They way I see it the more people are stuck at home the more RUclips they will be watching ! Similar to how youtubers get more views during winter break (except scary💀)
I’m a grown man who studied abroad in Japan and I’d like to say the one thing that I miss is my schools vending machine. They had strawberry milk and that crap was bomb.
Im currently learning japanese, and only know how to introduce myself, say where I live, and some other things. I also know all hirigana, and am learning the rest of katakana. So I hope I'll be like you someday and be able to speak so well!
Japan seems to be doing a better job than many places in the world with this disease, and I think it's largely because of these proactive decisions with social distancing. The US's cases spiked so suddenly because we didn't take it seriously, take precautions, and test appropriately. So good work Japan! Stay healthy and careful - hopefully continuing the kinds of processes that have happened in Japan will keep everyone healthy, even though it is frustrating and difficult to change up daily life!
I appreciate you still posting videos about your life in Japan, and still encouraging folks to try and make a life out there or at least to see the country. It gives me a lot of hope personally, and I look forward to every video you post! Thank you!
Don’t let this virus stuff keep you from posting useful info for the future... this too will pass. It’s just good to see how things are going for us across the seas.
Hope that things are calming down some on your end! Last week was probably the worst it's been in Shimane Prefecture (A case popped up in Yamaguchi so out local government has gone into hyperdrive) At this point we've had all external meetings/business trips completely cancelled and two of my events in March are postponed indefinitely. We also cancelled a once a year event that's famous in town :'( It's strange to be working in Tourism in Japan right now because we can't honestly advertise events while everything is on lock down. On to a more positive note. Love your videos and looking forward to more! It's always great to see your newest updates ^_^
@@sarah3796 Hi! I'm not currently living in Tokyo, so I do not have complete information here. For the most part, restaurants and shrines and other buildings have been operating as usual. (Some places ask customers to wear masks for safety.) Large venues such as Tokyo Disneyland and the Ghibli Museum have been shut down to avoid encouraging large groups of people. Many local festivals and events that attract crowds (especially school-age children) have been cancelled or postponed until April/May. For the most part, though, I would say that general stores and restaurants are fine as long as you take regular precautions. (Washing your hands, etc...) If you have specific locations in mind, I would recommend checking to see if the businesses/shrines have FB or Instagram pages to see if they have any closures marked down for Corona. Happy travels and stay safe!
Hey KemushiChan, I LOVE your videos. Your hair always looks so healthy, can you post a haircare video? There's a Japanese grocery store down the street from my house, and I always wondered if their products worked well on afro-textured hair. I'd love to know your thoughts :)
I can't speak for the rest of the world but I prefer preparedness mode to panic mode. And speaking of preparedness, I wonder if you're familiar with the Tokyo Bousai? Available in English and worth a look no matter where you live. No matter what happens, I'm looking forward to more videos.
I’m also in a bit of a rut after hearing nothing but news and concerns about the virus. After you said it I suddenly felt the urge to go camping out in the middle of nowhere, but it’s too bad because I don’t have the money to do so now...
in regards to the scholarhip, i'm still working on it. i've been in contact with the NY embassy but i'm not in panic mode. i'm sorry to anyone else out there reading this but i'm not. there's a line by franklin d. roosevelt that he said when he took office in 1933 that i have been saying a lot more recently and it's, "i don't fear anything but fear itself." the words Franklin actually said were, "Nothing to fear but Fear Itself," and if you read his inaugural speech, it's true. if you think about it. anyways, the video you posted is in my watch later to see what else you have to say on top of the info i received. so don't second guess yourself, i'd say. just do you. :)
Even though I think I may have blacked out and had blurry vision a couple times during this video, it was nice to see you're doing okay with your contracts, and coping with everything going on.

The despair came very quickly to the US... Unis are cancelling classes and shifting them all online, so students are freaking out. I think keeping a positive attitude like yours is really good though.
