I use to live on Guernsey Trail where this video took place. Nothing is haunted, nobody went bankrupt so stupid... we simply could not resist the offer from Cary Medical so we all sold on the same day. On the last day with the street lined with moving trucks we had a block party in the street. It was a very sad day as most owners were original to when the street was built and our kids grew up together. One by one each moving truck pulled out away from what we once called home to disperse to the left and to the right on Kildaire Farm Rd to start our new life in a new neighborhood. It's very sad to drive down the street and see was once called home trashed from people with no respect.
It costs ALOT to maintain a home. There’s a reason we don’t shell out abandoned homes to the homeless. One, most aren’t safe, and if one is, it will likely become unsafe quickly. Someone has to pay for water, electricity, sewage, maintenance upkeep, property tax, mold remediation. The sad fact is that many homeless aren’t capable of handling those responsibilities. I mean look at how the people who were living in that house treated it. Tearing things off the house to burn.
@@GlurglePop I think though, instead of letting things rot, if they were given the house, and as long as they tried to maintain it, things would be a LOT better. Many people would LOVE to have a home, with pride, but just can't get the down payment.... Many could keep it once they got it. it's just the 'getting it' is the problem. And, just because someone is 'homeless' doesn't mean they are bad people, it could be lost money for medical, divorce, etc. Given the chance, they could become homeowners, and even rent out a room or two to keep things going. Just letting something nice deteriorate does no one good.
@@lesliedeana5142 Yeah, I could use a home to call my own. I would love to have one of these houses and would maintain it to the best of my ability...just sad, that property is just sitting there when someone could live in it and care for it.
I went out there today (12/8/2018) because youtube randomly suggested this video yesterday. The entire street/neighborhood is gone and replaced by Wake Med, which is an extension of the hospital across the street. It's close to finished but still under construction. The name of the street has been changed to something like Wake Med Drive but Google still has it listed a Guernsey Trail. I live in Raleigh now but grew up in Cary, so it was neat to see this video capture a neighborhood much like the one I grew up in.
Thanks for the follow-up. It's always good to know what became of an estate like this. The presenter should have checked his facts as to the reason the estate was abandoned.
Velouria Lemur it’s just really neat to see an urban explorer that knows what the correct architectural terms are, and unless well made home components.
Squater's dream! Running water, carpet, fireplaces to stay somewhat warm, even a mattress in one of the homes. So crazy that those houses are sitting there like that and with running water?!? Wish we knew the families' stories.
We do, there are articles about this area on the internet. A big developer wanted to buy the property and the hospital across the street wants to put in senior housing. All the neighbors agreed to sell, and moved out. They were likely well compensated, and most of the building materials from the houses were donated to Habitat for Humanity. No real mysteries here. From what I hear, there is a large sign at the end of the road telling exactly what is going on, but none of the videos I've seen show it.
I live in Cary, no one was forced out, no ghosts, nothing. The homeowners were approached by a large company that offered to buy them out so they could use the land to build a new medical facility and nursing home, parking garage, etc. All you have to do is google abandoned Cary neighborhood.
OJ McClanahan- WTF are you talking about, "abandoned for 20 years"? The last families moved out in December of 2016. These homes haven't even been abandoned for an entire year yet, much less 20 of them. The building of the nursing home and medical facility has already started. And that police tape isn't from a "murder scene", it was put up by the landowners/developers to keep some idiot from falling through the missing floor and into the basement and suing them for millions of dollars. The floors were ripped up due to asbestos being used in the construction. You aren't allowed to just demolish buildings full of asbestos, the asbestos has to be carefully removed before demolition so you aren't launching billions of cancerous asbestos particles into the air for everyone within 20 miles to inhale.
I live in Cary ! WakeMed Hospital bought out the neighborhood (every homeowner accepted and sold same day) and extended the street/renamed it. It’s very sad but also not surprising. Thanks for posting. Ps: they left pictures of their poor grandma lol
Just to clarify to the newer posters, they did not abandon their homes and were not bankrupt. This was a block buy out by a medical company and it was redeveloped. It seems they all got a good deal way above market value and moved on to continue their lives. Now a medical centre and supporting buildings are on the land. I hope wherever the previous home owners moved to, it was not near such a noisy road as that would drive me nuts :)
But it was sold to be torn down and replaced with a medical plaza across from the hospital. Why would you add MORE people to it just to have to force them away, too? Or if there were some squatters still in the homes when they were demolished? Cary also isn't a place full of many homeless people.
