Scarecrow found his sexualized appearance in the comic very offensive and demeaning to his theme, and as one of Batman's villains, he knows how one bad representation in a popular game or movie can ruin him in the public eye for years! And, like, he needs people to be scared of him, that's his Gimmick, he's not going to just wait it out if this gets popular, he has things to do!

There's also a comic book where batman and robin (dick grayson) fight a woman named pigeon person in a hostess food ad who ends up becoming a real Nightwing villain called pigeon

I would not blame the writers (mostly). Decisions come top-down from management with requirements and creative restriction. If the executive says "have a big action scene with the Ridler at the climax of the story" that is a requirement that needs to be met. Leaving the writers to polish up the pieces Do the writers know anything about gaming? Not for me to know, Is the writing awful? Yes
Additionally, I imagine if Clayface was in this they would make it so that he disguises as one of the members and another one of the members say "Careful guys! There seems to be an *impostor among us*"
My friends and I have been waiting with baited breath for "Riddle me this, gamers" for a long time. To see it in something like this made all of us collectively loose our entire minds.
Two things about this story. One, the Nygma Box is dangerously close to "The Box" from Batman Forever. Except instead of stealing people's brainwaves to make him smarter, it mind controls them to commit crimes. Which brings me to my next point, mind control is more a Jervis Tetch thing than a Riddler thing. And yes, Huggbees' version was a far better story than what we actually got.
I like your version WAY better. It’d be cool if they actually referenced high skill techniques. Let Faze Clan take a moment to understand the physics of the game world so they can abuse it. Imagine them figuring out they can build momentum on a hill before bunny-hopping from objective to objective.
I like the idea of them using exploits as another way to bruise Riddler's ego, infuriating him by highlighting the flaws in _his_ game, while also potentially helping them not die when Riddler goes god-mode-admin-abuser.
I like how his version actually works _better_ as a promotion of the Faze Clan, makes them look smarter and braver, all while being truer and more respectful to the original Batman setting and characters. In the version we actually got, Batman and Faze Clan both look like idiots who only won because the Riddler is also an idiot.
One of the tokens is hidden behind a door locked with an impossible-sounding riddle. The riddler gloats about how the dumb gamers know nothing. Then, one responds "I *know* the physics in your game is actual trash" & picks up a trashcan lid off the street. He presses it against the door & runs into it. After a few seconds of colliding with the wall at odd angles, he clips through, grabs the token, & opens the door from the other side.
There’s actually a bit of clever writing in your script for a proper comic. Usually, rage and anger leads to poor play and performance across pretty much all games. The Riddler, letting his emotions getting the best of him, helps bolster a message of keeping your cool in tense situations.
I love how in the joker fruit pie story, there isn’t any crazy reason he doesn’t like the “magical fruit pies”, he just doesn’t like them that much so he must be crazy

I have to admit, your story is undeniably better than the one DC came out with, if it isn't for the fact that all the effort of somehow getting Faze Clan into the story requires the completion of the game without tempering the game by any means necessary, something Faze is also infamous of doing so. (Context: several members of Faze have been multiple times caught cheating in multiple video games)

The thing that strikes me as incredibly odd about this, is just *how bad* this obvious cashgrab of a comic actually is. Considering how the Batman/Fortnight crossover one (while no mean a masterpiece) managed to not only be serviceable on a basic level, but actually made sense given the setting. I’m still trying to figure out HOW and WHY this exists, but at the very least, I’m glad it provided you with something to work off of. I really enjoy your work, especially so when you talk about comic book stuff. Maybe one day DC will let you write a Batman comic, and if they do, I hope to God it’s a Riddler one.
Huggbees vs The Riddler. (He interns for him, constantly picks apart what he's doing, belittles Edward's motives, then its revealed he's Batman's intern and he has to do a Scooby Doo style run sequence to escape before something bad happens. Basically he broke down Riddler's self confidence enough that he just couldn't prepare any traps or challenges he felt confident in, so Batman just waltzed right in and arrested him. Huggbees gets pizza and a utility belt for his contribution. Andrew winds up upside down with his butt showing in the batcave. Alfred has to get him down. Story end is Alfred poking him with a very long broome handle)
I'm pretty sure Batman is Donald Mustard (the creator of Fortnite's) favorite superhero. I think he also wrote that comic too, which explains why Batman and Catwoman were characterized so well, because it was written by a Batman megafan.
I think there's a real missed opportunity here with batman actually entering the game and having so many moments to show off batman adapting his skillset to approach the new medium. Instead of using a gaming set-up like the other players like keyboard, controllers, etc, he instead has an entire vr room with a free motion treadmill, height sensors and track suit to translate every small movement he does in the real world into the game world, fully committed to not treating this like a game and more like his standard missions. It could also be fun seeing him adapt to a leveling system, only to have him end up exploiting it in some way, not only leveling up the class he started with, but quick switching to other classes before the finishing blow on a boss to level them up and have as many skills at his disposal as physically possible. But for as fun as it could be to see batman thriving despite the circumstances, I do think there would be some challenges for him, the most important being that not every object in the game is interactable, what he sees in the room doesn't always line up with what he can use to his advantage, a chandelier may not be programmed to swing, a hammer hanging on the wall may be there just for decoration, and most importantly, weaknesses don't exist if they are not intentionally programmed in, hitting something in the eye won't cause blindness unless the riddler specifically allows it to happen.

