And in the studio we use
►Rode VideoMic GO II amzn.to/3Skp837
For podcasting I recommend using a dynamic microphone as it will reject a lot of room sound and background noise. The most important part is to make sure you are as close as you can comfortably be. Using a pop filter can help reduce sibilance and plosives as well.
We just got a new dedicated audio recorder that is a much better option than using the camera's audio input - TASCAM 4-Channel Portable Audio Recorder - amzn.to/3FWPZxy
►Rode PodMic Cardioid Dynamic Broadcast Microphone - amzn.to/3GmmlmG
►Samson Technologies Q2U amzn.to/3BzqP63
►Shure SM7B Vocal Dynamic Microphone amzn.to/3BAmFL4
Unless you have a really high quality preamp a level booster will give you a much cleaner sound

Great interview! So many wisdom nuggets. Thank you! 🙌
Youse 2 guys seem like the nicest people! 👍
Go Navy! A lot of sailors and marines become photographers.
I live in Chesapeake and have met Jason. But very trippy to watch a video from Australia with a guy in my area. Great interview! Still watching and enjoying every minute
Wow 😯 that’s so cool! Lucky you! Thank you for watching lovely glad to hear you are enjoying it.
Thank you so much for having me! That was so much fun ❤
It was an absolute pleasure having you on Jason! I enjoyed every minute and I’m so excited to share this with the community. Enjoy your weekend lovely. X
great talk!
Great interview. He’s practically a neighbor! (I’m in Washington DC)
Glad you enjoyed it! Oh no way maybe one day you will cross paths
Taking off for a video game! I love it
Loved the interview, Lucy! Jason is a good dude! I live in Virginia Beach and have driven by many of the locations he’s photographed. He’s also spot on - there’s so much commerce and “boring” in our area, unless you head to the ocean or a little further south. As a fellow RUclipsr/filmmaker/photographer, I’m in the middle of writing a short film about “finding style,” my own struggles with it, imposter syndrome, and the idea of whether it’s necessary as a photographer to feel like one needs to stand out in that way. I love that you touched on these ideas. Jason and I were planning on collaborating on the project for interview/photo walk content, and I’m excited to share when it’s done!
Awesome!
Hope you enjoy lovely!
Awesome conversation, I hope come to Australia one day and take amazing pictures 👏👏
Proud Jason Hunter print owner, just need to find a frame 😂 great podcast y’all! Subbed
Thanks, homie!
Such a great interview, and I almost missed it, because I usually don't watch YT videos longer than 20 minutes. BUT... I'm so glad I did. I knew it would be interesting because I have enjoyed following both of you. I had to chuckle whenever one of you would mention age. I'm 77, so you can understand why. I leave in Virginia Beach, VA only about a 40 minute drive from Chesapeake. Would love to connect to Jason sometime. Suggestion: since Jason doesn't like doing podcasts on his own, maybe you two could do more of these.
So refreshing to see such a low-pressure approach to both the photography side and equipment side.
gpnna have to pull this one back up on monday during my work day. jason is highly influential to my own insta. i'm sure lucy has a great convo with him, will update this once i fully hear it
Thanks Jordan! I hope it helps to get your through your Monday. I could have chatted for hours with Jason and yes I agree his work is really influential and so well curated. He is a positive one to look up to on IG! Can’t wait to hear your thoughts.
Appreciate the shout outs. Great talk. Jason is a real one. Always enjoy talking with him sporadically on the ole social media.
Also, I’m not that confident. I have to take a couple of laps to work up the courage!
Appreciate you, Bryan!
This was such a jewel of a watch ❤
Glad to hear it thank you 🙏🏻
Super refreshing video! I love the several points that you mentioned in this video! Definitely need a part 2! :) Thank you so much for this, Lucy!
Thank you so much! I’m really glad to hear it was refreshing. Thanks for watching 👏🏻
Thank you Lucy. great, learned so much.
That’s so awesome to hear! Thank you for listening. 🙏🏻
Nice way to start my Sunday 👍
Thank you.
Thank you for watching lovely! Hope you have a great rest of your Sunday. X
Great video .. hope to see more interviews. Thanks
Such a great video & interview! I so enjoyed learning more about Jason and got so many awesome little nuggets out of this one. Thank you both for sharing 😊
Thank you Molly! I’m glad to hear it and the response has been so great so I will do some more interviews on here I think. Maybe I should ask Kyle mcdougal next?!
