- Username recently surpassed Joshua as the 4th best surfer in the world and completed the hardest map on KSF. Of course, Username's cheatance was trivial and he stands as a legitimate contender for the greatest surfer of all time due to two critical stats. But before that, we talked about Anubis, two super under-stated surf gamemodes, and the future of surf.

its also imo not that hard to get into, tier 1-2 surf is eaiser to get into than getting into competitive csgo tbh
Im 33 years old and Ive been playing cs since 2001, in my experience and I guess this happened to pretty much anyone whos not much of a gamer geek, most casual gamers dont know what counter strafe or air strafe is, I played the very first cs beta, 1.3, 1.5, 1.6, source, cs go and nowadays I still play cs2, the thing is first time I tried to surf its just so unintuitive everyone simply falls off the triangle xD and theres no surf tutorial within the game in order for people to be like: oh so this is how its done.
Instead most people like me try it a few times fail and then quit to keep playing the default tactical game. The only reason I got into surfing is because I found this youtube channel, and the fact that since a few months ago I decided to learn the default de_mirage window jumps/runs and started doing stuff like bhop sideways or backwards whenever Im playing for some reason it allows me to play premier mode more relaxed, it makes me realize why didnt I try this like 10 years ago, great movement is so cool, but also so important in competitive cs.
So to sum it up If you are not that much into the game or in love with movement you wont ever go that deep in the surf, bhop or kz world, because this is like playing face it lvl 10, you need to become a hardcore gamer in order to trully want to develop such skills and explore such worlds.
I wanted to expand on what username said later on in the video about what kind of maps new players should try - unit maps are absolutely the best way to learn the basic mechanics of surfing because they give you plenty of space to make mistakes and get comfortable with airstrafing. I'd only recommend new players start trying tech after they feel comfortable and consistent on some higher tier unit maps. After you've reached that level of capability, it is a very good idea to branch out into more technical maps because they will really tighten up your mechanics, which is usually required for maps above tier 5.
You're really pulling the weight of the community right now Repster, it's awesome to see a content creator as passionate about the game as you. It's clear you want the community to have a presence beyond just videos of records and (usually) quiet livestreams, putting a voice to some of the players that are rarely heard from. Keep up the fantastic work.
roblox surf is one of those games everyone has to try once, people shit on it but it really isnt a bad game in the slightest.
100%, would recommend if you're bored of KSF. Also impressed with other roblox stuff, phantom forces is a free banger.

Might be a cool idea to have iconic mappers for your next interview. Someone like Maz, Spy Complex, or Granis I'd especially love to hear from them about when/why/how they got into mapping and other related questions like that. Great video mate, had many great topics that were discussed.

So if you want a mapper who can articulate a lot about surf level design talk to granis, he's really friendly and pretty much the backbone of the mapping community.
I know he works streams and maps though so he tends to be kinda busy but I don't see why he wouldn't be able to schedule something.
Would require you to do sorta different research to usual.
Happy to pitch ideas or you could do a poll to find out what the community would like to know about.
Also might be good to get a top female surfer on like dawn, not sure how reachable she is though.

How do people test a map that is impossible to beat. Meaning the person who made it wasn't able to beat it.
so anubis was showcased by Batman, who makes simply amazing Tool Assisted Speedruns. Batman programed a bot from scratch, that uses auto-generated inputs instead of real inputs, and proved the map was possible. For other maps, TAS's can be made with movement recorders (rulldar, cromalia, plar? have done this to test routes.) In most other cases, mappers send their maps to the top players for feedback and later Quality Assurance testing.

for csgo I would recommend surfheaven! They are the KSF of CSGO, most competitive and developed surftimer. If you're looking for more chill beginner surf I'd recommend GFL