Bless you for reading this comic good sir. The Batman/ Fortnite crossover was WAY better than it had any business being, so I saw this and thought “Eh…who knows. Could be good. I wonder who Faze Clan is.” I only managed to get 1/3 of the way into that disaster before rolling my eyes and giving up.
@@TheTrueXaver in the crossover comic, Batman, Harley Quinn and Catwoman all get sucked into a portal which brings them to the fortnite world with no memory. There, they are forced to fight other people with no knowledge of why they're fighting or who their own identities are. In the same comic, they even have another crossover with G.I. Joe, where Snake Eyes and Batman end up being such great fighters, they always end up as the top 2 after every match. The main plot is Batman trying to understand how to escape the cycle, since every match is a loop that resets the battleground when the match ends.
.... Well. I get that the concept was a platform to merge characters and explore their personalities without any "historical baggage" (for lack of a better term) and I can understand why that alone, if done well, can be an ok read, but still... It's Fortnight.
It would be amusing if the villains represented parodies of games common to phase clan. Two face could be racing around in rocket league, mr Freeze could be building in fortnite, scarecrow could have his own version of league, the joker could be running a fall guys game show. Then the riddler breaks out counter strike and it’s the first time a realistic looking gun is seen which would be a good visual indicator that shit is going down and the stakes are higher. So many creative avenues could be made with Gotham villains being in a virtual world but instead the story reads like the result of something written over a coffee break where nobody was served any caffeine.

My guess is that the pandering was a condition of the tie in. The rewrite doesn't fit because: A. Having the clan insult riddler until his ego kicks inwould highlight the team's toxicity, which is probably something a PR agent wouldn't want B. Having the clan lose to Riddler and having Batman save them isn't pandering. C. I don't think either party is big on gun use.
Honestly, even without the 'insults' seeing his game being cleared so easily, perhaps the Faze Clan commenting on how 'easy' the game was, would perhaps be enough to annoy the Riddler into making that mistake. After all, the game is perfect, unwinnable perhaps, he made it that way, so having someone breeze through it, while making simple comments on the ease about it, shoudl be enough to hit the right buttons to make him take such a dumb risk, just to prove he is superior.

The Faze Clan guys are just doing good natured ribbing (as one does while gaming), and Riddler eventually starts insulting them back as his ego starts to be hurt. Then they can say something about how he's being toxic. I've also no idea what FaZe is like in real life, but this would set up the dichotomy between FaZe just a bit of shittalking (FaZe) and actual toxicity (Riddler). If anything, it'd make FaZe look *better*, because it'd portray them as a bit goofy but with a clear concept of what's too far.

In Cod Warzone you can use a heartbeat sensor to see approximately where people are around you, it's probably trying to be a reference to that, especially with Joker being called a camper

See, if they wanted to make a GOOD comic, Robin's line about needing the "world's greatest gamers" would have led to them flying in Kamen Rider Ex-Aid from Japan.
The solution for the killswitch issue you propose is simple: get Batman in the game. If Riddler designed it fully he would never trigger the switch and kill Bruce until he could prove the game he made was too hard for the Batman to complete. That way Bruce and...God why I'm doing this...Bruce and Faze Clan would get an opening to try and complete the game. Of course Riddler would just kill them if they get close to finishing but here we get to the other part of the plan. While they're doing that other members of the family would be capitalizing on the distraction to take him down irl. They get him before he could activate the switch and the day is saved. It would also be hilarious to have boomer Batman trying to understand game logic and dealing with the members of Faze.

