I’d rather buy $1390 worth of cigars and use a $5 lighter that works just as well to be honest.
I always say that pump shotguns, Harley Davidsons, and Zippos all have their own unique sound. I now have to add the Le Grand Cling Lighter to my list! --Old Guy
Great lighter but my $5 single flame lighter does a wonderful job .
But don't you want to be a stylish le gentleman and consoom? Wait, nooo! Don't buy one that looks similar for 20 bucks! That's, like, theft! This one has a cling for 1000 dolans.
Whats the point of this comments in a luxury product channel? obviously anything in this channel is going to be purchased aside "functionality" if you want something that works, anything in the dollar store, convenience store, or amazon will do the trick and that goes for any product in this channel. The entire point is buying for the material, history, looks etc,,It is the "wants" business after all. When you go to a luxury channel, you are past the point of looking for something that "does the job." For something that does the "Job" I would just go to Amazon or Alibaba not look at this channel.
It's the simpleton comments I see about watches.. why do I need a rolex when I have the time on my phone
Treated myself to one of these about a year ago! ST DuPont makes the best lighters in the world! Great video 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
My shiny zippo with a butane insert will work just as well. Spending money on a $1000 lighter just to say you did, under the guise of being into the “finer” things of life….more than likely the people that could afford this probably aren’t sitting around watching a RUclips video about it.
Beautiful lighter but i genuinely cannot get behind the price as $1300-$1400 for a lighter is quite something.
Definitely a luxury item!
Very well timed sir. I was just in my local cigar shop/tobacconist buying a lighter. I wish I'd been able to get one as nice as that. Yet the one I bought certainly works to enjoy this Davidoff cigar
Love mine. They should have included the "cling" in the original debut. These V2s are great.
PLEASE MAKE A CIGAR SELECTION VIDEO FOR STARTERS on regards to variety of types of cigars, flavor profiles, prices etc. love the cigar videos, my dad loves cigars and your videos make me fall in love with them. Saludos from Puerto Rico Kirby!
$3 bic lighter/month x12 months = $36.
$36 x 10 years = $360,
40 years? $1440.
So a 40 year lighter?
Yes.
You’ve convinced me to get one 💯
Sorry Kirby, I just want to put this timing for my own enjoyment 😁 0:07
got that in poor people prices? lol
If Kirby drops it , it may go down in price, hopefully he doesn't drop it like I drop my phone all the time. Kirbies scratch and dent sale.
love the cling you can hear it miles away lol,but tbh i would rather with that money buy good cigar boxes and stick with my xikar
My grandfather went to war with a Zippo, and that's what lights my herb. No Frog Fop lighters.
Ugh, i should've have seen this.
i just pulled the trigger. just ordered one now.
should arrive in less than a week.
I have a LeGrand, an older version ST Dupont and an extreme jet flame. Love the jet flame has been perfect, however have had never ending issues with the LeGrand which is disappointing especially given it's price
Kirby, I believe you forgot to add the link in the description to your cigar accessories video which I believe is this one: ruclips.net/video/Od7vIWarQrs/видео.html
Wow. What a beautiful piece
I understand that well made goods are expensive but these luxury manufacturers do tend to make these inaccessible for most people .
That's the whole point . Otherwise it wouldn't be a luxury
@@michaelamos4651 agreed just that sometimes when I start to watch these videos from this channel I somehow hope they will cover products that are good value for money with solid construction and materials . But they often are too expensive .. for e.g vass shows are a good value for money buy vs Tom ford … I would like to see some lighters that are in the same league. Similarly Eco eye wear are a good value buy compared to Cartier glasses ..
That's the point mate...
Sadly that is exactly the objective to keep the product unavailable for most, thus maintaining exclusivity.
For me the perfect lighter is the Patek Phillipe Ellipse lighter. Preferably with the watch and cuff links.
THAT is an amazing lighter… going to do something with one soon… sadly, difficult and extremely expensive to put your hands on.
Great lighter Im sure and I understand the value but crazy a lighter is $1300+
It’s not crazy. To develop & manufacture a good product isn’t cheap. Over the years, we just got used to the poorly made and disposable lighters, so when we see one like this ST Dupont, it feels… different, and somehow strange.
@@diavalus like a $500 olive wagyu steak from the Kagawa Prefecture vs a $50 steak? Don't get me wrong I enjoy quality, but after a certain point it's the snob factor. They want ONLY a certain demographic to have these. Anything less tarnishes the name. Material quality and uniqueness can only carry the value so far, after that it's bragging rights.
Reminds me part of The Golden Gun
I think for a serious cigar smoker that wants to invest in a high end lighter it’s worth the price if they have the cash 💵 , but I wish these lighters were much more durable. Their are many that complain on how easy they scratch even when wiping them down with a soft cloth, but they sure are beautiful lighters ❤ for sure and that cling is music to my ears 😂.
