Stolen Palestinian Land? An Arab Israeli Responds

- Yoseph Haddad is a proud Arab Israeli. He briefly visited New Zealand in February 2023. Dr Sheree Trotter had a conversation with him about his identity and background and addressed some of the common questions people ask about the Israel Palestinian conflict. Yoseph tells the story of his grandfather. Who was it that gave him orders to leave? What did he decide to do?
As a Jew, I am so glad his grandfather stayed and that he is a citizen of the State of Israel. Thank for sharing a part of your story.
This is what the world needs to see, the Arab popultation in Israel that is 20% of the total inhabitants that live in peace with the Israeli.
@@aelixa That is what the whole world needs to see, the Palestinians who live in Israel and are thriving because they chose to live in peace with the Israeli.
So, the Arabs that left became Palestinians. Those who stayed became Israelis? What a ridiculous story. Not because I don't believe it, it is just that it is ridiculous. Way of the world.
In 2021 the Supreme Court in Israel upheld a law which states that Israel is the nation-state of the Jewish People and, among other things, degrades the Arabic language, which prior to that was a co-official language in the country alongside Hebrew, to an auxiliary language.
So, you are glad you can share your country with second-class citizens. But this guy seems happy about it, too, so it's ok.
@@boruttrost5750, in my country Malaysia alot of 2nd class citizen, included myself. 1st class must be islam and Malay. Our ancestor were here before Malaysia was born. What an unfair bias or an aparthied nation?
I am so glad that your grandfather decided to stay and you came to be. We are so blessed to have you as a part of the Israeli people. Thank you!
Yes, you are so glad to have Arabs in your country that you made them second-class citizens by declaring Israel a Jewish nation-state.
Not only did Arabs from surrounding nations pressure them to leave. They also prevented them from returning afterward, calling them traitors if they did

Mazel tov! Am I'm an Irish Catholic.
My family has several Israeli friends who were living and farming in present day Israel years before the 1947 war. They in turn had Arab neighbors and they were all friends. Their kids played together and went to school together (yes, Arabs and Israelis had school systems that served everyone in the village). The British did not like this and they sided with the Arab politicians and religious leaders. Accordingly, the British soldiers did their best to disarm the Israeli farmers and shop keepers. When Independence came about the so called Arab Leaders told all Arabs to leave the area with the promise that once the Arab armies wiped out the (unarmed or poorly armed) Jewish settlers the Arab farmers and herders could return to take over the Jewish farms. When the Arab armies were beaten there was no welcome home extended to the Arabs that left. The Israelis believed they could not be trusted. The Arabs that stayed were given citizenship and they were also given all the rights and privileges of the Israeli people. They all became Israelis. The so-called Palestinians are in reality the offspring of those who left “knowing” when the war was over and all the Israelis had been killed they could just come back and reap the spoils of war. The Arab leaders are still telling the people that once the Israelis are wiped out they can return to claim that which they did not build.
@@OkieSketcher1949 Cool story bro, you forgot the bit where they hung two British soldiers and booby trapped the bodies, sent a letter bomb to England and killed a 12yr old boy oh and the fact that Arab Israelis are second class citizens who have poorer outcomes in health, education, employment and life expectancy so not exactly equal.
His grandfather was one of 180,000 that stayed. Now they number over 2.2 million.
You just proved our point: there was never a genocide committed by Jewish people against the "Palestinians". The numbers proves it.
The mathematics of "genocide" . The only genocide in the middle East is the one that Arabs have repeatedly tried to commit against the Jewish people. Wars of self-defense are not genocide. Did the United States commit genocide against Japan after they bombed Pearl Harbor? No.
These numbers show just how horrible it was that 700 000 of palestinians were evicted in 1948. Also when he says that the order to evict came from the arab leaders he doesnt see that they were forced to do that- obviously they didnt do it because they wanted to but because they had to, otherwise there wouldnt be a war.
The fact that the world decided to create Israel on a land that already belonged to someone kinda sucks. The british promised arabs the land if they go against the ottoman empire, which they did but never received their reward, they promised part of it to France and they promised it to the jews and all of that before the land even belonged to them.
