- Come take a tour through the most surreal location I have ever witnessed. Filled with tennis courts, 18 loft buildings, one 6 story condo tower complete with penthouses, & a massive restaurant and pool complex. All completely abandoned and untouched.
2020 Update - The The Colony has now been completely demolished and there are finalized plans for a St. Regis hotel and residential complex to be built on the land. While the plot of beachfront property is still fenced off with nothing but grass growing, a preview/sales center is expected to be built in 2021. Who knows when the hotel will actually be built though...

Hey everyone, take a look at our brand new video of the very last days of this resort before it was completely demolished.
ruclips.net/video/HmDMq-vlB04/видео.html
Bright Sun Films what amazes me is the sheer waste. I own some pieces of furniture just like those seen in the resort, which we all know it will not be long before the elements begin affecting them. I know what I paid for those pine Bombay style pine dressers, and I could not afford the armoire's they have to match them. What is the reasoning I wonder in not auctioning these things off. Yes in the long run it is not gonna solve the financial ruin, but seriously do it for respect for the craftsmanship, and the resources of wood, just a sad sad waste in my eyes!!😧😳😔
Ok
Anybody up for some *T E N N I S ?*

I love the fact you tell the history of the buildings unlike other RUclips explorers . Thank you for your effort.
Well if you think about it, it would kind of make some sense to assume most explorers and their channels likely wouldn't be putting much if any focus at all on the history aspect, since it's not a history focused or based channel, but rather, exploration! Thus the exploring part is what take the emphasis, while the honest likelihood is, they wouldn't know or necessarily even care too much about the history, since that isn't what they're there for in the first place. So honestly, I think a informational and/or historic focused or based exploration channel would be what you should look for, since they'd be the ones focusing on that history you're looking for. Jake here is of the latter form, and he always has been. :)
Yes this channel, which I only found today, is one of a kind. The production values are very good and the history intermixed throughout propels this over the top. This is only my 3rd video I've seen on the channel and blew me away. 👍👍👍
@@maclifer i so agree..i just sat here and my jaw dropped..and YES putting the history in this and pictures videos of people that were there at one time was really a GREAT add...i also felt this was over the top...do you know where this is at in Florida?? just asking...
The Proper People do a damned good job.
Thank you
So trippy seeing that suitcase with the belongings still there. Looked like something out of a zombie apocalypse
Like someone bashed though that door to get at the Coke, I thought that too
This would be a prime location for a zombie movie shoot.
I don't really get why they'd just leave all their stuff unless they had to leave like immediately? I thought like it was a hurricane but then he was talking about legal disputes?
My thought about it is that it looks like people fled right after an air alert.
I wonder if any of the clothes and stuff they saw belong(ed) to homeless people using the empty buildings as shelter.
As a homeowner I saw so much salvageable materials that it almost makes me sad. I wish I had countertops and mirrors that looked like that. Even some of the bed frames were in fantastic condition. Great video. Thanks
All the the illegal immigrant's can stay there ........Australia
Lmao you don’t need to be a homeowner to know that most of it is salvageable material
It's like a cernobal situation. Just dropped everything.
I KNOW!!!! Much of that will rot and become useless. I hate waste. Even the mattresses were good for a while.
@@angelafunnell3746
Ah! That's a better analogy than my aliens beaming them up theory. And it is the Chernobyl disaster, BTW. The actual town affected is still named Pripyat.
The residents were told to ONLY carry personal documents and food for three days. ALL of them expected to return to their homes. Sad.
Parts of the Fukushima disaster area are like this.
Only radioactive!
Is anyone else watching this in 2020 and wondered "who would leave a perfectly good can of lysol spray like that?" 😆
I was just thinking that! 😂😂😂
That was back when we all took for granted we’d be able to buy Lysol whenever we wanted & didn’t give a damn about knowing “Lysol kills the Corona Virus” was written on the back of every can all our lives. I’m 53yrs.
i saw that box of brillo, and immediately thought "that's not from 2010, that was from last month's squatters"
Two cans of lysol spray, two for $30.00 on Ebay
💝
The part where he was in the exact same room as the recording of the guy with the guitar really hit me in the heart.
That was crazy.
Yes, that was actually sad. At 10:31
Why!?? I don't get the relevance.