The homeless couldn't pay the taxes. Taxes, besides mental and drug problems are one of the main reasons why they're homeless. Keep asking for bigger and more government. Feudalism, it's what's for supper.
I checked on Google maps and the entire neighborhood is gone. It is now one sprawling medical complex. Looks totally different. If it wasn't for RnK All Day., We would never know how different this area was and exactly what it looked like. Thanks RnK!
That's why highway departments are building sound barriers. When whey built these highways they should have bought a half mile wide stretch of land on either side
You only notice the lack of noise in situations like that. The CTA elevated line ran through the ally next to our back yard. I lived there from birth for 10 years and only noticed when the trains stopped running. I also live about a block away from the highway. I will notice when there's a really loud truck but outside of that, I don't notice anything.
Given the traffic or highway noise I'd say the people who sold out to the development company were blessed with a gift of a buyer. Be tough to sell next to that noise.
Shit that was my first thought when this video started. That fucking highway noise is INCREDIBLY loud and would last all fucking day long and some of the night. Judging by the interiors, some of those places were built in the late 70's/early 80's, so I'm kind of amazed that there were never any noise barriers built in all the years those homes were there. Goddamn that road noise is annoying...
yogaplaneresearchgroup I was thinking the same thing. Don’t know if I could get use to that. I wonder what it sounded like when people lived there, everyday noises. Could they have drowned out the noise?
just to make more sense of it for ya, it wasn't always that noisy, there used to be lot more trees between the highway and the houses but they tore a bunch down in 2015. and a noise barrier wasn't a good option for the location, i know this video poster made it seem like this wasn't in a busy area but this actually sits in the heart of a very busy commercial zone and that highway has a alot developed on it and expected lots of more growth so be pointless to build a wall on it since we'd end up tearing it down shortly after for more constructions.
RnK aLL dAY, thanks for sharing this video with us. It is interesting how many of us love "exploring" abandoned places, even if it just online... GREAT JOB

And no one moved all those extremely expensive appliances out, like that stainless steel refrigerator? I can't even afford all of those things, and here they have just been left behind. Unbelievable.
If I had a refrigerator like that, couldn't take it with me, and knew the house would be torn down I would find somebody who could use it even if it meant giving the fridge away. Ditto the appliances. We have a Habitat for Humanity Re-Store in my town and I'd have someone from there take everything they want or I would find an individual to do that. "If you can come get it, it's yours".
how do you know that?. If so, I want to know where the store is so I can buy new appliances.....or slightly used appliances............Who doesn't take a new SS refrigerator with them when they leave?
There are Habitat For Humanity Restores in just about every town in America. Just google it. They always have reasonably priced appliances and furniture, as well as discounted building supplies and fixtures. My hubby and I do a LOT of shopping at our Habitat Restore in Glasgow, Kentucky!
If anybody is curious, this place was torn down a couple years ago. Probably not too much later after this video was posted. It’s all gone forever. But the story is some dude built all the houses, but then the city came through and bought all the land off him right after it was completed. I think it’s all business buildings now
Daniel Bowens, So the city bought all the land from the guy who built all the houses right after he finished building all the houses? But I thought people had been living in the houses for a while before having to leave. If that is so then were they renting the homes or did they buy the homes? Too many unanswered questions! Please explain if you can because I am confused now.
@@DAsh-wi1zc How was the city able to buy the land if people were living in the houses? Were they renting the homes or what? Daniel Bowens says above that the city bought the houses right after the builder finished building them but how is that possible if people were living in the houses for a while before leaving? Can you explain this mystery to me because somebody doesn`t have their facts straight
Daniel Bowens, I forgot to add that RnK All Day Claims in the Video that the Neighborhood Became Bankrupt & that`s why the people left but Mr RnK Doesn`t Explain how this all Happened! Somebody Doesn`t Have Their Facts Straight! How does a neighborhood go bankrupt? But you say this is not what happened, so who`s Right & who`s Wrong because We Don`t Seem to Have All the Facts Here!