And even if we say okay, Israel just exists, which on itself is not something Im against, they still occupy land that was agreed to not belong to them by the rest of the world and mainly, they treat those in gaza and west bank absolutely horribly for decades. Theres an awesome documentary about their horrible treatment from 2007 called: "israeli women soldiers give shocking testimonies about israeli army"
Population explosion
Wow, that does not sound like much of a Genocide the left and Arabs would like us to believe in

@@alank-dw9xk if his descendants still live happily in Nazareth then it definitely was not the Jews who asked him to run away. It was his fellow Arabs who asked him to run away.

I as well feel that way about Yoseph.
There were also many Jews in early 1900s who BOUGHT land there from locals, received a right of land purchase title. Goodonya Yoseph for speaking truth. I met several Arabs in Israel who were grateful for the Jews arriving because they, brought order. The ones who immigrated from Australia helped drained the malaria infested swamps in the Jordan valley using trees from Australia, Eucalyptus. That turned that area into some of the most fertile land in the Middle East!
@alexrodgers9247 Jews have no right to the land as they stole it from Palestinians and Americans have no right to the land of USA as they stole it from Indians. First nakba for Indians was 1492 and first nakba for Palestinians was 1948. Nakba means catastrophe, disaster, or tragedy.
In 1948 jews owned only less than 5% of the land in question. The game was rigged by the Rothchilds and the elite banker jews in the city of london who arranged for the promise of Balfour that the british would give the jews other people's lands without asking for their consent. Turning the area into one of the most fertile lands is only the question of technology and finance. It is not a miracle. Anyone can do it with today's technology. Something is skunky though... why did the arab countries attack israel later in the war of independence if they wanted to evacuate the arabs on behalf of israel? They came to help the natives who had no military agaiinst the jews who already had tanks, modern weaponry even air force.

Simultaneously, the Arab nations drove their Jews out. Those Jews found a safe haven in the newly established state of Israel.
The Arabs didn’t commit the holocaust, and Jews , coexisted for centuries in Palestine among Christians and Muslims ! Do you realize that Muslims protected Jews in Jerusalem , When Omar made his way to Jerusalem in 638 the Jews asked him for permission for 200 Jewish families to live in the city. Because the Christian patriarch vehemently opposed this suggestion, Omar fixed their number at 70. Omar gave these Jewish families their own area in Jerusalem, located in what is now the Jewish Quarter of the Old City. Palestine was a vast region in the Mideast. When the Ottomans lost WWI to the allies, their lands were given to the victorious allies France and Britain for administration. One part of Palestine was handed over to the British and called the Palestine Mandate, another part of Palestine was handed over to the French and called the Lebanon Mandate. The French and British created countries out of their respective mandates when they left Palestine. Lebanon is the most Christian nation in the Mideast. Israel is the most Jewish nation in the Mideast. And Jordan was created for Muslim Arabs, seemed very fair to the U.N. at the time. Lebanon and Israel are both plagued by terrorist, Hezbollah and Hamas respectively. Lebanon and Israel have a 75-year history of dealing with Muslim Arabs in their countries that won't accept the status quo. Israel gets all the press because the world is genuinely anti-Semitic, more so than anti-Christian, although in the Muslim world both will suffer.

Everyone? Why? It will not convince the educated. It certainly did not convince someone like me, who has studied the subject from all sides and angles for decades. All it will do is condition the impressionable, the ignorant or the racist, who will buy this ridiculous narrative. The majority of us who are actually educated on the matter see the 1947 UN decision precisely for what it is, a European plan for colonizing part of the Middle East. Thankfully, the truth is finally coming out and support for Palestinians, the ONLY rightful natives of the land of Palestine, is increasing as an exponential rate. It is only a matter of time before Israel undergoes the same process as South Africa.
I see only one viable, sustainable and moral outcome to current problem. The "two state solution" is dead. There just isn't a way to divide such a small land into two countries. Not that it matters since Israel has allowed a million settlers into the West Bank to illegally occupy several pockets of the land, turning the West Bank into an unviable, Swiss-cheese terrain.
