Can I ask a quick question, I have just purchased this lighter online from an authorised St DuPont seller, I have opened the box and I have noticed that in the instruction booklet on the second page there’s a spelling mistake on the last line. They have spelt re-screw wrong and it’s spelt it ‘re-scew’ with the letter ‘r’ missing. I know it’s a small detail but now I’m paranoid. Would you be able to check yours to see if it’s also spelt incorrectly for my piece of mind? Thanks
Hello! I am currently in the UK, but will be back home in a few days. In the meantime, I will keep your request in my private email inbox so that I won’t forget it. I can understand that you are „paranoid“ about it. Even I was, although I bought it straight from S.T. Dupont. I think that it should be fine, because it was an authorised dealer, but will check for you anyway. Apart from that, there are all sorts of quality checks you could do. If your lighter performs like mine, it should be real, too
@@madeincyprus Hi! I literally just came back from my UK trip. The first thing was to check my instruction booklet. There is a spelling mistake, as well. (missing „r“) Therefore I wish for you many enlightened moments with your amazing product. Best regards!
Good to know, because I was wandering as well, why they cheaped out on the packaging. It was somewhat of a letdown. The good old days are gone …😊 I wonder how your packaging looks like. I have got this „issue“ with other luxury products, that I will showcase in the next time, too.
@@PalParkTigersAfter I read your message I have put the lighter in the freezer to test it out for you. It stopped working. However, I can tell, that the lighter works perfectly fine outdoors, if you use it in the environment it was designed to work in.
I am by far not a wealthy person and every luxury/quality item I own, I had to work for. I have bought this lighter, because I will be using a lot and it is sth that can be passed down to the next generation, too. But the impeccable craftsmanship and the “cling sound” were the most important factors. Generally, I try to purchase items, from which I think that make me smile every time I am using them. So, I don’t buy things mindlessly.
I was looking into different lighters, such as the ones from Cartier. I am more intrigued by S.T. DuPont design language and the history that comes with it. A main feature is this „cling“ sound, which causes joy every single time I am using my lighter. Also, I wanted to get a lighter which grows old with me from the beginning. However, this doesn’t make the lighter better or worse then others. Or does it? ;)
Excellent video. Thanks
Your comment means a lot to me. Thank you very much!
Looking forward to the flint changing video. Also mine doesn’t ping as well as yours !
Thankyou this means a lot. This is why I purchased the metal instead of lacker finish.
You need to flick it good, dont be afraid.
Wonderful video, you’re a meister at describing it, watched fully
Thankyou very much that’s very Kind of you.

@@ChappingElegance excellent, thank you for confirming. I feel better now 👍🏼
I bought a vintage Dupont that is basically new with box and papers and it looks way more luxurious then this packaging

Since it’s butane will it work in the freezing cold?
The temperature last night was -12*C where I live.I was using the lighter outside. No issues whatsoever.
@@ChappingElegance I don’t understand because butane freezes under 30 degrees and does not produce ignition

@@ChappingEleganceyes they are lovely for sure, it's actually my dream to own one.
1200 for a plated lighter? No way. There are plenty of Cartier solid 18 K gold unused for 1500 on ebay and solid silver for 450..
this lighter is akin to jewelry, youre paying for a bit of craftsmanship and a hell of a name that goes back to the late 1800's
Nothing wrong with carriers but they are not as iconic as a Dupont. To each its own of course.
You are right!That‘s why I got a S.T. Dupont

Lighter review where lighter is not lighted. Thumbs down.
Thank you for your comment! It was meant to be an unboxing video only.Another video with the working lighter is available