@@tonycariello8478 its to show that people were there, making memories. And its weird to think people were going there for over 30 years making memories just for everything to suddenly stop in an instant
What I realized by watching your videos is that we're all gonna die someday and leave all our crap behind.. Every single one of us.
Yup. Many are so busy with the things. No one will remember the crap you had but hopefully, they will remember what you left behind as a human being.
Same here. Matthew 6:19-21 keeps going through my head. All that hard work building, decorating, maintaining that place... all that striving, all for nothing. Earthly things always die. The rich will never get it though, they'll just keep building resorts lmfao
So you thought you were going to life forever for some reason ?
That's why I'm busy trying to sell most of it now even though im not old. We dont need as much stuff as we think.
Dave Hak----Exactly!!! Great comment.
The slicing of editing between the abandoned clips and clips from the resort was absolutely brilliant. Really well done!
And at times makes it bit creepy like a horror :)
For me, there's always something so sad about abandoned resorts or residences and not just all the useful things that get left behind that could have been repurposed. It is that existential sense of lost potential and memories that were made and will now fade away in time.
This is honestly so creepy. The way a bunch of personal belongings are just laying around, it feels like everyone just suddenly disappeared without a trace
I was thinking that same thing. It's super creepy to start with but the abandoned personal items make it eerie.
Truth is stranger than fiction.
Yes, all of the personal belongings are what REALLY bothered me. It's the most liminal place I've ever seen.
This video gave me a variety of emotions;
The eeerie feeling of why guests left soo many persanal stuff behind.
The amazement of owning such huge property and just have it there.
Sadness cause there are soo many people sleeping on the streets where thus could provide a bed fir quite a few.
This world is truly weird.
Thanks for your research this was really surreal.
it's more a get greedy and rich quick kinda world and FUCK EVERYONE ELSE !! WAR & $$ OUR TRUE RELIGION
@@1digitalsmith I don't know why I found this so funny, but I did...
My city built a shelter for homeless. Wanna guess how many use it? From rules, transportation to proximity all they do is gripe. Nothing is ever enough. I guess the college boys and gummit officials needed more tha 15 years of planning to get it right.
oh my gosh! jamila thats the very first thing i thought off. of how many people homeless
All furniture could have been donated! Wonder what happened?
Some of those rooms are in remarkably good shape for spending 7 years abandoned in Florida.
And 8 month after this video The Colony resort on Longboat Key was demolished to build a $650M luxury hotel and condo resort. So thanks for having done this video of a ghost place that neighbors are happy to see gone.
Damn this was in Sarasota Florida I passed by here many times
@@Beachboyig today i found this place on google earth and its only flat land :(
Bobtailik100 Oo dang I thing they demolished everything 😭
Most abandoned RUclipsrs don’t say the exact location deliberately to try and prevent vandals or thieves from further destroying the property.
monkeyz240 oooo damn
All I could think about, while watching, was LOOK AT ALLLL OF THE BEAUTIFUL FURNITURE. OMG LOOK HOOOW MUCH FURNITURE. It's sad that ALL of that could have been repurposed. One single room in this video, has more furniture and nicer things that most people do. Great video though.
I agree! All the furniture I saw could have beed resold or even donated!
You must be really poor to think these are nice furnitures.
I was thinking that too.
@@AleesaDellaRobbia these arent nice furnitures 😂 here in australia u get those when u come as refugees
@@User-718_ not all of us live in Australia and the furniture is vintage.
holy quality, this is better than lots of professional documentaries I have seen!
Goes to show that the mainstream documentaries are crap and totally scripted.
I found an article in the Sarasota Herald Tribune on 8/9/2018 about the demolition. I found this snippet amusing: "Wednesday’s work was cut short when the excavator ripped into Building 15 on the north side of the property and sliced through a giant beehive. Angry insects descended on several workers, stinging one three times. The workday then ended."
You’re a very non clickbait RUclipsr who has history and does not scream at the start. You’re a perfect RUclipsr. Thank you
That means a lot to me, thanks!
No prob, also I said that the morning I found your channel.
We were forced out of this place when we had a timeshare and told everyone they had just 15 minutes to pack and get out!! Some people were out at the time and not aloud back in. It all ended in thanks to Andy Owens! He screwed us all over and Adams was worse!
