Thanks for making this! Heading to Gdansk for just a day on a cruise and I really wanted to eat some traditional Polish food, so this has been absolutely perfect.

Thank you Seb for this! Perfect. I'm going with some 70 students on a trip to Gdansk for a week, and I am so glad to know what you taught here. Thank you again.

U dudes are so lucky to have all that food. I remember early 60S. Chain of winters with snow up to the roof and temp. -25C. I was coming home from school, with my ONLY pair of shoes, and my grandma was serving fry bread on greasy frying pan . She used to say that all grease gives dish unique flavor

I also recommend Bar Turystyczny, 8/10 Szeroka Street. Moreover, sandwiches offered at Żabka grocery stores are ideal for a quick breakfast.

I am going to try Stolowka. Also, I found it is cheaper to eat at student canteens, but the only problem is that they usually don't take cards. If the weather is good can buy food at Biedronka and make a picnic in park.

We just returned from Gdansk and I wish I had viewed this video before. We found it extremely expensive (8 euros for a single kielbasa, for example, and 4 euros for a portion of chips is out of this world!) and the people do not go out of their way to help either. Everyone was buying and all shops had long queues of people wanting to buy food. Also, the selection and taste of food was nothing out of the ordinary. Frankly it was mostly tasteless when compared to the Mediterranean cuisine we are used to. We ate because we were hungry not because the food was enticing. it is a very touristy place and like all places like that it offers little for a lot!

Most people working in these places speak basic English, so they should understand you. You can also find what you fancy on google images and show the picture to the staff. You can also use google translate to show/allow the staff to hear what you fancy. Anyway, I think it will be a good idea if one day I make a video showing popular Polish dishes, with their names in Polish. Greetings :-)

The only official name of the city is GDAŃSK. However, in German language people can use "Danzig", the same as Polish people speaking in Polish use "Drezno" for Dresden or "Lipsk" for Leipzig.
