#BlackPanther I’m #wakandaforever
The song is set to “No woman no cry,” by bob marley and the wailers. It’s a pe4fect choice for a few reasons. One, the ruling body of wakanda is now all women. Shuri, Ramonda, Okoye, Ayo, and Nakia are all the main characters of the movie, and they’re all mourning t”challsa. The song is basically saying, don;t worry women, there’s no need to cry.
IN this case, after the passing of the king, wakanda is in a state of turmoil. The royal family doesn;t have the luxury of mourning, because there are outsiders who want to take advantage of t’challa’s passing to weaken wakanda.
Bob Marley, like Chadwick Boseman, also died young, at the age of 36-so that memory is entrenched in this trailer. The song is ultimately optimistic, saying that even though bad things have happened to us, the future looks bright.
So we start off with Nakia, looking out into the sea. Personally, I love these characters, and I hope she’s the one who becomes black panther at the end [roulette wheel] place your bets.
Nakia is looking out to the sea..foreshadowing the arrival of namor. But also, notice that there is what appears to be a mayab temple in the background, playing this scene on the shores of Mexico. The actor =who plays Namor, tee-noche Huerta is Mexican, and we see the Atlanteans wearing what looks like modified Mayan headdresses.
Now we’re going to talk more about Namor and the Atlanteans in just a bit, but first I gotta say this is a pretty on point redesign. The first bl;ack panther movie has strong themes about colonialism and exploitation of Africa by the west. [colonizer! When killmonger says where did that artifact come from]
And the mayan culture was erased by a right bastard named Cortez. So wakanda and atlantis are both these indigenous cultures who survived being purged by european colonizers. I have a theory about how that theme will factor into the movie’s story that I’ll go over in just a bit.
Next we see queen Ramonda and Okoye walking to tino shuri’s lab. After the passing of T’Challa, I think their primary concern is going to be the recreation of the heart shaped herb. Remember, the panther goddess bast led the first wakandans to the herb [clip]. And the wakandans cultivated them for thousands of years, till killmonger came along [clip].
Snow, maybe shuri, is trying to synthesize the herb, or finding traces of it around the world, so they can crown a new black panther.
A little explanation on that. The black panther is the avatar of the panther goddess bast on earth.

Kind of, yeah. And traditionally the king is usuAlly the blck panther-but not always. In the civil war, king t'chaka had already passed the mantle of blck panther to his son, T'challa, before he died.
Now the obvious choice for the queue is shuri. Long story short, she was queen of wakanda for a while in the comics. In tchal;las absence, her action led to war with Atlantis, which I’ll go over in just a little bit.
Next we see Ramonda on the throne, probably as a steward more than a queen. Remember, wakandans choose their successors through trial by combat [does anyone want top challenge]
As for how t'challa dies in the film…my guess is that it will just be from cancer. Hat would be much more tasteful than having him die in battle offscreen or something like that. It would also obviously hit hard for all of us, knowing how bravely Chadwick Boseman foguth the disease, in secret, for years.
Then we see these people in white, doing a ceremonial dance. This is likely the funeral of t'challa, set more as a celebration of his life. But shuri is in mourning-tough to watch, since the character was always so lighthearted [can we go home yet]
Now this symbol on top, that kind of looks like the sigil of the republic, features 8 spikes united at the center. I’m going to go out on a limb and say that this symbol represents Wakandan unity. Bringing together the five tribes, the will of bast, the golden city, and necropolis, eliminated by the great mound of vibranium.

actually I believe it took time during the blip when black panther erased by thanos. And wakanda was in weak state so namor could actually attack it

I personally admire the casting team of the Marvel that they cast a perfect man for the role of Namor.

Even without knowing who is specifically going to take up the Black Panther mantle, I did like how the trailer put emphasis on the rest of the characters of Wakanda as a whole so it feels like we'll have an ensemble character story with the city at the heart of it. I honestly don't mind this as I like a lot of the characters in the original first movie and wouldn't mind if they had an equal/shared role to play in the story if the writing holds up.
The leak that guessed everything perfectly in this trailer already stated it’s Shuri.