Those French doors to the deck area on the "crackhead house" are super expensive. I cannot believe all the money and resources that are going to waste in this soon-to-be-demolished neighborhood. Such unconscionable waste.
Habitat for Humanity has been coming and pulling the doors down to sell in their ReStore. The funds then go towards building homes for families in need. No worries -- there was very little waste! Habitat ensured the materials were recycled!
@@TheBigfoot567 He's also just a common trespasser who will eventually get his ass blown-off by an owner who's had enough of these pathetic profiteers.
RnK All Day bruv, how long since last visit, I'm thinking about that stainless fridge. we have the same one in white , but broken when we bought (ripped off local as is).
I checked out the houses on Zillow. Two people held out on selling their properties until March and April 2017 and made millions. One on Guernsey Trail and the other on Hereford Lane in Cary, North Carolina. One made over 3 million and the other almost 3 million. The others only made a few hundred thousand for theirs. The properties are right across the road from WakeMed Cary Hospital.
Nina Smith-Cable OK those houses are nice but no way in hell are they $3 million nice and this is coming from someone that lives in the most expensive part of the north east Coast
I am amazed that these houses were built back in the 80s and abandoned and are in such good condition. Usually you would find graffiti on the walls, broken windows, lots of leaks and mold and you don’t see much of that at all. And no one knows why the neighborhood was abandoned?
No a nearby hospital offers to buy the neighborhood and every home owner agreed to sell. Now all the houses are sold and the hospital put hospital buildings in the area. If you go on Google Earth you can see the buildings but once you go into what is now the parking lot, the picture will change to pictures of the neighborhood when people still lived there
@shanaemerine9074 - Nah, it's just a really nice, safe place. It's near UNC, Chapel Hill. I went to school there and dated a guy who lived in the area. I really wanted to live there, but life took me elsewhere.
This is exactly why i love ur vids, the video the music reminds me of where i was, what ive accomplished and not to look back but to remember. Remember that there is always someone out there that has it worse than me and like me they too can become a productive member of society. Great job!!! This one hit home.
RnK All Day and a lot of people would love to have a fireplace in their homes and it can also ad value to your homes as well as the original characteristic of the house and having some acres that is part of your property will help the value of your home.
Awesome explore. Great job filming, had to subscribe, every video gets better and better! Some of the houses were so beautiful but I don't think I could live with that traffic noise. I can't imagine relaxing on my deck having to yell to someone sitting right across from me just to have a conversation.
The first video I saw I was like " Oh this is gonna be some cocky ahole with an attitude " (after the loud intro and the sunglasses I thought for sure I wouldn't make it through the first three minutes.)....Thanks for proving me wrong. I like your style and you have some really unique videos.
Heartbreaking. These homes are beautiful, imagine the families that lived there and the hopes and dreams they had for their children. Thank you for sharing, love your videos.
The abandoned toys and family photos are the most tragic things about this. The love of families, are the things that matter most. My heart hurts for them.
Emma Renee that’s nothing when we moved out of Minnesota ( we had a garage sale ) a woman asked if we were leaving the family dog? My mother’s jaw dropped open. “Of course we are, she exclaimed” what kind evil person abandons the family dog? I don’t get it.
The funniest bit is at 11:52. He is blown away by the old TV with the push buttons and no remote, and he says his grandparents had one like it. Dude, *I* had one like it as a child in the 70s! It's not exactly a horseless carriage.
Abandoned houses are just sad. People’s belongings left behind as if they were in a hurry to just get away. Photographs, furniture, mementos left like they weren’t important anymore.
"The entire neighborhood agreed to put their entire community up for sale as commercial property. The reason for this, some neighbors are saying, is because Cary has experienced such rapid development. Twenty years ago, that area of Kildaire Farms Road wasn't so busy and built up. Unhappy with the fast pace of growth, but not always able to afford to just up and move, sometimes neighborhoods create this kind of solution. So the rapid expansion of Cary is partially to blame. These are nice houses -- according to Zillow, many are worth between $250-300k. The company that bought the neighborhood is planning to raze the houses and build a senior living community."
siszam that's what I thought it could be, or a case of eminent domain. either way it's sad to see such nice neighborhood disappear. Thanks for the input.
