I definitely like the cask strength ones i've tried. their newer experimental series i haven't seen yet in the wild, but i'lll probably pick one up. Cheers Dave
Hey Marvin! Redwood empire does a great job and I have liked all the whiskeys I have tried from them so far! Thanks a million for your view and comment! Have a fantastic day and cheers ~
It's a good rye, but what I would do is save this bottle for a couple of months and have some others "sweeter" ryes that I mentioned in the video and jump back on to the Redwood Empire Emerald Giant. Or waiting till the weather gets a colder helps as well as the spice seems to be a welcoming note with the snow 😆. Thanks a ton for your view and comment! Greatly appreciate it and cheers ~
Hey Dave! Redwood Empire is making magic up there in Sonoma County 😆. Just wish their bottled in bond and other offerings were slightly cheaper 😅. Always thankful for all your views and comments! Have a wonderful weekend and cheers ~
Hey Gandy Road! If you haven't had any of the Redwood Empires yet, I would definitely try to the Pipe Dream CS or Lost Monarch CS before the rye. But all three are delicious and if you like Rye whiskeys, you'll like this one 😆. Thank you so much for you watching and commenting on my video so soon after launch as you always do! I truly appreciate it and cheers~
Pikesville Rye was my 1st true rye whiskey that I bought and love it. I do like Lost Monarch better than Pipe Dream, so apparently I do like higher rye bourbons. Have you made a video on your best budget rye whiskeys? (I know everyone's budget is different) I'm thinking $30-60 as a range I like to stay in. Thanks for the review David.
Hey Andre! I don't think I have made a value list just based on Ryes. I did do a couple of comparison videos between budget ryes, but not a list. Maybe it is time to do one 😆. Always appreciate your support with quick check in on my videos! Have a warm day and cheers~
Hey Jonathan! Nice find! Once you get it and have a pour, let me know how you like it as I'm a big fan of Wheated bourbons AND Redwood Empire 😆 Thanks a billion for being a RUclips member and supporting my small channel! Have a fantastic day and cheers~
Excellent review and comparison! Thank you! I'm still dabbling (and love) with Pikesville, JD Bonded Rye, JD SBBP Rye, and Russel's SB Rye... love those, but the 90%+ ryes have me a little hesitant to give them a try.
Hey John! If you're into Russell's Rye, then it might be time to enter the 95% rye world 😆. But maybe in the fall. The higher spice really does go better with the colder weather. Thanks a ton for your view and comment! Greatly appreciate it and cheers ~
I appreciate this review since I have not gotten around to purchasing either of these yet. I have several rye whiskeys lately and have taken a liking to them. I plan on picking up the regular at Hi Proof when The Screaming Giant comes in.
Hey Jim! Hi Proof seems like a great store and one I need to visit very soon, but just haven't been able to as it is a little far away from me. I'll be there someday 😆 Truly appreciate your support with quick check in on my videos! Have a fantastic week and cheers~
MPG or Squidward and SpongeBob whatever they call themselves today do a great job and I've had all Redwood juices except that one I knew it would be good, maybe the best high proof I've ever had came from them by way of Old Scout and I got it on sale years ago when I was attending a funeral or wedding ( same thing) in southern Illinois and I'll never forget it ,I liked it so much I stayed in touch with the folks at Smooth Ambler ( Old Scout) hoping to find more.great review as always.🥃
Hey Frank! I have to admit, I haven't tried too many of the Old Scout whiskeys as I missed out on all the older aged releases and the 4 to 6 year old releases they have these days haven't received the best reviews. Maybe it is time I grab a bottle or two 😆. Thank you so much for you watching and commenting on my video so soon after launch as you always do! Have a wonderful day and cheers~
@@WhiskeyBank They used to source at MPG when I found that bottle years ago, They only recently started their own distilling,I like their high proof which seems like a common theme with me.🥃✌️
Emerald giant is my favorite out of their lineup. Haven’t been able to find the bib or cask strength yet may order directly from them to try. Pipe dream is my second choice the burrye is ok but not my favorite. Just saying. I’d pay the 75 for the cask without an issue.