Something similar happened if you collect all the riddler trophies in batman Arkham asylum, Batman traces his location and you get to hear Riddler get his ass handed to him and screech as he gets arrested over batman's comms
The fact Batman has actually been into virtual reality, made by the riddler, and beaten him without fancy programming protecting and only a headphone to keep him in the real world makes this stupid and really didn’t need faze clan, it was just to make robin happy
The fact that there is an episode of Batman the Animated series with this exact set up (Riddler makes a VR, but it's trapped and Batman has to go in and stop him) should show that this concept could've worked really well

With how you fix the failed comics/propose good changes to the plotline, you should legit write one yourself. At this point you saw so much failed comics and stories, you would be an extremely valuable asset for actual writing, not to mention remaining true to the characters. Idk if you already work with someone that's in that industry, but you totally should. Or even better, write ur own comic. I would love to read it!
The thing is, you actually put some amount of thought into your version of the story. The actual comic was almost certainly the first thing that came to mind for each writer, just so they could have a story shit out in under an hour so they could push out this ascended advertisement as fast as possible.

The part where the logic really breaks down for me is where, in a world where Fazeclan canonically has a huge HQ thanks to their video game success, reminding us of the huge value of that market, the Riddler has invented by far the most amazing next gen gaming technology anybody could hope to conceive of and decided to use it for a hokey cartoon mind control plot instead of just becoming the richest man alive.

My friends and I have been waiting with baited breath for "Riddle me this, gamers" for a long time. To see it in something like this made all of us collectively loose our entire minds.
Riddler “depicting” other villains feels like a good idea for another story tbh. I’d love to know how he’d write the other batman rogues

“Nygma balls” comes at a close second
Two things about this story. One, the Nygma Box is dangerously close to "The Box" from Batman Forever. Except instead of stealing people's brainwaves to make him smarter, it mind controls them to commit crimes. Which brings me to my next point, mind control is more a Jervis Tetch thing than a Riddler thing. And yes, Huggbees' version was a far better story than what we actually got.

I like your version WAY better. It’d be cool if they actually referenced high skill techniques. Let Faze Clan take a moment to understand the physics of the game world so they can abuse it. Imagine them figuring out they can build momentum on a hill before bunny-hopping from objective to objective.
I like the idea of them using exploits as another way to bruise Riddler's ego, infuriating him by highlighting the flaws in _his_ game, while also potentially helping them not die when Riddler goes god-mode-admin-abuser.

I like how his version actually works _better_ as a promotion of the Faze Clan, makes them look smarter and braver, all while being truer and more respectful to the original Batman setting and characters. In the version we actually got, Batman and Faze Clan both look like idiots who only won because the Riddler is also an idiot.
One of the tokens is hidden behind a door locked with an impossible-sounding riddle. The riddler gloats about how the dumb gamers know nothing.
Then, one responds "I *know* the physics in your game is actual trash" & picks up a trashcan lid off the street. He presses it against the door & runs into it. After a few seconds of colliding with the wall at odd angles, he clips through, grabs the token, & opens the door from the other side.
Don't they only play call of duty or Valorant? I doubt they'd even know what bunny hopping is
There’s actually a bit of clever writing in your script for a proper comic. Usually, rage and anger leads to poor play and performance across pretty much all games. The Riddler, letting his emotions getting the best of him, helps bolster a message of keeping your cool in tense situations.
I love how in the joker fruit pie story, there isn’t any crazy reason he doesn’t like the “magical fruit pies”, he just doesn’t like them that much so he must be crazy

I have to admit, your story is undeniably better than the one DC came out with, if it isn't for the fact that all the effort of somehow getting Faze Clan into the story requires the completion of the game without tempering the game by any means necessary, something Faze is also infamous of doing so.
(Context: several members of Faze have been multiple times caught cheating in multiple video games)

The thing that strikes me as incredibly odd about this, is just *how bad* this obvious cashgrab of a comic actually is. Considering how the Batman/Fortnight crossover one (while no mean a masterpiece) managed to not only be serviceable on a basic level, but actually made sense given the setting. I’m still trying to figure out HOW and WHY this exists, but at the very least, I’m glad it provided you with something to work off of. I really enjoy your work, especially so when you talk about comic book stuff.
Maybe one day DC will let you write a Batman comic, and if they do, I hope to God it’s a Riddler one.
Huggbees vs The Riddler.
(He interns for him, constantly picks apart what he's doing, belittles Edward's motives, then its revealed he's Batman's intern and he has to do a Scooby Doo style run sequence to escape before something bad happens. Basically he broke down Riddler's self confidence enough that he just couldn't prepare any traps or challenges he felt confident in, so Batman just waltzed right in and arrested him. Huggbees gets pizza and a utility belt for his contribution. Andrew winds up upside down with his butt showing in the batcave. Alfred has to get him down. Story end is Alfred poking him with a very long broome handle)
I'm pretty sure Batman is Donald Mustard (the creator of Fortnite's) favorite superhero. I think he also wrote that comic too, which explains why Batman and Catwoman were characterized so well, because it was written by a Batman megafan.
I think there's a real missed opportunity here with batman actually entering the game and having so many moments to show off batman adapting his skillset to approach the new medium. Instead of using a gaming set-up like the other players like keyboard, controllers, etc, he instead has an entire vr room with a free motion treadmill, height sensors and track suit to translate every small movement he does in the real world into the game world, fully committed to not treating this like a game and more like his standard missions.
It could also be fun seeing him adapt to a leveling system, only to have him end up exploiting it in some way, not only leveling up the class he started with, but quick switching to other classes before the finishing blow on a boss to level them up and have as many skills at his disposal as physically possible.
But for as fun as it could be to see batman thriving despite the circumstances, I do think there would be some challenges for him, the most important being that not every object in the game is interactable, what he sees in the room doesn't always line up with what he can use to his advantage, a chandelier may not be programmed to swing, a hammer hanging on the wall may be there just for decoration, and most importantly, weaknesses don't exist if they are not intentionally programmed in, hitting something in the eye won't cause blindness unless the riddler specifically allows it to happen.