The final Easter egg referring to the lyrics "when I wake up" are vocals taken from Kendrick Lamar's "alright" off his album "to pimp a butterfly", which is a song about resilience in the black community. The song also compliments the Bob Marley reference regarding the repeating lyrics "Everything's gonna be alright". Kendrick and his label were also instrumental in the highly acclaimed black panther soundtrack for the first movie. Hope this adds to the weight of your findings !
Anyone who is a decent enough fan of Kendrick would know this but it seems like everyone skipped over his song being in here. Glad someone else is pointing this out, felt like it was all in my head or something 😅

What IF: T'Challa actually saved Killmonger? I could totally see him doing that, 1) as a form to right the wrongs of his father, 2) Killmonger wasn’t inherently evil, but a person that lost his way mostly because of what happened to his dad and T'Challa knew that, 3) the more obvious, Michael is a amazing actor and would fill that role perfectly, maybe he could come back now as Black Panther to honor T'Challa and have his redemption arc or stay as a anti-hero, and tbh, it’s hard to see what other actor could fill that role in such a perfect way like Chadwick did..
The Black panther suit in the trailer also has golden highlights like the one killmonger had in the first movie. And he was also wielding a weapon in his left hand. We all know Erik uses weapons

I was saying the same thing I hope it’s him plus you can have shuri create the heart shape herb and visit her father and killmonger strike a deal with them to bring back killmonger plus you can have tchaka explain his decision to killmonger where killmonger comes to an understanding erases all the hate throughout the years turns good to honor Chadwick as the black Panther or idk if this is true or not but killmonger has a son maybe in the same scene how I explained killmonger settled with T’chaka then tells shuri he isn’t worthy to comeback and tells her he has a son that should take up the mantle since he has no evil doing and he can recover the bad name on his side of the family that his grandfather & killmonger created 👀🤔👏🏼 just a theory/thought

My thoughts exactly! Technically if Kilmonger was saved by T’Challa …they could’ve become like brothers. Hopefully Nakia Is pregnant with the T’Challa’s child. Kilmonger holds the throne until his cousin grows up. PERFECT!
There seems to have been an editing error that you didn’t catch. It’s where queen ramonda is shown looking out to sea. You have it twice. Also, it’s pronounced Namor not Namur.
Something worth mentioning, 'those people doing ceremonial dances' you mentioned in white garmets are being led by one of the biggest female musician and vocalist from Africa 'Yemi Alade'. And the no woman no cry vocals themselves by the current biggest star from Nigeria 'Tems'.
The song from Tems is also a featuring with Kendrick Lamar I think

I love that their funeral clothing is pure white, because culturally they associate the colour black with heroism and royalty, and white with the pale skin of the invaders they have turned back at their borders. It's also the colour of death and mourning in some Asian cultures, so there's precedent.

@@Dakingalbert2 she looks jacked in the trailer, plus if she is imbued with the power of a panther god directly she may not even need to fight. We can’t assume she will have the same powers of avatar via the plant. Heck she might not even need vibration in her suit because avatars can adopt their gods armor directly

I agree with T'Challa dying due to cancer (canonically and thematically speaking) being the most tasteful as it also speaks to the theme that we are only human in the face of things such as cancer even if we are blessed by the gods like with Jane Foster in Thor.
These characters get up like it's nothing from bone-shattering attacks and survive cosmic beings, but cancer? it's the most insidious villain of all.
What if the Queen was referring to “the snap” when she said she lost her family? Do we know exactly where Wakanda Forever is picking up from? I know in End Game Okoye said there was an earthquake in the ocean was that not a foresight for Namor? Just some random thoughts. I love this breakdown though. This movie is going to be super emotional. I still have a hard time accepting the fact that Chadwick is gone.

My theory is T'Challa deciding to share Wakandan tech with the world has resulted in less responsible countries polluting the ocean further and Namor blames Wakanda.

I’m so happy they are emphasizing Wakanda as much as they are. Never forget Black Panther won Oscars for Production Design, Costume Design and Music, as well as a Screen Actors Guild for the Outstanding Performance of the Entire Cast. The World of Wakanda (and it’s many amazing characters) nabbed those trophies. I’m so excited to visit and spend time with them again (even if it’s a time of deep sorrow and mourning for their irreplaceable King).
It wasn’t deserving of them either. It was a poor origin story with trash cgi.

