Hi all welcome back to another video Dereck Reacts back at it again! This time around we take a look at another first time reaction with a PATREON request with Talk Talk and their hit "It's My Life." Knowingly the No Doubt version, I'm shook on how great this one is! The original always tend to have a significant advantage over covers, but do they deliver? See it now!

His vocals are out of this world!!!
One of the important british band from the 80's, with the awesome voice of Mark Hollis (RIP), and incredible musicians and very original production, they really had their own sound.
Lot of great songs, the most famous are this one, and "Such a shame" from a quite perfect album, and also "Life's what you make it" which is my favorite.
Both songs are you mentioned are pure 5 star production, still sound fresh.
Absolutely ... top class songwriter and musician, and this was a very influential song of the early 80s to the industry. And Mark Hollis' amazingly haunting vocals. I loved "Such a Shame" too, which is arranged brilliantly, and the transitions are excellent
"Life's what you make it" is my absolute favourite of theirs. Amazing piano riff of all things, and that weeping guitar besides. First heard it on the show "Red Oaks" a few years ago. Better late than never I guess.
Yesterday’s Favorite 😊
Fabulous Talk Talk song. So much emotion in Mark Hollis's voice__as much as in Such A Shame, Life's What You Make It that I looooove !
This song and video are the epitome of '80s music and MTV. Those running animals are seared into my brain.
the album, which also includes "such a shame", is a gem from this era. 💎
Such A Shame video showing Mark's face is so beautiful, raw and sensitive
The Talk Talk basslines were consistently incredible !
This video is beautiful.
The No Doubt cover is a piece of ...
And everyone forgets about that other song : "Living In Another World" , which is just EPIC !
Living in Another world, I remember as I read your comment. And they had also a hit called Dum dum girl.
Living in Another world from Talk Talk is a favourite of mine. It seems so fitting nowadays as I sometimes feel that either the whole world has changed or I have come to see it so differently.
Brilliant song, but you *have*" to listen to "Life's What You Make It".
The most instantly recognisable intro, even before you even heard it!
Talk Talk - Living In Another World!
Talk Talk is a really great synth band. Mark Hollis RIP!
Were a great synth band. Their third album stopped all that, and the remaining two were like nothing you've ever heard. This band created post rock for God's sake!
Next LEVEL42 "Lesson in love" 👌🏽🙏
Still a favourite of me and my partners, nothing like a coast drive with this playing, beautiful song. RIP Mark Hollis💕
Great song from 1984. I really like the sound of his voice. No Doubt made a cover of this song in 2003.
No Doubt covered this. You know fine well which is the one that matters. RIP Mark. Always missed.
Omg
Listen to more
Talk talk
It’s a shame
Living in another world
They are beautiful
Great band , great songs ! I have purchased their CDs.
Sadly Mark Hollis passed away recently. It was reissued in the UK during the 80s and became a big hit. Check out Life is what you make it and also their earlier hit simply called Talk Talk.
WHAT A VOICE, RIP Mark Hollis. Please check out the track Today by Talk Talk, synth classic.
Unreal band and Mark Hollis' voice was so unique . I loved them in the 80ies and now , during these horrible times, their music is soothing. Also the later works which did not receive that much radio plays are worth listening. They sure show what incredible genius we lost with Mark 😢♥️
Talk Talk (the song) is a MUST! It will blow you away Derek!
There are many good bands which have often been underrrated... Talk Talk, OMD, Midnight Oil etc...
This is one of the songs that once you hear it and then listen to it again immediately, the volume has to go up to get the full effect of the chorus.
Talk Talk are many people's second-favourite band. And quite rightly.
Their albums were superb. The songwriting so genuine and passionate. The production so beautiful.
Well done for mentioning Tim Pope's visual ideas for directing a video that DIDN'T require a visual vocal performance.
This song was released twice: in 1984, the title track to one of the best albums ever, and was only a minor hit. Then a re-released version in 1990, along with a re-released 'Life's What You Make It' single for a 12-track compilation 'natural history - the very best of talk talk' earned 'It's My Life' a #13 position in the UK, one place higher than their previous best ('Today': #14 in 1982).
Wonderful music by all.
Gwen was a teen in Orange County listening (and loving) this song and Talk Talk - she covered it in the 90's.
It was 2003
So many memories come to my head in listening to it.
Oh you just opened an amazing world. Check out the Live in Montreux concert! Love your enthusiasm for music. Keep the vibe up!
This is a very underrated band, check out the songs Life’s what you make it and talk talk.
Life's What You Make It is one of the best songs from Talk Talk. You need to check it out.
Adoro questa canzone, una delle tante dei miei favolosi anni di spensieratezza!
TALK TALK are all kinds of awesome. Some great tunes in there. RIP Mark
I didn't mind Gwen Stefanie's voice on this one while covering it with No DOUBT.Their video was also of an interesting film concept. But the instrumentation will never beat this original recording Neither the artistic Talk Talk video.Classic!
Y "Life's what you make it"
One of my fave tunes ever!xx
in the 80's the talk talk had a worldwide success
I totally knew you would like this! Talk Talk is definitely one of my favorites from the 80’s. My husband always says when he hears this song, that it has one of the best bass line ever in a song. It’s so catchy, it’s very easy to get stuck in your head. “That’s a shame” is a other great one and the music video is adorable.
One of the best songs of the 80's
Tomorrow started is my favourite from talk talk!!, his voice is incredible!!
Indeed and the instrumentalisation in that too.. My favoruite too from them just ahead of Such a Shame.
Me too... great voice, great song. RIP RIP Mark 💜🖤🤎
Always reminded me a bit of the singer in the band "Hooters".
