Sorry if the audio is a little low on this on! I got a new mic and haven’t had time to play with the best settings as of yet! Maybe use headphone to get the best results! Thanks for watching!
Digby Dooright for some reason on some devices it’s really soft. But we didn’t talk all that much during this exploring. Tried to respect the neighbours and document
18 St. George’s road Toorak Melbourne Victoria this property did indeed sell for 40million and upon the sale the front of the house was not damaged at all the only things wrong were the fire damage and the black pool. When it was bought the buyer (a man from Hong Kong in the medical field) said that the front of the house would be renovated and restored however the back would be demolished and rebuilt because of the structural damages caused by the fire. It’s very interesting that the front is now completely trashed via a water pipe that was cut?? The reason I feel this is more a case of sabotage to get the approval to knock the whole property down as stated it could be at the start of the video is because this has happened in this street before and there is more money in knocking it down than renovations
It’s so interesting reading up on this place. The Hong Kong investor paid $40 million for it which didn’t come in pristine condition. The pool was dirty and the back quarters already ravaged by fire which was caused by a cleaner dumping hot coals into the bin. On top of the $40mil he also had to pay about $7mil in fees and taxes and apparently has a bill of approx $600k in land taxes a year. Just throwing money away
People who say it isn’t worth 40 million you obviously don’t live in Melbourne. Property is extremely expensive and depending where the house is located also adds to the price.
Probably a corrupt banker's home. Cheaper to tear it down. But oh what that house could do with a little community service. A whole community center. Or even house the homeless veterans. I'm just saying...
Pretty formal gardens, the gates are amazing, library in red...yew. What no one checks on these multi million dollar homes? That should never happen! That looks like it was intentional by cutting the water pipes......
The air conditioners have the blue tape on it, meaning it was never used. The storage or walking closed made from wood looks in pristine or never used condition.
have you seen the RT Edgar video on how it looked before it was abandoned? it's pretty majestic. apparently the home dates back to the 1920's even though whoever redecorated it in the 90's didn't have very good taste.
I'm no real estate broker but I just don't see $40 million dollars there. Even fully furnished and in mint condition. I'd say about 10 tops. Great vid though.
Geez, that house is beautiful. So many fireplaces too lol. Wonder what caused the family to move out and just forget about the place. Shame to see it falling victim to neglect.
i suggest you go to the registry of deeds to know the previous owner and from there, to the library where this house is located. Maybe, they have a note or two on this propertys owner.
It’s called land banking. An overseas investor buys the property for the land value, the house is inconsequential. They either develop the site or buy subsequent and adjoining property’s as they come to market to capitalise on blue chip suburb land returns or the ability to develop. There’s a couple of famous examples around the Toorak area in Melbourne. Utter shame.
Looks to me that there was a really bad fire and they just decided not to rebuild thier home. Probably cheaper to just buy a new one if they had insurance to collect on the mansion that burned.
Epic looking place. I should get in there before it gets locked up or trashed. The audio was super quiet, I could barely hear you talk but it was cool none the less.