Yes, thank you Siszam for filling us in. It's not often someone knows the score on situations like this and we sit around wondering. Your input saved us from all that. Very nice.
siszam, this is not far from my home! I have not heard of this, but I've got friends that way and i'll ask...I remember when EVERYTHING was about moving to Cary, especially Kildaire Farms area. it was the place to be. Then 2008 came along....my friends bought foreclosures...
If the owners sold their homes to developers, why did they leave behind so many personal items when they moved out? Who moves out and leaves behind televisions, toys, clothing and furniture? Why weren't they taken to the new homes?
I wondered that same thing too. What comes to the TV and furniture, only explanation I could come up with was that maybe they were already broken/dirty and that's why they were left behind. Don't know about other personal stuff, though.
You people need to realize that if those people did not budge, then the company would have aimed for imminent domain, and if they would have won then everyone in that neighborhood would have gotten bottom dollar. The payoff the city would have received to force those people out would have been an obscene amount of cash, and the neighbors would have walked away with chump change. The only reason they didn't do imminent domain on the last 2 houses is because it would have not been worth it, so they paid them 20 times what the houses and properties were worth just to get them out!
The previous owners are laughing all the way to the bank. Plus whole neighborhoods don't go bankrupt. I have driven by there many times. Medical center is probably finished by now
Wow so much wrong with this comment it's laughable. First off, it is eminent domain and second it only applies to government claiming land to improve infrastructure or benefit society as a whole (think roads, fire houses, police stations, schools). Last I checked there is not a single payer health system in America. Bottom line is the homeowners scored a huge payout to make it not worth their while to fight or stay. It may have been a sad day but they are living the American dream and quite well at that.
Eminent domain can only be issued by the government. It is a VERY abused system, fraught with corruption, under market compensation to property owners, payoffs to political cronies, typical of the way government operates. In this instance, it appears this community was bought out by a private corporation. In that case, they were likely compensated very well for their homes.
I must add, that TV, we had one, though it had turn dials, when I was a little girl. I was the "channel changer," I also had to lean over the TV to change from UHF to VHF, the process was with one cable with I swear an attachment on it that resembled a jumper cable lol!!! We had 5 channels. It was late 70s early 80s. Consoles were the deal!! We never switched to Plasma or LCD or whatever until we had to for cable, but we still have older TVs that were from late 90s to 2000s that work with cable so great deal :)
I think of these homes as I thought of my own, the way the excitement of buying and moving into your new home captured your emotions. Seeing this, makes my hart sink to only imagine how these folks' dreams were shattered. Shattered quickly enough to leave your pictures and purge those memories.
RUclips kept suggesting that I watch this video, even though I knew I already did watch it! So I watched it! Glad I did! This may be the video that got me hooked on RnK! What sets him apart is that he knows the construction industry and can give an intelligent view of he we are seeing! Great video....again!
If you know anything about Cary NC you know that it is a very expensive high end residential City to live in so they must of spent a pretty penny to buy all these houses that they left vacant.
bbygrlpt2 it’s not in the middle of nowhere. This guy just made it seem that way. It’s right in the middle of a very busy, popular shopping area. Very high end. Nothing weird here, although it is extremely creepy there. I live down the road, been there a couple times. And to the person saying it’s got good and trashy parts... ummm what part of Cary is trashy? Yes there’s the occasional mobile home, but all of Cary is expensive af
Update: Habitat for Humanity salvaged most of these houses last month, and as if this week, call but one are gone. BTW, per Cary PD, not a crime scene - police SWAT training ☺️
It's very sad that these will eventually be destroyed instead of renovated. There is a severe housing shortage within a 30 mile radius of Cary unless you can afford $250K+ for a home that would be $70K in the small towns within easy commuting distance of Greensboro.
OMGOSH I can't believe that while watching this I recognized a house that a friend of mine use to live in. The house with the jacuzzi use to be so beautiful and decorated to the nines. We use to have the best times in that house. Hard to believe that was 27 years ago, it seems like yesterday. The road these houses are on is the only road in the neighborhood. What a shame that what was once a very nice neighborhood is like it is now. I don't understand why people would leave their beautiful homes. I'm definitely going to check and see exactly what happened.
