Saw them live about 15 years ago. I remember having my mind blown by them having an intermission where both guitar players, the bassist, and the keyboardist(w/key-tar) all stood in a circle. One hand playing the neck of their instrument while simultaneously playing the bottom half of the instrument next to them.... ALL IN A CIRCLE... 3 MINUTE SOLO.
It was absolutely nuts.

I put on “no fail mode” just to see what I could get on the whole song past the intro……85% on expert, easily greatest achievement I’ve made

Me too. I progressed onto playing Rocksmith, both rhythm and bass guitar. I managed to play this song on bass and I got over 85%.
Herman is a crazy good guitarist. Funny guy, too. You should check out his Twitch streams some time. He had The Doo on a couple of months ago, and they dually improvised some amazing music.

Herman Li is a beast. I love the shocked look on people’s faces when they hear this for the first time. I’m a child of the 80s so this kind of tune is my style.
This song is so popular partially because it was on Guitar Hero III. The hardest song in the whole game. I've never gotten to even a minute in on "easy." They have crazy guitar skills.

This isn't even the full version 😂 In the uncut version the guitar solo is longer and in general the song has more to offer. Still a great music video tho.
Mel sang a single note for two seconds, and my heart melted. And you can tell immediately the love between them is palpable.

Valuable lesson about power metal: You need to hydrate and carb up before pressing play. Don't plan to do anything else except rock out until they're done.
Just listening to the song is a cardio workout.
Firstly to all the guitar hero survivors of this band our pain will never go away and secondly this is the greatest shampoo commercial ever I'm so glad to have seen them live when you listen to the full version it will become clear how much was cut to bring the video into short enough for TV
I have to admit, I only know this song because of Guitar Hero III. But boy oh boy, when I heard it, it was just absolutely crazy. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. It's just amazing to think someone can actually play like that.

I love van Halen and eruption but the live version he hits wrong notes and it's like listening to a whole new song. Would prefer the CD version

This song holds a good spot in my heart and memories. Guitar hero 3 back in middle school. Such fun simpler times.
Herman Li is insanely talented. Trying to play guitar like him is a quick way to rip your own fingers off.

Not moderate, but his reactions give me happiness, because I know him a little bit and it is clearly how good he is and how much fun he has when he is playing. The fun he has when he is playing, makes me happy. And his personality makes me happy too. His kitchen abilities makes me hungry.
Dragonforce is definitely one of the most talented bands with incredibly talented musicians.
The female equivalent would be Lovebites out of Japan. They actually toured with Dragonforce in 2019.
If you want to be impressed, check out Swan Song with [Chopin Intro]. You might have to go to their site to find it; but, its 100% impressive.

Dueling guitars are always a great listen, quiet a few have done it now. The Eagles (Hotel California), A7X (Lost) & Iron Maiden (The Trooper) are just a few of the top of my head.

Herman li said in an interview that the final take they ended up using of the final solo his string snapped and they kept it because it made a weird noise and they could never recreate the sound cause he would have to try and play so hard his string snapped, though herman said he has always tried every time to really stress the string at the end
Like the final few seconds you can here it when it goes like “weeeeee-ping”
Now you need to see them do it live, it's even better !

Okay, now you should react to the Tina S cover of this song. Herman just reviewed it and dropped the F Bomb. "Oh F*** she killed that solo!" That's a quote. He said this is the best cover of their song he's seen. At the age of 15 she is a guitar goddess! Gone for now as she is in college. Watching her is like going to an revival meeting, they both want to make you stand up and yell "JESUS!"

They do a lot of what’s called hammer on and hammer off where instead of strumming the string they tap it. Eddie Van Halen is credited with creating hammer on and off.
Herman and Sam are Gods on the strings.
This is the kind of reaction I expect when someone listens to the song for the first time and you don't even have to be a music expert to realize this is one crazy solo, it would be interesting to count how many notes they hit in this solo has, let alone the whole song, and this is not even the full solo because the original one is way longer and the full song is about 7:20 - 7:30 some like that... anyway just a crazy idea, be good guys and greetings from Guatemala-.

They should listen to Liquid Tension Experiment's Acid Rain live in L.A. 2008 performance. Petrucci's solo there is probably the best I've heard from a solo guitarist.

Some songs by them you should do next are Valley of the Damned live 2004 Japan imo one of their best performances . Or music video wise , operation ground and pound is hella epic too and heroes of our time . They also have a new singer if you want to check some of his stuff out like Three Hammers , The Game , . If you don't care about music vids, definitely check Storming the burning fields , EPM , Lost Souls in endless time , those are some with the og singer . The new singer Marc , recommend Fallen World , Give me the night , Cosmic power of the infinite shred machine, Tomorrow's kings , just so many good ones lol have all the album's and it's hard to pick
There is something very similar to DragonForce.....but with a twist. I think you both would like it. The group is called Lovebites. The song is "When Destinies Align." They are an all female Japanese power metal band. They sound like a mix between DragonForce and Iron Maiden. Their guitarist are every bit as good as the guys from DragonForce. The look like beautiful princesses....but then they kick your @$$ with great music. True girl power at it's best.

This was basically pinnacle Dragonforce, but kinda formulaic at this point. Their first and second albums were a bit more interesting, imo. Check out "Fury of the Storm" or "Black Fire".
