travel guide for Gdansk, as I show you round all the main attractions in the city.
    I was so pleasantly surprised by the city, especially Gdansk Old Town. I’ll take you down the Main Street, Długa Street, and show you all of Gdańsk’s beautiful landmarks, the colourful and eccentric streets.
    While exploring, I’ll also tell you a little bit about the history of Gdańsk, and why they have such beautiful, and Dutch looking architecture!
    I also visited Malbork Castle, the world’s largest castle by land area, which started being built in the 13th Century by the Teutonic Order. I have a separate video coming out soon for Malbork Castle, so make sure you stick around for that in a few days!
    Back to Gdańsk, I also got some stunning 4K drone footage of the city which I absolutely love.
    Anyway, I hope you enjoyed this video and find it valuable.

Whilst a lot of the experience tourists to Poland recommended Krakow for our next visit - every single one who had been to Gdansk informed us THE city to visit in Poland is without a doubt Gdansk. • @christopherhall3894
      @christopherhall3894 Год назад

      aisha1977pl is correct. Danzig/Gdansk was destroyed by the Soviet Army in 1945, late March 1945 , barely 5 to 6 weeks before the end of the war. It was the old town they set fire to, and some parts a few blocks over were not even touched. Read what the Soviet Army did to St. Mary's. Really terrible. The pictures of the destruction are heartbreaking to see. When I was in Poland in 1989 I went on a tour of Gdansk and the tour guide said the Germans did it and that the Germans badly damaged Malbork Castle. Both were 100% lies. Danzig and Malbork/Marienburg were German cities. It was the Soviet Army who did it and the Polish people who restored everything so beautifully had not lived there before the war.. They were Polish people expelled from Polish lands taken by the Soviet Union farther east and from Wilno Poland which became Vilnius Lithuania. What a magnificent job they did.

    To zadziwiające i smutne, że ludzie w Europie tak mało wiedzą o Polsce. Potrzeba im filmów na Youtubie, (świadczą o tym komentarze) żeby dowiedzieli się, że Polska to jeden z najpiękniejszych i najbardziej bezpiecznych krajów Europy. Zjeździłem całą Europę, od Moskwy po Wyspy Kanaryjskie i nigdzie nie jest tak wspaniale jak w Polsce. Ci wszyscy którzy dopiero teraz zachwycają się Gdańskiem, po obejrzeniu tego filmu, podwójnie by się zdziwili gdybym im powiedział, że równie pięknym, czystym i bezpiecznym miastem jest Grodno na Białorusi. Ale chyba nie mają na tyle wyobraźni, bo dla nich Europa Wschodnia, to ciągle tabu. To przykre, że ludzie z Zachodniej Europy są tak zacofani.

    This is Danzig, a Germany territory force to give up after WW2. HIstory is so contentious, convoluted and always written by the Victors. Time will tell if and when Germany gets it back.

    • @oskarrez8296
      @oskarrez8296 2 месяца назад +1

      Gdańsk belonged to the Polish Duchy since the year 997. Gdańsk has generally belonged to Poland (in various state forms) for 663 years, and to Germany for 125 years. Go back a lot further in history, not just 100 years back... So Gdańsk, no Danzig.

    • @tikbalangbukid
      @tikbalangbukid 2 месяца назад

      @@oskarrez8296 No, your knowledge of History is incorrect, faulty. Various kingdoms occupied the territory -german, prussian czech and a few yrs of polish duchy. That does not constitute historical basis as ownership of territory. In Truth, Prussian/german has more than enough historical records, basis to claim historical claim of Danzig land, Territory. WW 1 and 2 change all that perspective and claims by virtue of Treaties entered by the Victors of the 2 world wars.

      @@tikbalangbukid No You are completely wrong. Prussia invaded Gdańsk in 1789/95. There followed a series of strikes. There was a concomitant decrease in the city’s economy. The city became German under unification under Bismark at around 1870’s; where there were mass expulsion of Poles (ethnic cleansing). To make a long story short, Gdańsk (and Gdynia) have regained their status as the primary ports on the Baltic Sea, when communism collapsed in 1989 - it collapse was due primarily to the workers in Gdańsk under Lech Walensa. There were elections held in August 1989. THE BERLIN fell in November 1989 as Poland was free of Soviets. Gdańsk (and Gdynia) has become the most important/busiest port in Baltic Region officially in 2018/19; and the wealthiest in the region due to Poland.

In German it is call "Rechtsstadt" - lit. right town and the Poles called something like main town or main quarter. After the devastation of the war it was not rebuilt to what it was before the war as he said, rather to an idealised version - that's whay it looks so pretty today.
