Gotta admit, despite the long wait, the english dub for this game pulled all the stops. The voice acting was on point, the script and dialogue was rich and impactful, and it even was full of unnecessary detail such as asking the japanese singer to record the whole tokusatsu opening in English as well.
Credit where credit is due.
There's something special about being part of your time in history in the universe. I think this game captures that
Finally got this ending after 6 hours of recruiting, trials, and getting the Cosmic Armor.
When people said that the Final Chapter was be the longest, they weren't kidding.

Just finished the remake and while the original is good, the new one‘s climax makes things soooo much more satisfying
I came back here to see how it played out differently. I love knowing how the Switch version added a new boss and an extra layer to Oersted.
Yea i did too i love the final boss theme of the new boss it's my favorite theme in the game so as much as i love the original game i do appreciate the new boss that they added and the music to it is easily my favorite theme in the game, here's hoping the developers add something new to the ttyd remake too like a boss rush or a post game.
Oh wow. Ending it off with a boss rush of easier bosses (compared to your level ups) is a novel concept. But I definitely prefer the additional fight in the remake.
They probably didn't think of an ultimate final boss at the time and instead just stuck with a boss rush just to show how each of the Seven have grown since entering the Dominion of Hate, never giving Oersted a chance of redemption or defeating his own Odio.

@@Jose_Doe I heard someone mention it. Dunno if it’s true but it makes sense. The demon king’s statue has a very particular design which would make sense if it was meant to appear as an enemy.

Wonder how they will pull it off in the remake? Hopefully they won’t censor the stage... or anything else in the game! *Fingers crossed*
@@ultimatek9940 It didn't get censored as far as I can tell, but it unfortunately doesn't disintegrate when you beat Purity.
It's like they expect you to chose Akira as the final protagonist because the statue of his chapter boss is in the middle.
Kinda, the positions switch when you choose another character as the final protagonist
I found that odd as well with how every statue is based on the in battle sprite but Akira and Cube's. The Inko Buddha Statue's uhhh statue, is based on the overworld sprite and OD-10 is fully new.

Weird considering that he is the weakest protagonist, Cube may lack strong attacks but least is good as a support. Akira could be better if they made his skills more effective, maybe the remaster will give him more utility.

This is quite possibly one of my favourite RPGs, period; I had to play the patched OG version since it was not released outside of Japan back in the day. Imma get the Switch remake and compare.
I prefer Cube's, Yuan's,Oboro,Sundown and Masaru's lessons for Oersted over Akira's, because they are a bit harsh.

No joke this is the exact team I used in the remake (except I had Oboromaru as the protagonist)
Bruh the 2nd phase is a joke , if you max out cubes def and stay on the corner (forcing odio to use cancel ray) you can take the fight with cube alone( yes you can do solo runs of this chapter) the 1st phase is hard though still a epic game and GOD DAMMIT IF THIS DOESENT GET REMADE SQUARE
If they do they need to make sure Akira gets a decent buff for the final chapter. He's so underpowered it's unfair, at least have him on par with everybody else.

@AleNoConstancy you didn't have the Ariel Armor items? Those make you immune to petrification.
I also had that problems, but only with Masaru. Pure Odio rekted me at least 5 times, then I moved Masaru close to him from the left side, used tsuda constantly on him and sundown finished him with hurricane shot.
Actually at an interview, they said that if enough people wanted it, they shall make it

I remember how cool this was when I played it as a kid, I still think it's awesome but jfc the remake takes this to a whole new level, it was beautiful

In the remake I wrecked the final boss by buffing accuracy on Sundown and hitting hurricane with Pogo's ult and Oboromaru chipping in
Well one this is not knowing what most things were and what they did and the lack of the move meter.
Take Akira's Devil's Due/Shadow Image for example, on the SNES, the text reads, "Negative PSI/Reduce Lifespan" Not a very helpful description. Most items actually tell you what they do now too. Some stats were renamed like, "Con" becoming Sp.Def and, "IQ" becoming Sp.Atk to help streamline what they actually are and what they do. A few moves and stats were also buffed like most of Akira's moves, or nerfed like Wildfire (didn't need charge time) to better balance characters.
Some audio issues, but well done!
And to think all of this happened, just because some third-grader and her mom moved to Tokyo...

The "Pure Odio" theme definitely gives me vibes from the first phase of the Smithy battle in "Super Mario RPG". (Yes, I know the same composer did both...just pointing it out.)
Beginning of "Pure Odio" sounds like beginning of "The Grand finale" from Mario and Luigi: Bowser's inside story. Both games has same composer too.

I beat(?) the remake just now. I heard there was one final boss after the boss rush that was added in the remake. I didn't get that, and I came here to see whether or not I just got the original ending.

I got the best ending without doing all the trials... is there something _else_ you didn't do?
(For reference, I did not have the ultimate weapons for Pogo or Oboro; I did enter them by accident, but did not clear them. I did clear all the others.)
All I know is that you have to have had each one with you at some point...
And they just move the character specific speech to after the new phase they added
@@WhirlyBeepBoops Yeah, I believe that was the real issue. I only recruited five out of the sevem characters. I replayed the Final Chapter and did everything there was to do in it, so I've seen the new final boss. And Jesus Christ, it is a typical Square Enix "defeated and spared by the power of friendship" final boss.

They gave much more feeling to remake. In original Oersted sold cold, while in remake it feels he was controlled, and regret everything he did.
I interpreted the remakes final phase as Oersted literally absorbing so much hate, that it was enough to revive the original Odio.