"We were told that there were crackheads living in one of these homes and, now, I'm certain that it's this one right here." He's not trying to be funny, but, it is hilarious! 😂
It will vary in volume, but it probably won't lose more helium. Helium expands with heat and contracts with cold. Expansion limits have likely already been reached since it has gone through at least one seasonal cycle, so they have likely deflated (as in gas loss) as much as they will due to over-expansion (and they may not actually have deflated in that way all if the pressure hasn't been sufficient to escape the envelope.). A deflation, (as in volume decrease by cooling) won't affect it's lift capacity in a fixed air pressure environment However, if released into the atmosphere, the balloon will likely eventually explode because the higher it goes, the lower the relative external air pressure, the volume of the helium may expand beyond the strength of the envelope.
Hey Rob, if you call the tax assessors office for the town they would be very likely to tell you why the houses are vacant and if anybody plans to re-develop the area.
RnK All Day Did they say why all the homes are abandoned? Mold? Financial problems? A crime, maybe? Will the homes be torn down or restored? Thanks for the video!
Kelly G bankruptcy seems to be one of some of the families problems if not all. It is being developed by what seems to a hospital, thanks for watching!
Does that suggest that someone bought out all the families who lived there and then ran into trouble, and then the hospital group bought the land. That makes more sense than anything else...
bad idea to have a jaccuzzi indoors in a small room especially with the wood walls. The condensation would readily contribute to mold growth. Anyway it is much nicer to sit in a hot tub outside in cooler air.
Just wondering why the people that moved out left all this "good" stuff behind. Smooth top stove, stainless steel refrigerator, precious toys and photos, furniture.... So sad.
Just because the floor was torn out, doesn't mean that it was a crime scene...there's nothing to indicate a crime scene....and if the previous owners took their flooring (which seems excessive, but possible if it was an expensive marble or some such) then they may have out the tape up to warn anyone that went into the home to be careful...
Same thing happened to my grandparents house. An airport wanted to expand so they bought all the house for like 5 times there value. Homeowners had the option to take less and have the house moved but houses are never the same once moved. So my grandparents took the money and moved.
RnK All Day Squatters is my guess. I doubt the owners want to celebrate there. Unless they got the home for cheap and are the new owners. That would make sense. Thx for sharing!
I don't know I still have helium balloon since I was 16 an I'm 21 lol but I kind of thought of the same thing but I wasn't sure because mine is still completely full
The posters in the presumably child's bedroom are from a now defunct magazine called "Word Up" which ceased publication in April of 2012 and was largely marketed to young African Americans and featured articles on hip-hop, R&B, African American celebrities, models, and prodigies.

yea the whole state of North Carolina is exploding in construction and population, my parents brought us here outside charlotte 12 years ago and my town had 43,000 people, today its about to surpass 80,000. which is insane because that was about how much the population of the whole county was 12 years ago. now the county is over 200,000. everyone who works in science research, medical or finance/banking moves here now.
ya cant get a job without an address, but then you cant get a home without a job its a difficult one cos who would hire a homeless person??? I bet if they had that opportunity they would jump at it, they just don't get that chance :(
Michelle Williams...How many homeless persons have you dealt with? Not many, or you would know that most homeless simply do NOT want a home & prefer to live free on the streets for whatever their reason. Some have dropped out of society. Some are mentally ill. Some are running from the law. Many different reasons.
This is the video that brought me to your channel. I came across it after watching other exploring channels. You've come such a long way in the last year or so. I still love this one though. As always, thanks for bringing us such great content.
The older house on Kildare Rd, across the street from Wake-Med/Cary, was beautiful. I think that hunk of property in front was originally a horse farm. The cul-d-sac was behind the manor style house. I wouldn't be surprised if a doctor or two were already living in those houses when the offer was made. They are now in the process of finishing up construction projects on the property. That highway behind is US 64.
Wait.. at 21:25 if that helium balloon is still floating, all be it partially floating, that means people must have been there in the past week from the recording ...
@@jaystus But that dosnt explain the recent party or what have you. Mylar balloons only float a week, 2 tops. So whether abandoned or foreclosed... Still very odd/suspicious/creepy...choose an adjective. ✌️☺️💜
I find it very sad and creepy too. So many things in those homes could be salvaged if they are just going to tear them down. Some look more recently abandoned.
If there’s one thing I learned from watching Rehab Addict is to recycle or give cabinets, doors, windows, built ins to Habitat for Humsnity. I understand if the hospital bought out the neighborhood but recycle all you can for people that are low income that need houses upgraded!
