Ugly people are often unhappy and will drag you down with them.
Same thing goes for people overly focused on their looks.
They are 2 sides of the same insecure coin and frankly staying away from them is the best way to live a life with a problem or 2 fewer.

The pain in her voice when she admitted, “I’m an alcoholic.” Even while completely intoxicated, you could tell it hurt her to identify herself that way. Sincerely hope any person coping with an addiction is met with the same compassion and calmness, that the staff displayed. Substance users are more than their addictions, they are human beings coping with a debilitating illness. Passing judgement only perpetuates the stigma and prevents people from seeking help.

@@POTC Hello stranger! I’m actually a social worker and know many lovely individuals who cope with addiction and substance use! Most of these people are sadly also experiencing homelessness and your judgement does not benefit you, or them. Their addiction doesn’t take away from their personhood, but your ignorance does. Alcoholism isn’t a choice unfortunately. It is actually classified as a mental illness in the DSM-5 as, “Alcohol Use Disorder”. We *ALL* face different adversities in life and the world is a much kinder place to be when those adversities are met with compassion.
**edit: I am so glad to hear you are sober and wish you the best! I am so sorry if the world had treated unkindly in the midst of your addiction. You didn’t deserve that.
