    6:20 Holy shit, I now know what Dutch means when he jokes about how Dillon doesn’t stop talking. I paid no attention to him explaining until after the experiment Dutch finished doing 😅
    Great ep!!

    This review was wild! "It didn't feel like a rye"???? Whaaaaaaaaaaaat? Sagamore Spirit Rye is one of the most Ryeyyy Ryes out there haha

    Don't forget the Inception style private security detail that Dillon requires on his private jet. One guy is handcuffed to a metal briefcase that secures Dillon's GTS collection within.

    I love this one should have scored higher for the simple fact that you are not getting much else cask strength aged stated rye for that price

    Some of the finished Sagamore is very good IMO, really enjoy the Sherry finish as I cannot get the Port finish. I have a Dusty Dan 7 year pick and it is excellent as well.

    You guys should try something unique. Paul John Mithuna. Very curious what you all think. I love it

    How does this stack up to the regular cask strength or the Double Oaked?

      I've only had the original rye - which I enjoyed as well. Will have to try the 2x oak and CS versions for comparison!

    Appreciate your videos as always but thought your scores were way low! Should be a Gold imo, great juice. Maybe let it open up for a few weeks and go back to it.

    Have you guys reviewed the Dickel collaboration rye with Leopold Bros.? I scrolled through past videos and didn't see it. It's $105 in my area and I'm going to pick up a third, possibly fourth one, today. Phenomenally stupendous whiskey; bestest rye I've ever gulped!

    Fully off topic, but you guys know way more about rum than me: Couple months ago i opened a 25yo Flor de Cana, which so far tastes way less impressive (or expressive) than their 12yo bottle. Does this happen more often with rum? In scotch i've almost always been more attracted to the older offerings of a line - but the older Flor seemed less flavorful than the younger one even. What gives?

    • @CuriosityPublic
      @CuriosityPublic  Год назад

      A lot of brands use misleading "age statements" for rum - depending on the country - there can be no regulation of the nomenclature. They will sometimes use a solera method, and age state the OLDEST rum, not the youngest, etc. The addition of sugar is also rampant (not sure about FDC in this case). In things like Foursquare - you can definitely taste the impact of the age when comparing the younger stuff to their 16 year stuff. But rums vary a lot by location/style. The climate can have a huge impact too. Long way of saying - it is inconsistent and brand/country dependent and I'm not very familiar with FDC

    Great review, but i disagree a bit with Jules. It should be judged on overall flavor, not based on well its a rye it should have rye spices. Ive not heard him argue that bourbon needs yo have corn flavor.

    Michter’s Barrel Strength isn’t a good comparison, you have to use something age stated, and Dillon was right, that’s an EIGHT year rye, at a great value! 👍

    Dudes! WTH kinda scores are these?? Humble Dillon was closest to the truth. 8 year rye, wonderful deep flavor, ok the finish is a bit short, but c’mon. This in an 80+ point bottle

    Their 7-year barrel selects are fantastic at $62 in my area. Sagamore definitely lacks the grassy, dilly, herbal essence of many MGPs, but come on! The spice is there and forms a wonderful marriage with the oak at least at 7 years old. It's like liquid cinnamon graham cracker.

    I got a bottle of this not too long ago because people were saying great things about it. I'm not a fan, and I'm starting to think that Sagamore is a bit overhyped. I prefer Old Scout or Pinhook ryes (also MGP).
