Notes is great but it stalls out and gets spazzy once you pile on 3-4K notes, less if you have many attachments.

I... haven't quite reached that point XD but have heard similar information. It's probably better for larger notes, not something like a zettelkasten.

Apple notes are great until you want to find your backup in Time Machine
in Time Machine.