I dropped mine the first week I had it… dented a corner, but I guess this is how “patina” develops… haha.
The shiny and polished ones take scratches easily, like the popular Ligne 2 Montparnasse with vertical lines. I also have a small silver coated Ligne 1 with micro diamond pattern and an older Ligne 2 Windsor, also in silver. They lose their shine over time as well but due to their small pattern they are less prone to scratches. From time to time they get a treatment with a silver cleaning cloth and then they shine again. Not as when they were brand new but still beautiful.
All these micro scratches or even smaller dents just make it yours.
Any chance of you getting the tour of Edward sahkaian most secret place we’re he keeps is most rare cigars
I spent few thousand pounds on DuPont lighters for cigarettes coz I just love the sound
1,000 bones hay!! Great choice when world economic collapse is coming. Don't worry we'll be rubbing two sticks together for heat.
You don't need to buy it if you can afford it. Some of us can and are Interested in finer things.
My fluo lighter makes a sound when it shakes. Can you hear your roller guerrilla? Is this normal?
Don't do the 3/4 shot which shows you talking but not talking to the camera. It comes across as rude to the demographic of your audience.
This one really is fantastic, and is my daily driver!
Recently bought the le grand crepuscule and I am still in the honeymoon phase ❤❤
Sorry Kirby, that’s ludicrous
A very lucid comment. 👍🏻
You're not the intended consumer.
@@E3_Kruger certainly, it’s not intended for rational people.
@@LucidTheTruth It's intended for people that money isn't an issue for or they are enthusiasts. If you're rich or just an enthusiast you buy the best, price is irrelevant.
It's not for me but I've got hobbies where price kinda goes out the window
😂😂
Just because you can't afford it?
Ludicrous to you perhaps..
Unfortunately S. T. Dupont is Chinese-owned.
Can't wait for the Cuba highlights....
Nice lighter.
A little bummed as my S.T. Dupont, Leaves limited edition (223 out of 250) is already not working. Bringing it back to my Davidoff location in NY. Hopefully it can be fixed.
One of those fun things that money can buy😊
I love your channel Kirby, but let me smoke $1395 worth of cigars first before I start considering this lighter.
It not wort... _cling!_
Throws wallet.
Beautiful lighter indeed 😊👍
Ive always wanted one. Its on my list. Thanks for the review.
I took delivery of my black lacquer model a couple of days ago and I'm very pleased! Absolutely beautiful piece. I have a weakness for luxury items and can appreciate the build quality that goes into these- the finish is exceptional. I frequently smoke both at home and out and about so being able to only have to carry one lighter with soft and jet flame was a massive draw as I'm quite minimalist in terms of my daily carry.
The lacquered models don't seem to cling as loudly which is a shame but also not a bad thing being more subtle in certain situations.
Is the price restrictive? Of course- but with most things it's a case of rapidly diminishing returns for the highest quality items. For a lifetime lighter of the highest quality and prestigious name and history I was happy to pay the price 👍
@@richardcompton I've heard it's basically pot luck with the lacquered models whether it has a cling at all! Got lucky with mine in that it has a bit, probably half the loudness of a Ligne 2 roughly 🤷
Hi Kirby, I know is a little out of context but when we see a visit at Perdomo Cigars ... they are most definetrly ...quality, craftsmanship, and tradition
I bought last year the Dupont Cohiba 55 cutter. Last week I bought a new Dupont lighter The Cohiba 55 version. I own 4 dupont lighters all from older years. The only thing that annoyies me on the new light is on the top of the lid you have a hob nail pattern with Dupont engraved....you can't even see the name dupont on it cos of the hob nail design.
My wife just got this for me off your website.
Brilliant how they're still innovating the world of lighters
$1395! Um, no thanks.
How much was your phone? TV?
@@YTviewer118 so I’m guessing you must own a $1,200 toothbrush since you use it everyday. Right? 😂 be real man. It’s a lighter. It has no business being so expensive.
@@nxp22 Negative, my Braun was $26. "It’s a lighter. It has no business being so expensive." this can literally apply to any item in today's world, i.e wine, whiskey, phones, cars. Who would pay such exorbitant costs for these things? Well, again, it's all down to personal preference. I for one own many ST Dupont's because I appreciate the history of the company, the values, the build quality, the small intricate details that you simply do not find in lighters today, yes they serve a flame like another lighter but again you don't get everything I just mentioned in a BIC lighter.
The worst part is that the people who buy $1400 lighters are the insufferables that go out of their way to tell you they bought a $1400 lighter.
@@mozzie22 Except that's where you are totally incorrect, the mere 'ping' of a Dupont lighter speaks for itself, nobody needs to even mention the price.
I had one of those Dupont 'ligne 2'. Wonderful quality, but they aren't windproof - at. all. I have an old zippo that would light in a hurricane, can burn unleaded gas from your tank (if on a camping trip) and is generally indestructable (and no, I wouldn't light a fine cigar with it).