As such, Israel and Palestine will merge and form one country for Palestinians and European Jews. Yes, Yoseph Haddad is Palestinian, whether he likes it or not. For that to happen, Israel will have to make a lot of concessions, starting with a strong apology, and reparations, to the Palestinian people. Palestinians will have to be granted completely equal rights as Israelis. Israel must also return all the lands it has occupied to Syria and Lebanon. Under those conditions, Israel will be able to proceed with a comprehensive peace with all of its neighbors, most notably Syria, Lebanon, Iraq, Iran and Saudi Arabia. Freedom fighting organizations such as Hamas and Hezbollah must be completely dismantled, and their more extreme cells must be dealt with, forcefully if necessary, by their own governments.
Some will hear it and know its bullshit being spread by a person who has been bought and paid for.

This video was recorded 6 months ago, but looks like a response to today's events in the Middle East. Thank you, Yoseph
May this man be abundantly blessed and prospered for being courageous enough to truthfully share his family's experience.
The reason for the Israeli siege on Gaza is because Hamas keeps launching rockets and executing terror attacks on Israelis since 2006, and also earlier.
In 2005, Israel withdrew from all of the Gaza Strip. Since then, Gaza is not an occupied territory, and the Palestinians were free to do in Gaza whatever they want. The government of Israel expected that after the withdrawal from Gaza, a peaceful age would begin. If that were the case, then Israel would withdraw also from the West Bank, and a two-state solution would be implemented. Gaze was a test case for this new policy of Israel.
However, in 2006, the Hamas took control of Gaza, and started attacks on Israel without any provocation by Israel. As a response to this, Israel implied a siege on Gaze in 2006. Also preventing construction of an Air-port and sea-port in Gaze strip. All the goods going into Gaze are allowed only from Israel, from "Erez path" after a careful security inspection. The reason for all those limitations is to reduce the ability of Hamas to import weapons on a large scale, as well as construction materials for weapons.
The first paragraph of the Hamas treaty calls for the destruction of Israel, no matter what peace solution will be presented to them.
Israel has always asked for Peace, but the Palestinians as a whole, asked for war. In 1947, there were about 600,000 Jews living in Israel. The land they were leaving on was purchased legally from some Arabic landowners. No land was taken under power. The Jews needed land, as no other country wanted them after the holocaust that ended in 1945. Shortly afterward, on the 29th of November 1947, the UN proposed to divide the land of Israel into two states, while giving the Arabs a much larger area. The Arabs refused to that plan, and opened a multi-nation war against the 600,000 Jews who lived in Israel at that time. The Arab nations called the Arabs who lived here to leave the land, and return after the Jews will be wiped out. However, against all odds, the Jews defeated the Multi-Arab nation war in 1948.
In 2001 there were peace talks, Israel, led by Ehud Barak, was willing to withdraw from Gaze and from the West Bank, but Yaser Arafat refused that peace plan. He wanted the whole of Israel, without a single Jew in it. The same happened again in 2008, when Mahmud-Abas, refused to similar offer from Israel.
One can say that the 2 million Arabs who live in Gaza Strip should not suffer from the policy of the Hamas. In 2006 Hamas was elected in a democratic election. During the 17 years Hamas has been ruling Gaza, there was not a single protest against the Hamas government, nor a request of the residents of Gaze to the world, to end Hamas's leadership on the Strip. The Israelis want a peaceful life, side by side with the Arabs. However, the more Israel surrendered to the Arabic demands, the more terror and attacks it got in response. This is why Israel has no choice but to be aggressive against anyone who tries to destroy it.
Israel has tried the peaceful alternative over and over, and was always disappointed by the Palestinians.
Every time I heard about Israel-Gaza conflict, it was all started by Hamas attacked Israel, then Israel had to fight back to eliminate the threat, then Hamas cry and use victim card. And the news I read was reported by South East Asian newspapers, not even US ones, so there wasn’t any favor bias for Israel.
@@Leon-ty6bw Actually Israel rejected most of the peace plans made by the UN.

When teh 1948 war ended, and Israerl was recognized by teh US and other countries, David ben Gurion asked the displaced Arabs to come home. Since the Oct 7th, with world opinion now strongly condemning Israel, it has apperantly been washed by the censors at Google. I cannot find it after several attempts.