I don't usually comment but I've also been stuck at home in Tokyo in the last few weeks, feeling grim and stressed from how unpredictable everything has been. A lot of things that my roommate and I have been looking forward to have been canceled, and we're bracing ourselves for more to be soon. Your last few videos really brought a sense of normality to my life, that I didn't realise I needed until I watched them. Even if people's plans change for this year, I'm sure the information that you worked so hard to source and put together would be useful to numerous others down the road! Even though I'm already in Japan, I'm in the middle of changing careers and wondering where to go next, and your scholarship video really helped me start putting my feelers out to see what my options are for when I do decide! I'm glad you guys are doing good, and I just wanna say thatI'm so excited for your Akita video. I'm sure it'll lift everyone's spirits for sure!

Loved the Blues Clues bit! 😂 Hang in there during this crazy time! I know how you feel. I was down to a few rolls of TP and the shelves were empty by the time I got to the store 😅 Oh, Japan.... Awesome video and editing! Enjoyed it!
As a latin American viewer I really enjoyed your video, without taking away the importance of current events, us the people that live at the "third world" have worst things to worry about beyond a virus that is barely killing thousands of people around the world. In fact here there are a lot of memes of people saying they would love to travel to Asia, now that travel is so cheap, because they would rather get infected in some Asian city than in one cheap latin american supermarket. So please keep updating and know that the world is larger thank you may think, and your videos may be a ray of light for many people, even the darkest of it.
I remember watching your video "I am going to Japan". I wanted to know how did you learn to speak and read Japanese so well. My do it was totally impossible. I cannot believe all these years later, I have taught myself how to read and write in Hiragana and Katakana. I am still afraid of Kanji.

Wow! We are living the same life. I had a similar situation with the taxes, and same relief over the extension! I am living in Nagoya, and we are now second only to Hokkaido for number of COVID19 cases. Nagoya station has been so empty, all events everywhere are cancelled; but keep posting videos! It's not KY, I think it's good to try and maintain some normalcy in this uncertain season.
Mrs. KemushiChan I really enjoy your content even if it's just you at home or walking outside in the rain. You live in Japan and to me that is so sergoi. I hope things will get better soon and those moments of sunshine in your life would continue to motivate you. =D
It’s absolute chaos in America right now. I live an hour outside NYC and things are getting wild. There’s panic shoppers everywhere and everything is super grim.
I was planning to come to Japan for two weeks myself. That plan got canceled. I'm praying for normalcy, because I am planning to go to Japan, Fukuka for 2 months for study abroad in the summer of 2021. I'm a teacher, so I get 2 months off for summer break and I'm free to do whatever I want. I want to go there to study Japanese and open my horizons. Currently, I'm studying Japanese, been doing so since March 2020. It's a review for me, because I did studied Japanese back in my early college years, early 2000's, 4 years. It's pretty much getting what I forgot and putting the Japanese I lost and was confused by together, connecting the dots. LoL
Hi, Loretta. It is inspiring to see you live your perspective about living out LOUD and beautiful...especially given the crisis in Japan at the moment. Likewise, it's great that you're looking at what you can (still) do (despite what's happening) rather than what you can't do. Thus, "don't grow weary in well doing." You and Boomer are such wonderful influencers, as well as agents of change for others...whether to an audience of one, or an audience of hundreds & thousands of people. Be blessed Loretta, you guys are in my prayers. Rest easy, travel safe

I am just starting work at an eikaiwa in Osaka in a few days. I've been to Japan a couple times in the past few years, but living and working here will be totally new to me. It seems like coronavirus has really forced Japan into a standstill for a lot of things (school, even taxes!?), breaking the stereotypes of Japan that people typically have.
@@sarah3796 Not yet, no. I'm sure in some areas, people may have done that. But so far, there aren't any restaurants or convenience stores around me that have closed.
Embassies are still accepting MEXT applications for this coming semester! I am in the waiting process right now - the only difference is depending on embassy that they are being more lenient on deadlines of certain documents due to covid. So I still havent submitted my medical form, but that's because all med testing is backlogged due to covid testing - so my embassy is allowing me to submit it late because of it. Other than that, it's still business as usual.