That was politics...I saw nothing in BP that actually blew my mind. They didn't really feature life in Wakanda, the set pieces and CGI were average, and the main the character was a co-star in his own film.
Nothing more than a pr stunt . Wasn't deserved at all .
A few things: We already saw Quetzacoatl in Thor Love and Thunder. Also, remember that Druig stopped the destruction of Tenochtitlan in The Eternals. Now this trailer is full of Mexica art, including a representation of Quetzacoatl. I think there may be a relation with Namor's origin story there
I feel like it's worth mentioning that this movie could be taking place during the time that Thanos had snapped everyone out of existence. It was a long period of time (like 5 years I think?) and would make sense as to how and why Wakanda, and the other governments of the world, are weakened by losing so many people. In this case, Wakanda literally lost their protector and King during the snap so it would make them particularly vulnerable. IF this is taking place during the Thanos Snap era, it also gives Disney and the Director time to decide whether or not they are going to recast T'Challa like people have been asking.
It's not Shuri blipped then too so it has to be after
When Bassett says "lost my entire family" that doesn't sound like Shuri was kidnapped. It seems like there's a part in the movie where Shuri is believed to be dead. Also in the comics Shuri does actually die and Namor has alot to do with it.
Or it could be a reference to the snap where both T'Challa and Shuri were dusted. The movie may start during the final events of Endgame. Unlikely, but it could b e why she thinks of her family as lost.
@@jeffaltier5582 If it's a reference to the snap then the movie has to start somewhere during Endgame (the beginning of Endgame). Then we'll probably get a huge time jump early in the movie. Because toward the final events of Endgame T'Challa comes back and is with Shuri.
I agree with you that they may kill off Shuri. There were rumors of issues with the actor and now they have introduced Ironheart, a little Tony Stark. They don't necessarily need her, but who would be the Black Panther? Things that make you go, hmm... 🤔
There's a rumor that Shuri recreates a sacred herb with some kind of advanced technology to visit the Ancestral realms and receive wisdom or help. She would appear dead to everyone then.
Instead of running into T'Challa, she meets Killmonger who inspires her to take up the mantle of Black Panther. She chooses the gold suit, the one her brother turned down in favor of the purple one.
And she upgrades the suit, as well, with some help/influence from Riri.
Rumor also has it that she takes up mantle of Black Panther, while M'Baku becomes the new Wankandan King after he and his people help fight against Namor.
At least, that's one of the rumors. I, too, noticed how odd it was for her to mention she lost her entire family when we knew she still has Shuri. Or, she could be referring to the snap. Lol.
@@animezing2133 Yeah there's a lot of rumors and speculation lol. Her referring to the snap makes since IF it's at the beginning of the movie. Half the world is gone, and America ask Wakanda for help seeing how they are the most advanced country in the world. Bassett's character is upset because she lost her family in the snap, makes sense. BUT there would have to be a time jump pretty early in the movie.
I think why Queen Ramonda says “my entire family is gone” because their dad died during civil war and in infinity war t’challa was snapped and then in endgame it was confirmed that shuri was snapped, so possibly that sequence could take place during sometime after endgame
Edit: so actually I think this might be a misdirect on the trailer we’re shuri can be saying it during the movie, if you look closely at ramonda she’s aging and getting older (love Angela Bassett tho😩)

I was thinking about how Queen Ramonda said her whole family is gone, and I wonder if that's in response to the idea Shuri was dusted during the snap as well as T'Challa? As her picture was in dark grey with the Avenge The Fallen poster we saw of all the characters.
I do hope Nakia becomes the new Black Panther, as Shuri's skill are needed elsewhere. But part of me thinks it'll be Killmonger being brought back.
But above everything else, the trailer made me cry. Queen's agony, T'Challa, Chadwick...it's going to be an emotional movie I'm sure.

