    I also have Passche airbrushes & I have used, with success, straws from spray pumps, the clear or white skinny straws. If they have a problem fitting on the paint bottle cap you can heat the end with a hair dryer to soften the straw end to fit the cap nipple, then let it cool. Trim to length, cut a V on the bottom so it doesn't clog against bottle side. I reused old Floquil bottles, 2oz to mix Testors enamels. The straws were also sold as bottle parts, but are hard to find in longer sizes.

    Thank you for this video, I watch and follow your builds pretty regularly. I'm just getting ready to start airbrushing and I think for me currently it'll be the lacquer because of no mixing. Also great build on that Ranger. I had a regular cab flairside box in oxford white. Mine was a 98 4x4 it was by far my favorite truck I owned. The 5 speed upped the fun factor a lot

      I appreciate you following along, I do like the lacquer paints for that also and for the dry time. I had a 93 ranger 4x4 in the day auto, was a fun truck with a 3.0, my first Ranger was a 88 two tone long box, stick with a 2.3 loved that thing.. Let me know how the paint work goes. Have any questions will try to help.

    Thanks Greg for sharing this video!!! Awesome that you did a comparison with enamel and lacquer. I just started to become involved with MCW paints.

    The yellow mustang is gorgeous !
    I've not sprayed any of the MCW enamel, only lacquer and I don't have words to describe it except to say that it almost sprays itself ..... it covers great and levels out awesome. I always tended to spray light coats so I had a big adjustment to make in my painting technique when Mike told me to "SPRAY WET COATS" LOL. And you would have to dump the material on to get a run in it !
    Great video ! 🍻

      Yes the Lacquer is amazing, was my first time using. I bought an assortment of colors and itching to try some of the lacquer metallic.. You should try the enamels the shine is unreal.

    Great how to video. Love it. One great thing about MCW is they have a paint reference guide. Every color by year, by manufacturers, by model. If you want to do an accurate recreation.

      Thanks Dale! Yes how cool is that? I thought about buying the color chart book MCW sells. I'm into model railroad also and they have all the accurate road colors, one stop shop... Have a good weekend!

    Nice job that paint is awesome! What’s cool is he’s got the ability to make your paint if it’s not ready made! If it’s in the mixing profile of the avail year of the vehicle ! It so cool thx for sharing!

    Good comparison. I’ve been spraying their lacquers for the last 2 years, but this year I’ve acclimated to their enamels as well as learning to use all my Model masters enamels. I’m going to get rid of all my MCW lacquers. Bang for the buck, I get more from the enamels, and with my dehydrator mine get cured in less than 24 hours. I’m going to stick with my other lacquers I use though.👍👍

      @kregskorner8851  2 года назад +1

      Hi Robert, I do like the ease of the lacquers with the durability, and the deep shines with the enamels.. For sure I use more paint with the lacquers, and the dehydrator was one of my beast investments for those enamels, I think its a must have if your doing a lot of them.. Have a good weekend!

    Just remember that the factory used Gray or Red Oxide primers. So using these types of primers will give you a more accurate color.

      Right, I primed the yellow car with gray and left the rear valance in white, for sure has slight difference..

    Nice work But Im still running a Pash H from the early 80's guess I will need to figure out what PSI to run my compressor at have a couple bottles of MCW one for the Meng 1/24th scale GT40 Im working on and a Revell 427 cobra Now I wont worry about what it will do to the body other than shine

    I have never used hardener. Wasn't really available back when I built kits, but thinking of getting back in the hobby.
    Does it work with both enamel and lacquer? And is it better/shinier with one or the other?
    Also, thank you for changing your camera so first scene is not reverse-imaged. 👍

    • @kregskorner8851
      @kregskorner8851  2 года назад

      Jump back in! A lot of the old kits are coming back, with improvements.. No hardener for the lacquer just the enamel, enamel shins the better in my opinion with some hardener, though you don't have to use it, will take a lot longer to cure. Your welcome on the camera lol

    I was told not to use liquor with an airbrush like the one you had in your video because to clean it, you need to use liquor thinner. The rubber seals get destroyed. What say you?

  • @borna430

    Can enamel without hardener be used on a full size classic car? I want to paint my 66 VW but I want to stay way from Isocyanate in the hardener. What is my option?

    • @kregskorner8851
      @kregskorner8851  Год назад

      I use to paint real cars back in the day, always used the hardeners, depending on the paint, there is a few I believe you can use without, takes longer to dry/cure,

      I believe it was cold out that day and was working in the garage before I went in to the model room, it's a Snap-On beanie, probably first one I found walking out the door that day. I find it's one of those hats that ride up your head and keep having to pull it down lol, usually don't put it on very often..

    • @kregskorner8851

      I know, not sure what my thought process was at the time.. I had just started to use the MCW paints and having some mixing concerns with spraying too dry so I would try mixing it at different percent's and keeping track on what sprayed the best.. now I have it figured out with a good mix ratio I use the plastic measuring cups now, only two per paint job lol.. Thanks for the comment Kevin, Have a good one!

    I came across your channel by chance.
    Lol..... I JUST shot the body of this Mach 1 Mustang last night. I had no intention of building this kit but it was $18. at Walmart. So I bought it and decided to build it right away. I used a 1/4 oz bottle of Testors Drk Red and used a 2:1 Ratio of Tamiya Lacquer thinner with a Paasche HO120
    I have to say that this is my BEST
    paint job to date. Flawless. I need no clear coat . Up until now, I would cut my testors paint with the mild lacquer thinner I get from Home Depot. My question is.....
    Was it the Tamiya thinner that made the difference ? Anyway, I'm just rambling on, blah blah blah .....sorry .
    Anyway.....U R SUBBED ! Looking forward to your builds.
    Thanks for taking the time to read my comments . Howard

      Thanks Howard, The best thinner I have found is Mr. Hobby Mr.Color Leveling Thinner 400, its a bit pricey, a friend of mine says its Unicorn tears lol. Works great in lacquer and enamels of most brands. Its has a slow dry time.. Its my go to.. Give it a try works good.. Thanks for the comment, have a good one!