Your work is relevant. Your video about scholarships and how to look for them was super helpful! I would like to go to Japan for graduate school for physics, but everything's shutting down here and I can't go back to school until my 8 year review process is done at this school and it takes several weeks...also the deadline for applying scholarships and grants to my tuition is in a few weeks. I'm nervous because I can't go to school without help, I barely make it on my own with a dog, there's no way I could pay for school, but by the time I get out of undergrad I'll have limited time....maybe a year or so? To start my plan to move to Japan and get accpeted to school there if I want to apply for the graduate MEXT ...because I'm old and didn't figure out what I wanted to study until this last year and a half lol. I'm going to do my best to study what I love and also try to get out of undergrad by the deadline, but everything is crazy. That was a long winded explanation but the point is that you posting about these other things I might be able to look into to at least get a foot in the door somewhere to go to Japan so I can make connections, it really helps me relax a little more. That if maybe the timing doesn't work out I can still make my dreams happen with some hard work and research. Thank you for continuing to post during this time. The tips and updates are helpful. They help me know what I may want to prepare for or expect in some cases. You can do this, and your work and videos are still relevant, things are just crazy and the world is trying to adapt at the moment. ❤
Are you really fine with sleeping 4-6 hours a day if you don't walk too much? You probably got used to it, but it is not like the side effects of it have disappeared. I recommend for you to sleep more, but I understand that its quite hard in Japan to sleep 7 and a half-to 8 hours a day. Maybe not , but from the vids I have watched about working in Japan it seems to me like the residents of Japan work a LOT. My point is that i don't recommend anyone getting used to sleep deprivation. Ps: awesome video. keep it up :D

Lol. I still can'rt grasp the need to hoard toilet paper. I found out from my hair stylist the morning after they closed the schools. Just the morning after! And when I went to buy just in case...already nothing. Yeah...when I saw you posted a scholarship video, I wondered how that was going to work out now. It's going to be a rough year! Luckily, like you, I'm safe regarding work...but a lot of people I know are out of luck. I guess...on the bright side, Ryokans are cheap? This year, man. Give us something good!
of course it's up to you to decide what kind of content to post in these times, but personally I wouldn't mind and would even like to see informative videos, be it travel or study or work in Japan (or any video from you really lol)! given how more people worldwide are gonna be at home, it could be a nice time to learn about stuff that could become potential plans in the future. things eventually will go back to normal :)

Contract workers in Seattle are having a similar issue. I can't find a contract to save my life right now because the markets are scared and no one is opening new ones.
I felt the same in the cities, but noticed a LOT of families, dads etc. sitting on their front step with their kids, in the park, or walking around near home. It seems like people are going out, just in their neighborhoods mostly.
@@missbianca1979 scary disease? well its scary, but only if you have a weak immune system. from your profile picture i assume that you are quite young and thus have a strong immune system so you shouldn't really worry too much. its only as bad as the flu and the only people who can die from it are the ones who have a weak immune system. for example, elderly people. though , its not pleasant to catch it. i don't really understand why you would think that God will take this disease away while there are far worse things on this planet and he never really did something like taking a disease away , but if that calmes you down then you do you. could you maybe explain to me your reasoning so i can understand you better? fun fact: the corona virus exists already a long time so it isn't a newly formed disease. the thing is that its the first time that it has spread this much and that is a problem.

We also cancelled a once a year event that's famous in town :'(
It's strange to be working in Tourism in Japan right now because we can't honestly advertise events while everything is on lock down.
On to a more positive note. Love your videos and looking forward to more! It's always great to see your newest updates ^_^
A.S. Hi I going to Tokyo on Thursday for a holiday. Will restaurants and stores be closed? What about shines and parks
Your concerns about the videos you are uploading never even crossed my mind. They are still super useful and I appreciate them.
in regards to the scholarhip, i'm still working on it. i've been in contact with the NY embassy but i'm not in panic mode. i'm sorry to anyone else out there reading this but i'm not. there's a line by franklin d. roosevelt that he said when he took office in 1933 that i have been saying a lot more recently and it's, "i don't fear anything but fear itself." the words Franklin actually said were, "Nothing to fear but Fear Itself," and if you read his inaugural speech, it's true. if you think about it. anyways, the video you posted is in my watch later to see what else you have to say on top of the info i received. so don't second guess yourself, i'd say. just do you. :)
Even though I think I may have blacked out and had blurry vision a couple times during this video, it was nice to see you're doing okay with your contracts, and coping with everything going on.