@@uncle_ben_rices_nephew Well we don’t know how T’Challa will die in the movie (maybe it won’t even be said) but we can imagine that if it’s the same as real life (cancer) they can’t save him. If Wakanda had a way to cure cancer, I guess they would share it to the world and I won’t go into details but Thor 4 wouldn’t be the same movie. On the other hand Killmonger got stabbed, they can very well save him and he could have even survived by himself… (Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man did in No Way Home 🤷🏽♂️) I think you gotta look at it more like « he never died at the end of the first movie » rather than « he got resurrected ».

Angela Bassett said in a interview a while ago that Michael B Jordan was coming back.
A bit of a stretch, but regarding Wakanda's location being now having an ocean shoreline was probably caused by that earthquake mentioned in passing in Avengers Endgame.
A rift opened up because maybe this is Namor carving a path to Wakanda, and the shots of Nakia and Queen Ramonda staring out to the sea is the aftermath of that violent quake

The shot of water in wakanda doesn't have to be the ocean.. if you watch black panther there's is huge bodies of water already in wakanda. Maybe namor can travel there then control that water.

Too bad they were in a hurry to kill off the character. Superman, Batman, Spider-Man, Hulk etc. get to continue living on in film regardless of what happens with an actor... we had to get REALLY weird with this one for some reason though...
The suit has gold accents like king T’Chaka wore. There’s a shot of what looks like a baby Namor looking at some devastation most likely caused by a fight with Wakanda . I think this may be a flashback scene of T’Chaka and the last king of Atlantis and would explain Namors grudge.
As much as I love Killmonger, I really don't want them to bring him back, 1- because it lessens the impact of his character and his death and how he's the reason T'Challa changed for the better in the first movie imho. But also 2- because it further opens up the door for other characters to come back as flesh and blood which lessons the impact of Everyone's death and character. Ik Thor 4 did this too, and tbh I didn't like that either
I actually love the idea of Nakia being the next Black Panther
I have a feeling that this will be a classic divide and conquer story. Shuri probably got captured or ran away out of grief after losing her brother and she has to be the stabilising force between the Wakandians and the Atlanteans. The person who “wakes up” will either be her or Killmonger. Either way I’m excited for what’s about to happen.
Killmonger wakes up and is changed. Takes the throne, and is the new black panther going forward. He’s the only one with little to no emotional connection to tchala. I think shuri, okoge and even the queen probably beat the suit. But they don’t fair well as the pressure of knowing who truely holds the throne, is too much. Kill monger being brought back the same way tchala was is going to be epic.
@@chuckpg31 I think it would be epic if Killmonger is the new black panther too. But If you look at the psychique of the person wearing the black panther suit at the end, seems more likely to be Shuri. Compare it to when Killmonger wore the suit in the first movie.

it's Shuri man they're going by the comics from what i've read and in the comics Shuri is a badass panther she gets help from Storm because Storm married TChalla in the comics but who knows. Killmonger gets killed fairly early in the comics so i don't know why he'd come back him just waking up doesn't make much sense since he was dead well before the snap.
It might be that Shuri tries to bring T’Challa back but he’s completely passed to the other side but… Killmonger is stuck in limbo due to his actions (the ancestors don’t accept him?) and thus he’s able to return to redeem himself. Also, his body could have been retrieved by Atlantis and that somehow plays a part
I believe that’s Nakia in the BP suit. Clue (1) They show her at the very beginning of the trailer. Clue (2) The shape of the person in the suit seems feminine. I rule out Shiri bc she is very petite. The person has a little more curves. Clue (3) The Queen said she lost her ENTIRE family. I think Nakia will have to rescue Shiri from Namor. But Dr. Doom is actually pulling the strings unbeknownst to both kingdoms.

I was just watching a trailer of Wakanda Forever And It Blew Me Away! ❤ 'No woman, No Cry " brought tears to my eyes and THAT AMAZING SCENE Where its Said " And When I Wake Up"😱
The blue serpent Namor touches actually looks like Quetzalcoatl, which is a "Jesus-like" Serpent God from Aztec and Mayan mythology. They believed he had the ability to change from a man, into a massive feathered serpent, hence the human head and serpent body. Serpents were a huge part of Mayan/Aztec myths and represent change, transformation, rebirth.

