Oddly enough, Mean Streak was my favorite ride for a while Mostly because it always had short lines and it had an awesome view of the beach and stuff. Steel Vengeance is a HUUUUGE improvement though

After Mean Streak, they closed down, and the company dissolved. Dinn's daughter actually founded CCI in 1991 (although they didn't build anything until 1992), and many of Dinn's staff joined, while others broke off into GCI and GG years later. So no, CCI didn't exist in the 70s.
My parents asked if I wanted to go to cedar point in 2017 or 2018. I said 2018 before this announcement. Then, a few days after we were supposed to go, steel vengeance was announced. I got lucky
Those were actually some original steel I-beams that were part of the ride structure from opening day. Many true wooden coasters contain a few steel support members.

Mean Streak is awesome! I love seeing other people get violently thrown into the person next to them on the ride hahahaha! It's never bad enough to hurt people, or else I wouldn't be laughing. Personally I think Magnum is worse. Magnum is actually painful, especially when your lap bar goes down one more notch and crushes your thighs. Cedar Creek Mine Ride is even worse than Magnum. I've actually gotten bruises on that ride. There isn't even any excitement in it to make up for the pain. I love Mean Streak's first drop where the friction makes you feel like the coaster is breaking. I'm so going to miss this ride :(
But we got Grizzly at KD, Thunderhawk at Dorney, Grizzly at CGA...Wildcat is the roughest GCI and would be great to see get RMCed absolutely but the roughest....Viper at Six Flags Great America, there's a lot of ones that are murder. Meanwhile they rmced roar which just needed a retracking and no one complains about plently that can use some work.

Mean Streak was a great coaster. I think it's funny how many people complaining here about the rough ride. It's a 160 foot wooden coaster, it's supposed to be rough! And it wasn't that bad anyway, no worse than The Beast, both great coasters. Only people complaining are the younger crowd that grew up with boring smooth steel coasters.

Mean Streak shouldn't be RMC'd IMO. It should get a retrack by GCI and have its trims removed. I watched a POV of when it was new... Went so much faster and looked awesome

actually some of the only smooth arrows are the suspendeds the best being Big Bad Wolf but we got verbolten now which is noice