Thank you to Vee Bee and Jacob Holmes for adding English subtitles! If you want to help out this video (Spanish, Japanese, French, anything else!) here's the link: ruclips.net/user/timedtext_video?v=R3k-amFP_oM&ref=share
Your videos are helping me. I am working towards obtaining a masters in urban planning. Thank you. It seems like if I want to do a masters it will take three years in Japan (research plus 2 years for the accreditation?) I hope you’re hanging in there. You touch your face a lot lol maybe it’s the nerves of the current situation lol. I do too I have had to work v hard not to be vigilant! Again, you are v witty and helpful. THANK YOU 🖤🥳🖤
The despair came very quickly to the US...
Please don't stop posting! We need your videos to take our mind from the worries of life and to distract myself during this horrible quarantine I'm now......i live in China and s you probably know things here are not good.
Please take care of yourself and your mind!! 😣❤️ Hoping all this negative news isnt wearing us down
You speak really good Japanese. I have been living in Japan for about 16 years. However, I still cannot speak Japanese.
I see you working out. I love working out myself. I was 135 kg. I'm 107 kg now.
Lets be digital gym buddies!!! I currently have a love hate relationship with the weird glute spreader machine. What do you like to do?
@@kemushichan I just saw your reply. I was studying some chess opening. I love chess so much. I study and play chess every day. I plan to play at a chess tournament in Japan. but, I'm not ready yet. However, I believe that I can win...
Sure, we can be digital gym buddies. I am currently doing a 4-day classic split. I really love the 4-day classic split and the 3-day classic split.
Mondays are my Upper A workout days
Tuesday are my Lower A workout days
Wens: my rest day.
Thursdays are my Upper B workout days
Fridays are my Lower B workout days
Sat & Sun are my off days.
I love just about everything in the gym except for " deadlift and squats". I don't do those workouts. I hate deadlifts and squats with a passion.
I use Gold's Gym because they have a variety of workout equipments or machines. Plus the staff will show you for free how to perform whatever workout you want to do.
Isn't it more of an inconvenience to not learn Japanese after 16 years?
@@Ell.06 One of the hardest things when you’re trying to effect change is that… people, like you, are right, in some areas. Perhaps what is considered to be a pain to you may be in fact the complete opposite to others. Evidently, I am able to survive in areas where you may not be able to thrive. Isn't it obvious that I"m doing something correctly if i"m able to live in Japan for 16 years without learning how to communicate 100 percent in Japanese?
@@kook2live836 I mean I guess but I'm just more curious about your thought process. I've lived in The Netherlands for a number of years and I've felt a natural compulsion to learn Dutch in order to function and fit in, I can't imagine not having that compulsion and just going on without learning.
OK OK I see you with that slick editing 👀👀
Hahahhaha!!! Anything in particular stand out to you?
You staying positive thru all that is going on in the world right now. Thank you for being yourself, funny and upbeat!
I was going to Japan next month but had to cancel the trip due to Covid... It's such a disappointment. And to know that all the investment and hard work Japan put in the Olympics may be for nothing or delayed... It's just sad. But I hope you all stay safe and healthy! Whatever has to happen, will happen. Sending love from Brazil! I love your channel and hope I can be granted the MEXT scholarship next year!!
Gabriela Cardial ah I’m hoping to do the mext scholarship too.
@@bigtimerusher5446 best of luck to you!! I'm sooo excited and anxious about it 😖
Don't worry about what others might think, I'm grateful for your videos. Even if I'm not planning to apply for a scholarship right now it's useful to know in order to be prepared for the future! Please continue doing your videos the way you have so far. On the bright side= This is an opportunity to spend more time with your family ( doggie included) and maybe take an online course? Read a lot? Watch anime or TV shows? Start planning new videos?maybe even adventure to the county side ( I bet not a lot of people would travel this days. I admire you and enjoyed the whole video. Good luck! 頑張!
I'm going to make that grain bowl for next weeks meal prep. It looks DELICIOUS🤤 Please stay safe during this outbreak. I live in the sticks NC and cases are popping up in my back yard. Its appearing in places I thought impossible and it's very worrying.