Quetzalcoatl was also considered a god of earth and water early on. It possibly references all of the similarities and polarities of wakanda (earth) and Atlantis (water)

Quetzalcoatl is a dragon , he is referenced as a "The fathered snake" which is a poetic way of calling him a dragon
@@kevinsierra8080 "Dragon" is a european word that basically means, "huge serpent". And by no means is he depicted as a European dragon. I'm pretty sure people only call him a dragon so they can have an well known reference for English speakers.
I can’t think of a teaser that was more emotionally moving in a somber way than this one. This movie has the makings to be incredible overall.

I want it to be Killmonger, but that figure is too small to be him.
I would love to see Killmonger come back and as we saw in What If? If anyone can convince a madman to change their ways it’s T’challa. Plus he’s one of the last people to consume the heart shaped herb and I didn’t see no dead body at the end of Black Panther.
He also said to bury him in the ocean like his ancestors. So maybe they did and then Namor found his body and brought him back to life.

@@hoehitta9700 there was no body by the end of the movie. People have survived worse things in the MCU and Wakanda have the best medical technology in the world. It's completely plausible for him to be alive

After all he's T'challa cousin, but I bet T'challa would see him as a brother. Of course he'd treat his brother and make him well. That's the theory haha

I like that one of the Atlantean soldiers is wearing a headdress reminiscent of a hammerhead shark. Despite their blue skin, they're clearly near-human, so giving them actual shark features would have made them less relatable and interesting, but the visual language is still there.

Not only does Namor predate Aquaman but also the idea of being half-human, half-Atlantean royalty wasn't part of Aquaman's story until the 50s. Aquaman's been copying Namor's homework his whole career.

You gotta remember, most people/kids are only seeing these characters depicted on the big screen. When in reality, these characters have been around for decades. It's cool to know the actual facts, and backstories. Since Aquaman's movies have been out before this introduction of Namor, people are going to think Namor is a carbon copy. Honestly ,I think Nakia might be the new black panther. It makes sense when you consider the fact she's royalty in her own right, has excellent fighting skills, and is knowledgeable of the outside world. There were rumors years ago that shuri might be the black panther but, it doesn't fit her movie character.

Is it Mayan or Aztec? The attire looks more Aztec. The best thing about this phase of marvel is that we are seeing a more diverse world. Hero’s from different regions hero’s that can represent different cultures. I LOVE that they made Namor from Mexico. Now Hispanic kids can see themselves in a hero like African American kids saw themselves in black panther. Can’t wait to see this movie.

Well this is weird to me to said this but. ..I'm from Colombia and the majority of childrens don't care much about the ethnicity of the characters. Many children that I know watch a lot anime and enjoy it, they don't care about the fact that the majority of the main cast are Japanese (that also they have straight hair, beautiful looking eyes, skinny bodys, sweet voices) .
I mean yeah is good and cool to see more diversity and representation of the many other cultures around the world. The best wishes this movie I loved the frist one and I'm going to see this one.
But come on you don't need a character that represents you, you need character that inspires you.

Hey man! Namor and his people aesthetics are a mix between Maya and Mexica culture, both from Mexico and Mesoamerica but different in time and location. I think it's something important to stress in a movie series that has colonialism and representation as something very important. :)

If namor gets his powers from a jaguar God, and killmonger was thrown into the ocean in a jaguar inspired suit I don't think it's a stretch to think that Atlantis saved him. He would already have the heart shaped herb in his blood, and would be in line to be the black panther.

