As far as the animations go for monsters, I can understand the limits; there are, as of this post, over 7500 monsters in the game, and this refers to the current format and not the Rush Duel format which has created exclusive monsters for that game. Forbidden Memories, on the PSOne, had 621 monsters, while The Duelists of the Roses had 683. With the rising costs of production as well as the difficulties of developing 3D models, creating animations for nearly 8K monsters would be a serious undertaking, especially given how abstract a few can be. Duel Links at least expands the card artwork for monsters when summoned, providing additional details. It's at least something.
That said, I agree the choices they gave for some of them were weird, like Thunder Giant.
I agree that it's unrealistic to give the modern TCG a 3D animation for every Monster because as you said, there's literally thousands of them at the moment and they keep churning out new archetypes faster than I can type.
Looking back, my main issue with the animations besides the random monster choices is just how cheap the models were in addition to everything else. I rather have no animation at all than have something play that looks like it took 20 minutes on Blendr to create - that said, I do like what they've done in Master Duels. The animated 2D artwork is gorgeous and I think that should have been the norm since the start.
They haven't animated all boss monsters or every iconic card yet but I hope down the line they work backwards and make it so that it does. Now if they could just make gems cheaper so I don't have to mortgage my house to play create more decks that would be great!
I swear I was waiting for you to get to how poorly the booster packs were designed because I hated it. Why they made it an absolute downgrade from the handheld games is simply beyond me. No password system, no card list, slowly opening them one by one, no dupe protection to speak of, not even any rarity animations either so its not even a little stimulating opening these packs, just a bunch of boring blips as you slowly go through each card. I'm just on 5ds now, but I remember being so frustrated when I spent tens of thousands of dp on the grandpa pack just to get 2 Missus Radiant, and I didn't even get one. It just deterred me from building more than 2 competent enough decks to carry me through a lot of the campaign, and I'm sure that if I want a reasonable win rate on pvp, I'm not only gonna have to open a bunch of packs, but the vrains packs as well. Why they made opening packs this excruciating, when you'll be spending lots of time opening them is beyond me.
I feel your frustration man. I don't know why they spent so little effort on the booster pack system but I assume its to save time and resource so they don't need the programmers to do each set but the lack of mass opening on top of the card sets really made me mad
How do I unlock the packs 100% on the PS4 version without link summoning. I unlocked all campaigns and duelist but it wont let me buy the last doezen packs of each duelist. I beat the unlocked duelest with new deck but they only give few cards and then only game points. Do I have to beat all the unlocked duelists several times? Anybody know how to get unlock 100% of the packs? 0:25

No worries man! I think its cool that others love the game but it has quite a number of (arguably easily fixable) flaws that just stunts its ascension to a great game. I still have fun playing but the glares just scream out at you
@@TabletopTeam I would say it's pretty clear they were putting most of their focus on the Master Duel product. And this was just a GOTY-esque version of Legacy of The Duelist with a few minor upgrades. Personally, I am enjoying link evolution as someone brand new to YuGiOh it allows me to learn the game better before I go spending money trying to build decks in Master Duel.
Thanks for this, been on the fence about this game for ages. Think I will just go for YGO omega on PC it’s still in beta but no grinding and I can just play casually very easily with the cards I want to use.
I think Omega is pretty good and it's free too. I would prefer supporting the official release but in all honesty there are some many ways to improve the QOL that would only take a day or two to fix and yet years later no support. It's disheartening but hopefully the Rush duels are better!
The music gets so annoying I decided to move that slider all the way off and use youtube music streams instead. Should also mention that even when you know which pack has the cards you want, you'll be opening packs for a while, I wrote script to automate that process since it got so insanely tedious.
There is an option to play tutorial duels as normal duels, you hover over the lineup and at the bottom of the UI there will be a " [3] Play as normal Duel [Enter] OK [BKSP] Back"

Thanks man 🥰 I think its a great place to learn every mechanic in general too but its very bare compared to what came before it. Fun in small doses but horribly executed!

If anyone watches this within the next 2 days. You can grab this game for $10 right now. I grabbed it and I think it's fun. Except the activate this card spam between phases!
The only solution to the pack opening is to use Cheat Engine and a macro to spam open pack or else grind endlessly for a few boosters.
Plus this is probably going to be left to the wayside with the new Master Rule game coming out that was just announced
I think me and my buddies are going to pick this up so we can duel each other. We got bored of YGO
I say wait for Master Duels to arrive since it's way better executed and as you can see from the review it's only good up to a certain point. If you guys want a free to play option that's much better than this then try Yugioh Omega!

I play this ,over master duel anyday, at least legacy doesn't have all that negate everything board like master duel has
I’m playing the game and enjoying it, but man is it bland as hell. I would think for the story mode change the arena to fit the story. I thought I would be in Pegasus castle when i got to that part. But it’s always the grass field. The music is so bad. The GBA got it right with the music for WC 2004 for the GBA.

How does one do that?! 😯 If I exit the duel it forces me to restart the tutorials again for each of them
@@TabletopTeam On PS4 there is an option that say press O to play "normal duel". I know its kind of a pain in the ass.