Ben Gurion clearly stated an invitiation for the residents to return to their homes and take part in the building of Israel. He stated that they were needed and would not face any government sanctions for being Arabs. He was holding an open letter which he said contained his verbal invitation. I assume that letter was to the UN.
I do NOT believe that David Ben Gurion or any of the Jewish leaders at the time were angels. They were in a fight for the survival of the remianing Jews on earth after the Holocaust, and did things that needed to be done - including forced removal of 700,000 Arabs to the front lines of the Arab Legion forces. So do I, by the way, but I'm not going to pretend his argument was anything more than an anecdote, of a secondhand story told by a family member, no less. Just because we agree with someone doesn't mean that we need to be intellectually dishonest, especially since doing so helps undermine the very argument you support.
Also, I would be remiss, if in the interest of intellectual integrity, I did not also point out that anecdotal evidence is not a suitable basis for any argument. Thank you for speaking out about this Yoseph. The situation there now is terrible. It's shocking how so many of us in the west and in the Middle East don't know enough of the history and the context of what was said and done then and now. You're a good man Yoseph.
So good to hear this.
Raise your voice, this is a real message to tell...
Thank you so much for this post. A bright light for peace in a dark world full of darkness.❤
THIS is true history. Facts. Cannot judge without all the facts.
Thank you for speaking the truth and with your honest and calm mode giving a chance for healing and peace which cannot raise from false narratives and still and always is possible and holds every option. Humans like you are needed and are the Real Heroes ..!! Thank you for All🙏🏼🙏🏼🙇♂️
Just as I know. Bless this man and his family!
Thank you for posting it!
Thank you Mr Haddad. You said the right thing. My Jewish great grand father lived in Bosnia and was saved by Muslim and Christian Bosnians during WW II. Before Milosevic, Bosnia was a country where all religions lived peacefully, as also told by my grandaunt and my uncle who lived there.
The truth is ALWAYS best - thank you SO much for your story Yoseph...we need to hear these stories...they matter~!
Shalom my friend from Australia 🇦🇺🇮🇱🇺🇸👍❤️🔥
Intelligent yet sensitive. Great man❤
I am really impressed by your attitude towards the Israel!!! Alas! Many people should understand & come out like U!!!
It's very commendable on the part of Yoseph to so very clearly state the truth as it happened. Thank you 🙏
Thank you ou for Clarity....
This Israeli Arab speaks the truth. Not very many people hear this truth, hence misunderstand or hear misinformation from false sources. 🇮🇱🇮🇱🇮🇱
Not the truth as documents show. Even Benny Morris admitted that Arab leaders did not order them to leave.
Can we see the full interview? I would love to hear more from him
Thanks for shining the light of truth on this endless fighting over land. Someone has to break the cycle of untruth that leads to new generation dying😢
Thank you for this insight.
This is truth that MSM , Islamists,, and Liberals hate to get out. I am so appreciative of this man.
Thanks to you, man. The world needs to see this. May God blesses you more❤️🙏
Very good and useful interview.
Thankyou for telling the truth! Thankyou so much!
Your grandfather was very wise.
Fantastic talk by this man...telling the factual truth....cheers to him!
He gave an anecdotal argument from his recollection of his grandfather. There are NO PRIMARY SOURCES for the claim the Arab states instigated the flight of refugees.
I never heard much about these events. He used the term "evacuate" Were these orders given by leaders of Arab countries to remove Arab populations because they were going to attack?
Educated man. Respect
You can't steal something that has already been yours for 4,000 years.
Somebody also has to own whatever it is your stealing. People have invented a fake people (Palestinian) and invented a fake country (Palestine) in order to create this fallacious theft that never happened.
The issue is that land doesn't really belong to anybody. Land ownership is a social construct of nations, and therefore only valid by leave of the particular nation currently occupying that land. People in the very civilized nations of today have the luxury of naivety to that and other important factors. Ultimately, only those who can forcibly deny entry to others actually own that land. Thus arguments like this get pretty much nowhere in the global theater, because other, more old-fashioned nations have not forgotten this fact.