Designed in 1920 by architect Christopher Cowper as his own home, the property first sold when Cowper and his wife, Mary secured £15,250 for it in 1925. In approx. May 2017 after being owned for two decades the previous owners sold the 1920s one-acre property "as-is" for $40 million, becoming, at the time, the most expensive property in Toorak - with a further $8.5 million in government fees on top of the purchase price. The home has been vacant since approx Spring 2014 after a fire, caused by a cleaner dropping hot coals into a wheelie bin ultimately destroying the back half of the property. As a result of water to extinguish the fire the home suffered even greater damage, the reason the ceiling has fallen in some areas. Attempting to extinguish a fire it's the water that does irreversible damage. Following a fire, as long as the structure remains sound the finishes can be stripped and replaced. But water gets everywhere, inside the walls and ceilings, and can sit under and on the floors. Damage from a fire can often be seen, damage from water cannot. Even just excess moisture in the air has the potential to cause a property considerable damage. Any delays in resolving moisture ASAP can be disastrous. Once mould begins to grow it is extremely difficult to resolve and can compromise the health of anyone within its vicinity. It is very likely repairs can begin after a fire with no actual understanding of potential problems until its well beyond the ability to properly correct it. Upon purchasing the home the new owner claimed to want to retain the original home and rebuild what the fire destroyed. This property would likely be stripped to the bare walls and everything would then be replaced. The building thought to be a shed looked to also be a photography studio. The black box that appeared to be a clock is a timer, and the long stainless trough-like structure along the wall would have been used to rinse and develop images. Behind that shed is a three-bedroom guest house. The space next to the kitchen with the wall of stainless refrigerators would have been used as a catering kitchen. The room with the red lacquered walls would have been used as an office/library. Furnished the red would not be quite as glaring with books on the shelves as they would obscure a great deal of the colour. Lacquering the walls as they are are is not an inexpensive finish. It's unfortunate that the property has been allowed to essentially rot as is, and though a considerable amount of cash was spend to purchase it there may be benefits to the owner as deductions against their income tax
One section gutted by fire, what a waist, empty and abandoned, severe water leaks, main hall celling down, water all over the floor. carpets are soaked. Awesome fridges and big fitted wardrobes.
What a waste of what was once a beautiful home. I really hope whoever purchased this tries to save the marble and white french doors and remake the entire home again.
Jo Harmon that's great but I had mine turned up all the way & it was still hard to hear! Not all phones are alike. I normally wouldn't have commented on it but I was truly interested in what the Man had to say thank you!👏👏👏
I don't get why these huge places are left vacant to let folks in to vandalise, so many veterans could actually collectively use and respect a place like this, so many places left to rot yet we are so scarce on dwellings , such a shame , iam guessing all rolled up in red tape?
so water leaking from a pipe for years and years....what a waste of water...no one can turn it off....the damage is done but at least stop wasting water...
I love karma.. No one needs a 40 million dollar place to live. Imagine how many people could have been helped and fed with that house...Rich people learn the hard way..in the mean time..places like this go to waste. I think they got what they deserved
It's sad that you would say such a thing. Wishing harm on anyone is just wrong. I know a few very wealthy families and they are some of the nicest and most giving people I know. They give away millions and still have plenty to have their luxuries, which they deserve. There is plethora of money in the world.
Some really nice things that could be recycled. That’d be a great tear down job to get! What a beauty it was. Thanks!great video