👍
Why does your cite say cling and on st DuPont cite it states cling. Are these different versions?
Sorry how much? 😮
Who the fuck pays that price for a lighter? 😬
1.400$ oO lmao
Top G uses this same lighter.
😂
Bottom G
He ain’t a G no more
@@YahirVergara He is still "The G"
oh my god not everything has to be about Andrew TAINT.
Kirby larping as a fancy man
fake it until you make it! haha
It 'clings' pretty much on a G natural.
Get a lighter from the servo for 2 bucks
Nice
The lighter of the 1%
Hard pass
The way I lose lighters I bet that one would prevent me from losing another. :)
Love this
Just ordered mine today from your store.
sharp lighter,, but I really like that jacket!
Will more of these be made? They seem to be sold out everywhere.
If you can afford it, Buy one!💯🔥
very nice will have to pick one up for myself
My torch is plastic and costs $10.
High end audio next?
Dang $1,300 wowza !
Is this a Bic brand?
What color butane bottle does this one take? Red?
They take Red
Finally!
2 year warranty is standard, to all people who don't know what a luxury item is ffs.
Nice Lighter
Early
I find the $30 ebay fakes are just as nice as the $1400 "real" ones.
I agree and who is going to know the difference
@@KK-zb3xc the only person who should care - you!
@@i.o.3563 true
Probably the worst lighter i have ever come across, and here is why:
1. The twin soft flames which are meant to run side-by-side blend into a single flame - and so useless.
2. The lighter leaks butane and consumes it like no other lighter out there.
3. The cling is non-existent on the Le Grand Blue Sunburst which is why they had to redesign and come up with a version 2, and in the meantime doing nothing about version 1.
4. For the pleasure of the above, S.T. Dupont charge you £1,300.
i can buy a lot of Zippos for that much $
so on google it says thats a £1.195 English quid just to light a cigar your mad
We are not the same
You can buy a knife for $8, you can buy a knife for $580, you can buy a knife for $1,200. You can buy a watch for $20, $600, and $600,000.00. You see where I am going here? A tool is a tool, it's functionality doesn't change much, when you mix different materials into the pot the price does go up, but when you remove Chinese production, add rare materials, and add art to the mix, the tool is no longer just a tool, it's a piece of art with the functionality of a tool.
@@mad0uche That’s all true, but certainly the markup at times is obnoxious. What justifies a $1000 Gucci t-shirt? The only reason people are willing to pay a $1000 for a shirt with a Gucci logo is to be in some sort of “clique”. Kirby’s channel presents itself as the antithesis of “fashion”, supporting instead, “quality, craftsmanship, and tradition”, but ironically, it falls into the same trap of advertising ridiculously overpriced items that are meant to serve as some sort of pass into the exclusive club of “menswear aficionados”, most of whom are pretentious, narcissistic, chronically self-conscious, and insecure men.
All that being said, S. T. DuPont lighters are beautiful and amazing.
@@countalma9800 Well to me, the difference between a 5 dollar 50 cent cotton made in Guatemala walmart shirt and a 1000 dollar cotton made in Guatemala gucci shirt is the price tag. The difference between a 2 dollar plastic bic lighter and a 1.5 grand gold, silver or platinum made in paris St Dupont that can be re sold used for hundreds of dollars, that can be repaired, that can outlive you, well the differences speak for themselves really don't they?
@@mad0uche you don't seem to understand what luxury is. Luxury items are probably not for you, who buys 5 dollars shirts or a BIC lighter. They are for the wealthy or for the enthusiasts who appreciate it. If the price sounds too outrageous for you then you are not the target buyer. I myself don't pay much for items I don't really care about but I do spend more on items that I appreciate, when I want something luxurious, beautiful or unique.
Hi please make speak do not mistrub table make and video push on the door on
Hi please make speak do not mistrub table make and video push on the door on
Yeah I agree
Cool beautiful luxurious lighter, I'd like to have an ST Dupont someday, but the downside is, it's a butane lighter and it does not have the ruggedness, reliability and durability of a Zippo.
1300 for a lighter
How much was your phone?
@@YTviewer118 how are you comparing a lighter to a phone? Please enlighten me.
@@YTviewer118 100
@@nxp22 Well it's all relative and individual isn't it? People don't need to buy an expensive phone but they do because they appreciate the quality of the phone itself. Likewise, people don't need to buy an expensive lighter when a BIC costs less than $5 but they do because they appreciate the story, the history, the build quality, the experience. It's the same for fine wine, one doesn't need to buy the most expensive, it's all through personal choice. Everything applies to my original statement when you step outside the box.
@@YTviewer118 The value is in prestige and luxury not in a lighter itself. No lighter should cost that much if it's not made out of gold and diamond. But when you think about it as a piece of art, collector's item, that u might resell or pass it to your granchildren then it makes sense.