This is just one of the many arguments surrounding this issue that lack grounding in reality. Most of those arguments revolve around the "pro-Palestine" side, but clearly, not all.
Too bad for you that nobody has ever reached 4000 years of age
That’s what I learned, too. Thank you
Thank you very much for revealing this, your family's story Yoseph!
I must shamefully admit that I once supported the so called 'Palestinian cause' over the Israeli one (when I was young, naive and not very well-versed in history - to my 'defense'), although wasn't really 'passionate' about it (I guess I grew up in an environment where I just assumed that 'so many ppl can't be wrong..?).
However, I'm now much more well-read, informed and not so young anymore....and I must say that at least from what I've understood so far - it is not looking so great anymore for the so called 'Palestinian cause'!
I'm not saying now that there are "no innocent civilians" amongst the Palestinian people - of course there are. There always is. But it is still a fact that all the Palestinians are governed by non-democratic, fundamentalistic and violent Islamists! And I don't believe that there can ever be peace and peaceful coexistence in the region - as long as the Palestinian people either do not de- & renounce that kind of Islamist 'ideology', or refuse to let themselves be led by criminal, barbaric and corrupt Islamists!!
Also - I feel that Islamism (as well as all 'extremist ideologies') is surely becoming a serious threat to and in all 'Western' democracies....and we need to 'adress that' - as soon as possible! Which means that both so called 'political correctness' as well as the gloves must go. For all our sakes (irrespective of ethnicity, religious identity, etc..).
Well, that's MHO anyways.
Love from Sweden - and my support to the people of the democratic state of Israel (again, irrespective of religious inclination - if any ;-) )!
Thank you
Thanks a lot for sharing, Yosef.
Yosef, God bless you. I have so much respect and admiration for you in being one of Israel’s best advocates by presenting true facts and educating people and you do it with so much pasión. 🫶🏻💪❤️🇮🇱
Yoseph Haddad is a man I have so much respect for. He speaks the truth
Since the dawn of recorded time the world has known endless war . Since the dawn of time there has only been Two Rules of War . Rule 1 To the Victor go the spoils. Rule 2 The Vanquished must adapt or die out . Israel won both wars , 1948 and 1967, in the past Israel feared the 22 Arab nations surrounding them and tried half measures of Victory. Israel is now strong and must enforce Rule 1 to protect their citizens and their future generations.
I pray for peace because I don't know what to believe.
Even history is in question
This was so good I shared it on facebook with all my friends .
Tim
This is so important.
Yes this is the factual history. I wish more persons would speak and remind the world of these facts.
I wish more people would use the term Gazan in the international media.
Amen I say to you. Much love and respect for you and your family story from this American.
There are always two sides t a medal. Great interview.
Thanks for sharing
Thank you Yoseph!! You are the king 👑👑👑 We love you🫶🏻❤️
This should be shared in all networks.
Thank you for sharing your history. It’s fascinating that the media doesn’t share these events.
The media only covers what the human masses wants to see, which is hatred that turns into blood and gore. If we as individuals in large enough numbers refused to view media that only showed negative stories with no context other shock and awe, maybe the media would begin to be more positive, but first the humans masses need to change attitudes and become critical thinkers. We know that most people would rather cut off their nose to spite their face than admit they were in the wrong.
The most important words Yosef spoke is what few seem to understand. MOVE FORWARD. stop fighting over who was where first , or what someone's God said. Human habitation of lands precedes recorded history. Moving forward is the only way to settle such a dispute.
Ecaxtly, man! Exactly. I was there and saw how the people lived together. I was stunned. Never expected that. They sat together, laughed, chatted...It's never the people who want's war. Always the leaders talking them into this bullshit (on every side). But yes, move forward is the only solution. At the moment is no solution possible, I think. So sad. It could be the start of a great war with impact on the whole humanity (I hope that I exaggerate). Greetings from Germany!
The most important words are: REGRET. Yes, Palestinian Arab regret for stupid decisions made by leadership that hated Israel (and still hates Israel). Palestinian Arabs could have had a state of their own in 1947. But no. Their hatred of Israel superseded that chance. Palestinian Arabs have only themselves to blame for a vast array of stupid decisions that only worsened events for them and Palestinian Arab society in general. Search the soul of the average of Palestinian Arab and you discover there is no great leader among them who can earn the empathy of the world, like Nelson Mandela did for South Africans. Palestinian Arabs employ a bankrupt narrative of oppression that gets them nothing.