Due to the lack of stability literally everywhere and in all parts of our lives right now I honestly appreciate the stability of people posting their thoughts and everything so thank you so much for this 💞
Just upload!!! I love your videos no matter the season. Especially since now going to Japan is on hold for most people 😭💔
Please keep posting and thank you very much for your content. It's the most relevant and detailed. Plus, if I can't use it now, I can use it later!
Thank you for your honest take on how this is affecting you and your family in Japan. We are seeing from alot of RUclipsrs in Japan give mixed messages on what life is currently like in Japan. Obviously things are different for everybody. But stay positive and stay healthy. Hopefully we will see things chill out and become less grim by the end of April.
Peace and Love!
Hi Loretta san 👋
I’ve been watching your videos for years and I think I have never comment but your attitude in this video is on point, spreading worries around is going to worsen the situation.
Thank you for your amazing channel 🌸
Please continue the Interviewing/Job Hunting series! The world isn’t going to end from the current events. The info should still be helpful in the future once the panic subsides. ❤️
When you told Boomer そうでしょう?and he responded そうですねっ made me chuckle lol 😆 love the videos 🙌🏾 Editing is definitely improving, with some of your shots esp in the beginning i feel like im watching the start of a movie :)
Loved the Blues Clues bit! 😂
Hang in there during this crazy time!
Wow I heard on Instagram that this video was beautifully edited and YES it really was!
I remember watching your video "I am going to Japan". I wanted to know how did you learn to speak and read Japanese so well. My do it was totally impossible. I cannot believe all these years later, I have taught myself how to read and write in Hiragana and Katakana. I am still afraid of Kanji.
Could you make a video on how to apply for a different types of Visas I feel like you of all people who are part of japan vlog Community will really help people like me who are trying to apply but don’t know where to do so. You’re really informative and get straight to the point which I honestly love the most about you besides the fact that you seem so genuine and kind hearted.
Everything everything everything. Is exactly how I feel. Canada here. I keep hope and faith for everyone worldwide ❤️
I like your videos:)Good for English learners as well as anyone is curious about Japanese current society !!
I worked in Yaesu for a few years. That curvy, silver building to the left in the opening shot. You too?
Green boy for me 😉
I was planning to come to Japan for two weeks myself.
I am always amazed at your video editing skills! Thanks for the updates!
Curious, did you like a specific point? 😍
@@kemushichan I would say the zoom in feature pretty cool
@@kemushichan For me, I like the subtle details you add. For example, @3:12 -@3:14, the animation edited in made for a really smooth and visually appealing transition.
@@Randosam heheh! Yeah those are the extra fun parts for me😍
I am just starting work at an eikaiwa in Osaka in a few days. I've been to Japan a couple times in the past few years, but living and working here will be totally new to me. It seems like coronavirus has really forced Japan into a standstill for a lot of things (school, even taxes!?), breaking the stereotypes of Japan that people typically have.
Caskie hi I’m going there next Thursday for a holiday. Are restaurants stores parks shi es closed ?
I need advice
@@sarah3796 Not yet, no. I'm sure in some areas, people may have done that. But so far, there aren't any restaurants or convenience stores around me that have closed.
Caskie ahhh thank you. I know the galleries and theme parks have closed 😶 but hopefully it’ll be ok
I'm surprised gyms are open in Japan! Here in Québec, there were closed by the government for at least two weeks.
I loved this video so much!! very human, and interesting.
Please keep doing videos! I use your videos to learn more about japanese, from my house! Im always happy to see your new updates.
Hope u get even more good news :D
You're doing great! I'd like to watch those videos about scholarships and jobs stuff 😊 all in all, this virus thing... I can't help wondering why people got so enormously agitated about it... I mean, it's not forever, isn't it?
Your videos are so informative of what I think are the important day to day of living in Japan. I'm so glad I subscribed and I hope this year is much better :)

Black beans are definitely one of my faves. I don't know what it is about them but they're so delicious.
If it's not too much work can you please keep doing the THX thing when your camera refocuses. It's hilarious.
Just today I was on Google Earth, daydreaming about places I’d like to visit/live in Japan, and I found Akita! Sure enough, here you are talking about it in this video. It’s looks so amazing there. Also, I perked up a lot, when you started singing the Blues Clues theme song.
