    Sony always brings the realism for me personally. Samsung is always the brightness and saturation champ, but Sony's processing just can't be topped. Plus I just prefer GoogleTV and Sony's uncluttered menus. LG and Samsung just got way too much stuff going on in their menus... it's too much!

      100% AGREE!!!! *And!* for people who want more saturation from Sony if you really want it, you can turn on Live Color. Samsung's saturation sometimes is a bit too much for my taste- don't like colors that look like pastel over vibrant I want natural colors just like I see in the real world,

      I've been saying this exact same thing for years. There is this false perception out in the marketplace that Samsung makes the best TVs - end of story. Nothing could possibly be further from the truth. The TizenOS is an absolute mess and Samsung couldn't product accurate, natural looking colors on one of their TVs if their lives depended on it. Sony is so much better across the board in so many different areas that there is literally no comparison. The only people that actually buy Samsung TVs are the ones that haven't yet seen a comparable Sony yet. Once they do, they buy the Sony TV - and they never go back to Samsung again.

      @@michaelbeckerman7532 the only reason Samsung has been seen as best is because they make the most models per year, Sony for flag ship has 1 model, Samsung makes several going from low end, to mid range to high, that’s it, they just SELL more models per year, nothing else

  • @whitecrowuk575
    @whitecrowuk575 Год назад +35

    Sony light control outside of local dimming zones shows it how it’s done - it’s closer to OLED than ever. Samsung often in those scenes where some dark details are present washes them out - whether it’s flagship 4k or 8k it’s all the same. Sony preserves it and gives appearance of more detail. Sony brightness is sufficient for light controlled environments where movies should be watched anyway though it would’ve been nicer if it went closer to 2k. As Oled guy this is mini LED I wouldn’t mind. Sony processing perhaps hints is what will come with A95L and if they will be able to pull off small specular highlights at 1.8k nits - boy we are going for a ride.

    I must say, personally I love Reality Creation engine on Sony. It's a absolute savior when it comes to detail for example watching a 1080p YT video. It makes a big difference in clarity. I remember when I had the S95B and watched YT video how it was softer and no real way to sharpen it up the same way as the RC on Sony can do. And you can dial in RC to perfection. You can have it really sharp where it's over processed or just a tad so the perfect clarity comes out.
    It almost feels like how DLSS 2 feel on Nvidia GPUs. How it can make things better even than native at times.

While these images are amazing, should show some poorly recorded content in 720p etc to show how they handle same and their upscaling ability. Show measurements gray scale / color gamut etc comparison. It will be great to see numbers - more objective than subjective observations. Pre post celebration results. @billtinnell2206 Hey there. At the time of my post, I was under the assumption that the x95l would be available in my country. As of today, we still don't have it, otherwise I would have gotten it next month. My current two LCD choices in 85" are the Sony x95k and the Hisense UX. I've seen both in person and both look great. I'm waiting for Rting review of the hisense UX as they are testing it right now. Then I'll be able to make my decision. Though the x95l has better blooming control than the x95k, since I've also seen the x95l in person in a different country, I dont think that to the average person the x95l is leaps and bounds better than the x95k even if it is better. So on that note, I'll know more very soon. Digital Trends is also doing a review on the Hisense UX any day now.

      Hey Belgarath, many thanks for your reply. The UX 85 looks like a great TV and the reviews are pretty good. I'm bothered by the quality and the clearness of the picture compared to the Sony X95L. Brian's Technology had a video comparing these 2 TVs and the X95L was the winner. Also I need the best TV for processing low bit content and motion since all I watch is regular cable programs and sports and the Sonys are the best with these. The new Clear Image Technology on the X95L also helps too. I'm about 99% sure that I will get the X95L in the coming months and will wait for it to keep going down in price. Currently on sale for in the U.S for 4,299. Saw the A95L last week and it absolutely blew me away like the Q9FN did 5 years ago. OMG! Too bad it doesn't come in 85". That would be the ultimate TV. I would get it today. And probably about 9- $10,000. Oh, and Brian said Hisense will probably put out a UXL next year that could be better than the UX. Anyway this X95L should keep me happy for 5 more years till the 98" TVs get better with image and come down in price. I love the 98" size but the picture quality and price is hard to grasp right now! Take care and be safe my friend.

However, i'm at 65 inches which means no sony X95L for me. Both are great tvs, you can't go wrong with either. Just curious what is the price difference between these 2 tvs? i believe that will also be an important deciding factor.

    Great review, helped me decide on my next TV
    I'm seeing hundreds of comments here raving about the Sony processor. I agree that in many aspects especially color recreation it is extremely good. But colors can be adjusted and/or calibrated. Maybe I'm just being a bit overcritical here, but what I see is the X95L processor is eliminating a whole bunch of detailed content from a HD picture e.g. @ 16:54 the sun reflections on the water above the shark have almost been completely washed out of the picture. To me, it appears to be tone mapping gone awry. The Sony seems to use much more "global" tone mapping than "local" and may be why many scenes lack detail. @ 17:50 the center of the sunflower shows almost no detail, for the most part just a brown blob, while the S95C shows almost every seed. @18:01 If you look at the sky in the opening between the 1st tree limb on the right and the 2nd limb on the right you will see the X95L has removed 70% of the details (leaves and branches) and replaced them with blue sky. @18:19 the mast on the sailboat is missing, and the furthest hill in that shot has virtually no detail when compared to the Sam. Lastly @20:54 to 21:01 look at the green reflections on the ice fall and the right side of the slope. The X95L reproduces this as green blobs throughout the entire shot, while the S95C shows it as white ice that transitions to green and back to white. I thought I was sold on the X95L, but from what I'm seeing (or in many cases NOT SEEING) thanks to this review, I'll think I'll wait until the S95C becomes available, that is unless an 83" LG G3 with full MLA shows up before the S95C. I think Brian is making the right decision to go with the Sam.

      Just a follow up on the comment I just posted.. I said S95C throughout my original comment, I meant to say QN95C sorry for any confusion. Personally I rather have the S95C than either the X95L or QN95C. Unfortunately the 85" S95C only comes with Samsungs stupid one connect box which uses a that cable can not be fished down through my current wall conduit.

    Another brilliant video Brian, thanks. I was wondering if you could help me? I'm interested in a 65 inch TV with the best upscaling capabilities, primarily of blu rays (I don't watch 4k at all). Could you possibly tell me (or test for, if you have time?) which model is best. I currently own a LG C8 but I'm interested now in either the G2 or G3 or even Samsung S95C or QN95C, Sony A95L, X95L or A80L. My deal breaker is the motion. I like the interpolation/smoothing and was wondering if you knew which one is smoother with less artifacts? I can't get out at the moment as I'm caring for my dad and although I've read countless reviews to be honest I don't trust them. Thank you so so much for your time anyway and take care. Allan

    The X95L looks to have more contrast. But that could partly be because the QN95C might be a tad brighter so camera picks them up that way. But still.
    Sony processing and attention to detail is well known.
    7:50 There is not even a contest here. Look at the contrast, color and detail. Look at the clouds to the left in the bright part it has sharp contrast detail on the Sony, no clipping at all. The 95C washes out a bit. Again it could be if it is a little bit brighter, but I don't think that would make such a huge difference. The balance of the image on the Sony is amazing.
    It really looks better with contrast. Which is interesting how it does that considering it has just over 900 zones and the Qn95C has just over 2300 zones.