You stayed here? It's such a shame what has become of this beautiful place 😞
wow that's crazy!! I kind of wondered if something like tgat.....what I dont understand is that he kept talking about "current owners" . surely nobody lived there. so I hope the timeshare owners gir something out of the sale
So that’s why a lot of stuff was left behind? How sad.
What was the reason to kick everyone out?
Why did they kick everyone out? I’m so confused. And why wouldn’t someone take their stuff? Makes ZERO sense.
The production quality. wow.

Devante Andrews umm okay ????
Devante Andrews It’s still amazing
I know alot of people are saying it but the editing in the video, along side with the productuon, is just so DANG good. Enough exploration then a explanation to pad out the video, and playing the old videos while exploring makes it alot more easier to get the feel of the place.
This channel is the G.O.A.T. of exploration and dare that I say, documentary like channel I've seen on this site.
This is one of the nicest large abandoned places that has not been destroyed by people.
I’m honestly shocked there is so much stuff untouched and not destroyed
I feel like all those old photos need to be rescued! Ugh..that made my heart hurt to see em all left there to rot!
I felt the same.
Apparently it’s all torn down no so hopefully some of it was salvaged
The things left behind in the rooms are exactly the kind of stuff that we bring up to our timeshare and leave there year round. There's a locked storage room for owners, while the hotel style guests stay in the unit and don't have access to our things. So it's not crazy that stuff is still there.
The beginning always gives me goosebumps. I love the quiet, sad music playing as the camera slowly flies around the resort while the sun's sinking in the distance.
What an amazing coincidence! I am the sign maker who created the "Tennis View" Sign that can be seen at precisely 14:02 in this video...glad to see its still looking fantastic and holding up. The man who created the sign under my own sign was my bitter enemy who for years tried to have my sign placed somewhere else but I kept fighting back and placing my sign in its rightful location...If you are reading this Gerald HAHAHAHA my sign is better then your sign!
No way really?
Well, wonders never cease! Will I ever be rid of you in my life, Hassall?? The only reason the client agreed to commission your "sign" in the first place is because they didn't ask me until after I had already blown my budget on my 'The Colony' sign. I mean look at your 'Tennis View' sign... Look at the detail of that fancy quarter-round edging and the quaintness of the hand painted lettering, done sans stencil mind you... If you can't tell, I'm being sarcastic...YOUR SIGN SUCKS!
On the other hand my 'The Colony' sign is polished brass with raised lettering and the press-back insert allows for custom messages. I think it's clear who's sign is better.
GERALD I can't believe its you! Like a slimy snake wriggling out of the earth only to criticize my "Tennis View" sign even further!! How can I forget your sign "The Colony" ...the one that was so heavy it fell off the wall landing on Helen's foot Christmas day eliminating her from the Santa Claus Tennis Tournament! Just look at "The Colony" now Gerald...all the names have fallen off from cheap adhesive and poor craftsmanship and the sign commemorates nobody! Helen was a dignified longstanding member of the Colony and I can see why she was glad the day her name slid off that poorly made, nonfunctional overpriced piece of garbage!
Wut?
Wow... I'd Never believe I'd stumble across a Sign maker's Quarrel on a RUclips vid...
How is this not a Netflix series? I'd pay money to watch this.. Well, off to the Patreon it is then!
Jimmy Gigles it is not netflix because youtube to tv/movie never works
I do know this, I was just making a point that this content is far better then some of the other crap out their on national TV and streaming websites, and was just saying this could defiantly be good enough to make a high presence in that
Cause it’s illegal. Lol
Catsinelixe Holloway I'm sure if he had more resources he could pay the owners to let him go there legally and maybe even get an interview to fit a Netflix time slot.
thing is, there has never really been a time that having youtube creators make tv shows has ever worked, things that may be huge hits on youtube can be effectively flops on tv, but there is one way to start to bridge the gap, rather than straight to TV, do YT Red then TV, YT red is a middleground between TV and YT style content, but that is just a thought and I am not sure how well it would work
Doc was an extraordinary innkeeper, I had dinner with him and a couple other guests in 2008. After many stays at The Colony between 1969 and 2009, it was like a second home. What a history and legacy. In 2019 after demolition the rats invaded St. Armand’s Circle, we drove out to the property where a single bouquet of flowers were stuck in the demo fencing. This is the saddest film. Thank you and RIP DOC.