This band was the bomb. Soooo good! (Gwen Stefani's cover was good too.)
First off, hysterical these youngans exploring this info. Yes, Tim Pope produced it and he, like Hollis, were against lip syncing. As an American, I was 9 then, I did not hear this song on the radio back in 84. It wasn't until 1990 I was introduced to this song when EMI released their Greatest Hits, when I heard it on Dave Kendalls international radio hit show on Hot 97 NYC.
there is a "live in Montreux" that is just phenomenal
Yess, i own the DVD of the hole Montreux concert!
Only god knows from which archives this breathtaking event was secured!🥰
Talk Talk, Such A Shame, It's My Life and Life's What You Make It are their great hits.
This is one of The most underrated band ever.
Please listen to “Living in another world”. Also The live version at Montreux is superb.
Why did you wait so long before doing a Talk Talk song..?
I havent watched yet but if this doesnt get Derecks golden buzzer I'll question his sanity!
TALK TALK , un grand groupe , Marck ok!!...magnifique!!
This reminds me of good old times... These are definitely lost.
Sure !
this is one of my favorite songs forever its simple a masterpiece!!! thanks for the reaction!! :)
My Life was the '80's!....Take me home!
Talk Talk was a great band. If you like nasty bass lines then go over your first impression of Level 42 because the track your patron recommended was not one of their big hits, so try « Something About You », « Lessons in Love », « Running in the Family », « Take Care of Yourself », then go back to 1983 with « The Sun Goes Down », then 1981 with « Love Games »
Wow! I was 21, dancing in the dance club 1984. Totally one of my favorite songs.
What wonderful memories with this band that we can't forget. Thanks
Much more enthralling than the No Doubt version.
The "triumph" as you enter the chorus is incredible!
Talk Talk (self titled song lol)
Life's What You Make It
Such A Shame
Living In Another World
Great band.
This is one Talk Talk better tracks and surprisingly, very underrated. Everybody seems to remember No Doubt's version and think it's an original but get surprised when they realized that there's were a cover. Talk Talk other songs worth reacting to is Talk Talk, Today, Hate, Have you read the news paper, Living In Another World, Dum Dum girl. ...
Another great song from talk talk "life's what you make it"
Love the video with all the wildlife!
Please do ‘such a shame’ by talk talk. They were so underrated! And their live performances are great.
When this came out I felt that the song along with the video - it was some sort or environmental/nature awareness thing, I mean it could be interpreted this way. I love this song and another one by them "Life's What You Make It" which again has a strong environment/nature themed video.
Masterpiece 😍❤️😍❤️
Bravo pour ce choix 👏👏🇫🇷
I played the 12" vinyl remix to death in the 80's. Love this tune. ❤️
Unfortunately there will not be any new Talk Talk albums. Mark Hollis died a few years ago
R.I.P Mark Hollis 💔💔
If you love bass, do Rio by Duran Duran next. It will knock your socks off.
I love Talk Talk !!!!! My favorite song is "Living in another world"
I would recommend life's what you make it _ if you enjoyed this one 👍
R.i.P. Marc Hollis
This song live is so much better great live band
I own the DVD of the hole Montreux concert!
Only god knows from which archives this breathtaking event was secured!🥰
It's more than worth to react on every single song of this cult band 🙏👍
Oh! Well, thank God someone mentioned Montreux. Mark at his most intense…and those session musicians. 🥰 x
Talk Talk has made fantastic albums. All of them are great, and 100% of thier songs are good.. With time thier music bécane more subtile. Then, Mark Hollis continued his carreer solo. He made on his own, records that are true Master pièces.
Thanks. At least somebody recognises Talk Talk's remarkable late period about turn! ✌️
Amooooo essa música
0mg omg omg, I found tis band sooo late. I hope you'll do that one
unfortunately they made not many albums, but they had a really strong style change in the middle, so the first two albums and the last two ones are just like from two totally different bands. They moved from new wave to post rock. And my favorite album is the third one - 1986 The Colour of Spring, where the change had started but the big hits were still there. All songs on it are gold. But if I had to choose, I would choose «Living in Another World» and «Life’s What You Make It»
In my top 50 tracks of all time
Check out their first album.
Strikes me most people are sadly ignorant of their last two works of art!
Por fin Dereck !!!
Hey buddy, next react also to these others super hits from them "Talk talk" & "Such a Shame" .
This was their only US hit, but Talk Takl were a critics' favorite.
An underrated band. 5 or 6 albums and all good. Lyrics for Hollus were very important. Nothing wrong with Talk Talk. A good choice.
This is such a great song...now a big 80s classic. No Doubt made a good cover. What ever happened to No Doubt?
mark's voice will always move me
Gwen Stehani and no doubt covered this song
best ever #talktalk 💙💙💙
always loved this song BUT the video is pants, i believe the band had a dispute with the record company hence the strange video..... now the best version of this is the LIVE version from montreux
If you haven't already you should listen to "Life's what you make it."
I ❤ this video
It's My Life, Talk Talk and Today all have a drive to them. No Doubt did a good cover but it doesn't have the same energy, especially from the drum line.
❤❤❤❤❤❤talk talk
A reaction to Everybody got to learn sometimes
Please Dereck react to the motels suddenly last summer!!, one of the greatest 80’s pop
1985, Dallas Texas club.
Un tube incroyable 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🙏🙏🙏🙏
❤️❤️ ❤️TT
From Southend
Derek that song was cool, anybody ever tell you that you sound like billy crystal ?.
This wasn't their only hit. They were one of THE 80s bands. Ok, the version of No Doubt is a very good cover version, but absolutely nothing reaches the original..
Superior by far
So beautiful!