The owners of 13 homes in this neighborhood, near WakeMed Cary Hospital sold their homes last year or the year before to a developer who plans to build a senior care center, medical offices, and a hotel here. Who knows if it will ever be developed!! Kind of sad really!
I would be sad for the homeowners if they sold & the developer never creates the new structures- it really looks peaceful especially the home with the gazebo

As many abandoned homes in the USA NO ONE SHOULD BE HOMELESS OR WITHOUT SHELTER ANOTHER WASTE. THANK YOU
America = Money First. A developer bought those homes whatever else is going on is unknown.
You could squat legally. Ownership doesn't take too long.
Well now you cant since it is gone
@@bryan316 how do you know
@@bajapickleball1052 Yeah no. All has been leveled and a new medical facility was erected in its place. Long live the newly erected!
I would love to hear the families stories. I think It would benefit everyone who owns property or wishing to own property to know these family stories
jen d Glad they donated to Habitat.
Once squatters get it, damn near impossible to run them out.
I live in Cary, no one was forced out, no ghosts, nothing. The homeowners were approached by a large company that offered to buy them out so they could use the land to build a new medical facility and nursing home, parking garage, etc. All you have to do is google abandoned Cary neighborhood.
diff plan.
David Williams How long ago was that? Seems really bad to take property & let it rot though. Terrible waste.
David Williams i live in cary, and just found out i went by this everyday on the way to school.... i feel upset that i never got to see it
OJ McClanahan it happens man
OJ McClanahan- WTF are you talking about, "abandoned for 20 years"?

They should've set aside those houses for their higher ups. What a waste!
@@Schreibtisch1 they demolished all the houses.
Why did Wake Med buy them out? For residency students?

I'd have to get it in writing first but I would be pretty motivated too.
I think they we’re probably offered fair market value but no more
@Omariuss
So if your house is worth 300k and your offered 1.5m you'd refuse!
I think not lol.
I wished places like this could be fixed up for homeless people to stay so they wouldn't be out in the cold.
Exactly what I was thinking. At least as temporary homes for people until they get back on their feet.
But it was sold to be torn down and replaced with a medical plaza across from the hospital. Why would you add MORE people to it just to have to force them away, too? Or if there were some squatters still in the homes when they were demolished? Cary also isn't a place full of many homeless people.
that would be enabling them, they need to get jobs and be productive members of society
The homeless couldn't pay the taxes. Taxes, besides mental and drug problems are one of the main reasons why they're homeless. Keep asking for bigger and more government. Feudalism, it's what's for supper.

The noise from that freeway would drive me right the hell out.
That was what I was thinking drove them out at first.
I've lived next to a highway and my sister lived under the end of a runway. after a couple of months you forget.
You dont even hear it
You only notice the lack of noise in situations like that.
The CTA elevated line ran through the ally next to our back yard. I lived there from birth for 10 years and only noticed when the trains stopped running.
I also live about a block away from the highway. I will notice when there's a really loud truck but outside of that, I don't notice anything.
My thought exactly.
Goddamn that road noise is annoying...
yogaplaneresearchgroup q
Here in MA, tha state is putting up noise barrier walls along busy highways-they are about 20' high and do a good job.
yogaplaneresearchgroup I was thinking the same thing.
You know what if I was homeless I would camp out in one of those houses too.

I know I can't believe what some people don't sell in these situations ....it's so strange to me
Habitat for Humanity is picking up the leftover appliances as donations.
how do you know that?.

If anybody is curious, this place was torn down a couple years ago. Probably not too much later after this video was posted. It’s all gone forever. Daniel Bowens, So the city bought all the land from the guy who built all the houses right after he finished building all the houses? I am amazed that these houses were built back in the 80s and abandoned and are in such good condition. Usually you would find graffiti on the walls, broken windows, lots of leaks and mold and you don’t see much of that at all. And no one knows why the neighborhood was abandoned?
No a nearby hospital offers to buy the neighborhood and every home owner agreed to sell. Now all the houses are sold and the hospital put hospital buildings in the area. If you go on Google Earth you can see the buildings but once you go into what is now the parking lot, the picture will change to pictures of the neighborhood when people still lived there

"The entire neighborhood agreed to put their entire community up for

saying, is because Cary has experienced such rapid development. Twenty
years ago, that area of Kildaire Farms Road wasn't so busy and built up.