The Colony was my favorite place in the world! Thanks so much for videoing this! I always wondered what it looked like after being abandoned for so many years! My kids and I spent many holidays there and it was always such a happy, festive place! So sad!!!
The half packed suitcase was really weird too

You would have thought that when the man went bankrupt he would've auctioned off all the nice furniture beds lamps etc. instead of just leaving it there to be vandalized.
I read in a different article he himself was broke and old and had to go on a home when he was forced to leave due to mold and soon after died he was very old and sick and broke
It said that some people still own their rooms or whatever it was there. His penthouse was empty with most of the stuff auctioned off so I'm wondering if a lot of the stuff let if from the people who still own the rooms they're in. Or at the time of this, I heard it's gone now.

Great work
Ikr. Amazing beginning!
All the furniture that is in good condition could've been donated to those in need...what a waste...
Would have been nice if it was donated in the beginning of the financial loss of the owner. Now it's all exposed to weather and who knows what.
Tara Roach yes, I was going to say that it would of been great if it had been donated in the very beginning. Now it’s too late. Wouldn’t be safe to take anything from there. Unless it was nonporous materials.
And if the housing itself had been kept in tact it could have been provided housing for the homeless. It really is horrible how the housing market works in America. Corporate would rather see an entire resort with furniture and appliances in tact rot over handing it over for people to use and take care of for them.
Yeah it just seems such a waste, there are so many people that have nothing and these places could have been turned in to emergency housing for homeless or victims of domestic abuse.
At least if they donated/sold the property someone could have benefited from this situation now it will just rot. Such a shame
Right the colossal waste of resources is the most striking thing about all of this. It's so senseless.
What I appreciate the most about your videos, is that you take the time to research the history of the properties. The way you present the story is pretty engaging. I really enjoy watching your videos. Keep doing a great job!
Yes! Their knowledge and delivery prompted me to do a little resarch myself. The hotel was knocked down fully in 2019. October 25th of this year 2021 will be the ground breaking of the new St Regis Longboat Key! It is 5 star resort and residence property projected to open in 2024.
@@michaeltbrown8670 That is so cool!
This one is especially poignant to me, in the same way an abandoned home would be. I wonder what the backstory behind all the luggage is? And how did so many parts of it remain in flawless condition for so long? It's so sad that it was knocked down.
It makes no sense to me how you leave your luggage, clothing, Advil, Duracell batteries, ... behind - I'm lost with seeing that.
I always find it odd when people's personal belongings are left behind in some abandoned places. In private home you just assume they went out one morning and met with an unfortunate accident etc. but it is hard to explain in a place like this. Loved the video, so interesting.
Western Australia Now and Then probably homeless people, some stuff looked fresh
There was a place like this by my home, it was an abandoned horse racing track. Everything got left left, everything but employee’s personal belongings. It was so weird, and eerie, but fun at the same time to walk around some place that looked like an alien abdication happened.
There was most likely a hurricane evacuation and everyone probably thought they'd return in a day or two after it passed. But since these were secondary vacation apartments, the people never bothered to come back once they left. The legal battles over the property also kept them away.
So I think I know why the personal items and food were left behind. The people that owned the time shares likely left things in the locked closets in the units so that they would not have to bring as many items with them when they would come there to use their 30 days, which they probably split up throughout the year.
Western Australia Now and Then makes you wonder if some type of viral outbreak happened there
30+ minutes of an abandoned resort? Christmas came early and its lookin like a Green Christmas. Lol. Jake you always make amazing videos.
Haha thanks Brad!
Why is the name of the place not written anywhere? It's not in the title, not in the description, not in the opening 10 minutes. Dude. What the hell?
@@BrightSunFilms fantastic video. I hope that this & other abandoned facilities like this are housing the less fortunate in these troubling times. Thanks

I really love how you put in clips of actual guests staying there when the place was up and running. Very cool explore, crazy how almost everything is untouched. I know this was 5 years ago but still. I always enjoyed urbex and exploring but that was many moons ago and I am now a full time mom. Thank you for getting your videos out there to those of us that can no longer explore/ have the time to.