There, they are forced to fight other people with no knowledge of why they're fighting or who their own identities are. In the same comic, they even have another crossover with G.I. Joe, where Snake Eyes and Batman end up being such great fighters, they always end up as the top 2 after every match. The main plot is Batman trying to understand how to escape the cycle, since every match is a loop that resets the battleground when the match ends.

It would be amusing if the villains represented parodies of games common to phase clan. Two face could be racing around in rocket league, mr Freeze could be building in fortnite, scarecrow could have his own version of league, the joker could be running a fall guys game show. Then the riddler breaks out counter strike and it’s the first time a realistic looking gun is seen which would be a good visual indicator that shit is going down and the stakes are higher.
So many creative avenues could be made with Gotham villains being in a virtual world but instead the story reads like the result of something written over a coffee break where nobody was served any caffeine.
I had no idea who Faze clan was until I read this comment and that would be so much better. Seriously, how do paid writers come up with stories this bad?

My guess is that the pandering was a condition of the tie in.
The rewrite doesn't fit because:
A. Having the clan insult riddler until his ego kicks inwould highlight the team's toxicity, which is probably something a PR agent wouldn't want
B. Having the clan lose to Riddler and having Batman save them isn't pandering.
C. I don't think either party is big on gun use.
Honestly, even without the 'insults' seeing his game being cleared so easily, perhaps the Faze Clan commenting on how 'easy' the game was, would perhaps be enough to annoy the Riddler into making that mistake. After all, the game is perfect, unwinnable perhaps, he made it that way, so having someone breeze through it, while making simple comments on the ease about it, shoudl be enough to hit the right buttons to make him take such a dumb risk, just to prove he is superior.

The Faze Clan guys are just doing good natured ribbing (as one does while gaming), and Riddler eventually starts insulting them back as his ego starts to be hurt. Then they can say something about how he's being toxic.
I've also no idea what FaZe is like in real life, but this would set up the dichotomy between FaZe just a bit of shittalking (FaZe) and actual toxicity (Riddler). If anything, it'd make FaZe look *better*, because it'd portray them as a bit goofy but with a clear concept of what's too far.

In Cod Warzone you can use a heartbeat sensor to see approximately where people are around you, it's probably trying to be a reference to that, especially with Joker being called a camper

The solution for the killswitch issue you propose is simple: get Batman in the game.
If Riddler designed it fully he would never trigger the switch and kill Bruce until he could prove the game he made was too hard for the Batman to complete.
That way Bruce and...God why I'm doing this...Bruce and Faze Clan would get an opening to try and complete the game.
Of course Riddler would just kill them if they get close to finishing but here we get to the other part of the plan. While they're doing that other members of the family would be capitalizing on the distraction to take him down irl. They get him before he could activate the switch and the day is saved. It would also be hilarious to have boomer Batman trying to understand game logic and dealing with the members of Faze.

Something similar happened if you collect all the riddler trophies in batman Arkham asylum, Batman traces his location and you get to hear Riddler get his ass handed to him and screech as he gets arrested over batman's comms
The fact Batman has actually been into virtual reality, made by the riddler, and beaten him without fancy programming protecting and only a headphone to keep him in the real world makes this stupid and really didn’t need faze clan, it was just to make robin happy

a better plot would be:
the riddler makes a headset, it has mind control and he gets taunted enough in game that he calls all his minions to his HQ to show off and then batman just follows them and then a big fight scene or whatever.
The story he literally came up within 10 minutes was much better than a comic that probably took a lot of money to make.
