Blanton’s is special to a lot of people because that was their gateway bourbon. It’s absolutely not the best but it’s solid enough I’ll always have an open bottle at msrp. ✌🏼🇺🇸

I just bought the Stagg Jr batch 24C at a local store in NE Illinois for $175. My first time in the Stagg JR bourbon waters! Most I've paid for any bottle but was the best price in my area I've ever seen 've ever seen ..

Great review! When I see a Stagg at MSRP, I'll take it regardless the batch number and can't get too picky about it. Corked on Stearns liquor had a killer Stagg store pick and lucky my buddy gave me a sample to try. Great content as usual David! Cheers!

Weller SR at $27 is a buy. Widow Jane is now $79.99 in my area.......for 10 year old stuff that is probably still sourced. Still trying to make the mental jump between the sourced 10 YOs and the DSP 9-10 YOs...........I bought a bottle of the WJ.....good stuff.....but it went from $69.99 to $65 for a while, now its up to $79......I can still get KC12 Year in my area for $75, or KC9 for $36...... The NDP pricing for some of this product just doesnt compute for me......

Good thing tequila isn't as sought out as bourbon and we only have to worry about Fortaleza when it comes to taterbros because the prices here are insane.

My wife won first pick over the phone at our local grocery store raffle, the lady ran through the whole list and said weller at the end....we were like what weller? She responded back William larue weller!! I almost black out with excitement, 158.24$ out the door for a 2024 William larue weller.

Anything Calumet..... Never more. they are so proud of their horse heritage, they forgot to think about how to make whiskey. Horse piss filtered through dursban insecticide.

I’m a born and raised in New England kid and I have a weakness for maple finished whiskeys. I haven’t found one I didn’t like. Yes, I’m just drinking it because I love real maple syrup. Thanks for the list, I agree with you on every one that I have tried as well. I’ve finished 2 of the JD barrel ryes. If you get a chance you should try the Sagamore ryes, they are just getting through the MGP juice they sourced to their own distillate. The double oaked is outstanding.

I’m with you on all these. Just finished my 138 proof JDSBBPR and would 1000% buy it again. Of the 3 samples I got of the whistle pig the 12 was the stand out for me, even at a lower proof was the most complex and would buy it if I get lucky and find it cheap. Cheers!

I totally agree with all these picks, there are just too many good bottles at $50 to really justify bad or mediocre whiskey at the $80+ price point

Couldn’t agree with everything you stated, I had an opportunity to get a bottle or try everything on your list except the Good Times. The Barrel Seagrass went on last call $89 to $62 in my area, grabbed a couple. I bought the WP 12 store pick, for $130. I was supporting the store, so it was not worth it. Turned me off to the point I will avoid anything WP, except for the Piggyback. Stagg is always a buy for me, I’m thankful I can usually get a bottle or two from every drop at MSRP.

Great video! I wouldn’t even look at WSR at 60-70! I can go down to a few stores and grab a 1.75 of WSR for that price…. But then again, that’s TX. I also very much agree with you on the 2XO, it was solid as a fresh crack but now it’s just blah. Also the Widow Jane 10 yr, I hardly see it for less than 80

Agree with your buy more first 5. Love Seagrass and the Grey Label Seagrass. Haven’t tried the 2XO $50 bottle yet. I had a fantastic allocated season but will only mention the Stagg since in video. I got a case of 24B for msrp of $49.99 each. Never more is MWND. I like it a lot but not worth $150. It gets crushed by Sagamore Port which is $75

I spent $250 on a stagg, but it was a SP 139.7 proof almost hazmat and I had to have it lmao

I enjoy your channel. When I first took the plunge into collecting, to my everlasting shane, I bought Caribou Crossing for a secndary price. I don't know what its MSRP is, but its a hard pass on buying a new bottle. OTOH, hopefully I'll be buying a third bottle of John J Bowman.

Wellar SR just takes persistence on the Wal-Mart app. It's $28, super thin screw top grocery store whiskey. Last year was great for Stagg in my area. I paid $59.99 for 4 of the 5 I got.

Come to Oregon everything almost is at MSRP it's Illegal to sell over the MSRP price i don't get how California gets away with that

I went through a 1.5L of weller SR from Texas and loved it as a daily sipper. But yeah I’ve never seen a bottle for under 90 here in CA. Luckily eagle rares have been easier to find this season so I’ve been buying those up!

Whistle pig is an enigma. They're prices seemed kinda ok with the age statements until found north came out. I still think certain whistle pig offerings are delicious but found north price to value ratio just makes more sense

My friend lives close to a Binnys Chicagoland big store to let me know he got his hands on a Stagg JR for 59.99 and an Eagle Rare for 39 .99 than apologized limit one 😭 I coincidentally was near a different Binnys going to a restaurant I made my friend pull in to the nearest Binnys and of course no Stagg or Eagle Rare they had Henry McKenna for 64 which sadly before the San Francisco awards I used to get for about 26 bucks,the line was about 5 miles long and I said the hell with it, that might be the first time in my life I ever walked out of a liquor store empty handed , the agony of defeat.🥃

People told me I would never open my Weller SR... they were right, still unopened.