Instead of feeling morose, Singaporean looked to the future and moved forward. Indeed, they have moved forward, look at them now. With strategic location in the Mediterranean, Gaza could have been another Singapore or Hong Kong. Instead, they chose Nakba and forever sulked to degradation.
No, there is the truth, we have to clarify it and defend it, but that does not means we should use that to reject the other, we can live together in peace and coexistence in 1 Jewish State... Like do very well the 1,709,900 Israeli Arabs living in Israel !
Those who defend the so called "two States solution" perfectly know that :
1st - it is impossible and a guarantee of an endless war (those who defend the so called "two States solution" should tale a serious look to the map and then she or he will understand that it means cutting the Jewish State or the Arab State in two parts... It's completely unmanageable !
2nd - that means apartheid ! That means "We cannot live together, we have to divide : you leave there, we leave here, and we do not meet, we do not live together", this is a non-coexistence ! This is the perfect opposite to the fight against racism !
@@elodie2404 That's a very interesting point of view. Thanks for sharing 🙏
Cant be more simple than that!! One side did not accept - went to war - lost! and with it, any rights to land or whatever there!! Lucky them, that Israel did not do the same that the other side would ve done to them!! but not finishing the "job", caused the conflict to drag this long!! Most countries were not so nice as they were building themselves!!
What is the difference between a "Palestinian" and an Arab other than the geographical location of where Palestinians are located?
the name of the are was called palestine since the romans conquered it from judea. since then; it has never been an independent land/state - rather part of different dynasties; kingdoms; and empires. so anyone living in that area were palestinians bc of the geographical location - not because it was its own ruling country
@@aylal5240 Thanks, I knew that. What I was asking is if there are any cultural differences between Palestinians and other Arabs? And aside from religion, say whether a Palestinian is Christian or Moslem, I don't think there are any cultural differences between Palestinians and Arabs. They are....Arabs.
Thank you for telling your story 👏👏👏 , for preserving truth and dignity.
This is correct! The Nakba myth is just that! It is A COMPLICATED history, The Arabs and to some extent the British were responsible for what happened, not Israel!
God bless you for speaking the Truth.
I wonder how is it possible to steal land from people who NEVER had their own state in the whole history?
לך תלמד היסטוריה ותנך לפני שאתה מדבר על היסטוריה כי הארץ הזאת ניתנה על ידי האל ליהודים
What kind of asinine question is that… it may have not been an official sovereign state or nation, but those people still lived there for generations upon generations, and owned that land. Not being an official state doesn’t mean it wasn’t there’s. If it does then did the Jews who bought some land there not really own it. Would have forcing them off of it not have been stealing? Stop with the fragmented, circular logic and rationalizing. Israel has also never been an official state prior, and had never been a name for the region in its entirety. What made it okay to come in and take over all of Palestine. What made it ok to steal people’s homes and land. Nothing. Nothing justifies it.
If you are talking about Palestinians, you are correct. They didn't exist untill 1967. Palestinians were a concoction of Yasser Arafat.
@@barbdouglas3197 girl read a history book. It’s sad you stated that believing it.
Thank you for telling the Truth sir we need more honesty
Yoseph Haddad is an articulate and well spoken person and I have huge respect for him and I hope he continues to expose and explicate the views of Israelis to the world and what are they dealing with !
Wow, can you believe that? This was 6 months ago. No one forces him to say this. He wanted to tell us this and definitely NOT BECAUSE of the recent Hamas attack.
The world needs more people like Yosef. So there's hope after all for the United Hebrab Republic, cool! (If unfamiliar, see Americathon 1979).
Thank you Yoseph for this sweet & short education clip! Well explained. Only respect for this smart young man.
You can only control people when you control their emotions, a level headed person who understands the entire situation for what it is will never be incited by these bad actors.

As someone who is searching to have God in his heart, I appreciate you sharing this! God bless you and your home.