Hello Aliande how are you doing today

Kinda annoys me some people have so much to just blow away though when i'm here having to be a major tight ass to get through life
Good info
People who say it isn’t worth 40 million you obviously don’t live in Melbourne. Property is extremely expensive and depending where the house is located also adds to the price.
Too bad someone can’t buy that and restore. It is beautiful and they don’t make homes like that anymore unfortunately. Great video. 🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂
Sally0518 thanks!
OH MY GOSH, what a serious waste of a mansion!!!!!!! thanks for showing us though, I'd still live there as is :)
Yeah it’s crazy huh!
Probably a corrupt banker's home. Cheaper to tear it down. But oh what that house could do with a little community service. A whole community center. Or even house the homeless veterans. I'm just saying...
Gya Gya's World I concur
Very sad. Beautiful house.
Great explore, looking forward to more.
carol neaves thanks carol!!!
Pretty formal gardens, the gates are amazing, library in red...yew. What no one checks on these multi million dollar homes? That should never happen! That looks like it was intentional by cutting the water pipes......
The outside looks pretty good. The landscaping has been kept up, even the hedges are trimmed.
Hello Shirley how are you doing today
The air conditioners have the blue tape on it, meaning it was never used. The storage or walking closed made from wood looks in pristine or never used condition.
That place is big! It looked like fire took out a room.
Good job guys. Nice adventure
Great video, sad to see so much damage
Hello Leah how are you doing today
What is the name if this mansion? I'd like to do some research.
I love this video, it’s a shame that they have to tear it down. I love the music at the end. Keep up the wonderful work.Stay safe.
Thanks Deborah
Hello Deborah how are you doing today
I was there the other day it is epic haven't uploaded pics yet.
Wow. This was abandoned?? Beautiful home. Thank you for sharing.
Yeah sure is. Thanks for the comment
Downtown on 7th Avenue Handbag Adventures ~ WOW 🤔 Looks more like a hotel/motel than a family home. 🙄
have you seen the RT Edgar video on how it looked before it was abandoned? it's pretty majestic. apparently the home dates back to the 1920's even though whoever redecorated it in the 90's didn't have very good taste.
Some one needs to cut water off at water meter
Mary Adams I’m pretty sure it’s off now.
it was a 40 million dollar mansion dont get it people do this sad nice vidoe guys
Wow what a shame! That was the Office library mahogany bookcases very expensive, I wonder what happened?
Yeah I loved that office!
That toilet tank looks like for that bathroom you showed next. There's no tank on the toilet. Probly to get it close to the wall. Bad ass house
One of what used to be Australia's gems... now nothing but an insurance claim.
That so sad I wish I have house like that thank guys
Where is this place
I'm no real estate broker but I just don't see $40 million dollars there. Even fully furnished and in mint condition. I'd say about 10 tops. Great vid though.
Hydrogen Peroxide id say the same. But it was sold for that amount! Thanks!
IT HAS TO DO WITH weather your in beverly hills california or in some small town in kansas as in about 10.000 population
You're not taking into consideration land value (size, location) etc. It would go for a lot more than 10mil
I think location chimes in on that price. I agree though, house alone 10 tops
I would assume that the room with red walls would've been a library/study. Definitely see the potential in this house, what a waste
I reckon that odd room with the timer was a darkroom for developing photos. My guess.
Gorgeous!
Kat T is pretty amazing
Pretty cool to see this from another perspective! :)
GivesAMinute yeah I love watching other vloggers film the same location. Seeing it though someone else’s eyes!
Beautiful.hi Saludos Puerto Rico.
Woaw très belle maison
Great video Beautiful home. Just couldn't hear you
kelly myers read the pinned comment.....

Hello Patricia how are you doing today
Geez, that house is beautiful. So many fireplaces too lol. Wonder what caused the family to move out and just forget about the place. Shame to see it falling victim to neglect.
What was the name of your explorer pal? Couldn't hear what you said. Thanks! Great video, subscribed.
The water leaks need sorting out, before more damage is done, landing carpets are soaked
Yard/grass/garden/grounds look(s) better maintained than mine.....
offspringin right!? Crazy huh
When was this house built? When was it abandoned ? All drapes are custom, beautiful! Whats the story here? D
D.O I’m not when it was built.
11:11 i see water and wires, bad combo! glad you all made it out alive!
Tina M Fam yeah it's not good. We planned every step we took up there lol
I think I will be moving there, just so I can squat in this beauty.
Where's SERVPRO when you need it?
Que casa maravilhosa 😍😍😍
Does anyone know the actual story behind this place?
Sean McMurray I don’t really know the whole story. But it was bought by an overseas buyer.
Are they going to fix this?
I bet they tear it down and build some horrible monstrosity.
i suggest you go to the registry of deeds to know the previous owner and from there, to the library where this house is located. Maybe, they have a note or two on this propertys owner.

Lovely garden, needs a lot of sorting out, restoration work. Worth Forty million Dollars? with lots of structural problems
Cool !
WOW what a shame . But I often wonder why does anyone need so a huge house. Thanks for the video
Jo Harmon it’s crazy how big this place is!
Is this in Austrelia?
Sazia Yeaqub yes 🇦🇺
Australia*
This looks like the same house that was gutted, and has become an insurance claim,?
shirley coles oh def was a insurance claim/scam
How many bedrooms and bathrooms?
Do you get permission to go onto these properties or do you just trespass..
Hey, not a single furniture left behind. I bet they move out long before the fire.
It has sat empty for sometime!
It's a shame that these magnificent homes are left to decay.
Kay Northcott very much so
why wouldnt ushut off the main water shutoff
Amazing! Where is this?
Melbourne Australia
Where`s this house at
JULIO perez 18 St. George’s road Toorak Melbourne
Why wouldn't this place have been repaired?
I don’t have a answer for that!
Seriously... I kept shaking my head through the whole video wondering the same... Great explore, btw! 👍🏽
The Gallivanting Ginger thanks!