Unhappy with the fast pace of growth, but not always able to afford to
just up and move, sometimes neighborhoods create this kind of solution.
So the rapid expansion of Cary is partially to blame. These are nice
houses -- according to Zillow, many are worth between $250-300k. The
company that bought the neighborhood is planning to raze the houses and
build a senior living community."

Hi. Thanks for explaining all this. You don't know unless someone in the biz network knows and decides to share.😁
@@user-uh3wm6em4l Kelo v City of New London says government can take your property by eminent domain and sell it to private developers

Did you notice the balloons were still floating? There sure was someone there not to long ago!
Foil balloons can last for years as long as they aren't punctured. They aren't porous like rubber based balloons.
They usually at least deflate a little especially with temperature change
It will vary in volume, but it probably won't lose more helium. Helium expands with heat and contracts with cold. Expansion limits have likely already been reached since it has gone through at least one seasonal cycle, so they have likely deflated (as in gas loss) as much as they will due to over-expansion (and they may not actually have deflated in that way all if the pressure hasn't been sufficient to escape the envelope.). A deflation, (as in volume decrease by cooling) won't affect it's lift capacity in a fixed air pressure environment
However, if released into the atmosphere, the balloon will likely eventually explode because the higher it goes, the lower the relative external air pressure, the volume of the helium may expand beyond the strength of the envelope.

Tattooed Dom 89 thanks!
I LOVE Cary!! I was almost a “relocating Yankee”. That was 12 years ago, I was down there last Spring and it’s changed SO MUCH goodness!!
yea the whole state of North Carolina is exploding in construction and population, my parents brought us here outside charlotte 12 years ago and my town had 43,000 people, today its about to surpass 80,000. which is insane because that was about how much the population of the whole county was 12 years ago. now the county is over 200,000. everyone who works in science research, medical or finance/banking moves here now.
So sad to see so many amazing places empty when there is so many homeless people living on the streets xxx
Michelle Williams my exact same thoughts , it's just incredibly sad to me.
Michelle Williams that what say...fixed these houses up for the homeless and low income
I couldn't agree with you more.
ya cant get a job without an address, but then you cant get a home without a job its a difficult one cos who would hire a homeless person??? I bet if they had that opportunity they would jump at it, they just don't get that chance :(
Michelle Williams...How many homeless persons have you dealt with? Not many, or you would know that most homeless simply do NOT want a home & prefer to live free on the streets for whatever their reason. Some have dropped out of society. Some are mentally ill. Some are running from the law. Many different reasons.
@10:21 that 1970s kitchen!!! The orange countertops and brick facade on the walls!! Omg...I would love to have that look in my house!!
Are all the houses gone now?
@@lisaanderson1167 Yes.
Wait.. at 21:25 if that helium balloon is still floating, all be it partially floating, that means people must have been there in the past week from the recording ...
These houses were sold, a hospital is going to be built there. They were not foreclosed on.
@@jaystus But that dosnt explain the recent party or what have you. Mylar balloons only float a week, 2 tops. So whether abandoned or foreclosed... Still very odd/suspicious/creepy...choose an adjective. ✌️☺️💜
Kristie VanOrnum yeah people were definitely staying there until they were demolished
I have a Mylar balloon in my house that is 6 months old and still floating. I’m leaving it to see how long it lasts.
Great vid !
I find it very sad and creepy too. So many things in those homes could be salvaged if they are just going to tear them down. Some look more recently abandoned.
These houses were sold, a hospital is going to be built there. They were not foreclosed on.
Habitat for Humanity did just that. It was in an article about the property.
The last family moved out in December of 2016
I think the mylar balloons still floating around 20 minutes into video would've been a bit unnerving...
NC is my home state and i didn't even know about some of these places
He certainly loves his fireplaces! Lol! Also, damn these houses went OD on the decorative mirrors!
“Completely abandoned for absolutely no reason”?
There’s always a reason. Always.
Wake Med, crybabies.
If there’s one thing I learned from watching Rehab Addict is to recycle or give cabinets, doors, windows, built ins to Habitat for Humsnity. I understand if the hospital bought out the neighborhood but recycle all you can for people that are low income that need houses upgraded!