Shuri is the new Black panther, at least in this trailer, which makes sense. Apparently, once Shuri drinks the potion and goes to the Astral Plane, she sees Killmonger rather than Tchalla, so her Black Panther suit has some gold in it, same as Killmonger had. And that figure is of a woman for shur(i).
I believe Its Nakia, pay attention to the figure of the body. They already know most will assume Shuri. At least you arent one of those who think its killmonger. 😆😂

Shuri is black panther, when the queen said she lost every one she referred to shuri dying in the atlantean attack( flooding wakanda) shuri goes to the astral plane, meets bast (love and thunder) who gives her the mantle and powers, allowing her to save the day and attack namor in the final moments.
Based off of the trailer it seems Namors gonna attack right after or during Angela Bassets' powerful speech, and it also seems Shuri is missing at that time based on her saying her ENTIRE family is gone. This movies gonna be the best of the year forsure and make over 1B

I'm so freaking pumped for this! Quick note, that's not a sea serpent on that mural in front of Namor, it's Quetzalcoatl, or "feathered serpent", one of the main gods in Aztec culture.
What I liked about this trailer is that Namor is based on a Mayan and makes it more interesting to know how these indegenous tribes(Wakanda and Atlantis) started their war.

Like many other people in the comment section I want to reiterate that the indigenous people in this trailer are Mexica (Aztec) and probably not Maya. This happens a lot in the history of the Americas where the Mexica the Maya and the Inca are used interchangeably when they are all three separate civilizations in three different locations and existed at different times in history. Also I am not gonna use the colonial and exonym term “Aztec” as not only is it not appropriate it is not respectful and it is the wrong term to use. These people called themselves the Mexica, which is where we get the word Mexico.

You’re wrong, you’re making a baseless assumption. it is not Mexica. The actor playing Namor (Tenoch Huerta) confirmed he had to learn the Mayan language for the role. The glyphs shown in the trailer are also Mayan, they don’t even resemble Mexica. Lol.
The Inca are in Peru. The Aztec (just gonna use the term I’m familiar with, hope it’s not offensive) evolved from the Mayan culture (obviously with their own unique style) and the Olmec culture predated the Mayan. But there is clear connections between the 3. The Mayan calendar for instance was started by the Olmecs and later adapted by the Aztecs

I'm just hoping the Atlanteans' justification in this film isn't the same as in Aquaman. Trash in the ocean is obviously an enormous problem, but from a storytelling standpoint, it would be refreshing to see a new and different motivation. Taking that route just feels too obvious and easy; I'd like a complicated history between the two nations instead. Perhaps an ancient conflict lost to time and memory in Wakanda, but never forgotten by the Atlanteans. Something rich in lore. I doubt we'll get that, but I'd be delighted to find out I'm wrong.

When Queen mother refered to losing her children and if she hasn't given enough, this might be a flashback to the time just after the blip.
Unfortunately, both T'Challa (king) and Shuri (princess and scientific genius) dissapeared.
Also, the fact that the first battle against Thanos armies occured in Wakanda. Many Wakandans sacrificed their lives in the war even before the blip. Those lives were never blipped back.
Maybe during that time, just having suffered all those losses, goverments tried to take more advantage of Wakanda's "weakened" position and she was pushing back from other governments trying to get their hands on vibranium.

I honestly think that Namar's mom is wakandian. Because of the shore line is near wakanda where his house is burned. It could be that Wakanda and Atlantians were not all good back then and didnt want them being together. Look at the mom's outfits. It could be that the Atlantians got Aztec influence but can travel anywhere. That his father fell in love with a Wakandian women. The Wakandians disaproved of their union.

It's definitely true that Wakanda used to be secretive to a fault (in the opinion of many of the main cast). It's quite possible that they would react harshly to such a union with another people and try to quash it.

I can see general Ross tricking Wakanda and Atlantis in to fighting each other. With him failing, he and the Thunders bolts coming together and challenging 1 of the 2 and fight for their vibranium.. that would be cool. I'm looking forward to seeing the Thunderbolts in the MCU.
That scene with shuri walking into the lab mirrors the scene with her and tchalla from black panther. Maybe foreshadowing that she will become the next black panther.
I think the twist is going to be Shuri resurrecting Killmonger to be blackpanther. It all depends on how they deal with T’Chala’s death, was it a disease or killed off in action. If his death in the MCU makes his body unviable for resurrection then Killmonger is the best next candidate. They no longer have the heart shaped flower, so that shot of Shuri in the flooded throne room surrounded by fire is her coming to the realization that she needs to resurrect Erick! He can be blackpanther for a while until Shuri finds a way to make new blackpanthers based of Eric’s blood!