It was really sad to see the photos and the children's artwork left behind.
One way to help the homeless population to get back on their feet is to have them work and restore this resort. This would give them work experience, a place to stay, an address for job applications, a place to pay bills to rebuild their credit, build a community bank with micro-loans, a discount store, training to work in the service industry for other resorts, and a community of people with similar backgrounds that will naturally become a support group. This is not an original idea. There were many places like this during the Great Depression that helped many Americans to get back on their feet. Sometimes all we need is a little room to breathe and heal to build a new future.
Won't happen. As they will cheap out and just hold their handouts and the government will bail them out some more.
Anthony Sullivan Do you want them to continue to claim welfare or do you want to find a solution? A sanctuary of sorts is needed to help those that want to find normalcy with a work schedule, be productive, have real accomplishments, and find hope again so they can help themselves and hopefully others.
Qardo You can be a part of the solution or stand in the way.
President Camacho I have seen many homeless people begging for money on the street, while 200ft away, there are 2-3 stores with signs for hiring. I wonder why.
kyliemiu And you honestly think they would be considered as a serious candidate for those jobs in that exact moment in their lives? A homeless person has been scarred for life and needs opportunities to transition from homelessness back to being a home owner. An injured person needs a healthy place to recover. If you don't have the money for an address, phone number, a shower, bed, properly nourished, and clothes for those employers dress code you are not going to get a job let alone be keeping it. We need something better and a more robust system other than homeless shelters and soup kitchens. Think of it as an investment with more people paying back into the system and a more effective safety net for those that have been pushed onto the streets. With more and more jobs being automated to the rich getting richer and monopolies getting stronger, we need a better system.
Now this is how you do a proper exploration video! I love the old footage mixed in with all the history. It really brings you into the video and makes you actually feel some emotion. Very very well done.
i was born and raised in sarasota, florida. i wasn't very old when this place shut down, but i remember my mom talking about it happening. it's so jarring to see it, because the occasional time we did see it when going somewhere, she would always mention it. it's weird to actually see the inside of a building i saw the exterior of so many times before.
also, i didn't know this place was being renovated until i read a comment about it! i'm happy to see something's getting done with the property, even if it's just being torn down and rebuilt lol. i never really saw this place when it was thriving, but i would love to see it like that, even if it's only in what i hear from the family that still lives in sarasota.

That's exactly what I was thinking. The guy who took over the association presidency position should have shut up and if the owners have paid the 15,000 this wouldn't have happened . Less than a minute in and I'm already going "woah that's a neat shot". Definitely seeing huge improvements- keep it up!
I love how professional this is and yet you still managed to perfectly work in your signature intro line.
I love how the level of vandalism and theft seems fairly low. I am amazed how well preserved (not all rotten) things are. A true time capsule.
That can all change with some major storm/hurricane moving over the resort.
This is so sad. Anytime there is stuff left behind it makes me feel like there are people out there who would probably love to have this piece of history from their friends/family. I find it exciting to watch people who explore and would love to do so myself but i am always so afraid. I was raised to not touch things that are not yours or destroy it. I just found this video. I watched it with amazement. Our family owned property in Long Boat Key and I knew The Colony very well. Your video brought real tears remembering that place. I remember the restaurant and more to the point where your video ends just outside the main restaurant was the bar and grill. The burger was worth walking a mile down the beach to get it. Your shot in the area between the restaurant and the pool was the covered and not covered tables used to be. I loved that place. It was always upscale. You could wear athletic gear to the restaurant, but your shirt needed to have a collar. During lunch models from the shops would give fashion shows wearing the clothes and jewelry available at the shops. There was a piano player. Live music. I remember maybe 95-96 the natural event called the "red tide" where this thick algae would flair up in the ocean and kill tons of fish... the dead fish smell was everywhere and guests were choosing not to come because of it. So local business was down. I ate dinner here and looked out a window you show. I remember friends who worked here complaining because business was down that year because of the red tide. We had a condo just down the beach at another resort called Sea Place. We would walk down the beach and have beers and burgers. It was always a trick because you always had to have a collar shirt. I love this video. Thank you for it.
Sorry to ramble on incoherently. There are just ghosts that run through my mind as I watched it. Amazing feelings seeing this place again after so many years. Life moves pretty fast...