Cary! I used to live in that part of NC. Everyone called Cary the Containment Area For Relocated Yankees, lol.
The owners of 13 homes in this neighborhood, near WakeMed Cary Hospital sold their homes last year or the year before to a developer who plans to build a senior care center, medical offices, and a hotel here. Who knows if it will ever be developed!! Kind of sad really!
TheHooligan75
said the other side of highway had expensive subdivions. Where there is money, medical practices will succeed.
That high cost of medical insurance pays for that.
I would be sad for the homeowners if they sold & the developer never creates the new structures- it really looks peaceful especially the home with the gazebo
TheHooligan75
It was. Just had my gallbladder removed there. Nothing special - just another fancy hospital making money off of the sick here in NC with terrible insurance and shitty paying jobs.
The house at 00:18 is beautiful !
You know you are getting old when you see a television set and carpet in an abandoned home that was identical to yours as a kid... The music didn't help either, I have a tear in my eye. It sounds dumb, but I'm afraid of getting old.
Everyone is afraid of getting old. It's just that nobody talks about it. :/
Give your life to Jesus. Invite Him into your heart. Romans 10:9-10. Spend time with Him. Let Him in. He loves you and will never leave you. When you leave this life, you’ll be with Him in Heaven 😇
LA Amen!! I did and it’s so much better than the life I left behind!! God Bless You!! ❤️
What's the alternative?
Someone said all the folks sold & were moved out the same day & partied in the street. Some sure left a lot of personal stuff though. Thats always weird.
Yeah like winning the lotto, woohoo
I was born and raised in Kannapolis, NC.
A lot of different industries left NC in a matter of 3 decades. - Textiles, Cotton Mills, Cotton farms, Tobacco Road, the once giant Furniture industry, etc....
Along with these industries went thousands of jobs ranging from janitorials too CEOs. Housing market has been loosing ground in the Carolinas for many years.
Thanks for content pal.
God Bless.
Abandoned places always give me creepy feelings... You should check videos about Chernobyl, 30 years later.. Ghost town. Everything detorirated of course... it's horrible. People had to be evacueted very rapidly, left their pets home (weren't allowed to take them ). They thought that they are leaving town just for 2-3 days. They had no clue that they leaving their homes forever.....
The sad music really fits
very very cool explore Robb. Great find!
I live a few miles from this and went to visit the other day. I wasn't sure if I was in the right place but turns out it is now a huge retirement community that has yet to open.
Nice houses to sad, with so much homeless people in the world thanks for sharing.
This is my hometown, it’s crazy to see these houses in the conditions they were in. I honestly don’t even recognize the town anymore when I come home to visit, they’ve torn down everything that gave the town it’s old charm in favor for expensive cookie cutter houses and big businesses on every corner. I can’t even afford to live there anymore. Makes me really sad.
I honestly give it about a year before those houses are vandalized beyond the point of recognition and that is sad 😞
They have already tore down all these house and started new development. I don't think the road is even there anymore.
Charles Wade its not! It’s now a hospital expansion and a bunch of other buildings. I live here. It’s been completely redone.
Was there someone with you? I saw a guy in the doorway when you were talking about the wood off the doors being ash in the fireplace..?
at the end, the woman he's talking to says 'these two guys'
Another vlogger...he was holding his cam with lights on..
Great work on the video ! It must have been heartbreaking for the people to leave all these beautiful homes behind...so 😢
so many empty homes in this country, enough to house the homeless 3 times over.
They aren't just "empty homes". The land was purchased and they are about to be torn down for development. In fact they already have been.
13:56 who is paying that electric bill? The unfortunate side effect of these videos being uploaded is now those houses will be trashed by vandals.
buzzcrushtrendkill I said the same.
I hope not
The house around the 20 minute mark has helium balloons still in the air? WTF? Lol
LOL @ the 6-pack of apple juice. What the heck?
Apple juice is a cool refreshing drink lol
This is a great video ! You're thorough and methodical and your camera work is excellent. Plus you're easy on the eyes 😊
Very different house. I strangely love the lay out of the whole thing. Nice angles. Very cool!
Music is perfect. 🤙🏽
All the yelling/fighting memories good & bad. Holidays etc makes what you think what went on in those houses. 🤙🏽