Epic looking place. I should get in there before it gets locked up or trashed. The audio was super quiet, I could barely hear you talk but it was cool none the less.
Really? That’s weird. I have no issue with it! No one else has said anything either. Did you watch with headphones?
Yeah I did, oh well might be some other issue on my end. I was in a noisy environment.
Floyd Bromley I’m using a new mic! But I just tested it with my phone no headphones and had no issue! Weird
Yeah the actual quality was good but had it on full volume and was just real quiet. I'll try again on my phone or something another time.
Floyd Bromley odd! I did post the volume a bit. Then again we were being whispering for most of the time. It’s not loud on audio anyway lol
What a nice place if they could afford a mansion they must be able to afford to fix it up what a waste
Good explore, but audio was almost nil. I had to tie. Up my TV to 17 and I could barely hear still.
Mari Daza yeah sorry new mic didn’t have the settings right! All fixed now!
Yal know about the Fresh Prince over there
Haha yeah man! It’s huge haha
MuiTube its kinda sad to c that big beautiful house like that.
MuiTube what would u say, about $100,000 in damage? And building every day it rains
OLCtv yeah it’s such an amazing area. I was blown away!
OLCtv yeah it not more. With the fire and the water damage!
Some how someone should let the water company know that the pipe is cut wasting a lot of water
kelly myers a friend turned it off the next day
Than's Guys From Catalonia 👍

One section gutted by fire, what a waist, empty and abandoned, severe water leaks, main hall celling down, water all over the floor. carpets are soaked. Awesome fridges and big fitted wardrobes.
I wonder who mows the lawn...
What a waste of what was once a beautiful home. I really hope whoever purchased this tries to save the marble and white french doors and remake the entire home again.
Sadly this place is really smashed up now!

I turned up my volume to halfway mark and I could hear it just fine
Jo Harmon that's great but I had mine turned up all the way & it was still hard to hear! Not all phones are alike. I normally wouldn't have commented on it but I was truly interested in what the Man had to say thank you!👏👏👏
Someone is still maintaining the grass and bushes odd
Haha most women have about 30 pair shoes, when you add in flip flops etc.... Small rooms for staff I assume
What the house looked like before: m.ruclips.net/video/DpwjiuPPUJU/видео.html
Awful lot of water damage now
That is NO FORTY MILLION DOLLAR house. And for that amount, it should be ready for someone to turn the key and move in.
Okay
40 million?? Then why in the world would they let it rot?☹
I don't get why these huge places are left vacant to let folks in to vandalise, so many veterans could actually collectively use and respect a place like this, so many places left to rot yet we are so scarce on dwellings , such a shame , iam guessing all rolled up in red tape?
Funny, it does look like the house used in fresh prince of bel air
Probably not worth repairing. Level it and start again.
What a shame it ih s just going to waste@
Looks like the sauna was a little hot eh?
Just a little haha
Oh' ya' leave your finger prints all over😒❗👍👌✌
I would of gone to the street and turned the water off at the meter.
This is sick as f**k
Thanks mate!
MuiTube this is an old 1 hay??
Have i seen this on Boston??
RespectBombers he filmed there some time ago. But never got in. He will have a video out very soon!
Don’t you do any research?
Sick not to b taken care of
Such a shame!
so water leaking from a pipe for years and years....what a waste of water...no one can turn it off....the damage is done but at least stop wasting water...

Does not at all look $40 million! Maybe 1 - 2million at most!