@@LucyLumen glad you’ve had such a great response! I’ll be looking forward to more like this. Kyle McDougall would be an awesome interview 🤞🏻
Video @ 31:50 "50mm f/1.8 E - same glass as the more expensive one" - Not quite. The Series 'E' Nikon group of lens offerings, were produced to MUCH lower standards.
The flare paint, coatings and adhesives that were utilized haven't been aging well (permanent fog/haze/frosting and Schneideritis issues)...
37 years is Old?? I took my first photo at age 10 and I am still at it at 68, my efforts are still not good enough to display on social media (except to close friends), I use my two motorcycles as transport to photographic destinations and the pleasure is derived from the while experience, not the perfect shot.
They are probably way better then you give yourself credit for
Great video. Really enjoyed it
Thank you so much. Glad to hear it!
Always love this dudes work!
Me too hey!
@@LucyLumen Great video and conversation!
Honestly, I knew Jason was a cool guy, but this just absolutely confirms it. What a great interview Lucy! Such a killer episode. Thank you for opening up, Jason and being 100% you. Excited to hear your thoughts on FFXVI which Final Fantasy is your favorite Jason?
So far, FFXVI has been pretty great. I'm probably halfway through at the moment. My favorite is the new 7 Remake because when the original came out I didn't really get the gravity of the story. Also, I'm excited to play 6 again with the pixel remaster too.
@@jaserhunter I love that they’re remaking the originals whether it be pixel or full blown. There have been many that I’ve missed and I can’t wait to get through them all.
I need to play the VII remake, I never got around to it but I’ll be honest I always felt the hype around VII was a bit over blown. My personal favorite is IX and the follow ups are VIII & X but maybe I’m just a product of my generation and getting a PlayStation well after VII came out 😂
Thanks for the reply and I’m so glad you’re enjoying 16, I’ll have to pick it up! Maybe some day I’ll run into you on Destiny (I think you said you play), have a good one!
Great Episode, could easily sit in a bar with you guys and chat art/music/movies for a good few hours.
People have become much more aggressive on the road! Yo that Lucy! This is such a wonderful chat. It's good seeing you two sounding really quite happy. Thank you
Absolutely loved this casual chat between 2 of my favourite photographers.
Thank you so much! I’m so glad to hear it. We much do another one soon
Great video! Great guest! Just to let you know seems the link for Jason is not working.
It’s missing an “r” at the end. No worries, though. I have the same link in my IG bio if you’re interested 😊
Thanks Jason.
Awesome video, very refreshing interview
Thank you so much! I’m glad to hear that and thanks for listening to us!
This video deserves way more up-thumbs just for the laughs and good vibes
Dude 😂😂😂 “you ol bucktooth rascal” man… what a cool guy.
Thanks for this video guys. Love the behind the scenes vibe
Awesome conversation with Jason, keen to see more of these interviews!
Thanks my friend! Let me know if you have any suggestions for anyone you would like to see interviewed. I would love to chat with Kyle Mcdougal!
@@LucyLumen Kyle would be awesome! Nick Carver would be my pick for sure
What is the “zeen” thing they keep referring to?
Hey 👋🏻 a zine is derived from the word magazine and is just a self published DIY booklet that shows your work. Fanzines were a popular thing and a lot of the history is centred around music and underground cultural movements. Photography zines tend to be a bit higher quality but are a great way to share your work in print form. There are so many great videos on zines here on YT
@@LucyLumen thank you so much! Love your videos and this interview in particular, it was so nice to see photographers being real and honest about their work and process. You’re an amazing creator!
Loved it !
What does "keeping photography accessible" mean exactly?
Hey thanks for watching! To me keeping photography accessible means not gatekeeping it and not withholding any information about your gear, settings or process allowing others to learn from you or be inspired. I also mean it from a financial point of you as well in terms of promoting gear and mediums that aren’t totally out of reach to beginners or people who don’t have a high disposable income. I hope that explains it for you and hope you enjoy the chat!
Nice Intro talk. Without those trained gesture work. I really love listening but often it is a pain to watch. I guess you got some body language coaching for talking head approach. It is 30% too much. Nice channel though 👍🏻
feeling seen with having to tell the story before "the point" and "in a star pattern" 🥰🥰🫂🫂
