    I don't know if anyone has commented on this but what you want to do is once you know the vinegar is in the internal parts of the Keurig, you wait. Maybe three hours or more. THEN you run it through and then replace with fresh water. Waiting longer will allow the vinegar to work better and penetrate. 😀

      I know she just did it a couple times and still had mold coming out then drank a cup of coffee lol she didn’t clean that thing thoroughly at all.

      How do you get the vinegar in the internal parts of the Keurig? I want to do this.

    • @kimbok5971
      @kimbok5971 Год назад +1

      and letting the vinegar sit inside for a while gives it time to break up mineral build up which can be found in bottled water as well as tap water. You can also buy citric acid powder and use it in a carafe of water, for cleaning, instead of vinegar and you won't have that awful smell. But you still need to run several carafes of fresh water thru the machine or your next cup of coffee will taste yucky and your milk/creamer will curdle.

      She lifted the top and poured water into that reservoir.
      Then you lift the part of the machine where you're going to put a pod in.
      At that point you stop because you don't put a pod in and you don't push it back down. If you don't push that part of the machine back down then water or vinegar or whatever you use is sitting inside the machine and that's where you want to let it stay for a while.
      But my suggestion is to continue to rinse with clean water for a long time or many times after

      Also replace the charcoal filter in the reservoir. I also pored water in the pod chamber and lots of residue comes out

    I use straight vinegar in ours because we have hard water. Also, I let it sit in the reservoir for 30 minutes, before rinsing. Don't use the "product" they sell. Straight Vinegar is better. Also, I clean ours every month. I have it marked on the calendar.

    Vinegar is not germicidal. From Healthline: "The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) hasn’t registered vinegar as a disinfectant." That said, it does kill some bacteria, but not the kind that accumulates in a coffee maker.

    • @kimbok5971
      @kimbok5971 Год назад

      Nobody here is claiming vinegar is a disinfectant. I don't see anyone here squawking about the mold/bacteria in drip coffee machines, it's always just the Keurigs everyone fusses about. Get over it, people. Maintain your machine (USE YOUR USER MANUAL< IT'S THERE FOR A REASON) and you will be fine.

    Bought a used machine at a yard sale. It had been sitting several months. Machine appeared clean and little used. Done the vinegar thing several times and still get floater. Just can't seem to get it clean, don't know exactly what those floaters are, mold, hair, bugs, just don't know and can not get it clean no matter how many times I clean. Two bottles of vinegar and multiple water loads. Guess it is time for a new one.

      Try using the Keurig descaling solution found at Walmart or Target. It's made by a company (URNEX) who specialize in food grade cleaning solutions for the industrial food service industry. People have said on various sites that doing several applications with descaling solution removes the mold and scum along with the calcium deposits.

    I was cleaning mine every couple of months then we didn’t use it at all for a week or so and mold came out. So we took it apart got all the mold out and now husband says we cannot keep. Can’t I just use the vinegar every so often so tubes don’t get mold in them again. He said because I did that and this still happened I can’t keep it.

    Oh boy, since I don’t know my fellow RUclips Keurig friends in person I’m just going to say it. It’s 2021 and I bought mine in 2016…..NEVER HAVE I EVER CLEANED IT! Oh my, thus the reason I’m looking up “How to clean a Keurig.” The things that are inside are a live and I do not mean just bacteria and mold! I am pretty sure as I started taking mine a part I have ran into a parasite. So now I’m going old school, back to the regular coffee pots. After what I just seen within the tubing and throughout the whole process of disassembling this thing, no thanks. Even vinegar wouldn’t sanitize that mess! 🤢

    Coffee is a natural deodorizer when heated so she wouldn't taste the vinegar after cleaning the machine unless she'd used tea, then that might be a different story.

  • @FLASH_92

    Lol what does she think she got all the mold out lol there was still black mold coming out in specs you definitely didn’t clean it out it still has mold in it and the little bit you left will continue to grow lol. You need to actually clean it like multiple times with vinegar until it’s clear especially if you haven’t cleaned that thing in 3 years I bet you prob got headaches a lot.
