Hey Dana! Instead of the "final rating" or decision made on reviews, especially for Barrell products, people will need to pay attention to the nose and tasting notes to see if the Barrell product in question is right for them. I believe Barrell also noticed that they were doing too much and are now deciding to pull back by selling barrels and their new rickhouse. I think it's a wise decision and with how well they blend whiskeys, I'm positive we'll see some great products (but not as many) in 2025! I truly appreciate all your support and kindness! Hey Dave! Barrell always produces good stuff and all of their offerings are blended well with unique traits. But it seems the Bourbon crowd got "overwhelmed" with so many releases the past year or so as many people are saying that they have so many choices, they don't know what to get. But with how good their products are, I'm sure they'll make the right decisions to right the ship and make some great whiskeys! It is a great bottle to have especially if you never tried any Mizunara finished bourbons as this one is really affordable compared to other brands (and probably just as good but can't say for sure as I haven't had them 😆). @@WhiskeyBank I do have the Vantage which is pretty tasty too. It’s just buried in my closet haha

If I had to choose between the two, it would be Armida from $20 more. Sweet, fruity, and the rum influence is minor on that one, but if you don't like rum, then I would get the foundation. I have not had a Pinhook Rye before, maybe it's time to change that 😆. Hope that helps and have a fantastic day!

I can tell you that barrell foundations is crushable. A little expensive at 60 but it’s very good quality. Armida is one of the few I’ve never tasted so I can’t help you there. Pikesville is a fantastic rye for those (like me) that like the sweeter more bourbon centric barely legal Kentucky ryes. It’s a great proof point at 110 and I think goes for 55$ near me in NY.

Armida is light and fruity. Perfect for the summer heat

Hey Jim! Yeah, one of the issues with Barrell is that they have so many products and similar ones. This one is so similar to the Vantage that even though I have both, it is hard to justify buying both at these prices. But if you do run out of the Vantage, this one would be a great one to pick up at Hi Proof as they have the best price 😆. This is the ultimate love it or hate it bottle due to the Nevada "funk" that I like but others don't feel it. You should try their ryes as I heard they are amazing! Have a wonderful weekend and cheers ~

I was a bit surprised by the amount of mint and I just had it again couple nights ago and it didn't change much. Maybe I'm a little sensitive to it but it seems to be a bit overwhelming. Oh well, still a good pour but nothing I was expecting.

@@WhiskeyBank I am not a lawyer and I cant remember the video I was watching that mentioned the subject but essentially you have to have a liquor license otherwise you have to allow everyone (who's over 21) access to enter the giveaway... Your patreon is essentially paid access to get into the giveaway... every state is completely different, Id check with someone more knowledgeable on the subject!

You're right in that both were different in the past and maybe even better but they are still worth buying. I do have more recent batches of both bottles that are open and still enjoy them. It's unfortunate we can't go back in time (for a lot of things 🤣) to get the older batches so let's enjoy the ones we can get 👍. Have a wonderful evening and cheers ~

I also do like my knob creek single barrel but there are times I do want to proof down slightly and just enjoy a pour that is sweet, oaky, and delicious and KC12 hits the spot 😋. Sometimes there are bottles that don't do great in blinds but is just a delicious pour everytime you have it? For me, that was Maker's Mark BEP. Did a review and I killed it. Blinds, never did well. But when I just sit down and have a pour without my "review "hat on? Absolutely enjoyed it. Maybe the KC12 is that kind of whiskey for you 😆. Have a super fantastic day and cheers ~
