I live 8 hours south of Sandusky, and I've only been to Cedar Point twice. But I'm a huge coaster enthusiast, and I want to go back as soon as possible. Not to mention how beautiful Lake Erie is from the top of Millennium Force or Top Thrill Dragster.

At first i thought it was the intro to a defunctland video so my surprise was doubled when i heard kevin

I've been to Cedar Point many times, and this is completely accurate. One time I was riding the Gemini, and a steel beam came loose and nearly tore my nose off (old coaster, it happens). Thankfully once the ride was over, a kind employee rushed over to me and reminded me not to bleed out in front of other guests. Safety first!

I forget what park I went to as a kid, but it had that ride where you sit in a seat, it brings you wayyyy up and then drops you. Well I was too small for it I guess because my shoulders came out of the harness and I had to grab onto the chair on the way down. 0/10 never tried that again, still won't, no thanks.
@@damiencouturee6240 happened to me, too at lagoon when i was 8 or 9. too small to ride it and didn't notice i was falling out of it as the ride dropped, but my dad grabbed me.

That’s the whole premise of this channel. He makes a crude approximation of the original, but with outlandish descriptions rather than real ones. If you look at some of the original How It’s Made videos, you’ll see that he always roughly follows the original in his video.

if a kid isn't tall enough to ride and Karen says, "But they let him go on it before!" or "The manager said he could ride anyway" then it's okay to let them ride.
Also if a guest asks you to ignore safety rules and says "It's okay, I won't sue." Then not only will something _definitely_ not go wrong but they really won't sue.
If they could afford a lawyer they'd have gone to Disney.

I am a former Cedar Point employee and I would like to know how you obtained this video? This breaks all safety protocol showing this to the general public and puts everyone at a disadvantage in the yearly off season war. Many people will now be buried in those blue and red rides uniforms, those yellow sweeperette uniforms, and those green and purple games uniforms!

A lot of kids went missing in 1998.
But that never left the park.

exactly the funniest part is that my brain is hardwired to accept whatever he says as fact when it comes to theme parks so i kinda nodded along to it
The handicap part is sadly still alive and well. I went to Six Flags Magic Mountain and they decided to smash their flashpass line and ADA line together so even though I'm going to a different line I have to ask people to let me by so I can get to it. That went about as well as you'd expect.
Like the video said, legally they have to allow it, but they don't have to agree or advocate for disabled people wanting to enjoy amusement parks.
I went to 6 flags with my ex a couple of times who has type 1 diabetes and they gave her the ADA pass. At our 6 flags, the ADA line is literally the exit line which is separete from the flash pass

As someone who has had the displeasure of going to Cedar Point, I’m shocked that there wasn’t a segment of the training video about how to ignore, mistreat and talk down to customers trying to buy tickets at the front gate.

As someone who used to be a ride operator at a themepark, this was the best thing I've ever seen. Pretty spot on with how close to the surface the "safety [not getting sued] is our first priority" thing runs through all of the training.
Defunctland will turn a sane man into a themepark nutter. I will never be the same.

It's butts nuts how long you've been able to keep this gimmick fresh, finding new styles and jokes the entire way, and I'd say this is easily one of your best, next to the Inside Out one.
As a former theme park ride operator, they used this same video to train us. Thank you for sharing with everyone how safe they will be with our proper training.

I remember one time my school's choir tried to get people onto a field trip to cedar point. I was sick when that day arrived (and I wasn't planning on going anyway) so I stayed home. It ended up raining the day they went and around 20 people got sick and they all described the park to me as "boring when without friends"

It mostly depends on how many employees are hired and their attitude. Unfortunately my team was mostly around the 16-18 age and their work effort wasn’t all their. But can’t blame them, they are only in high school
Worked in food and beverage department and sadly the supervisors didn’t put more focus on safety but instead wanted more efficiency.

I worked at Carowinds recently (a sister park under Cedar Fair) and the orientation video they played for everyone was extremely similar to this one. Very outdated.
I worked a few summers at an amusement park in New Hampshire that looked a lot like this one. I wouldn't say it was soul crushing, but that has been said by others who worked there.
Even visiting Canobie is soul-crushing, much less working there.