A very nice recount. Thank you.

Not really surprising that it has sat vacant since they went bankrupt, LBK is simply hostile to any sort of commercial development. Too many retired NIMBYS vote and run the town boards.
Ronin Sherpa same here Robin. Every year for my birthday my cousin Nova's birthday and Lisa's birthday because our birthdays were all in the same month and very close together. My stepfather or my friends parents would take us to brunch for our birthdays every year since I can remember. I remember the last brunch birthday brunch at The Colony. I remember the long matchbook matches that were green in color. I remember they made fresh waffles right in front of you with every single topping you could imagine. The brunches Sunday brunches were amazing especially on our birthdays. My mother would go to the Colony most of her life. And so did I. I really do miss the colony and it breaks my heart I could not watch this video for like a week I started to watch it and I had to stop it broke my heart it breaks my heart. My friend.

The time stamps are a game changer. Can't believe I haven't seen anyone do that yet. I also really like how it isn't all history at the beginning and all exploration the rest of the way. Having the history and exploration mixed together keeps the video super interesting. Home run, man!
You do such an AMAZING job with your abandoned vids! You cover all that RUclipsrs want to hear and see. History, clips, personal notes. Look, Ma, no wall-to-wall pavement or parking lot! Murf with his family made this place out of love for 40 years! So natural. I really hate the end result. Thanks so much for sharing!
anyone else really hope that they would open the television channel guide?
Meeeee
WTF!?
I was waiting for him to read the documents or see more pictures
OHMYGOD. Finally someone explored this place... I'm from Sarasota and we got to stay here the last day of operation. I explored it back in 2014 when it was even more preserved! I'm so glad a major Urbex youtuber got it before they turn it into condos. I can't believe you pulled it off! Security there has been crazy recently. Boy, it's eerie seeing the pool I swam in throughout my childhood, and the beach i built sandcastles on... on an urbex channel.
Also, as you added, the tension between the unit owners and Klauber have been making local news headlines or 7 years which most likely explains why so many people's stuff (especially in the 2-story units) has been left behind.
On a not-so-nostalgic note, when i was 8, i jumped off that fishing pier during low tide and twisted my angle :")
Marius Pollux Same. Grew up in Sarasota and grew up going here all the time. Stayed there during the last week of operation
What’s the name of that place?
Same here!! I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw the video on his channel. Really eerie and really sad, honestly.
Since you stayed the last day any reason why some people left leaving their luggage. From the looks of some of the rooms looks like they were being rushed out in a hurry because of outside forces.
Not 100% sure but Im pretty sure owners of the condos were told to leave and were under the assumption that they would be able to come back at some point. For whatever reason, they never were. Very strange though
okay that drone footage in the beginning?? fucking stunning. it looked like the beginning of a movie!
👌👌👌
It is.
Mandela effect durasell batteries please subscribe
You’re stunning
This was an amazing video!!! So much history linked to this place!!! The family did a great job with this resort . Too bad it had to close . Thank you for a wonderful look at some interesting history!!
Good job to your entire team, especially the editors, I feel like I am watching high budget found footage movie. The back and forth between present day and the past was just perfection.
Wow, I was planning to watch only a few minutes, before I had to do something but you managed to keep me here for the whole 30 minutes lol. There are so many abandoned videos out there now a days. But what you do is amazing, you give background, history, before and after comparisons. That is exactly why I watch abandoned, I love the history behind it so the picture of what has been going on gets filled in. Unlike others who just show the current state. Perfect, I love it !
That's what I like to hear, thanks!
me too I got hooked till the end this gut does great work.
Recognized it in under a second. I stayed here a few times in the 90s and early 2000s for work conferences and a few times for vacation. Nice facility and a beautiful location. I must say though it was getting a little tired and dated even back then. I'm not surprised at it's current state. It's so massive, upkeep and repairs I'm sure would have cost a fortune even during it's heyday. Great video tour! Thanks for bringing back some memories!
Karen R What city is it in? I'm from the Destin area
This was on Longboat Key near Sarasota
Bryn Byers this place is 5 mins from my house...
