I still have one. It's the LML Star Xpress. The acceleration dude, is just superb. And the low-end torque on this thing is just crazy. You can make the scooter climb on a hill road on the 4th gear only. No need to downshift. I wish Vespa brings back these geared scooters in India.
My family still owns Lml scooter from 1997. My father has kept it in excellent condition and it stills performs very well considering the power and torque. True gem of a machine and i still ride it.
This was my first own scooter (and last) after coming from Lml NV that my dad owned. Contrary to what is being said here, it was more expensive but safer (comparatively) than Bajaj. For the simple reason that weight was actually better counter balanced with the spare tyre (called "stepeney" colloquially) on one side and engine on other. In hard braking it used to maintain straight-line if you hold the handle well. Whereas Bajaj would go tail fishing. If i remember correctly these used to cost anywhere between 11k to 13k in those days. And yes average was also better than others. P.S it used to be the next best option for those kids who's parents won't allow bikes because they were unsafe 😂. Yes, the RX 100 and the KB 100s 🤦
