In 1974, we discovered a young band from Breaux Bridge, Louisiana. They were playing an outdoor show on the back of a flatbed trailer by the levee. It was a hot, summer day. The small crowd was hot, but the beer was cold. There were more mosquitoes in attendance than there were people, but that didn't hinder the spirit of these Cajun boys. They put on one helluva show. They were so good, the promoter even decided to pay them, which was unheard of back in those days. The next day, they were signed to the record company and they went from playing on a flatbed trailer to playing at the VFW halls of South Louisiana. Proof that success comes to those who sweat.