Hey Scott! If you like the Emerald Giant, you'll love the cask strength! It has just enough of their own whiskey to give it a chocolate note to round out the experience! If you get a chance to try it, let me know how you like it. Always appreciate your views and comments! Have a fantastic weekend and cheers ~
Great review as always. Love Redwood Empire offerings I have…Pipe Dream regular and Cask Strength, Lost Monarch regular and Cask Strength and Devil’s Tower. Have not tried the Emerald Giant. Looking for the Screaming Titan Wheated Bourbon. 🥃
Hey Dave! I would say since you're not too much of a Rye person that this bottle wouldn't be too much in your palate profile as it is very Rye forward with lots of citrus and floral notes. The others you have listed are probably much more suited for your palate and I also am looking forward to the Screaming Titan 😆 Always appreciate your support with quick check in on my videos! Always take care my friend and cheers~
David, Every time I walk through Hi-Time I am torn, do I upgrade to Emerald Giant CS or Rocket top, or do I get Pipe Dream CS or Grizzly Beast. So with that delima I end up not buying any Redwood Empire upgrade. Maybe one day I'll finally pull the trigger. I have a Stellum rye store pick that is very similar to my bottle of Emerald Giant. Stands to figure because they are both 95/5 MGP. I think that I likely go the bourbon route since I have enough ryes sitting on the shelf. Great review ! This I'm sure will help someone who is maybe looking for an upgrade. D
Hey Dana! Walking down the aisles at Hi-Times is always dangerous as I always grab a bottle or two on the way out 😆. Since you have many great ryes on your bar, I would wait and hold until something great comes along. Thanks a million for being a RUclips member and supporting my channel! Will never forget it and take care my friend! Cheers~
I enjoy both expressions so I absolutely pay the extra for the cask strength! I am a single malt scotch lover but I also like a sip of Rye and Bourbon sometimes! This distillery is awesome! Canada charges more but even then both are worth the price! I’d like more spice! Love it! Cheers!!
Hey Christine! More spice?? 😆 the cask strength sure did pack a spice punch 🤪. Thanks for watching from up north in Canada and have a wonderful day! Cheers~
@@WhiskeyBank Lol! I admit I love spice in Rye!! I am in Vancouver - 2 1/2 hours from Seattle - very mild here!! Thanks for the awesome reply! Love your channel!! Cheers!
For me, the Redwood Empire Rye is a good starter rye. The cask strength hasn’t dropped in my area but a good cask strength or barrel proof one is James E Pepper barrel proof rye. It’s MGP 95/5 and it’s super good while being much less than the Cask Strength Redwood Empire Rye.
Hey Dean! I have not tried the James E. Pepper barrel proof rye but will need to look for one now to compare to this cask strength rye 😆. Greatly appreciate your support with quick check in on my videos! Have a wonderful week and cheers~
Haven’t tried these or any 95-5 ryes. I like the sweeter notes. I will say I have had Pipe Dream and now the Cask strength version and the jury is still out. Need to go back to it to make a final determination. Cheers David, keep going with the great content. 🥃
Hey Keith! The standard lineup cask strength are fun and slightly unique as they blend in their own whiskeys and are priced reasonably in my area ($65 to $70). Anything above that though, it's a tough sell. Their bottled in bonds and high rye whiskeys are good but the price point is a bit too much at $80+ and sometimes close to $100. Due to that, I haven't purchased a bottle yet. 😕. So appreciative of all your support and kind words 🙏. Enjoy your evening and cheers~
I've had Pipedream and Lost monarch, initially I didn't like the bourye combo of the Lost Monarch, but after awhile it opened up nicely and the citrus note was pleasant. Still haven't venture into of of their cask strength versions.
Hey Minh! Emerald Giant is a rye drinkers rye so it might be a good thing to take your time to try these bottles. I do like my ryes so I did enjoy both offerings, but I can see how it can be too rye forward for many bourbon drinkers. If you ever do get a chance to try either, let me know how you like them! I truly appreciate you watching and commenting on my video so soon after launch! Thanks a ton and cheers~
Would you ever consider doing scotch, or European whiskeys in general? Bourbon is good and all but honestly in my opinion they all taste 90% the same but European whiskey is where you really get a whole new world of flavors
I have not thought about doing scotch, single malts, or European whiskeys in general as I don't have the love and passion (yet? 🤣) for them like I do with bourbons. If I do develop the passion and can confidently produce content that I know shows it, I will do it 😆. For now, bourbons and American Whiskeys it is 😎. Thanks a ton for your view and comment! Super appreciate it and cheers ~
Nice job! I enjoy both regular strength and cask strength! I have all three offerings of each and there are certain things I like about each. My favorite is Lost Monarch regular followed by Emerald Giant cask. I picked up the regular’s for 32.00 each and my store owner friend sold me the cask for 52.00 each so all are a good value for me:) I’m waiting for my Devil’s Tower to come.
Hey Nick! Your friend is awesome and $52 for the cask strength is a buy double times! 😆 Truly appreciate your support with quick check in on my videos! Have a great evening and cheers~

New editing software = new graphics 😆. Hopefully I'll be a fast learner and do more cool editing soon~
Recently bought the cast strength rye and its hot. Just got into rye maybe 4-5 months ago and maybe I stepped up too soon in proof rye