Karen R where is that place would you please tell me thank you
Adrian Gomez DON'T go into a property like this without a professional breather, please. Trust me when I say the black mold spores alone that you'll kick up could have very poor impacts on you. Nevermind the brown recluse, snakes, wasps, and bird shit, which will kick your ass with a case of spinal menimgitis before you know it. Don't listen to the freedom road folks, because they're not exactly accountable folk all of the time.
This is so interesting to me.! Thanks for posting. Thanks for the history and footage. It provides an eerie but meaningful visual of what it used to be.
Wow, another great video. I like the way you add in clips from the hay-day to give perspective.
The unopened food in those pantries is somehow one of the spookiest things I've ever seen.
Nerd City b
I dont get ti why they leave there stuff behind
Well you need something to loot in a zombie apocalypse
I like olives. I wonder if the're any good?
Im takin that Coke home.
Beautiful in a very lonely and dissociative manner. Very melancholic, and it makes me crave for the yesteryear. Great work, Jake!
Thank you!
Outstanding video. I love knowing Some of the history of your exploration. I'm always left wondering About the Abandoned property. Can't wait to watch more. Thanks
Absolutely loved this video. You supplied the history of the place and it was so interesting. Thank you
If I were homeless, I'd be hitting this place up ASAP.
I squatted for years all over California and the Pacific Northwest
Lol dude I was thinking the exact same thing.
@@brucekirk5386 hope you weren't one of those scumbag squatters that steals houses fucks with the owners
@@dawnbreak3299 I heard he was.
😂😂😂😂😂
Those rooms are a squatters/homeless persons dream home! Great video Jake.
when I see (the video not your comment) stuff like this, I think how they could give people down on their luck "X amount of time free stay" (once parts of it are up to different codes) ... in exchange for these people HELPING clean stuff up, clear stuff out, paint ...etc etc
Thank you for such a well done video. My heart aches for what happened to this place and all the people associated with it. So very sad.
Love watching this series. Dont see it on television much anymore, and I miss it! Simply amazing to see.
*Note, The Colony Beach and Tennis Resort as it was called, has began demolition as of March 2018 as the land was sold to another owner who plans to build on the land*
*Do NOT attempt to go to this location*
no worries--death before ctbr
I went here yesterday and none of the buildings including the 6 story condo have been demolished or anything at least yet. Seeing this place for my self and seeing everything that was in this video in real life was truly incredible.
lvsk - Have they started with any construction machinery or security/surveillence? I'm thinking about visiting, too
They haven't started any construction yet at all nor do they have any security what i did was park in the lot of the building next to the place then hop the fence with my friend
I wouldn't be surprised if construction starts for a long time. The town is hostile to any plan that might actually return a profit.
Your videos are amazing. 30 mins is NOT too long, videos like this you never want them to end
Just came across this channel. Not sure where I have been but love the channel. This is really interesting. Great editing and the way you incorporate past video to where it is now is very cool and nostalgic.
First time seeing your videos. Loving this video..full explanation on the history of the property and great footage and what makes it a more special for me is the old vidoe clips taking in the place to it true life form. Looking forward to seeing meny more of your videos as have subscribe .Amazing video..thank you so much for sharing.
Amazing video, probably my favourite of yours. The way you linked the drone footage, history/commentary and the explore itself was so well done. You and The Proper People make TV worthy documentaries, insane work man...
One of the most cinematic and well-produced you've ever made in my opinion! I love it, especially being some South Florida!
Jake u a real one for putting the times on the video but love watching the sky in every video’s stunning bro keep doing great things
I love how you buzz in with photos or videos from the past. Awesome
I remember back in the late 80's and early 90's when The Colony was an amazing place to be when you were on Longboat Key!! The Monkey Room served wonderful food and drinks, there was always something fun going on... It is a real shame that this great piece of history is now gone... But those of us who spent many wonderful times there, we will never forget the great memories we made there!!
I stayed in Bradenton Beach, and always thought of Longboat Key as ritzy. The rumor was a New York mafioso had a winter home there.
I'm always amazed by your editing, but this video is definetly your best work to date. The intro and outro were stunning and the cuts to the old photos were brilliant. Awesome job, Jake. Keep up the great work.
Absolutely agree. I had goosebumps during the entire intro. Beautifully done, Jake.
Thanks guys
Very Kool and informative. This whole resort has since been completely demolished and a new one to replace it is currently under construction.
