Of all the things that the DCU needs to be successful, the ironed out specifics of connecting canon between a couple DCEU projects and the new one will NOT determine the money. Most people don’t know or care and want good entertainment. I mean TSS and Peacemaker are mostly canon short of JL cameo, boom. Why do you need even more explaining than that? It’s not rocket science. How many times has the MCU fucked up canon and made wacky plot hole level choices?
At the end of the day if I’m watching a good movie, I’m not going to care if something breaks canon. That being said, I would rather it all work together.
Nah that’s just a excuse to be lazy and not have to worry about continuity so they gonna use the same actors and have completely different stories that don’t go together
As somebody who is completely on board with James Gunn as new leader for the DC movies I completely agree with him on focusing more on creativity then being about canon. Let me explain my side so that nobody considers me a Gunn defender (CoughSynderFansCough) The real reason why Batman v Superman was a disappointment wasn't so much because of the quality but because it was a 250 million dollar movie with a niche appeal. It wasn't appealing towards general audiences as it was too melodramatic and comic booky to them, it didn't appeal to fans due to being too deconstructive to the point of changing so much from canon (IE killing off Dick Grayson), and it didn't appeal to children because it was too dark and having these iconic superheroes doing so many unheroic actions like Superman straight up rocketing a terrorist through brick walls comes off as too intimidating. Not going to bad mouth Snyder but the truth is that his movie wasn't made for a wider audience. If it was it's own thing and made that point clear it could be it's own interesting elseworld story. But that's not what anybody wanted and so we got a movie that turned the majority off. And ever since then WB has been a headless chicken not knowing what to do with their movies anymore which hurt the continuity. That was DCEU's problem, now to focus on MCU's current problem. Basically for Marvel it's because they had to restart their story while still continuing from after Endgame. Now their attempt to keep it's continuity has became the thing that's been hurting the series as now they don't have their heavy hitters like Iron Man and Captain America anymore. All of the character's stories have ended. It's now just a undead zombie. Struggling to stay alive and relevant now. And also focusing too much on the continuity also meant limiting the team's creativity so that's also a problem. And this is why I'm optimistic about James Gunn's new take on DC: Because he's seen the issues that plagued both DC and Marvel and is learning from them. DC had no clear vision and the vision that it originally went with just wasn't for a wider audience and instead of abandoning it and going for a new direction they just kept on keeping it alive which only made them lose more money. Marvel is suffering from not only where to go while trying to keep things consistent. The tragic death of Chadwick Boisman is proof that their strategy is now weakening. Basically two extremes. James Gunn's take will care about continuity it's just that it's going to work more like James Bond where his actor has changed over the years. It's not the actor that makes the character, the actor just brings them to life. The character is what makes the character.
I’m referring to what James Gunn said in the interview about how there are different interpretations of DC characters in comics and movies and it’s about delivering a character driven story, the character is what makes it interesting (in my personal opinion at least). And I’m excited to see what James does going forward. Also I didn’t make the previous comment to say that Snyder fans need to understand this, but in general we all need to understand this that there can be differences in the way a character is portrayed on screen and the comic version. The point is we can enjoy all what works and voice our concerns when something doesn’t.
@aniruddhakale930 Thanks for the clarification. I'm still very much hopeful for Superman, especially after the positive reviews Creature Commandos is getting. I'll also be looking forward to the Supergirl, Swamp Thing, and Teen Titans movies as well. After all, the superhero bubble may have bursted, but like all bubbles they can be built back up again. And maybe this time it'll be DC's time to shine while Marvel works on getting theirs again.
Captain Marvel didn’t make a billion dollars because of wide appeal or quality, the second movie proved that, it made so much because Marvel trained people to watch every project regardless of appeal to stay in the know for later payoffs. Without that aspect, it won’t matter how good Gunn’s projects are, it doesn’t guarantee Marvel-levels of success especially for lesser known IPs like Creature Commandos, which people aren’t even aware of being connected to anything let alone the start of a new DCU canon. Every project can be a masterpiece but if there’s no meaningful connections between them building up to a grander masterpiece, it won’t matter.

Short Answer, Yes! Of course story canon matters. You need to have a great "Story continuity" in fact or fiction storying! "Story continuity" refers to the consistent flow and logical progression of events, characters, and details within a narrative, ensuring that the story remains absolute cohesive and believable from one scene to the next, without any major contradictions or inconsistencies.

I’m one of those that just doesn’t care about canon lol just give me something good to watch
I know he's trying to be funny, but these fantasy worlds are escapes for a lot of passionate fans. The same fan passion that leads these moves making billions and these men becoming millionaires. Don't be dismissive.
it doesn't have to go as far as the mcu took it but it's still important for individual franchises. If producers don't care no one else will either. (but there are rare exceptions like the Bond films)
He obviously cares he's creating a whole connected universe
@BusterBarnes a new one? this one will take off, unlike the last one?
@kngrfdegj5940 Guess we'll find out. One things for sure it already has a better structure around it lol. Alotnof pressure on Superman to be good but I have faith 🔥
Listen I understand it’s not real but the whole point is for us to escape reality and enjoy video games or movies and for them to make sense it should connect
It literally will connect lol Gunns already said Creature Commandos connects to Superman, Peacemaker and Lanterns
Canon-obsessors are actual children
Thank you for your dedication and passion for content creation. Your videos are always inspiring!🤸🐺🤪
Lol DC Trash MultiVerse or Whatever that shit is called now. So Copy and Paste By Gunn 💀🤦 I'm not excited for Both Fantastic Four and Superman both Ass writing from leaks Female Surfer is Not my cup of Tea, and Superman Needing help from other Heroes in his first movie lol
As a dnd DM, I also have to remind the players every so often that everything is imaginary. It helps for everyone to remember why are we there, to have fun doing cool stuff. Cannon and consistency are great, but they can easily stop imagination and fun.
No love Dcu comics 🤢🤢🤢🤢🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮👎👎👎👎👎👎💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔
Hero worship, smelly nerds
Just let him cook. 🫡
Your videos are not just information, they are true art. Thank you for your contribution to the culture on RUclips!🟧🏂❤️
My attempt at a romantic picnic ended with ants invading our blanket. Nothing kills the mood like trying to defend your sandwich from a swarm of insects👄
My husband tried to impress me with a sexy Halloween costume. He showed up dressed as a giant taco. I think he misunderstood the concept of "spicy.💋
