- Treasure hunting Huntington Beach California. Found 3 rings while metal detecting with the Minelab Equinox 800.
After a month long road trip, I am finally back and hit the beach. Was a great morning with some cool finds. Was lucky and surprised to find some change and not one but three rings.

I found $650 dollars worth of quarters with my Garrett metal detector in a years time, some years ago. I lived in an Apartment then, and I did my laundry free for over 2 years using the washing machines with the quarters i found coin shooting in parks, school yards and beaches.

That's crazy. I found one like that second ring 2 months ago. Lol it's junk too. They must be common junk rings lol. Then finally you found one that I didn't find. Maybe that ones not junk look for markings.

Thanks for the question. Not super rare. Silver coins and some older ones like the US buffalo nickel. But nothing worth tons.

Detect the wet part right where the surf hits look for cuts and your gold targets will be 1-13 swing slow

Im on Maine beaches and be grateful you dont have the bloody metal lobster traps and the alum clips on them to deal with. Its horrible! Ill take tent stakes any day. I can use the tent stakes to go camping.
I started saving the tent stakes. Going to make something with them. I watch the fisherman's life channel and he builds these small crab snares which are metal. People lose those all the time. Some of the beaches down here have a lot of aluminum too. Thanks

I’m fairly new to detecting (only this past 5 months) but have found several old coins from the 1800s and musket balls etc. My brother found a gold half sovereign from 1863 in mint condition. Most our finds are in fields. Looking forward to summer tho, to try our beaches more!

@@DigginSoCal it sure is! We’ve quite a lot of land to explore via different farmers we know etc. So we’re lucky that way. I’d love to detect over there with you in the sun tho, instead of having waterproof gear on and wellington boots lol

The first one Christine likes the most is from Royal Manufacturing and the new one is from Xtreme Scoops....

Depends on where you plan on detecting. The Minelab vanquish series is good or the Garrett AT max or Ace Apex. Both are around 4 to 5 hundred. Minelab Equinox 600 or 800 are a bit more but also good. I prefer the 800 or Apex in salt

Looks like this guy is hooked on Metal detecting, and that sounds good to me, BUT I do think that it is time to buy your wife her own Equinox, and sand scoop, just sayin.
So true...she actually likes it when I pull out the Vanquish. It is lighter for her to use. Looking at a better sand scoop for her as well. Carbon fiber

Yeah, not sure of the technical name but I always referred to them as sand crabs...I thought the fleas were smaller. Hum, still like how much Christine freaks out over stuff....lol
What mode do you run the Vanquish 540 on the beach?
I just leave it in jewelry mode with ring symbol showing....Let me know if you have a better setting for the beach?

bEST THING I EVER DID, buy a metal detector for 20.00 at a yard sale, walked away twice he wanted 50.00 as i was getting in my pick up he stopped me and took 20.00, because he did that today i am a millionaire, 62 just got married to a 31 year old woman and now she says we are going to have a baby, all because that gentle man accepted 20.00 for a 50.00dollar well worth i might add it was brand new never used. A friend bought a old run down hotel that was famous as a hide out for gangsters in the 1923 s 30 s. My buddie bought it as an investment they were slowly remodeling it, all the plumbing and electrical must be replaced, lead pipes, and extremely old rotten wiring al,capone and other notorious gangsters hung out there , mostly after a bank job or robberies, he has had it 4-5 years and is about half way done. The bank had trouble selling it because it is haunted in real life, and the ones haunting it show themselves all the time , big time shoot outs with the feds many gangsters died there in fact two were killed while they slept and blood hit and splattered on the wall where head board should be, it.s been painted 50 times kilts , nothing will stop the bleed through, the blood always shows, a team of scientist came and looked at it took samples and it has them stumped, they cut a section of the wall out to run test and every time they tried covering the small sample it would bleed through the next day. One of the scientist said that wall the blood on it hyas properties they have never seen before and should not exist, chemical compounds that nobody on this planet knows anything about , yet they are fairly certain it is blood, he also said that as a human not a doctor it is proof that their is an after life, the blood is not of this world. They gave my friend 100,000 to take that section of wall completely, just so happen that's how much it will take to finish the job. Now you know how i got so rich, by asking my friend if i could run my metal detector on his property and if i find anything he can either take a cut or 50.00 right here and now rather i find anything or not, he looks at his wife they both laugh and say give us that 50.00, my wife back then was just a friend since my wife past away she comes over and helps me clean and just hangs out a little and i give her a few bucks she never ask i just volunteered it, they day i went detecting i took her with me, now we were both novice detectors we start on the edge of the huge parking lot gravel 3 feet from the edge i get a hit a big one this is 5 min. in to the detecting, my girlfriend holds the device while i dig we got a shovel, 8 inches down i hit a steel plate i manage to get this thing out of the ground its heavy as all get up , it's made of heavy gage steel like a strong box safe its got a nut and bolt in place of a lock wsec take it over to my truck and pull my grinder out of the toolbox on the back cut the bolt off open it up and there was the prettiest 10 bars of solid gold i had ever seen in my life a pistol 38 wrapped in a cloth all rusted and a jar with over 500,000 dollars all 100 dollars bills dry as a bone no age damage sealed up, it to was wrapped in a cloth, some rings and necklaces and ear rings also all gold and diamonds , the jewelry alone brought me 3/4 of a million dollars. Later as i checked around the honey hole i found one more huge box it too was loaded down with a million and half worth of goodies. YOU CAN PRETTY MUCH FIGURE OUT THE REST OF THE STORY ME AND MY LITTLE OLD GIRL FRIEND got busy that night and i asked her to marry me she said would i , we did i have never been happier , whenever we go out folks assume she is my daughter or grand daughter i just smile and say nope that's my wife, told me she has always had a crush on me that's why she comes around all the time she don't like men her age, suites me fine let me tell she is a real knock out beauty, and loves me to death every night all night long if i want, i felt bad about my buddy taking that 50.00 bucks so i went out and took him to a ford dealership and told him to pick out any truck he wanted any truck , he pick a nice one and i gave 50.000 thousand for tag and gas and insurance, he cried so did his wife so i bought her a new truck also, after all if it were not for them i would still be poor and living in a dump, i had a custom home built perfect for a young couple raising a family, i don't know how many years i got left but i plan to enjoy them, we still got the metal detector in a glass case for everyone to admire, that pistol turned out to be an historic idem worth over 200.000 dollars, after taxes and fees i still brought home right at 3.2 million dollars, we never told anyone where we found it so they won't bother my friend, but one man offered me 1 million to give him the location, i said why would i do that i have not detected the rest of the property yet.
